First time visiting and needed a quick dinner to go - Salsa Fresh Mexican Grill made that easy. I ordered the fajita burrito (which came with chips and salsa), plus a side of queso and a drink. Everything was solid, and the salsa bar didn't disappoint. I tried two, briefly considered a third, and showed a surprising amount of restraint. Service was impressively fast. My order was ready by the time I filled my drink. Next time, I'm dining in, grabbing a Dos Equis, and fully committing to the vibe. I gotta say...I was pretty disappointed. I got the fajita burrito and I don't know if they were missing ingredients or what it was but I found it ridiculously bland. I had to pour salsa in it each bite. The fish taco was also not good - the fish was strangely dense and heavy? The salsa they put on it also did not go with it. I was hoping for some good California Mexican food but this just didn't work for me. I think I'm going to go again to try their other stuff because I really want to like them. Maybe a wet burrito next time? The service was good and the people were nice which is why I'm giving it 3 stars. read more

I had never been to Salsa Fresh but had them cater our party this past weekend. I thought they'd be good but they turned out to be so wonderful! My cousin picked up the food for me and said the staff could not have been nicer. Everyone at the party agreed the food was delicious. Sort of funny how I ended up at this eatery. Had an MRI on Duraleigh Road, and the tech mentioned that she loves the on there. I totally planned to try another place on Strickland, but trying to park I saw, yes, you've got it, Salsa Fresh! As Robert used to say on "Everybody loves Raymond", I took it as a meant to be sign. I walk in and realize pretty quickly you order at the counter. I decided on the spicy pork burrito, made enchilada style. The lady at the counter kept asking me questions about what I wanted in or on it, and being my 1st time, I felt unsure, but got the rice inside. My food was delicious. The salsa labeled "chip salsa" was so good, like I'd imagine what is made in a home. When you get the entree "enchilada style" the chips are baked next to it, so they are nice and warm, super thin and crispy and have cheese on them (I take cheese on almost anything as a plus.) Negatives were my inability to really "get" ordering, and the seats for their booths are sort of worn out. No complaints with the food, though, and isn't that why we're there? read more

Their food has always been tasty: simple, fresh ingredients and large potions at a reasonable price. Their food is still fresh (I don't eat meat, so I should say the veggies are still fresh), but the prices are up and the portions are down. The hefty vegetarian burritos that took two hands to hold is now a compact snack. The last time I ate there I was hungry an hour later. Take-out was slow here and the kitchen seems slightly disorganized - you aren't given a number/sign if you're not dining in and you're left awkwardly standing around hoping that the kitchen hasn't accidentally given your food away to someone else. I was actually asked three times what I ordered! Next time I'd ask for a number just for some peace of mind. Also, after noticing that I was waiting around for close to 20 minutes, the cashier was apologetic and offered me a free queso. It was very kind of him!! Although the take-out process was long, the food is pretty good to satisfy your "California-Mexican" food cravings. I've tried the Bueno Burrito enchilada style and the Tamales Plate, both of which were big and tasty portions. I'm really on the fence with this place. The food is pretty good and it is consistent with quality, nothing to write home about. So I'm kind of a regular. But I'm really not. Because the service is what really stops me from giving this place all five stars. I've had issues with order accuracy and right now order pick ups. My only advice for any take out orders is to use caution, they will let the wrong person walk out with your order and MIGHT replace it. Could be an excuse for laziness or maybe they're really not out to satisfy the customer. In summary, good food but not the best service. read more

