Upscale without being stiff, comfortable without losing that polished feel. I ordered the jambalaya, and it was a standout. Well layered flavor, not overly heavy, with a nice balance of spice and richness. The proteins were cooked properly and the vegetables still had structure, which matters in a dish like that. It felt intentional, not just thrown together for a brunch menu. Across the table, the Eggs Benedict was equally strong. The hollandaise was smooth and properly seasoned, not overly lemony or thick, and the eggs were cooked right where they should be. That is often where places miss, but this one didn't. Dessert was where things really elevated. The strawberry cheesecake was clean, bright, and not overly sweet, with a good texture that held together without being dense. The chocolate Rasberry glutin-free dessert torte, was rich in the right way. Deep chocolate flavor without crossing into heavy or overwhelming. Service was attentive without hovering, and timing between courses was well paced, which is not easy on a busy holiday like Easter. Overall, this is a place that clearly pays attention to execution. First time going to Tori Blue at The Bella Vista Hotel across the mall. We went Sunday after church, but before 11:00am. Pretty much empty, but if you don't like crowds, very welcoming. The decor is very nice, casual setting. Brunch menu available. My son and our daughter-in-law and my 18 month old grandson. Immediately given the choice of table with added highchair. We had 2 chicken and waffle plates and 1 shrimp and grits. $16.50 My chicken and waffles were acceptable, but I've had better. Chicken tenders seemed to be overly battered, diced potatoes were fine. $14.50 a plate. Service was good, did not have to wait for anything. Ambiance once again, very nice, clean, no smells. Recommend going and checking it out. Lots of other plates in the brunch menu. read more

We called to make a reservation and quote " You don't need no reservation". This should have been our first clue! As Neil Diamond said " Song Sung Blue" at Tori Blue. Went for a birthday celebration and the waitress must have started this afternoon. She was very inexperienced and uninformed. We arrived at 5 PM. After being told they were out of several items we tried to order, we wondered what would be left for the 7:30PM diners. Food was very salty. We asked for bread for the bread plates on the table. The waitress said she would check and never came back. We asked her at end of meal about the bread and she said, " we don't have no bread". The desserts were very good. Thinking maybe at least one dessert should have been complimentary because of the birthday and lack of choices on the menu. All in all, a very disappointing evening. read more

