I just love this vineyard and the great wines they produce. The land has an interesting history as jessie james used it As his hideout! Wow

Stopped by @ oso libre this January on my mom's trip . It was an amazing experience. We enjoyed all the wines but our favs are Chardonnay, patron, and carnal . Our highlights were learning about the history of the winery, trying wines outside of the menus, awesome customer service and singing . We will definitely be returning. Extra bonus are the events they host on the property. We wish we could have stayed for the chili this weekend.

Beautiful property offered a relaxing view while sipping wine

We were fortunate enough to visit during a quiet time, so wine tasting felt like a private experience! We sat outside overlooking the property and were greeted by a friendly, knowledgeable hostess who educated us on all things wine-making. Food isn't provided for purchase, BUT they have a fun little convenience cooler with cheeses and meats to pair with your wine tasting experience. The grounds were both kid and pet friendly, which is always a plus for families who don't want to miss out on central coast wineries during their visit to the area. BONUS: The kiddos really enjoyed visiting the animals on the property!

This gem of a vineyard definitely caught my eye and taste buds! I immediately fell in love w the wine, the vineyard and view as well as the staff. I loved it so much, i joined the wine club! I was fortunate enough to meet the owner and he was super friendly and welcoming. But the view...the view is incredible! You can take a bottle and sip while you overlook the gorgeous vineyards! Definitely check them out! Beautiful drive there!

100/100 if I can rate this place more than 5 stars I would. First of all, Everyone here is friendly, EVERYONE! I first came here with my husband at the beginning of 2020 on a birthday trip. I saw this place and made my husband divert from our original route to stop by. I was not disappointed at all. I love Bordeaux wines and if you're like me I recommend you come here, you will not be disappointed at all! The second visit here a few months later we decided we needed to become members, every single wine we tasted we loved so much. We left this winery with 6 wines that same day. Less than 4 days later my husband ordered 4 more online to be shipped to our home. Primaroso, Querida, Quixotic, Reserva. All of those are top notch, we have multiples bottles of the same wine in our home. Our last visit just recently was probably our best! We were helped by Zuri or Zuridia and she definitely understood us, she was knowledgeable, attentive and very personable. She had a way to make us feel at home and honestly that how we feel every visit. It is our home away from home. I can't rave enough about how great this place is and we are truly happy to have found a place in Paso Robles that we truly enjoy and can come back every visit. Zuri, thanks for everything you're magnificent and hope to see you again very soon!

Excellent wines! Beautiful property. Kid and dog friendly. A lot of animals on propertyuMake a reservation. Also, order the charcuterie board when you make a reservation. It looked delicious, but you have to pre-order.

If you are wanting to step into old world flavors, this is the spot! This was my favorite winery in Paso Robles. Great experience provided by Quintin in the tasting room. So many great, intentional flavors.

Lovely tasting room and a picturesque vineyard, but we went on Sunday, September 15th, and very underwhelmed by the lack of attention by the staff member in the tasting room. True, he was working solo, but did basically the bare minimums with us, but found a lot of time to chat and accommodate a local couple that were members who arrived a few minutes after us. I also was a bit disappointed seeing a tray of cheeses on the counter behind him and not being offered any, ev though it was our first visit to the winery and even after we purchased 2 bottles of wine. We actually almost regretted making the purchase based on the interaction. FYI, the website makes it appear as if they an array of animals on site, but other than the 4 beautiful alpacas, we only saw a few sheep grazing.

The winery is stunning. One of the best landscapes in Paso. Very nice views. Definitely shows off the best of west side paso. The winery itself has some awesome art on the walls. Very cool spot. The person who served us was solid and attentive and worked to our timing to get next winery. Also had some knowledge of other wineries which was nice to hear. Wines unfortunately didnt live up to my expectations. The roussanne was good a good start but my palate didn't connect with the reds very well. The 2018 Gernache was downright awful. The last two reds were good but nothing worth taking home unfortunately. With all the good reviews I was hoping my palate would experience what other had experienced. As with all wine reviews I do, I will always encourage people to try this winery for themselves as its a small business and we need to do all we can to support them. Give them a try and I am glad we tried it out.

The tasting room was named one the top #19 wineries in Architectural Digest (August 2018) in the WORLD! And #2 of the top #19. Now that's amazing and well deserved! Lacey was our tasting room host and she was wonderful! She knew all the history and well described the wines. She didn't rush us and encouraged us to relax, wander around, and enjoy the tastes. We were on the fence about one of the wines, and she offered us an older vintage so we would know how it would taste in 10 years! That worked! We were very impressed with their wines and they definitely sell themselves! The inside is very roomy and comfortable. There is also seating with nice views, should you want to relax outside. Definitely have added Epoch to our list of wines to buy and places to visit for future Paso trips!

