It was ok for dinner. Edible but nothing to write home about. Soup was bland, tasted canned. No seasoning. Crab cakes fell apart. No taste or flavor. Sweet fries cold. Was able to visit Driftwood Seafood Co. this week during one of their soft opening nights. Due to it being the soft opening, it wasn't very crowded, which meant the amount of service was phenomenal. Abby was very attentive and came to the table frequently to check in and do refills. To start off this dining experience, we ordered the crab bites and a couple of clam chowder. First off, the clam chowder was great. It was one of their special items for the week, so it may not be available every visit. The crab bites were just okay in my opinion. The remoulade they were served with did have a good flavor though. I probably wouldn't order this appetizer again on a future visit. I've had a couple of people tell me to try the hushpuppy basket on my next visit. For the main course, I had jambalaya and would definitely have it again. The sausage, shrimp, and chicken were perfectly seasoned with all the Creole spices you want and expect with jambalaya. The people with me had fish and chips, crab cakes, and the Low Country boil with crab legs. Everyone was pleased with their main courses and agreed that they would come back to try more items. Overall, I would say this was a good new option in Lynchburg that's definitely worth a try, especially if you're a seafood lover. Hi there! Normally I wouldn't be writing food reviews, but I am gonna keep this as professional as possible. We were having a belated Mother's Day out and I never had eaten here and Mom took us here. Unfortunately while the food here is great, we had very long periods of waiting time to get our food either after our drinks to our appetizers to our main course. It was pretty bad and I had gotten really bored after a while. Maybe if there were more staff on shift things could've progressed much better, but as of the making of this post, I wouldn't recommend eating here for now. read more

Tried Driftwood Seafood Co. during their soft opening and we really enjoyed it! I'll miss The Clubhouse, but this feels like a great new addition. The menu has a ton of seafood options, and I plus for us that they clearly mark gluten-free dishes. Service was great--our server Abby took great care of us. We had the fish & chips (crispy and flavorful), crab cakes (really good), clam chowder (fine, not amazing), and corn (would skip next time). Overall though, lots of promise here and I'm excited to come back and try more dishes once they settle in. read more

We waited for food over an hour and a half. Service was horrible. Waitress was very nonchalant. Ordered surf and turf . Lobster was literally hanging out of the shell and was like a piece of rubber. Steak was horribly seasoned. Others in the restaurant were complaining and sending food back. A very bad experience especially for taking my mother for o Mother's Day. read more

Upon walking in the restaurant I was shocked with the appearance. It was very outdated and dirty. The food was very good but overpriced. Service could not have been any slower. One person in our group ordered the house chips which were never served. For the price of the food I would expect a clean updated atmosphere. read more

Corn on Cob was ice cold w melted butter. Oysters were fried hard, and salty. Salad had chunks of red onions instead of sliced and the dressing was warm and salty. I will say the manager Rebecca took care of the issue and asked us to come back and give them another try. Maybe in the Summer when I see more cars in the parking lot. read more

Great service in the bar area. Zoe was fast, conscientious, and friendly. The oysters were on the small side ( time of year)? but were 6 for 8 bucks, so not too bad. The fries, blackened shrimp, and grouper bites had potential, but we're WAY over salted, almost to being inedible. Let the food speak, not the salt! We were seated immediately. Choice of tables or booths. Kinda of worn furniture and our table rocked back and forth. We had Mariah as our waitperson. She was delightful. Menu had happy hour choices, one of which was grouper bites at half price for an appetizer. The grouper bites were fried and cooked perfectly. The regular menu had a wide range of seafood selections. My wife ordered the steamed shrimp, with a side of hush puppies and I ordered the blackened fish tacos that came with one side. I chose chips. We both enjoyed our meals very much. We ate here tonight, 7:15 on a Friday night. Knowing that the owner was connected to the Dahlia, we had high hopes and made a reservation. When we arrived it was obvious that we didn't need one--only one other table was occupied. Although that wasn't a good sign, we also knew the restaurant was new so attributed the small crowd to folks just not knowing about it yet. Our party of three ordered the crayfish cheese bread and crab balls to start; the crab balls were fine but unremarkable, and the crayfish bread was very bland. One person ordered the salmon as their entree; it was somewhat overcooked. My spouse and I both had crab cakes, sweet potato fries, and asparagus. The crab cakes were fine--lots of crab--but inconsistent; one of mine was seasoned and cooked differently than the other. The sweet potato fries were very disappointing--basically frozen sweet potato fries that hadn't been cooked long enough to get crispy; we didn't finish them. The asparagus was overdone but seemed fresh. I specifically ordered the crab cakes because they were $32, exactly the same price as the Dahlia. This meal and whole experience, however, were nowhere near that level. Besides the meh food, the restaurant seemed designed to be more like a fast casual place--think plastic cups rather than glasses and melamine plates rather than real dishes. We didn't have any cocktails this evening, and our bill (with tip) was $180, but this simply was not a $60 per person meal. I do not plan to return. read more

We had read about this seafood restaurant and since we love Embers, we wanted to try this one. We were extremely disappointed. The ambiance was more like a sports bar and the food that we ordered was too over done and tough. The wine was terrible (not even a known label to us). Service was OK but not great. AND the ladies restroom was DIRTY!!! One could not tell when it had been cleaned!!! If one wants good seafood, we would NOT suggest this place. I came here with my family and we had a reservation that we made the day before. It was pretty busy because they had an event going on, and our wait time for our food was just over an hour. The server was very very nice. However, when our food came out the quality was extremely disappointing. I ordered raw oysters for an appetizer and they were mutilated and full of shell shards, as well as they did not taste fresh. My crab legs were over cooked, very small, and stringy. The worst part was how small the portion sizes were especially considering how high the prices are. The bathroom was very clean and pretty. I left feeling very disappointed and my stomach was growling an hour after eating. read more
