    Toro paella

Delicious paella and a lot of food! My husband and I got a pitcher or sangria (careful it's dangerous because it's delicious but strong). This was a fun date night in the city and we really enjoyed everything. The performers were great and the service was great.

Late night Saturday, party of 4, Sat at the bar. The floor was vibrating due to the music at the club downstairs. It was so loud, We were still able to talk and enjoy each other's company. We enjoyed a few tapas off of the menu and a bottle of red wine. The food was delicious and we will definitely be back to try more off the menu as it is vast. So much to choose from. Something to note, there is a speakeasy under this restaurant. Ask the bartenders about it.

We were headed to see Paul McCartney at the Alamodome so decided to stop here for dinner / won't bother returning! I know it was a concert night and they were full - but staff appropriately! It took 25 minutes to get a menu and 40 minutes to get a drink! Had it not been a concert night we would have walked! Cheese and meat plate was okay but generic and like Sysco precuts with sweaty cheese that looked as though it had been sitting out for a while/! Octopus was good, Gambas al Ajillo was tasty but the shrimp was undercooked but both were served with precut stale baguette bread which looked tacky and was not appetizing !The calamari was great!Spanish flags in the food was a bit like National Lampoons European Vacation! Cancelled our final dish as it just took so long we had to get going! Also they have cheap mesh tables and the oil from the dishes was seeping out of the bowls from sloppy plating and service - oil dripped through the table ruining my husband's pants . Finally the outdoor patio has no signage to indicate it's part of the restaurant and diners were constantly interrupted by random tourists trying to take tables which took more of the already short staffs time!! Slow service, food was not good, weird atmosphere Won't return !

Ambiance was good. It's a small restaurant so reservations are a good idea. We had the pasta, meatballs and rabbit. They were all good but the rabbit was just bones so I would skip it next time. The only issue was that we asked for all meals including the apps to be served all together and of course it wasn't so shall the table ate first and 30 minutes later the other half received their meals. The live music made up for the major disregard.

Visiting from out of town and wanted to experience some food diversity in the city off the riverwalk. We chose to have some tapas and it was very nice! We got a pitcher of house red sangria which definitely had 4-5 glasses worth of drinks along with 4-5 tapas. Apparently the paella here is amazing but we decided to keep things alight since it was lunch. The restaurant was not crowded, especially since we were the only ones there at 12 on a Sunday but I'm sure it gets busier. There looked to be a small stage setup for live music.

I'm so glad I accidentally discovered this spot while walking downtown. The service was truly exceptional and the food was so delicious. I also loved the decor and ambiance. Good music! Below is my rating on the goods I tried: *Octopus ceviche: 4/5 - very flavorful and well prepped just a little salty *Shrimp & Chorizo Montadito: 5/5 *Pay de Queso (Cheesecake): 5/5 - hands down best I've had *Paella Marinera: 4/5 - great flavors but needs more protein

Food: spent about $315 * Jamón Ibérico ($22): delicious * Albóndigas ($10): 3 small meatballs with a nice sauce * Dátiles al Tocino & queso ($15): 3 bacon-wrapped, cheese-stuffed dates--very good * Pulpo a la Gallega: flavorful * Toro Paella ($34): shrimp, mussels, chicken, calamari--really good Service & Atmosphere: Service was just okay. A server repeatedly tried to take our plates while we were still eating and gave some attitude when we said we weren't done. The space is cute with nice music, but seating is tight. My chair was uncomfortable, and our table wobbled until a waiter fixed it. The restroom only had one stall, and the toilet paper was oddly placed on the handicap bar. Overall: Great food, but service and comfort could definitely be improved.

I was invited here for a birthday and I do remember that I have seen this place before sometimes downtown, but I've never actually had it until that day and man it was so good reminded me of the good tapas from Spain and it did not miss. Service was there but the environment was nice even had a singer! Paella was delicious.

