I was looking forward to trying Torchy's Tacos after hearing my friends rave on about it! I tried the Mr. Orange taco, Baja Shrimp taco, and the Texas Hottie (taco of the month). The best one was easily the Texas Hottie. It was spicy with a hint of sweetness. The other tacos were just okay. Nothing special about them. We also tried the rice and beans, queso, and street corn. The street corn was meh because I thought it was lacking flavor. The rice and beans were also basic. However, the queso and chips were to die for. The queso is spicy and flavorful. I could honestly drink it! The chips were crispy and salty. I would definitely go back for the chips and queso but could skip the tacos every time. read more

Very good. Worth trying- but wait til the hype dies down a bit. For how crowded it was, the food came out relatively fast. Baja shrimp taco - comes in either fried or grilled. I got fried and it left me wanting more because it was so yummy. The tacos are decently sized for the price / def not street taco size. I would definitely do 2 shrimp tacos next time. I also got the brushfire taco which was just okay. It wasn't the flavor I was expecting and very salty. My friend got the fried avocado taco and said that was basic. I tried a bite of the trailer park taco and wasn't super impressed either. It was just alright. Had a bite of their Mexican street corn- pretty good! Their queso is a MUST and is banging (it comes with some guacamole mixed into it!) It was definitely enough for 2-3 people! I later realized you can order a half size which I will opt for next time. You can also add chorizo in it which I did and it was just okay. Next time I'll just get the regular half sized queso... And you can ask for more chips at no extra cost. Diablo sauce is very spicy! I love mexican and tex mex cuisine but I am a pescatarian. Usually I am limited to shrimp tacos or fajitas. I didn't try it yet but Torchy's just added a beyond meat option. Definitely going to try that next time! I would love it if more restaurants would consider us none meat so thank you Torchy!! I had the air stream salad with Salmon! I had it once when they first opened but I didn't review it. I had it again this week and I fecided this salad deserves a review! The salad it amazing. I love that it has pistachios and corn offering a variety in textures. I hate boring food! This one has you digging in it and saying awww look, it also has XYZ. Love that! Then it comes with chipotle sauce AND a champagne vinaigrette. What Torchy!! You DID that for real??? SO SO GOOD! I also had the queso and chips. Went in yesterday and the food was bland and pretty tasteless for somewhere advertising their spice... atmosphere was okay and the people were pretty nice and it was pretty quick but overall would not be returning, the food was so bad I couldn't even finish my meal, I had to eat somewhere else when I left. Even though you walk up and order at the counter, the food quality is definitely far above a fast-food establishment! The restaurant has a fun vibe and offers both I door and outdoor seating! I didn't get to try Torchy's Tacos when I visited Texas so I'm very glad they opened a location in Raleigh I could finally try it. The tacos were bigger than I expected so I'm glad I only got 2, not sure I could have finished a 3rd. I got the Baja shrimp and the Democrat (barbacoa). They were both so good! The Democrat was probably my favorite of the two. The pickled onions on the Baja shrimp was a little overpowering to me. We also got chips and queso. I like that the queso was different and had guac in it. It was also larger than expected but a great item to share. Can't wait to go back and try the other tacos! read more

