Great fajita and queso! I was in Norman for a business conference and me and two others decided to stop in since it had the shortest line. I throughly enjoyed my fajita and ended up taking my queso home with me due to not finishing it all. I will definitely try the Torchy's in okc sometime with my family. We ordered tacos from here for a friend's bday celebration. I took her recommendations and ordered a Baja shrimp and the brushfire. They were both so extremely delicious! They were both full of meat and deliciousness and two was plenty for me. We also got some of their queso and chips which is fantastic as well. I have been thinking about those tacos ever since trying them. I didnt want to take too many stars for this because it might be an isolated incident, but we ordered two things of chips and queso and ended up with only one bowl which was less than half full. We just ate the chips with some salsa my friend had made instead. I called about it and they said they would refund the amount of (only one) of the quesos and that never happened. With the 3 times I've had torchys I would give them zero stars for customer service. I really hope they can improve upon this because they've made mistakes every time I've been and haven't corrected it any of those times. My husband and I had actually decided to never go back with how rude they had been a previous time, but my friend wanted them for her bday so obviously I obliged and was unfortunately disappointed by their customer service yet again. read more

As a loyal torchy's lover i am really disappointed by todays workers. I downloaded the app in order to earn rewards since i go so often. and when you download the app you earn a free half chip and queso and as i'm ordering i ask for assistance checking in and this worker with purple hair and glasses completely took advantage of the situation saying the reward takes 24 hours in order to use it and I was like "okay" and then after I pay for meal the people I came with were able to use the reward completely fine and it was extremely aggravating especially since my order was wrong as well. So the moral of the story is I think they need to better inform their employees since clearly they didn't know how to take care of the situation. Overall very disappointing. read more

Had lunch here today, super yummy! My son is super picking so we ordered the burrito & asked if they could just put everything on the side so we could make it & they had no problem doing that for us! First time here and must say we were impressed. Food was amazing. You go in and order up front, might add they offer military discount as well; thanks. We tried the Green Chile queso & chips but put the guacamole and diablo sauce on the side. Chips were crisp and the queso was a home-run; exceptional. We both had the green chile pork tacos on corn, they were good, wife also had the Democrat (?) lol, and I had the beef fajita on corn, which was really good. Being in Oklahoma it is hard to find decent a Mexican restaurant making Torchy's not a bad option if you are craving Mexican food. However, I personally think Torchy's is over hyped. The tacos are mediocre but, the queso and guacamole are decent. I normally get the burrito when I go and I prefer it to their tacos. The street corn is definitely the best thing on their menu and worth trying next time you visit. It is always very clean inside and the service is very quick. read more