It was an amazing experience, great romantic ambiance, staff shared amazing recommendations and was very informative. The food was extremely full of flavor and did not disappoint. Highly recommend when visiting San Antonio- The live music was a bonus

Prior to this visit, I had only ever been to Toro happy hour for sangria pitchers and tapas. This time, we decided to have a full dinner and I'm so glad we did! Our dinner experience was perfect from beginning to end. We came around 5 PM on a Friday and had the whole restaurant to ourselves. We started with wine and a cheeseboard. The cheeseboard was unique and flavorful, each cheese was cut up and soaked in oil and seasoning. We really enjoyed it! Next we had the solomillo, which was to die for. It was grilled tenderloin complimented by grilled onions and shishito peppers. So tasty-- I'm craving this as I type. Last, we had the signature paella which didn't disappoint. Great flavor and a good portion for two if you get appetizers. My only complaint is that while the shrimps were attempted to be deveined, there was still about half of the vein still remaining. Next time I plan on trying the solomillo and chistorra paella. We will be back soon!

My mom and her family are from Spain. Cindi and I go to Spain every summer for 3-5 months. When I'm back in San Antonio.... and I get that Espana craving, we go to Toro Kitchen downtown. They have several locations now. Some of the places have "spin offs" of tapas and the meals. Toro keeps it real. Sangria, Spanish beer, liquor 43, Spanish wines, the hanging hog legs (yes hog legs) and ask them to demonstrate the Porron for you - Ole, A Spanish wine drinking vessel. Service always super, and if it's a special night you can ask for the private window room, great ambiance. TIP try the 43 on the rocks, it's a sipper. Also, good with coke. In Spain they also put in Coffee.... ask them about the 43 and coffee ON FIRE! Second tip, the Paella takes 20-35 minutes to make, just keep that in mind when you are ordering. On point seafood Paella and few other styles.

I was in town for work. San Antonio always deliver for me. This is a great place for chill meal. The menu has enough options to accommodate a variety of taste buds. I went with a friend that is half Spanish, that has been here in the past. He ordered the black paella, which I have never heard nor taste before. I had a lot of paellas in my life, and this one is just something else. Don't let the look deceive you. If you are like me, and like to try new things that you have never before, this is the plate and the place. They had a great happy hour at the time of my visit, the tapas were great and the prices are extremely reasonable. The ladies serving were a joy as well. I appreciate good service and I would definitely recommend this place. See you next time I'm in San Antonio. Keep it up

Nice location nestled downtown .. Street and city parking. We sat at the bar for happy hour ... thoroughly enjoyed the mezal margarita and coconut mijotos. The bartender was helpful and efficient. We tried several tapas ... the fried goat cheese and the steak bites were very tasty!!! The goat cheese was drizzled with honey, and the steak bites were tender. The stuffed sweet red peppers was little boring as the filling needed more flavor. Cant wait to go back.

