To say that I am a regular, return customer at Torfab is an understatement! I have gone to Torfab for various problems with 5 different vehicles over the years (and spent probably in the neighborhood of $15-20,000 overall). He and his crew can diagnose just about anything Toyota SUV-related. But the awesome thing is they do a whole lot more than just service - they can come up with creative solutions to unique problems and needs, including building complete expedition vehicles to (sometimes unreasonable) spec. I have an 80-series Landcruiser that Tor has helped me build into the ultimate overland vehicle, but he's also done a headgasket and more routine maintenance on my wife's 100 series, and worked on more than one of my earlier 60-series trucks for all kinds of things. I had to leave a review after my latest experience. This is obviously a niche shop that once you know, you know. Anyhow, I was about to embark on a 1500 mile trip in my cruiser. Two days before I left, I took it to them to refresh the suspension. When i got it back there was an unexplainable and disconcerting clicking noise. I took it back 15 mins before they closed and they proceeded to troubleshoot it for the next two hours. Unable to figure out what was wrong and since I live 1+ hour away they didn't want something catastrophic to happen on my way home or on the drive back up the next day. SO ONE OF THE GUYS LENT ME HIS PERSONAL LAND CRUISER to take home for the night while they worked on mine. This was clearly beyond the already exceptional service I expected. Plus where else am I going to get an 80 series on 35" tires as a loaner? I've only had my truck for a little over a year but these guys have come through again and again with exceptional service and quality work. read more

TorFab is an absolutely amazing shop who takes absolute impeccable care of my 1994 Toyota Landcruiser. The entire shop is 100% customer focused and uber passionate about each and every rig that goes through their door. They take a lot of pride in their work from recommendations to completion of work. They absolutely do not try any upselling and also they are a WEALTH of information on what you may want to consider with respect to maintaining, upgrading, etc. I've done everything from having a baseline inspection on the condition of my TLC to installing LED lights, starter, dual battery system, Air Lockers, you name it. I don't go anywhere else other than this shop when it comes to maintaining my LC. They know my rig, they know their stuff and the entire staff are just a bunch of good people. Glad I found these guys after much research and recommendations from Ih8mud.com and Seattle Cruiserheads. They did extensive work on my '79 FJ40 recently (fuel tank removal and cleaning, all new fuel lines, fuel pump, brake mods, steering refurb, etc.). Not exactly a handy location for me as I live in Issaquah, but well worth the effort. If you have an old cruiser this is the place you've been looking for. read more

These guys really need no review. Word of mouth has spread and that's what brought me in. I've had a lot of cars in my day and a lot of work done. Never had such a frank, easy to understand conversation with a mechanic. Never gotten a bill so low either. Happily flabbergasted. They book out months ahead so I went ahead and made another appointment 3 months out cause I know if I want anything done- this is the only spot I'm ever going to. Owning an older vehicle has it's disadvantages and somehow they just took all the bite out. I already know I've become a 4runner driver for life, they just made me feel tons safer doing it. My experience is the same as everybody else: This is the only place to go if you own a Land Cruiser. They are enthusiasts and know Toyotas. If you have a land cruiser, from fj-40 through fj80 and newer, there is absolutely no other place in the Seattle area to take your vehicle except TORFAB in Mukilteo. I did A LOT of research before bringing my 1985 FJ60 to Tor Slinning and his crew to have some work done. He will be my regular mechanic until she dies. He's going to get a ton of business from me because I'm planning on doing a near-full restoration to turn this car into my daily driver. So far, knuckle rebuild, fixed my oil leaks, fixed my non-firing cylinders (1&2) at idle, rerouted vacuum hose, replaced belts, and tuned up my engine for a very reasonable price. This is by far the best experience I've had with a mechanic. Its hard enough to find a good mechanic, but Tor does GREAT work and is very trustworthy. I took my 4runner in to get lifted and an exhaust installed, and I was billed the amount of hours that I was quoted (which was very affordable). He quoted me almost half of what other places wanted to charge me. I had a few questions for him a few days after I picked up my car, and he answered me promptly. If i need any other work done on my 4runner, this is definitely where I am going. read more

Tor Slinning operates TorFab . Does not stay to quoted prices, I agreed to pay more, work done incorrectly, had to have another shop redo 90% of what he did. I spent $8700 and got near nothing. Tor is a slick talker, perhaps can manipulate customers with zero mechanical knowledge, lesson learned for me. Stay far far away, go to Toyota they actually know how a 1985 Toyota should be. read more
