This is a busy place! That's always a good sign! We stopped in for a couple drinks on a Thursday. They have an awesome selection of wine and a really great menu of apps, boards, salads and sandwiches. Postino, you're like that objectively attractive but utterly unreliable friend. My Wednesday night visit found the place busy, but not excessively so for a mid-week jaunt. A good, energetic hum. For the main event, we had the Cabernet Sauvignon and the skewers, both of which were excellent. Definitely, something to write home about! However, the signature bruschetta board was just okay. It did the job, but it wasn't a "knock your socks off kinda wow." A disappointing reality after such promising wine and skewers. The Real Drama: Service Here's where the four stars feel generous. The service was subpar. Almost absent. Our server seemingly mastered the art of camouflage. I'm not asking for constant hovering, but getting almost any service felt like negotiating a minor treaty. We sat down at the table which was dirty and the appetizer plates showed its ugly little face as one served dirty and one clean. When we finished our food and after a duration that could reasonably be considered a short film we finally had a server stop to ask how our food was. The answer was, almost gone. The Takeaway Postino, you have a lovely patio and excellent wine/skewers and lovely outdoor heaters. You're a solid C+ student in the San Antonio dining class. The atmosphere gets five stars, the service gets a stern talking-to but definitely not a "go stand in the corner" because they are already there instead of delivering the backed up drinks waiting at the bar. I recommend it for wine and a low-stakes evening, provided you have excellent patience. I'll bring a flag with my order written on it next time, just in case. read more

Our first night in San Antonio and we were looking for a cool new spot to try and we landed on Postino. Now I'm just sad we're leaving since there's no Postino in Vegas! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a bustling ambiance and were immediately brought over to a table. It was pretty busy for a Monday night, so be sure to make a reservation beforehand. Our server, Grace, was so lovely! She was super kind and explained the menu and checked up on us several times. We got a bunch of stuff to share, but the standouts were the Bruschetta Board and the Crispy Cauliflower. The Bruschetta Board is such a great idea, and each one we tried was unique and tasted amazing. For our 4 choices we got the French Onion, Warm Artichoke, Smoked Salmon and the chefs selection which was Beets Cheese with candied Pecans. Wow. I was obsessed!! The beets were my personal favorite, but we each enjoyed all of them. And they cut it up for the table which was such a good touch. The Crispy Cauliflower was outstanding. It was loaded with sauce underneath and the cauliflower was warm and soft as you cut through it. Really delicious! They also had a great variety of lemonade "mocktails" which was nice to see. I opted for the Blackberry Smash, which I believe was a blackberry arnold palmer. It wasn't too sweet and was super refreshing! Overall, our experience was amazing thanks to the out of this world food and consistent service. Next time we're in Texas, we're definitely coming back! read more