Service was A+++ food is made to order and came out fresh and hot. Food came out pretty fast. * sangria 4/5: good and refreshing * pulpo Gagello - 5/5 fun fact from Antonio they use 40 cork screws to boil with the octopus to get it tender. The acid from the cork screws tenderize the octopus. With that said... that's why this was most tender octopus I've ever had. Potatoes were pillowy and melt in your mouth. The perfect bite is a must eat the octopus with the potatoes. Perfectly seasoned pairing. * hola paella - 5/5 the best paella we had. It's more liquidity and no crispy rice on the bottom but the flavor was like wow! I didn't think I would like the chicken in it but I loved it. Fried fish, Shrimp, squid, scallops, mussels, clam, and chorizo sausages were all really good. The squid was over cooked and chewy but that was minor. The seafood stock was flavorful and the little green peas added to the paella. Must try * escargot - 5/5 best seller, and now I understand why, it's a flavor explosion in your mouth with the toast. Escargot was delicious! Citrusy buttery hint of spicy and well balance. Must try! Even a dining guest with me that doesn't like escargot and tried it for the first time loved it! Dip that toast and top it with escargot and be prepare to be mind blown! * tuna tartare - 5/5: super refreshing with the mango and guacamole. The chip was thin and crispy and perfect. I just wish they gave 4 chips have enough to eat the tuna tartare. It only came with 2 chips. Fresh tuna and not fishy. It was a great dish to have since it was so hot outside. Cooling dish! Must try * pinche de carnes: 4/5: the flavor of the beef with the chimichurro sauce and the creamy sauce was so good! The two sauces elevated this dish! I have no idea how the meat came out tender yet chewy. It took a while to chew it. Maybe it's the cut of meat or cookery? It didn't look like it had a good sear on it. It was still good and I think 3 skewer was good proportion. All of the dishes were really all phenomenal! Each dish had its own flavors and complemented one another. This dinning experience was like a symphony in your mouth! Each dish held its own and it was so pleasurable to try a little bit of everything then come back to it again. Like wow! I am so impressed with this place! Would I recommend this place? If you are visiting SA, this place is a must try! The proportion is shareable size and you definitely will be leaving full. Highly recommended! We can't wait to come back and try the other items on the menu along with the tres leche! Thank you Antonio for making our experience really amazing! From the moment you approach the restaurant- Not even walk in- you are greeted by a professional and hospitable staff. In the front 2 young workers gave us sangria samples and helped take my photo. So smiley and kind. Then I checked into my table at the host stand. Our table was in a gorgeous lit room by the stairs. The inside was so breathtakingly beautiful and clean . The restrooms as well. Our server Omar quickly filled our drink cups with cold water and took our actual drink order. They have premium lemomades and also fountain drinks with free refills. When he returned he gave us great recommendations from their 8 dollar tapas menu on happy hour (M-F 3-6). We ordered 3: Tacos de Cochinita Pibil / Slow cooked pork marinated in achiote sauce . Calamares Fritos / Fried steak calamari w/ alioli sauce ... Albondigas / Five Spanish pork meatballs marinated in wine tomato sauce with bread .... The bread with the meatballs should be toasted and it was cold. The calamari were AMAZING. Not chewy at all. And tacos unique and flavorful. It took a while to decide but with Omar's guidance and a lot of research beforehand, I reccomend large parties order these to get the best tasting experience: Parrillada Española / Spanish grilled feast with morcilla, 4oz Spanish sirloin, chistorra, three fried jumbo shrimp, and poached potatoes with alioli Toro Paella / Toro's Classic recipe voted best in San Antonio! Jumbo shrimp, mussels, chicken, calamari, pork belly & spanish chorizo . The grilled platter came out first very fast and the meats were delectable. Love the sausage. Again... toast the bread but everything else was delicious. The paella didn't take long at all. It lived up to our expectations. Delicious and hot, enough to fill us up with whatever room was left. The nicest part was Omar brought us complimentary shots of some sort of strawberry cocktail with a chili rim. He was so thoughtful and brought my sister who was 12 a non alcoholic version. We cheered to a good time. It was so good!!! Then we asked for dessert recommendations. Omar suggested the Torrijas / Classic spanish dessert, bread soaked in sweet cream, fried & drizzled in honey .. so that's what we got. It was SO yummy like tres leches French toast. With their website you get a 30 dollar off first visit coupon using the inkind app. I signed up and it worked perfectly. After the discount all that food came out to $150. Insane for a party of 5. I tipped 30 and using that inkind app got 30 dollars cash back to use anywhere on the app. But ill use it here. Come to TORO for a great time. Linger. Talk. Enjoy unique flavors. It seems like reservations are encouraged. At every visit, the servers greeted me with water and asked for my dietary preferences. You can tell that the servers all work together as I had other servers stop by to pack up my food and refill my water. I do love how they offer to pack up my leftovers and do so very nicely. 1st visit: My server was a sweetheart, very attentive, and super nice! I made reservations for 5PM on a Friday. I was one of the first to arrive, but the restaurant quickly filled up. I opted for the Mezas De Alegria, the server brought out Tirshi, Roasted Cabbage, Steamed Red Snapper, and Olive Oil Cake! All were very tasty, my favorites being the Tirshi and Steamed Red Snapped! I also ordered the Greek Wine flight, I enjoyed the Troupis wine best! Out of all of my dining experiences, this was by far my favorite! 2nd visit: My server was also attentive and kind. This time, I didn't make a reservation, I just walked in but was able to be seated at 11AM on a Sunday. I opted the for Turkish Brunch and the Mint Limonada, and they were able to accommodate my dietary preference! Everything was good once again, my favorites were the Grilled Olive and Tomato Salad, Fire Roasted Peppers, and Shakshuka. The Mint Limonada was too sweet for my preference, I had to water it down with some water. 3rd visit: My most recent server was very sweet and kind but wasn't as attentive. I made reservations for 5PM on Friday. She got held up by a table nearby a couple of times. I tried items from the Culinaria Restaurant Week Menu (Armenian Salad, Texas Waygu Kebabs, and Local Fruit Sorbet) Everything was soo good and flavorful. I really enjoyed the Armenian Salad. The Texas Waygu Kebabs were good, but a little chewy for my preference. They were cooked about Med-Well/Well done, though I prefer my beef to be cooked Medium, but I wasn't asked about my preference. I also wasn't given a steak knife and tried to wait for my server, but she was with another table for a while. I had to use my butter knife... The Local fruit sorbet was very refreshing and a light dessert to end my evening. Overall, great experiences, flavor-packed food! I enjoy Mediterranean food, so I'll be back to try more items off their menu!

