If you want overpriced tacos smaller than kids size, that doesn't even have the ingredients listed on the menu.. then Torchys is for you. Due to a tornado warning, we decided to skip driving to Agave + Rye (big mistake) from Veterans due to living over 30 minutes away and needed to get home stat. So we ordered from what we thought was an interesting menu compared to most taco spots. Sadly, the tacos received were child size, yet cost $7-$8. My shrimp taco had one shrimp on it, and the rest sauce. While my chicken taco that was supposed to have quirky ingredients was missing said ingredients and the chicken was raw. I immediately spit it up and threw it in the trash. While my stomach did hurt for two days, I'm still alive. So, it luckily didn't kill me but there is a serious disconnect in the kitchen. I attempted to contact the business to discuss the order issues but a manager never called back. Wouldn't have left this review if communication was followed through on. I work hard for my money and was expecting a loaded high-quality $8 taco worthy of the investment. Torchys, sadly, didn't deliver on that promise. Location was perfect. Plenty of parking and plenty of seating inside. There may be a small patio during warmer seasons. You order at the register and get a number. You then go find a seat and get your drink. They also have a bar area you can sit in. The food came out pretty fast. Everything was delicious. The green chili queso and chips was to die for. It was so good. We made sure we brought the leftovers back. I had the fried avocado taco and the green chile pork taco. They had really amazing flavors. The green chile pork could have had more sauce and a little more flavor but it was still good. The fried avocado taco had two pieces of fried avocado, cheese and some sauce. All those flavor together were perfect. I didn't know it had onions in it and wish I would've known so I could ask for none, but I ate around it. My guest crossroads and the steak fajita. The service was a smooth ordering transition. I never had a call to the table buzzer as other restaurants have to buzz you from outside or other, actually bring the servers right to your table! The food was placed ( not for the right customer, ) , but that was impressive the correct food came to the correct table. I liked that very much. The inside ambience was pretty cool and attractive towards customers. We ordered our food with a fountain drink. I wanted tea but found both unsweetened and sweetened dispensers empty. When I lived in California, I had good horchata at carnacerias , Mexican meat markets that actually cooked amazing Mexican food with drinks. Torchy's has a very good and sweet horchata that I was worried about being too sweet for me, so I added their cold brew coffee at the same four offering spot - and- it- was - AMAZING. My wife also got some horchata and I told her what I did. She said she wanted to try that also. She did and we eventually left with our remaining drinks to take with us. Really good. We both said we would be back for that drink , but not the food. I ordered the burrito grande with added grilled steak. The flavor of the meat was decent, but for the quality of the meat, it should have been cut up into small pieces, because it pulled out with every bite as a finger sized strip that you had to hold with your fingers to bite off a piece to chew for a long time before it broke down enough to swallow it. The cilantro lime rice was barely detectable for the two flavors. My wife had a barbacoa taco with Mexican street corn. She said ithe street corn was missing a creamy element. Her mother made it for her many many times. She had a few bites of her taco and a few bites of the corn. My grande burrito with added grilled steak was probably 80% beans and rice with cheese. Three very chewy strips of lightly marinated beef strips and a few smaller chunks of the same. It felt heavy in the hand but that was mostly the beans. They gave me two sauces on the side which I appreciated, because I really liked their chipotle infused sauce very much the other one made me wince like a child taking a bite of lemon for the first time. I love lemon and lime. I'm very happy with my experience. I never tried this place. However, - for sure- I will be back for the horchata and cold brew self made combo and not the food. My wife didn't finish her food and asked if I wanted to try it. I tried the corn first and agreed with her. I tried the barbacoa next. I decided to put my taste buds through a bipartisan showdown and ordered the Democrat and Trailer Park