Had to try this place for the first time. Going to say it was creepy when you first enter because I had no idea I was going to have to go through 2 door and walk through a hallway of some sort. When we got there it was dead no one around. Was served quick. Their chips and salsa were good. My pineapple water was good and so was the horchata. When it comes to the food I won't say it's the best. My torta tasted bland, my daughter's Pozole tasted a little watered down. One of my kids did enjoy her bean and cheese burrito, which i didn't taste but she said it was good. To be honest I don't think I'd be going back this place just didn't impress me. We just moved to the SJ area and are trying out local restaurants to see which are our favorites or go to's. I have previously ordered from here and the tortas ahogadas were good. I called and made a phone order this time because the online ordering was not working. I got 2 menudos a torta, 2 potato tacos with meat, and 5 tacos with chips and salsa. Grand total was $83. Then my son got a small horchata and it was $7! I didn't ask the total before because when ordering online the total was $62. So I was like great. I sent my son for the food and after seeing the receipts I was shook ! And they still forgot the chips and salsa they charged me for. The food is good but the service and prices are sadly not. I called for an explanation of the price and resolution of the missing food and the girl on the other end seemed annoyed. I recently moved to IE, so searched up the nearest tortas ahogadas restaurant. I read all the reviews and was skeptical because people had mixed reviews about this place and I didn't want to make the drive to San Jacinto and be disappointed. The restaurant was empty which I was glad because I knew they wouldn't be in a rush to make order. Ambiance is chill, decor consist of pictures of Chapala, Jalisco. Cashier was very friendly and pleasant. I Placed my order to go and it was ready within 10 minutes. The tomato salsa for the tortas was delicious, carnitas & birote were tasty. I have to admit I was not disappointed and tortas ahogadas have an authentic taste. For dessert I had a jericalla and it took me back to my childhood taste buds. I love jericallas. Only reason why I gave 2 stars and not one was because of the flan/jericalla/ (Dessert) & the 1 taco de cabeza . Besides that had I gotten what we received at the restaurant I would have returned it and asked for my money back. The torta de pierna was SALTY/OVER COOKED. The taquito plate the meat was UNEDIBLE. It was ridiculously rock hard not even exaggerating. Did I mention how skimped out the taquitos where. I mean I don't mind paying for food but atleast make sure it's worth $16 smh. Just moved out here and this is the first restaurant we try. I'm extremely disappointed and dissatisfied. I'm not sure if I would give it another go tbh. read more

This place has been a lifesaver during the quarantine. We have ordered several items several different times and it's just delicious! You won't be disappointed with whatever you get here because it will be super tasty. They have their full menu on door dash and they pack the items very well with everything you'll need. They're prices are low for what you get. Food: Really delicious Mexican food! I'm Mexican and super picky with my Mexican food. My Mom is an amazing cook so I am hard to please. The chicharon here is to die for! Its saucy, tangy and just plain delicious! I was really curious of their torta ahogada cause I can never find a place that does them right. This place does! Found this place, and it was pretty good. it's definitely not Mexico good, but a close second. The bread was different than those in Mexico. The sauces tasted different too. Could be very good but I don't think I got the best dish. I called because I couldn't find the restaurant from the street. It's in the corner of a small shopping center. I called and ordered a carnitas torta thinking that they drowned all of the torta orders. When I arrived to pick it up they had to remake it for me to be ahogada (wet) . I drove by this restaurant and read the sign "tortas ahogadas" did a u turn and went straight to this restaurant. Tortas ahogadas are a traditional plate from Guadalajara, you don't find them everywhere... and when you do they aren't the same. I am always skeptical when I find some... because I'm always let down. Not this time... they were better than any torta ahogada that I have had in the U.S. I also had a sope and it was good. We ordered 4 different meals, all the meals were great. Both my husband and I ordered a tejuino...and that was absolutely horrible. I'm not sure what was in it, but they should not serve it there... it is also a traditional drink in Guadalajara, it is an acquired taste... but they definitely don't know how to make it. We couldn't drink it, so we ordered cokes instead. The food is good, the salsas are spicy. The service was great and the restaurant is clean. I am very impressed with this place. It's very hard to find very good, authentic, Mexican food that hits home for me. But, this restaurant does that for me! I ordered almost every taco and they were all amazing! I ordered to go, they accidentally forgot to put 3 of my tacos, and when I called, they offered me a refund or to deliver them to me. This place was good. But its the type of place that makes a good dish but can fail at others. I had the chilaquiles & taco de pastor. Both were great! My buddies shared the molcajete and loved. My son and wife hated it. She had the burrito and said the meat had too much fat and that causes that weird, nasty chewy sensation when you eat and my son said the same of his tacos de asada. It's a coin toss on their menu. But for San Jacinto/Hemet area it's easily one of the best restaurants out here. Kinda says a lot about the restaurants out here doesn't it. Ish! read more

Ordered some cabeza tacos and a tripa torta. The tacos were okay, and the torta was really disappointing. Not much in there, other than shredded lettuce, beans and a tomato slice. The sandwich was squashed flat, which weakened the bread and so it did not hold at all when I held it up to take a bite. Ate here today and was completely disappointed. Food was mediocre at best. The pastor here used to be amazing here, but fell very short. The prices have gone up dramatically including the inflated refill charge for iced tea at .95 each. Was really looking forward to the bowl of pozole, unfortunately there was a whole oregano plant in the broth which was far too much and didn't have much flavor to it. Staff wasn't not very friendly or attentive. Sadly will probably never return. read more

Went in today with my family to have lunch. Worst decision ever. The meats were so old...you can tell how much it's been reheated by how hard and stinky it was. Came down to Hemet court and on the way there I saw the tortas ahogadas sign, finding a restaurant that has authentic tortas ahogadas is really hard, this place wasn't that great so I'm a little disappointed , the bolillo was really hard and the sauce that they put on the torta was really bland I couldn't even taste the asada meat. I did get a taco de chicharrón and that was amazing, it had the perfect crunch and the salsa verde was really tasty. The prices are good for the quality and quantity of food. We thought we we try something different in town. We try to give as much business to the restaurants here. BUT... RUDE Hispanic woman with bright red hair! As soon as we walked in, 'Red' said something in Spanish, in English we said 'just a moment'. She then asked if order was to go? We said no, she then says 'then go sit down someone will be there'. This was our first visit so we were not aware that dining in you have a seat and wait. I think it was obvious this was our first visit since we weren't familiar with their process. 'Red' never once greeted us, her tone was rude and stern. Definitely not the first impression we expected. If you don't like your potential customer or your job, fake it. Your business depends on it. Inconveniently we left and went to El Zarape where staff immediately greets you, even if they recognize you, and they're polite the entire visit.