Or something a bit classier. Service was mediocre, a bit overbearing to be honest with multiple pushes for us to order more. We tried the butternut squash dip, the spicy feta, the hummus, roasted corn and the lamb ribs. We also got 2 spitz and 2 beer. Total for four people with tip was about 95 bucks which is fair. We had a vegetarian at our table so they brought out veggies to dip as well which was nice. My favorite was the roasted corn and the surprisingly the feta. It was enough to be full. Lamb was fatty but flavored nicely.

It is odd that there is not one tv at their bar (in case a hubby wants to watch a sports game lol) but I get it's not the vibe. Their brunch is ok but the price is not worth it. It's over $30 if you want the meat and things like cereal , bagels , and juice. Half the price if you only want the basic cereal yogurt and bagels. I would not recommend the brunch to anyone unless they are strictly going for the view. The view and vibe are stunning. The daytime vibe is much different than the nighttime so I highlyyyy recommend going for dinner and drinks. Make a reservation because it gets crowded. The coffee bar that's there early in the morning , which is probably more for the hotel guests because it's not open for long, was kind of a let down! I had the kindest barista that was easy to talk to. However half of their menu wasn't available because there was no matcha and apparently there hadn't been in weeks which is so unfortunate. They have tons of potential and have the right staff, so hopefully they fix that soon!

Great night, sky and cityscapes, but you're not facing anything that is particularly beautiful to look at. That said, the outdoor area of this sky. High bar is very nicely appointed with great music and nice views. I did not have any cocktails just go round. I just had a beer and all that was great. We had great service and I decided to try the crispy chicken Cobb salad. Now for those of you that are old enough to remember the "real men of genius" Bud Light commercials I refer you to the inventor of the giant taco salad... There is an outdoor seating area as well with views of downtown. We sat outside, so to order food you have to go to the inside bar. I ordered a mojito, veggie tacos, and the shrimp and artichoke dip. Found seating outside and vibed to the live DJ playing latin music. Food took awhile to come out but we weren't in a rush. The tacos weren't anything to write home about and could've used some spice. The chips served with the dip were crispy and light and yummy. The dip had a decent amount of shrimp and I enjoyed it. The ambiance is giving upscale lounge but the fact that there is no table service outside, it feels like a basic bar. Im not sure if there is table service inside. The DJ really set the vibe for the place. Im not sure if I wouldve enjoyed myself had the DJ not been there.