tacos at Torchy's. Spoiler: it was a mixed bag. The Democrat taco tried to win me over with some fresh avocado and greens -- kinda like a politician giving a speech with a few good points, but I wasn't totally convinced. It was decent, but I kept waiting for the wow moment that never quite showed up. The Trailer Park taco? Definitely the wild card. Fried, cheesy, and a little over the top -- like that cousin who shows up uninvited but brings chips. It was tasty, but also left me feeling a little guilty afterward. Overall, Torchy's tacos are fun and flavorful enough to keep you entertained, but I walked away wondering if I should have just stayed home and cooked. I had to make a drop-off for a client in Louisville, Kentucky, which is widely laid out compared to Lexington, but that's like comparing apples to oranges, right? So, I am looking for a place to grab dinner. Once again, I've grown tired of burgers, at least for now, so I checked Yelp for restaurants and blam! There was Torchy's Tacos in Jeffersonville. I was surprised since the last one I had seen was in Atlanta, Georgia. They had a combo special called the Trailer Park for $10 something, which was a good deal. I always detest ordering everything separately when I'm not overly familiar with a restaurant. So, I stayed in my comfort zone. I had a pleasant conversation with the manager on duty. He appeared to care about the customer's satisfaction, which was refreshing. The staff was great, and the food was fresh. Also, if you haven't been to Torchy's Tacos, it is a specialty taco joint similar to those higher-end burger restaurants like Smashburger, Red Robin, etc. On a side note, their chips with nacho cheese are plentiful. However, they added a lot of cilantro to the top of the cheese. If you're like me and think that cilantro tastes like soap, please ensure you let them know not to add it. read more

I had really high expectations based off of the reviews between yelp and google. Boy was I let down in every way. Husband got the trailer park combo that came with one taco, 1/2 chips and queso and a drink. Tiny little chicken tender on a floppy corn tortilla covered in toppings. It wasn't hot at all temperature wise. I had the grande burrito bowl. I asked for the corn relish and pico on the side. It came out all together. Sent it back and got the pico on the side but still had the corn relish in it. Left it at that and just sucked it up. However, it wasn't even hot enough to melt the cheese. Was too early for check-in so stopped by here for a bite. The reviews seemed like the tacos were pricy (they are) but worth it (they're good if you have extra money which I know not everyone does). The tacos are slightly bigger, well-filled, but also cost $5-7 so you're looking at $11-15 for 2 tacos for more of a light lunch size. Quality-wise, the tacos were reallly good. I'd advise not to get the chicken fajita because it's good but not worth the premium you're paying. I also got the Vagabond which is marinated grilled steak, bacon, chimichurri and pico de gallo - the first half of this was super good. Great steak flavor complimented with Latino flavors. Though the second half was a lot saltier for some reason - but still good. Overall, the tacos here are good but pricy. My mom & I went here for lunch. When you walk in there are menus to stand in line & order before you have a seat. You can also sit at the bar & they'll wait on you there. The staff was friendly & happy to help. We took a menu to sit down while we figured out what we wanted. Almost Everything we ordered had a little kick to it. That is right up my alley so I loved it! I got the Brush Fire Jerk Chicken taco & loved every spicy bite. Well, next time I may do mango on the site & just add a little. But overall a great taco! My mom got the Trailer Park Fried Chicken taco & loved hers. She added lettuce & cheese. Both of our chicken had great flavor. We got the Queso without chorizo & we really enjoyed that. I had been saving going to Torchy's. This is my 666th review and I can't think of a better spot than the devilishly-logoed taco spot! The billboards on the highway remind me that "Life it too short for s#!