They have a points-based program (no idea how it works, but I guess I had a few), and there are sales constantly... My favorite is the jeans sale. Try on a pair of jeans and get $5 off ANY purchase. YES, that's all you have to do! If you purchase the jeans, you get $10 off. Most of the time, it's Buy 1, Get 1 50% off from the clearance section. I never find much from there since the smaller sizes are pretty picked over. Prices are in line with other mall stores like Lane Bryant. Torrid is one of those stores I visit semi-regularly but wonder, "Am I too old to shop here?" However, everything here is quite stylish and they have a great variety of skirts, dress pants, blazers, and dresses. I LOVE their dresses. In my opinion, the styles are aimed at women 16-25, and plus size (obviously). I'm pushing 30, so sometimes I question whether or not I really need ANOTHER graphic t-shirt or if some of the more cartoon-y things are age-appropriate. I like that their smallest size isn't technically a plus size (12). I dance a fine line between the largest size on the regular racks, and the smallest size on the plus racks. Torrid sizes their clothing differently though. Starting at Size 0 and ending at Size 4. I'm not sure what the logic is behind the sizing, since women's clothing sizes are already trivial numbers dubbed vanity sizing, but whatever. Basically, Torrid sells a curvy size 12 up to a size 28. Try stuff on, and you will figure it out! Also worth noting: their shoes are wide-width, and their bracelets and rings are bigger. None of this helps me at all, but I know some gals who fret over the lack of wide width shoes elsewhere. Anyway, I like the Fox Valley location because the employees are mostly enthusiastic and genuinely friendly. They are always willing to bring you another size in the fitting room and are informative about their sales. I always feel comfortable and welcome here.

The managers are bullies. I reported harassment to my store manager on several occasions and nothing was done about it. There were instances of another co-worker using the n word and nothing was done about it. I can promise you that they are not there to help. They will complain about you and mock you the second you leave the store. Edith, Kari and Pelnice should be held accountable, and Edith and Kari in particular should be fired for creating and maintaining such a hostile work environment. I left at the same time as 4 other employees and I am so glad that I did. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. Protect your energy.

The ladies at Torrid will help you find those perfect must-have items for your wardrobe that flatter your figure and help you look fabulous! Now I know that some have commented on the fact that the clothing appears to be geared more towards a Gothic look, but I think if you dig a little deeper one will find that the clothing is more retro than goth. Every piece of clothing is subject to the interpretation of the owners own personal style and flare. Dress things up or down as you'd like. Being that I've lost some weight I am having a hard time finding my size (1x is more common that I previously knew) in the items I like but if need be the associates will check other stores and get that item transferred for you. To begin with, upon walking in, I was immediately greeted, warm and genuinely, by both associates. The store was very neat, and well put together. For what from the outside appeared to be a relatively small store front, I was pleasantly surprised at the wide amount and different variety of clothing there was to choose from. I'm not a great shopper. I'm more used to wearing old bleach stained shirts with(unintentional holes). I was a bit out of my element, and slightly embarrassed. Both woman made me feel immediately welcome and at ease. They started by asking me some questions about my general style (non-existant)and what I thought I'd feel comfortable in. They both got to work pulling various items, like experts, with ease, and neatly placing them in a dressing room. They helped me through out the entire process. My one and only little downside, was I did feel the cost of the clothing was quite pricey. Unfortunately, that will keep me from being able to frequent the store as frequently as I truly would like. I was taken aback when this store first opened and I visited with my mom. They had a lot of goth…read morelolita type apparel, for plus sized beauties. I didn't find anything to purchase back then, but I'm very glad I checked in again recently to get a pair of the best v-neck (without those silly shelf bras) cotton stretch camis. Very awesome and a total staple for me. They followed up my purchase with some fab deals on their website so I'm stocking up on these great wardrobe staples. They have their own sizing format where size 0 is 12-14 and 1 is 16-18 and so on... so it takes a little bit of research, perhaps on their website ahead of time, to figure stuff out...though the ladies who work there are happy to give a helping hand too. Not only that but I found out that they have a free shopper card club with discounts and all kinds of good stuff. Very cool shop for young'ins as well as others looking for wardrobe staples (you never know unless you look, right?). I'm very happy.
