A good recommendation from Brakes For Less. Two great auto shops next door to each other. Fair prices, no games and friendly staff.

    - Honest,…read moreKnowledgeable, and Refreshingly Transparent** I came to Japanese Auto Care after another shop told me I was looking at either an oil pan gasket leak or -- worse -- a cracked engine block. Understandably worried, I found this shop through reviews and stopped by to ask if they could take a look. Roy, the owner, was genuinely personable from the moment I walked in and agreed to diagnose the problem. A few hours after dropping off my car, I received a call with good news -- there was no oil pan leak and no crack in the engine block. But what really set this shop apart was what came next: Roy sent me a video of the undercarriage so I could see the condition for myself. No guesswork, no upselling, just straight answers backed by visual proof. In a world where it's easy to take advantage of a worried customer, Roy and his team chose integrity instead. That says everything about the kind of shop this is. If you're looking for an auto care shop you can actually trust, look no further. I highly recommend Japanese Auto Care without reservation.

After having our Outback towed to their shop, George helped us throughout the entire process of diagnosing the problem and communicating with us every step of the way. We were shocked to hear from this team that our recent service visit to our dealership did not address our car issue, and charged us a huge premium to have other aspects of the car fixed. Bret's Auto Repair team clearly stated the main issues with the car, and were very transparent about the costs. We were already pleased with this experience. The following day after taking our car home, we encountered another issue that was unrelated to our previous issue that their team fixed. We contacted Bret''s Auto Repair team again and they were extremely accomodating, offering to check out the car again, and finding that there was another issue related to the battery that the dealership did not address at the last service. They then kept our car to work on it, and charged us extremely fair for our troubles. We couldn't be more thankful for Bret's Auto Repair for providing the best care for our vehicle and customer service. I'd advise anyone to check out Bret's Auto Repair for any issues regarding their Subarus before going to their dealership! They will be upfront and transparent, as well as communicate with you the whole way through!

Called them later on that day to figure out what was going on. The confirmed there was a leak in the radiator, and it needed to be replaced, and once they were doing that they would check the Waterpump and see if there is an issue there. Cost to replace the radiator is $1700 dollars. I asked them in multiple ways if they can just repair the leak, or weld it - they said they cant weld it because most radiators are made of plastic ( should raised alarm bells here as they said this because mine is aluminum, not an ounce of plastic on it, proving they didn't check my radiator) and just pushed the need to get the repair while they have the vehicle open and ready to work on. I told them that was out of our budget and they tried lowering it to accommodate us- seemed at the time like a nice thing of them to do. I picked it up, paid a little over $200 for the diagnosis and drove it home. I bought a new radiator for $200 and started to take the old one out, and noticed it was bone dry. So I rented a radiator pressure tester kit for free from Autozone (they get 5 stars) and did a 3 minute test on the pressure for the radiator to find the leak- at 2 psi the radiator cap was squirting water and coolant everywhere (mind you, you don't have to take ANYTHING apart to do this test). I went and got a 10 dollar replacement radiator cap, put it on my radiator, and redid the test to try to find the leak.... and it held at 12 psi without dropping, no leaks found. drove the vehicle around and redid the test, no leaks. held its psi. This test I did involved literally doing nothing other than putting a hand pump into the coolant resevoir and pumping..... and I discovered the source of the leak in less than 3 minutes They had the vehicle for an entire day, confirmed on the phone with me that there was a non-repairable crack in the radiator causing the leak, and that it needs to be replaced for $1700, and when i told them that was too much, tried to get me for less money pushing for the repair. NO matter how I think of it from another perspective or angle, there is literally no way an auto shop can, first, accept a car FOR REPAIR, and then after Having it for a day tell us they dont do the repair we brought the car in for in the first place. BUT furthermore, tell us there is a leak in a radiator that is unrepairable and then say it NEEDS to be replaced for 1700. And it took me, a man who is NOT a mechanic, 3 minutes to find out there is in fact zero leaks in the radiator, and the problem is a damaged cap that costs 10 dollars to replace. I see no way those events happen unless they are trying to screw someone over and scam money. DO NOT TRUST THEM!!!!!

Unfortunately, our last two experiences have been very disappointing. Most recently, I dropped my car off at 8:00 AM to have a front-end suspension issue diagnosed. By 2:45 PM, I had still not received any update, so I called to check on the status. The employee I spoke with seemed unsure of what was going on and told me he needed to check on something. He said he would have more information within an hour and would call me back, but I never received a call. Later, when my father called, we were told that the car had received an oil change, even though we had never requested one. However, when I arrived at the shop, I was then told that no oil change had actually been performed. The conflicting information only added to the confusion and made it difficult to have confidence in the service being provided. This follows another disappointing visit where we were given a repair estimate, but when it came time to pay, the bill was hundreds of dollars higher because a brake job had been left out of the original quote. What makes this especially frustrating is that we have trusted this shop for decades. My father has been a customer since the 1970s, and we continued bringing our vehicles there because of that trust. Unfortunately, the lack of communication, conflicting information, and inaccurate estimates during our last two visits have left us very disappointed.