%&y tacos." The little devil flying beside it is carried over in the pitchfork door handles, the red features throughout and the illuminated letters that spell out "DAMN GOOD" inside. You order first thing at the counter. The menu is supplemented with a secret menu that has additional tacos. I don't know why these aren't just on the regular menu and think its weird that the "secret" menu is printed, laminated, and handed to someone who is visiting for the first time. But maybe I am thinking about how In-N-Out's secret menu works. These are tacos, dagummit! The food is very good and I quickly filled up on two tacos. Tasted great! Seating is plentiful and broken up into a few areas. There's even a few stools at the bar (which is full service, btw). I loved the lighting and fixtures! They gave it a much more upscale look. Torchy's is every bit as good as I've heard. If I'm going to drive all the way to Indiana for dinner, I'm glad there is a quick and tasty spot! The queso is absolutely delicious. We tried 4 different taco varieties and the burritos as well. Everything was delicious. The only down point was the chips served with the queso... they were stale. We got a second basket, and it was the same. The queso was good enough that we ate them anyway, and I'd do it again. Great, friendly staff. It's pricey, but not more so than other taco places around now. They also have a rewards program, which I'll always sign up for. We will go back, and when you consider how many options there are out there, that's saying something! read more

Torchy's stands out because it's not just a taco place, but they also have a bar and some adult beverages to accompany your meal. Yes, they have beer, but also margaritas and martinis. Because some upper-class bevvies for those with a more...refined taste. :) As far a Tacos go, they have Breakfast Tacos, Damn Good Tacos, Not Taco's, and THE BEST chips and green chili queso you'll ever have. Perfect spice level. You're welcome to convince me otherwise, but this will be the hill I die on. The taco options, while not extensive, go beyond the typical meat-lettuce-cheese variety. Gourmet offerings with fish, avocado, pork, shrimp dot the Taco landscape for an entirely different taco experience. The half dozen times we've been to Torchy's the service has been great. Helpful staff, clean tables, and the food delivery has generally been 15 minutes or less. They're not afraid of spice at Torchy's. Witness, then, the Brushfire taco. Chicken. I've spent almost 30 years in Texas. And Torchy's Tacos originated in Austin. Damn good tacos? Not even darn good. I'll give em props for unique combinations. The last time I visited a Torchy's I was disappointed in the tiny street taco size of their over priced food. Their tacos are now full sized. And their sides of chips & queso and chips & guacamole are now ample. But you can easily run up a $30+ tab (we hit over $70-3 adults/2kids and soft drinks) without trying. Queso was warm and flavorful. The guacamole was excellent, but a tad on the salty side. Both served with crispy chips. My chicken fajita taco was ordinary in flavor but well stuffed. You need a fork (if you can find one) to start the munching. Steak fajitas were terrible. I thought we were at Chuy's. Tough, dried beef strips. the kids took a few bites and went back to the queso. My wife's fish taco (Orange Taco) was too salty and with few of the fixins' described on the menu. A few kernels of corn and a couple of black beans does not make a salsa. Compared to the menu picture, it's unrecognizable. We also had an order of barbacoa (Democrat) and smoked beef brisket (Crossroads). My daughter-in-law described them as slimy. Nuff said. Honestly, loyalty to Texas aside, Torchy's gave us no reason to return. Lord, we miss Taco Cabana. read more

Finally got around to trying another new taco place that just opened, this time in Jeffersonville. Located off of Veterans Parkway in a busy shopping center adjacent to Five guys. Parking is decent and they were somewhat busy when my friend and myself arrived. We go in and there is a sign that says "Full Service at counter". There is a big menu posted off to the side when you go in. My friend orders first, I forget what she ordered. I order the Wrangler taco and the Hillbilly Chips and Queso. We were given number pads to put at the end of our table for them to bring our food. When mine came out, I was ready to dig in. The meat was plentiful but, it was too much egg for me. I added salt and pepper and it made it a little better. The Queso had some meat and guacamole in it. I will say some of the best Queso I had in awhile. We both also got margaritas and they were very good. We even headed to the bar to try different drinks, my friend got the Sucker Punch and I got Passion fruit Margarita. They also have some draft beer but we didn't get any this visit. The inside is very well kept up. The damn good signage was probably my favorite decor in the place. Even the same people who brought our food would go and clean a table as soon as the customer had left. They did stay on top of everything here. We will definitely come back here. read more