Restaurant was sparsely populated and we sat for a very long time before being greeted by our server (so long that we went back and asked the hostess who our server was). Server wasn't much help and said she was new. Service was slow and embarrassingly bad. Our food was subpar and nothing to write home about (we didn't even take photos) - the best bite was the Thai Chili sauce Brussels. 3 out of 4 at our table had a that a veg side and everyone liked them! My wife had a the filet, which wasn't very tender. We came for dinner based on advertisement of a James Beard award winning chef. Our lunch group was looking for a place we hadn't tried yet in the Lynchburg Bedford area. Tori Blue caught my eye and so we made a reservation for 11:30. Let me start out by saying the decor is very nice and kind of fancy. (Loved it). We had the most delightful server by the name of isley. She's excellent and 5 stars. The food was very good and all of us decided that we are going back next month. They make delicous cocktails too which is a priority for this group. First time at Tori Blue and I will not be returning unfortunately. Walking in the interior is lovely, but at Friday night at 6:30 pm it was empty, I had a feeling that was a bad sign. Everyone was super nice that we interacted with and we had a very kind server. They asked if we wanted something to drink, I asked if they had a cocktail menu which they replied no because they've changed management and are working on it. I ordered a lemon drop martini and it was good, it just took a long time to come out despite there being four customers in the whole restaurant. We ordered the crispy Thai broccoli and Brussels for our appetizer. That came out pretty quickly and it was delicious! For our entrees I ordered the honey spiced salmon with mashed potatoes and a garden salad. My husband ordered the Tori big bowl Mac with seafood. His looked very appetizing, much more than mine. His dish was tasty. My dish fell apart when I bit into the salmon to find it RAW. I cut more into it to look and the center is just completely raw. The server comes over and asks if it's too under for me, well yes. He takes the plate and reheats my picked apart salmon and just brings it out on a warm plate. The salmon then was more done but still raw pieces. I've had salmon dozens at times at restaurants and have never been served one like this. It seems like they made the sudden shift from trying to be a fine dining restaurant to changing everything to have more "normal prices". When I made the reservation I saw a delicious lobster ravioli that had stunning pictures but when we went there that's when they said there's a new menu and new management. Went for Sunday Brunch last weekend. Knew nothing about it going in, just wanted to try their brunch. I had the Breakfast Bowl w/ steak...excellent and the steak portion was more than expected. My wife had the Eggs Benedict w/ Salmon. Excellent as well. Had a fruit and pastry dish brought to our table and to our pleasant surprise it's complementary! My sister and I went here for a girl's brunch and it was such a great experience! I appreciated the fact that they allow reservations for brunch where most places don't and it eased my mind about having to wait outside to get a table. That being said, yes there were not a lot of customers in the dining room, but it's really what you prefer or make of it. The music added to the ambiance and I personally preferred having a peaceful environment that wasn't too overstimulating for conversation. Erin our server was helpful and friendly. We got the bottomless mimosas, the Mini Cinnamon Bun (which was actually a small pan of 6), the Croque Madame with cheese grits and the Monte Cristo with cheese grits. The grits were INSANE. If you're craving that authentic southern, cheesy deliciousness, they have the best. The sandwiches were quite big and the flavors all added together so beautifully. I do not take it lightly when I have a bad experience at a restaurant. This is clearly very unusual for me. First of all, the restaurant is very nice and clean. It has a "beach" vibe which is not reflected on the menu. To start off, the place was completely empty. A bad sign right off the bat. Second, we were not offered bread or anything else until after our meals were returned. More on that below. I ordered the pork chop with a brown sugar - bourbon sauce. My meal was ready VERY quickly, there is no possible way to properly cook a thick pork chop in the time it took to come to the table. As far as my dish ... the pork chop was RAW, not undercooked, but actually cold to the touch. The potatoes were barely warm, and the sauce was thick and gloppy. I returned it immediately and they refried the chop while melting away all the sauce. Absolutely horrible! My friend also returned his ribeye as it also was essentially raw when he ordered it medium. The service was inexperienced and frankly a bit juvenile in their approach. I blame this on management as they need to train their staff. He seemed like a nice kid. But the service was just hovering over us to the point we were uncomfortable. They tried to make it up by giving a free dessert ... but my pear was not even ripe, lacked flavor, and was presented very poorly. My friend had nothing good to say about the ribeye as well. Ordinary at best. To top all of this off, both of us had bad reactions to food and got ill and were forced to rush back to our hotels. We discovered we had the same reaction at work the following day. I really hate writing a review like this, but the meal was really disappointing on every level. There is a reason the restaurant was empty. Food - 0.5 Service - 1.0 Ambience - 3.0 but it would be higher if they had any customers I generally review with pretty good scores, and I travel extensively. I feel some immediate action is needed at Tori Blue or I recommend total avoidance. The food scene is getting much better in Lynchburg, so you have options. read more

We came in on a Thursday night to try this place out for the first time, and we had a reservation. It was decorated really nicely; felt both cozy and upscale. Everything we had was delicious! We shared the firecracker shrimp and I had the ribeye steak sandwich (the fries were perfect!). And my husband had the lobster ravioli, and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of food he got. We both enjoyed our drinks: I got the twist on a manhattan and my husband got a scotch-based drink. Everything came out pretty quickly and all the staff we interacted with were very nice. And this is not a complaint about the service we got at all, but just part of an honest review - they were not staffed up. They only had one server and one bartender (both of whom were clearly putting in the work), no host/hostess, and then other staff members jumping in to take care of patrons even though it may not have been in their usual job description. read more

Friends of ours who are foodies raved about the place, but I'm wondering if there has been turnover in the kitchen? Alarmingly, I saw a cook walking through the seating area with what looked like, from the backside, something off the shelf at the grocery store (black styrofoam tray, shrink wrapped). This was before our dinner came out. Honestly, the steak tasted like it came from Walmart. My brother who has traveled the world and now resides in Indianapolis said the ribeye was the best he has ever had! My main course was Rockfish and was superb. We started with the Octopus which set the tone for a fabulous evening. Great service from Canter. Dined here last night for date night. We were so excited because the menu looks amazing. We started with the grilled octopus appetizer-- strange textured, not enough seasoning. I then had the lamb chops with gratin potatoes and pea puree-- lamb was decent (why I gave two stars) otherwise this was quite awful. The gratin potatoes were not cooked all the way with the strangest tasting cheese sauce. The pea puree was bland and there was way too much of it on the plate. My husband had the special- scallops and shrimp with risotto. Scallops did not have any kind of sear and were essentially tasteless. Risotto was okay (other reason I gave two stars). Service was "okay". Just not what we expected from a "Michelin starred/James Beard winning chef". read more

After reading reviews and learning that the chef was a Michelin star chef, I expected an incredible experience. What a disappointment. Our food was cold and lacking flavor completely. The waitstaff was exceptional, but we will not be going back. For the amount of money we spent, I expected so much more.