We flew in (!!!) to the airstrip on the property, where we were then given a short ride to the main winery. Landing here requires advanced notice and some paperwork, but wasn't too much of a hassle. We started off with the wine tasting - I enjoyed every wine I tried, especially the rose and CDP. The pours were pretty generous and they let us re-visit our favorite, which was nice. We also split the charcuterie board and chicken sandwich. The charcuterie was alright, but nothing amazing. Same for the chicken sandwich, overall pretty good but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat it here. The service was really great, and we enjoyed walking around the property after lunch. Not much of a winery tasting type, but the beautiful property and professionalism at Halter Ranch…read morewas very memorable. Just the drive up to HR was wonderful, rising higher and higher up the mountain to reach the place. I was jokingly telling my wife trying to be snooty, I don't drink wine from the lower elevation Paso, lol! Super large estate with such a beautiful building for indoor and outdoor seatings. Was amazing just driving up the property to the tasting room. Had made reservation online ahead of time, since was in Paso to check out the sensorio thing on a Saturday in mid March. Don't think I've really been to winery to do tasting, but this was one place I wanted to come to after tasting their "Ancestor" at inlaw's house over a year ago. They had gotten the bottle from their neighbors who must be club members. All I remember was it was one of the best wines I've had. I'm a cheap wine drinker, but things like the stag's Artemis and halter ranch Ancestor just leave lasting impressions in my mind. Checked in with the gentleman at the host stand in the beautiful building. Everything so clean and nice here. Chose to be seated outdoors on the beautiful day. It was quite crowded and busy with folks enjoying food and wines. Ms. Kristie was our server and she was fantastic! Working multiple tables with bottles in hands for all the tastings happening. She was super friendly and accommodating and helpful with explanations of each wine and so energetic to manage every table! Her energy helped stave off the fatigue from driving 4 hours since morning and the food coma from lunch before arriving. We already had lunch so opted for just the olives with the tastings of Ranch and Silver to maximize tasting all the different wines. Initially requested Ranch for both of us, since I expected to get 2 bottles of the wonderful ancestor to get one tasting waived. Shortly after, I noticed ancestor was also considered part of the silver label wines, so switched one to Silver flight (thought maybe ancestor was not silver, since it was part of the ranch flight, but Ms. Kristie said it's just on both flights since it's their signature wine). The olives were very salty, maybe should be rinsed out of it's brine before to reduce the salt. I expected olives to be from HR, but olives are not, and I guess just the olive oil in is is (on the olive oil later). Maybe the sourdough would have been better since it's served with the olive oil, but was just too full from lunch. After tasting all the wines from both flights, for my novice taste buds, I think Halter Ranch is just a master of blends! I actually preferred the blends over the single grape variety wines. Suspected as such after tasting the ancestor before, but my plans to get 2 bottles of ancestor went out the door once I tasted the Cuvee Alice! Wow, so smooth and complexity in depth, instantly scrambled my brain of thinking I came solely for the Ancestor. Ms. Kritie explained the Cuvee Alice was named after the owner's mom. That made perfect sense! It was a wine deserving of owner's pride, what a wonderful wine! Doubt came over me, now maybe I have to step up to buying the Cuvee Alice instead of Ancestor? Can't get better than the Cuvee. But the final round of Ancestor showed off why it's their signature wine, still was so wonderful, and couldn't make up my mind since I love the Ancestor, but I could not imagine not enjoying Cuvee again. Ended up splitting my decision and got a bottle of each to make sure I can have both again! Will introduce inlaws to the Cuvee since we all had Ancestor before. And will have Ancestor for my dad on Father's day then so I can have it then to see if I can decide then which is my fav, or just both :) On the way out, saw the bottles of olive oil by the entrance. Got tastings and loved it, wow! Some "real" olive oil! I preferred the ancestor over the tuscan. Wife got a bottle the Picual olive oil. It is so smooth with delightful flavors and a wonderful bitter bite to it. It's too good and pricey to use for food, so we just take a spoonful daily like a super antioxidant supplement! Already getting low on the bottle... These wines and olive oils are way above my pay grade, but why gotta be so good. Maybe I need to ask inlaw neighbor if they are club members to order me some:) I noticed there is a HR in Temecula closer to home...

There are way better wineries in Paso like Daou and Sculpterra. The people there care for your experience and every wine you taste is great and doesn't change with every sip. This place mostly was focused on extracting money. I went there because they were recommended by so many friends to me. That's probably where they are lucky. That's why people visit them and because they are so hyped the person visiting has to also like them. The employees here are not motivated enough to be nice or attend the guests properly during the end of the day. The lady on the front desk in front of the entry was super rude. In a 3 mins conversation she mentioned at least 4 times how they were about to close and they are unable to provide us anything except the wine tasting. We had an appointment for 3:30 and the winery closes at 5:00. I would have understood if it was 4:30. I was celebrating my birthday and I mentioned it. It literally meant nothing to her and she never mentioned it in her notes while she mentioned that they will do a chocolate flight with a candle. The guy who helped us with our wine tasting was good but visibly tired. He tried his best. Even arranged a charcuterie board for us. He did mention they were about to close but that made sense. He was genuinely happy to see us when we went inside to pay. The only good deed done to us was asking us if we needed waters for the road. Also I liked the breezy fan feature. The wines are not very appealing. A lot better can be done with the taste, recipes and fermentation process. The prices are very high for the experience and the wines. Next day we went to another winery with Amazing views. They were so welcoming and warm and the moment I mentioned I was celebrating my birthday they were extra pampering. There wine flights were appropriately priced.Every wine we tasted was great and even after my wine purchase I did not feel robbed. That was some unforgettable experience. At Justin our experience was DULL and TIRING and not good at all. I am never going to recommend Justin to anyone. PS- Don't go there because people are mentioning it the moment they hear Paso Robles. There wines are no better than the wines you get at the medium shelf of the drugstore. Views are just OK. Use your money at a better winery.