I am THRILLED Torchy's Tacos has made their way to Indiana. After eating at the Dallas location years ago, I had hoped that one day they would expand. The quality is still intact and the menu the same as the mothership locations, so I was very pleased with my visit. We got a variety of food - each time I try a different taco and this time landed on the Crossroads, which had tender beef brisket, tomatillo sauce, cheese, jalapeños and an avocado on a soft taco shell. Delicious and flavorful. The queso and salsa was exceptional- next time I go, I'll add chorizo but was sharing with vegetarian friends this time. I also got the street corn, which I absolutely love. However, this Torchy's didn't seem to grill it. It was definitely missing that charred, grilled flavor so that's my only complaint about my meal. Here's hoping we get a location in Indianapolis so I don't have to drive two hours to get my Torchy's fix. read more

We were pumped about trying Torchy's and went Friday night to check it out -- the line looked super long and went out the door, but we were inside within 5 minutes. They have open seating and full service at the bar, so we grabbed two bar seats and ordered there. The bar staff was INSANELY friendly and nice despite how slammed they were; bravo to their awesome attitudes. We started with the Hillbilly Queso and a house margarita on the rocks. The queso was fantastic -- it was thick and savory, and the chorizo and drizzle of Diablo sauce made it spicy and beefed up. There was also a dollop of guac in the middle; delicious combo. The chips were also fresh, thin, and salty. Really good! I really enjoyed my margarita, it was strong, not too much sour mix, had a nicely salted rim, and small chipped ice. Our taco selections really hit the mark, too. We had the green chili pork (the fave of both of us!), the Brushfire, and the Crossroads. The Diablo sauce (orange sauce in pictures) was s-p-i-c-y, so go lightly! I dumped the whole container on my taco and it was too much for me. Good though! But whew!!! The street corn... excellent. Tonight is my first time here not taking my usual seat at the bar (by choice mind you) and the experience is night and day. Don't want to get your own drinks? Sit at the bar Don't want to wait in a potentially long line with others that also may not be sitting at the bar? Sit at the bar For real, the bar is where it's at here which is a bit....odd to say the least. Dining in any other area means you will have to wait in the line to have your order taken at the register and then given a tracker that lets staff know where to bring your food. I was totally under the impression that Torchy's was a table service type restaurant but it is, only if you sit at the bar. Otherwise, same great food albeit I had no idea there was a smaller size of their Hillbilly Queso which is not at all shown on the menu. Delicious tacos for sure! We came here on a weeknight and it wasn't too busy. They have free parking which is a plus. I ordered the Hillbjlly Queso & Chips which is the Green Chile Queso upgraded with chorizo and it is by far my favorite thing on the menu. For tacos I ordered the Democrat which has barbacoa and the Trailer Park which has fried chicken. They were both good but I prefer the Trailer Park. They have a full bar so I got a Tito's Cherry Limeade which has vodka, sweet & sour, sprite and cherry. So yummy! I will be back! read more

Ok so tacos are bomb!!!!!! but let's get into the real reason I went to this spot. I went into work on a Tuesday and the chips were there. I asked about them and no one new where these Torchy's chips can from. So I went ahead and took some out of a bag and said I would buy more if I need to. Day old chips and they where still crunchy and delicious. The next day my supervisor comes in and says " we have Audi and salsa in the fridge. So I went in again and ate the chips and they were still crunchy. I said yo my self " if the chips are still this crunchy after two days and the queso and salsa are amazing I have to go. Fast forward to cinco de Mayo I grabbed some friends and we went for tacos and drinks. The Tito's cherry limeade is a 10 out of 10 I do recommend. I got four taco Baja Shrimp Taco, the cougar ( taco of the month), bushfire, and the crossroads. We went on the nice patio and sat to enjoy our tacos As a Jamaican foodie I will sign my name next to the bushfire taco. Now !!