The tacos are all under $6 but it's worth it. I ordered 3 tacos because I thought they were going to be small, I was wrong it's a really good portion size. I recommend ordering 2. Today we decided to give this location another try. First off, I just wanted to comment on how amazing the staff and management is. Upon arriving we were introduced to the manager who was nothing but sweet, helpful, and you can truly tell cares about his restaurant. He was seen waiting tables, busing, and talking to guests through out our entire meal. This is a great example of a great manager. Our food came out very quickly and everything was hot/cooked to perfection. The portions and flavors were exceptional, we were very impressed with our food tonight. Ordered three vegetarian tacos. Two beyond meat and one fried avocado. I was brought meat tacos but didn't realize it until I had eaten half of one that it was real chorizo. I let the server know and she didn't seem to care much besides bringing my actual order. Keep in mind I don't eat meat ever so I'm thoroughly grossed out by what happened. The manager came by and asked how my meal was. I explained what happened and he said "sorry we have new staff." Look mistakes happen. But this is not how you handle this type of situation. I really wanted to love this place because of all great reviews. However, my food was just okay. I think if I would have ordered something different, I might've liked it more. I ordered the Trailer Park taco and my partner ordered the Midnight Cowboy which was a weekly special I believe. The green Chile queso was the best thing out of the meal and my partner loved the guacamole. It's about $4-6 for one taco but it's a pretty good size so the price is reasonable. They do serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages as well as a small bar inside. So, if you want a decent taco and a good drink with a fun atmosphere, this is a great place to try. We've been twice, both times at lunch on Fridays. Biggest tip is you can skip the line and seat yourself at the bar in the back and they'll wait on you. I love their Top Shelf Patron margarita, superb! And the queso is as they say Damn Good. I'm a cheese freak and always enjoy a really good queso but even my husband who usually eats a bit and leaves me the majority fights for an equal portion of this deliciousness. First visit we did a Baja Shrimp taco and the Green Chili Pork Missionary Style which is from their secret menu. Both were excellent. Second visit we repeated the secret pork taco and also got the Naughty Santa from the secret menu which has grilled shrimp - OMG that was a Damn Good taco. Bartenders have been excellent both visits. The tacos were good. The sauce was very spicy and the ingredients were fresh enough. Unfortunately I could not enjoy my trip to Torchy's because the staffs clothing, the artwork, and all the wallpaper features the devil--a.k.a. The Tempter. The entire restaurant seems to be set up as a shrine to the Evil One himself. I pray for the employees and all who visit this establishment, that they will see this place for what it is and come to understand Jesus came to this world as a human sacrifice so they might have peace with God. My trip to Torchy's reminded me of the Bible verse: "Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. Recently moved to the area and have been searching for a great taco spot. And this is it! Their tacos are THE BEST!!! Yes, they are more expensive than your ordinary taco joint but it's definitely worth it to me. They flavors, and types of tacos are amazing. We tried about 4 different ones and they were all so good! Drinks are also very good, they don't hold back with the liquor which we love lol! Customer service was on point. They were making fresh queso dip and would be about a 15 minute wait. They gave me the option to wait or just get guac instead. I was hesitant but told them I would wait. She ended up bringing us chips and guac while we wait for the queso. It was so sweet of her. My boyfriend and I want to try all of the flavors they have so I'll make another review soon! But so far the ones we had were BOMB! The only thing I have wanted them to do differently over the years is offer some things that aren't quite so spicy - like a mild queso. There's been so much hype around this place that I had to check it out myself! I went to meet a friend on a Saturday right before noon and it was packed. The line to enter extended outside the door past the patio. I wasn't expecting it to be this crowded but it was a nice day out. It's one of those places where you seat yourself after you order so my friend grabbed a table outside and I proceeded to wait in line to order food. I waited for about 15 minutes before reaching the counter to order. And there were only 2 counters open. The restaurant was pretty loud due to the music so it was also difficult to hear. But I was still excited because who doesn't love trying new tacos?! The woman at the counter did not have the best attitude. She acted as if she didn't want to be at work and I was inconveniencing her with my questions. I saw on the website that some locations offer drink specials and that was one of my question and she responded "I'm not sure and it's really busy sooo". I was shocked she responded that way and the service (or lack of) continued decline. My next and last question was about the sauces that came on the taco but she didn't know that either. Nor was she trying to get any answers. So by this point I just paid for the meals and proceeded to wait for the food outside. The patio has plenty of space with about 10-15 tables. We waited about 10 minutes before our food came out. I ordered the Baja shrimp and Mr. Orange tacos, both saucy. Now it looked delicious but I was beyond disappointed when I took my first bite and the food was cold. At this point, I just counted the experience as a lost. There wasn't any sort of service where someone followed up to ask how our meal was and I wasn't trying to track anyone down. On a brighter note, the food was very flavorful. The poblano sauce has a little kick if you like spicy. Overall, I would give this place another try once the hype has worn off. The service at any restaurant can make or break an experience so I hope that they continue to work out some of those kinks. read more

Yes!!!!!! One of my Austin favorites is finally in Raleigh! I think I have been there at least 10 times since they opened a month ago. While I love pretty much anything covered in either their Diablo (got some heat) or Poblano sauce (nice flavor), their Migas breakfast tacos are my favorite. Salad need to have veggies like Cucumbers, Tomatoes, peppers.. feel fresh and maybe just a few nuts in it. Cheese dip is Love. Love. Guac is good. Torchy's originally began in Texas, but they've brought that "everything's bigger..." mentality to their burrito! Their sauce and "dippable" options are great and they have a wide selection of tacos. The outdoor seating is right in the heart of a shopping center, yet you don't feel the hustle and bustle of it all. Staff is friendly and service is good though hiring more POC would be great. read more
