He pretty much knew what I wanted as far as fixing the damage without painting, so we were on the same page. After a few days and having talks with other auto body shops, I decided on Torrance Auto Body. They did a fantastic job of straightening out the panel. Replacing the stainless trim over the wheel well was going to be my task since parts are no longer available. My husband recently discovered his new (to us) GMC had been sideswiped overnight on our street. Sometimes 5-stars just doesn't cover it. Long story short our daughter got a brand new 2024 Prius. Not even six weeks (still with paper plates!) She was in a Hit & Run. Taking the right front fender and bumper. AAA tow showed up while I was on good ol Yelp researching where to have it taken. Between the two places that looked good the Tow driver suggested Torrance Auto Body over the other. Good call! These folks are amazing, starting with the reassurance the damage was only 'cosmetic' not structural. They kept us up to date during the entire process. Even the eye-ball estimate was darn close. Regardless that I live up in Ventura, if I were in need of any body work I won't even consider going anywhere else. If I couldn't drive the vehicle there I'd pay for the tow. Recently I had TWO more of my cars (Toyota and a Lexus) repaired at Torrance Auto Body. The paint work was flawless and I am super picky as I'm a car guy and have restore many cars. I don't normally give bad reviews, but Dave (owner) certainly earned this one. He and I had what seemed to be a good relationship, as I was one of his first few customers following the shop opening and continued to take vehicles to him to include a few work vehicles. One of the vehicles he repaired, or repaired poorly was my 1963 Lincoln Continental, which is in very nice condition. He was tasked with painting the hood as part of an insurance claim and I paid out of pocket for two doors to be repainted. When I received the car things looks pretty good, but that was with a buff and wash etc. Upon the first time washing the car, I noticed more orange peel (a result of poor cut & buff) on the hood then I've ever seen on a car and I've been around cars for over 20 years (good, bad and otherwise). What's more, one of the doors he painted began to bubble in one corner a few months following me picking the car up. I notified Dave of the orange peel initially and was put off and circled back with him a month or so later about the bubbling. Again I was put off and he claimed he was a newer business and trying to get things in order, so I obliged. Months went by and I was put off again and again. Months turned into a year. At this point my patience had worn a bit thin, I began to call him weekly and week after week I was told by Dave "I've got too many cars at the moment and I need to get some moved out before I can get yours in." This went on for about two months and I finally told him that in that amount of time he surely moved some cars out and was likely moving other in, just not mine because there's no money to be made in fixing the mess he caused with my car like there is with bringing in new jobs. After this, Dave flew off the handle like some bratty kid, and said "F**k it, F**k it, bring the car in Monday and we'll be done with this, I'm over this S**t." I struggled to understand how he was getting angry at me for putting me off for over a year as a result of his shops suboptimal work and me calling him out on such. This says a lot about the man's character. At any rate, I brought my car in on that Monday (I also found it interesting that all of a sudden there was space for my car), and by Friday Dave calls me to pick up the car. I get there and on the hood he again was tasked with fixing, there was now three hairline cracks in the paint. This area contained the worse of the orange peel. I showed this to Dave and he agreed this was not right and peeled of the paint that was compromised due to the cracks and agreed to fix the issue. Dave calls me the following Tuesday and informs me that the car is ready, I go to look over the car as I could not pick it up until the following day and see that touch paint was used to repair a very visual part of a fully restored black 1963 Lincoln Continental (see picture provided), yes you heard that right, touch up paint. It goes without saying but the repair (if you can call it that) looked like something my son could perform in the dark blindfolded. I told Dave that this was not satisfactory for any car, and most certainly, not this one. He again went on a tangent, calling me picky, pointing out anything he could on my car and told me he would not be fixing anything else. He went on to say I could take him to small claims court and when I asked him, why do all that, can't we just handle it here and you honor your work? He replied he would not touch the car and would PAY THE COST FOR ANOTHER SHOP TO PERFORM THE REPAIR and to get a few different quotes because he was done! I agreed to that as it was clear at this point that he was unfit for the job and I asked if he would put it in writing when I picked the car up the following day, which he agreed he would. The following day (today) I go to pick up the car and ask Dave for the writing agreement he agreed to provide and he tells me he never said he would do such a thing. I reminded him again of what he said just the day before and the cowered again, denied it and told me to take him to small claims court, which I fully intend to do. It's disappointing that we built what initially seemed like a good relationship but once he was called on to be accountable for his actions/suboptimal work, like the cowered he proved himself to be, he fell flat on his face, rather than manning-up. read more

After reviewing each one I chose TAB because of their reputation and willingness to deal with a older auto which can be difficult to find parts. I just happened on this place and asked if they could repair my Genisis, after having been given estimates of $2800 to do the job by another place. I'd put the repair on hold. The back bumper and one side runner of the car had been celophaned by the previous owner and the celophane was peeling and looked awful. Torrance Auto Body quoted me less than half the other place did to replace it all riding me of the celophane completely (thank goodness), which included my pearlized paint which is, apparently, more of a process, completed the job just as promised AND RETURNED MY CAR LOOKING LIKE IT HAD BEEN DETAILED INSIDE AND OUT! The first time I met David, I knew I was in great hands. I went to get an estimate for damage to my truck. I walked into the office and he immediately greeted me with a smile and asked how he can help me. David immediately made me feel at ease and started to explain the extent of the damage and how it can be fixed.