Excellent tacos and great service I was there for an early lunch. The tipsy chick was one of the best tacos I have ever had hands down my favorite out of the three I tried. I would return and just order three of these it was that good! Other two I tried were the green Chile pork good flavor on par with other pork tacos I have had. I needed a quick delicious meal and after being without food all day this sounded perfect. This appears to be a newer location and close to shopping as well as hotels. Parking is easy and plentiful. I tried the online ordering and I was in and out in 5 minutes. Now this may be because of the day and time but it was quick. I like Torchy's because you get and authentic Tex-Mex flavor. The name says it all. Everything is "torchy" (spicy). Lol. It smelled sooo delish from outside so we decided to stop in. The inside is well decorated and bright and airy. Such a nice spot. However, not very stroller friendly. Which sucked for us because we had our two year old twins. So we were kind of tucked away in a corner away from traffic. It took awhile to get out food and the options for our twins were very limited considering everything was spicy. But the staff was very friendly and accommodating. **UPDATED REVIEW! BEWARE OF THIS LOCATION!!** This place was absolutely incredible when it first opened, but it has gone downhill so much that I will not return to this location specifically for a multitude of reasons. Let me describe exactly what happened last night: My significant other & I came to grab dinner & placed our orders at 8:23pm. We ordered 2 tacos each & expected them to be at our table within a reasonable amount of time. Boy, were we in for quite a surprise! First, 20 minutes went by & I got up to ask the woman at the counter who took my order what was going on. She said "yeah, the kitchen has been slow all day, I'll check & see what's going on..." I went back to my table & another 20 minutes goes by.. Still no tacos or explanation. I had to ask yet again; "where are our tacos?" & I was left with this response "I really have no idea what's going on, I'm sorry." Where is the manager in all of this? Nowhere to be found. Finally at 9:05pm, our tacos arrived. Are you serious Torchy's? Almost an hour wait for just 4 tacos? But wait, this terrible night doesn't stop here... The tacos were missing 90% of the ingredients listed on the menu. I'm serious (see pictures) Why was I not told about this & charged full price? Why did it take almost an hour to throw a piece of meat on a tortilla & slather some sauce on it? Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had here; which is really disappointing because I love Torchy's, but something is very, very wrong here. My boyfriend & I were so disappointed in the fact that we waited for so long, for such crappy quality tacos. When we left, we saw the "manager" in his car, talking on his phone & finally got out & went inside the restaurant. I was so close to going back inside & giving him an earful, but decided it wasn't worth my time after I've wasted so much of it already. To top it all off, I got very sick after eating these tacos. Gawwwd, this ridiculous wait time... I'm starting to wonder if the food is actually good, or if it ends up seeming better than it is because I'm so hungry by the time it actually arrives. We got in line at 6:50 pm. We didn't get to the register until 7:20 pm. We didn't get the food until 7:50 pm. That's an hour long wait for something that qualifies as being "fast casual." And it's not like this only happens at dinner or something. It's like this every minute of every hour of every damn day. Is this the only place that Normanites (Normanese? Nomptonites?) consider when dining out? Is that what's leading to this giant clusterfrak of a throughput process? The hour that we spent waiting, we started talking about Lean and Process Improvement methods that could maybe help change how long people have to wait: - Maybe don't ask people what tortilla they want if the menu specifies what's supposed to come with a taco? Because asking what tortilla I want for each and every taco is slowing down the ordering process. - Maybe have more cooks in the back to deal with smaller orders (2-3 tacos)? As opposed to the family of six that ordered like... 15-16 tacos and gummed up the works for everyone else. - Maybe have one person specifically making nothing but Trashy Trailer Park tacos continuously? Because you know that 80% of your customers are going to order at least one of those. Churn and burn, son. Churn and burn. I mean... Do something. Because whatever is happening now seems to be for the sake of creating an appearance of constant busy-ness even while inconveniencing every customer who chooses not to sit at the bar. I had a pregnant woman waiting on food. Do you know what kind of stress that puts me under? Oh right, the food. The food is good... Kinda lukewarm-ish by the time it gets to you, but the flavors are there. It is kinda... "basic" but good in its basic-ness. I'm a big fan of the Trailer Park, "Trashy"... because... I mean... why not, I guess? Although, the last two times I've gotten "Trashy" Trailer Parks, they've looked/tasted different, so... I dunno. The Brushfire is also quite yummy (with a decent amount of heat). The Wrangler and Ranch Hands are good breakfasty options. And there are a number of secret menu options that I want to try but keep forgetting to. And the queso really is as good as everyone makes it out to be. Get it. Because it'll probably be the only thing you get to eat for a very long time while you wait on the tacos. But seriously, I don't even care anymore about how the food tastes because of the stupid wait time. I could maybe take the food to go (I don't even know if that's an option), but then we live like 40 minutes away anyway, so it's going to be gross by the time we get home. This is now the third time I've dealt with this madness, and at this point, I'm thinking this is how Torchy's does tacos. It's good, but it's not worth the energy/time expended... Edit: I reached out to Torchy's corporate about the consistently crap experiences at this particular Torchy's and they ignored me. I've heard a lot of hype about Torchy's for about a year now, so I decided take a trip down with some family for the sole purpose of visiting this place. When we walked in, there was a pretty sizable line, so I grabbed a menu and began to figure out what to order while we waited in line. When it's my first time going to a new restaurant, I'm pretty indecisive. I figured out which three tacos to get in about 10-15 minutes and we were still in the middle of the line. We finally ordered and began waiting for the food. The queso was the first thing to come out, and oh boy, it was good. Maybe it was because we were so hungry, but we tore through that in a couple of minutes. Then we waited some more. We waited an hour from the time we walked in through the door to when we got our food. Now don't get me wrong, the tacos were good. The Brushfire is great and has a pretty good kick to it, the Mr. Pink was...eehhh, and like everyone else has said, the Trashy Trailer Park is pretty freaking good. I think the only way that you should eat Torchy's is if you call your order in. Start the drive from Oklahoma City and then by the time you reach Norman, your food should be ready. Then eat it in the restaurant so you can avoid it being lukewarm. Torchy's is good, but not 'wait an hour for your food' good. Don't waste your time, order your food ahead of time. read more

First time patron. We went in with an open mind and left with a new favorite taco place. We started with the hillbilly queso and we were not disappointed had just enough spice and the chips were warm. Wife had the chicken fajita taco on corn tortilla and said it was very good. I had the fried avacado taco. Definitely the best taco I've ever had. Ask for the tomatillo sauce, adds a little bite. We also got a bowl of street corn and was not disappointed. It, by itself, was great. BUT, we decided to try mixing the corn with the queso. HOLY HELL!!! Fully recommend doing this. Maybe management will see this and put it on the menu! read more