Go to Moe's. Same quality of food and not as expensive. Everyone is super nice, but the food is just bland and way more generic "Tex" than anything "Mex". Tacos = flour tortillas, cheddar cheese, lettuce... Definitely not the delicious street tacos that we're seeing more of now. You can get it with a side of bland beans and a "salad" (?), which is just tomatoes on a couple of pieces of lettuce and a drink for like $10. Burritos aren't killing it either. I'm rounding up on my 3.5 stars because this place is worth a shot as a regular "lets get some lunch" place. Prices are pretty good and you can usually get in and out rather quickly. When I go I get the tamale plate ...really good stuff there and quite a bit of food. Occasionally I've gotten some that were pretty dry (been in the warmer too long?) Burrito ingredients were fresh as always but almost no carne asada steak in my byob and they never gave me the spicy queso topping I paid extra for. Basically the burrito just had a whole bunch of black beans. Also no salsa with the chips when I got home. Used to go here a lot and it was good. Burritos big enuff to share. Been twice since the bat flu and it was not good either time. What they call steak looks and tastes like pre digested beef stew. Yuck. Chips taste stale. Got "nachos " and they just threw a spoon full of black beans on the bottom of the pan. A hand full of chip s on top of that, a hand full of cheese. My taco plate had lettuce that was obviously not good anymore, and the taco itself was just bland chicken and cheddar cheese. The first time I went to Salsa Fresh, my burrito was decent. The second time, it was just, for lack of a better word, 'bleh.' I expected something far more authentic and tasty. There was just a very odd taste to the California burrito. Definitely not fresh. They forgot my guacamole, which I was very upset about when I arrived home with my meal. The salsas I picked out from their salsa bar were both awful tasting, almost metallic in taste. I do like that you have the option to get your burrito enchilada or chalupa style (I think thats what it's called), either fried, or with cheese. I'm always eager to support local, more authentic places. This place has a lot of potential, the workers are very friendly. Perhaps I just caught them on a bad day. For a quick Sunday bite before heading to Lowe's for groceries, the large sign board out front advertising "California Breakfast Burrito" 3 eggs, cheddar cheese, potatoes with choice of chorizo or meat(s) seemed like a good call for $6.49. We waited along with a few other patrons for doors to open at 11:00am. The burritos were "ok" with good amount of scrambled eggs, cheese and chorizo. The potato chunks, were fresh, not frozen out of a bag. However, they were undercooked and tough to chew; gots to steam those papas the night before if this is your BIG special this morning. Side order of black beans was served in a plastic container. Completely bland and room temperature. Some salt, bacon fat, epazote or pickled jalapenos are sorely needed to pick up the flavor of this pedestrian side dish. I come in here about once a week for lunch. They have a great number of vegetarian options or easy ways to turn what you want into a vegetarian meal. I've been ordering the cheese quesadilla which I find to be perfect. It's a decent size meal without being overly filling. You get chips with it as well. S.F. has a solid salsa bar with fresh salsa on it. The salsas are delicious. There are at least six different kinds and they range in terms of heat. You select what you want which is one of the things I love about this place. I often come in during a busy time. I find that the service is efficient, but sometimes it's the people in line that cause the hold up. The food is made to order and comes out at a reasonable pace. I've been coming often enough that I recognize the staff and while they are not overly chatty, they are friendly. This is a solid place that's worth a look at. read more

I have been coming to this Salsa Fresh location for at least six years or so and every time I go, I swear I'm going to write a review. Well, the time has finally come! I have never had a better burrito than the one I get here. California burrito "enchilada style" is a cheesy behemoth of a meal served with chips that will leave you wishing you hadn't eaten so much but it's so good you can't leave any on the plate. It's a fork and knife burrito stuffed with meat, beans, and rice of your choice that's covered in melted cheese and red sauce. I can't say enough good things about it. I always take bites of what my family orders so I can also recommend the nachos, quesadillas and special mention to their homemade chicken tamales. Delicious. Go here! read more

Service is slow as hell tonight ordered take out people who came in after to order got food first

This place has really gone downhill in the last two months. Our family goes once per week and last night was the last time. I ordered thru postmates bc if you call to order pickup, they put you on hold then never pick up. I know this bc I watched the clerk do it several times once I got to restaurant. While there, at least one customer came back in with an incorrect order. Several customers waited over an hour, including us. One family of at least 8 including grandparents came in and walked out immediately. Mexican places are a dime a dozen. If this place wants to stay open, they need new competent staff. I can go to Moes and get my food hot and within minutes. I can go to Gonzas and have a cocktail while I wait. We will not be eating at this location until they make some serious changes. read more

The food was okay. My order was wrong but they fixed it. The fresh salsa bar was out of most items. The ice under the salsa keeping all cold had melted so it was luke warm. The restaurant was not clean; tables and floors were dirty. There were only 4 of us in the restaurant, so they weren't busy, but instead of cleaning the employees talked to one another or were on their phones. The bathrooms were also pretty disgusting. I eat here all the time. Love the fish tacos. The fish is fried but I order one fish taco. It comes with warm, fresh tortilla chips and that's plenty of food for me. My husband and daughter get huge burritos. Delicious salsa bar. I'd way rather eat here than in the fast casual Mexican chain restaurant in the same shopping center. Food's better. Service is better.