So glad they opened one of these up here in Norman. The first time I had it was in Denver, this place was the same. Average wait time, average line, not too crowded when I went. I ordered the republican, the taco of the month (scallywag) and a brushfire. I regret that last one, its seriously spicy. The tacos are soo well seasoned, so flavorful, it was just awesome. Won't go back. First time I went I thought maybe I just got the wrong thing since everyone seems to rave about them, but after trying again I won't go back. Food was meh, at best. Bland, took forever. Corn tortillas seemed old and were falling apart. It was decently busy, but not packed. We sat at the bar. Bartender seemed in control, yet overwhelmed. Finally the manager came to help. Waited on the people beside us. They asked for an appetizer, never got it. We asked him twice for more chips, never got them. When the original bartender came back, we had to ask him. Then the manager sat at the end of the bar joking with his friends while the busy bartender left the bar to get our chips. Never again. You can do better Torchys. This was me and my wife's first trip here and we had higher hopes. I expected the place to be busy, but I would recommend adding another register or rethinking table service instead of ordering at a cash register then picking a table. We weren't even able to see the menu until it was almost time to order. So, we get our order in, we get the green chili queso and chips, my wife orders two Democrats, and I get a crossroads, brushfire and Baja shrimp. We also ordered two margaritas on the rocks. We find a seat and our chips and queso come out right away and it's great, some of the best queso I've had. About 15 minutes and here comes out tacos (no margaritas yet). My wife notices a hair embedded in one of her tacos! So we let the wait staff know and we remind them we haven't gotten or margaritas yet either. Soon enough, the manager comes out and apologizes for the hair and mentions or margaritas weren't on the ticket. Well, we never got a receipt at the register to prove it either, but for $40 I can assure it was ordered. No issue, He ended up taking care of our bill and getting our margaritas out to us. I would've told him to hold off though at the size of these drinks, they were really small (see pic). My favorite taco spot ever. I have been waiting for Torchy's to come to Oklahoma and now that it's finally here, my stomach and taste buds are so happy. My go-to taco is the trailer park, which is a fried chicken taco and I like it with the flour tortilla. I always ask to "make it trashy" which means they add shredded cheese instead of shredded lettuce (so much cheesier and better). If you want to add even more cheese, scoop out some of the green chili queso with a tortilla chip on to your taco and it is HEAVEN. The fried avocado taco is my next favorite. If you are vegetarian this is a good choice. My go-to appetizers are the chili queso and the black beans. It's safe to say the queso is the best queso I have ever had in my life. I could drink the queso from a cup, literally. The beans are topped with sour cream and Torchy's famous diablo sauce..it has a creamy consistency that makes it especially appetizing. My love for this place doesn't stop at the food. The drinks are delicious as well. The mango, strawberry, and swirl margaritas are not big, but they have little bits of fresh fruit in it, which make the drinks that much tastier. Alcohol content is not compromised with these drinks, so don't be fooled by the size of them. You will get a good buzz by just one drink! I HIGHLY recommend Torchy's! Torchy's arrived in Norman with much fanfare and a huge rep from Texas. Lines to get free food during a preview were around the building. So, I waited until it opened. My first meal at Torchy's was breakfast on a Wednesday. It was around 8:15. When I entered, there was one table seated, but a bunch of employees scurrying about, cleaning stuff, telling me hello. Being generally busy and friendly. The restaurant is modern with a bar, patio seating, and plenty of seating indoors. Having never been to a Torchy's, I didn't know how big the tacos were. So, I went with 3 for breakfast. This was too many, I'll get 2 next time. I went with the Ranch Hand, the Monk Special, and the jalapeno sausage with egg and cheese. The tacos are priced around $2.25 - $3.75 as I recall. Although I got water to drink, I noticed Torchy's has Maine Root sodas, so that's cool. I waited around 5 minutes for my order, which was brought to my table by a very friendly woman. She went and got me silverware as well. The tacos were hot, clearly just made. The eggs and cheese were the same in all of them, so that cancels out. My favorites, in order, are: the Ranch Hand, the jalapeno sausage, the Monk. This isn't to say I didn't like the Monk, but it was my least favorite of the 3. The accompanying sauces are all tasty, but they weren't fantastic. On my second trip (also breakfast, the lines and waits at lunch and dinner are still pretty long), I tried the Wrangler: eggs, jack cheese, potatoes, and smoked brisket. This is probably my favorite taco I've had at Torchy's. Very good. Also on this trip, I tried the poblano sauce for the first time, which is a creamy sauce with a bit of a kick. Likewise, I liked it better than the sauces I had on my first trip. On this second trip there were still a ton of employees, still cleaning, and the place was spotless. Everyone is very friendly. I can't wait until the line is reasonable and I can give it a shot at lunch or dinner.
