Menudo made with calf meat super delicious!
    Faizan F.

I just recently found this spot in my neighborhood, and I'm so glad I did! The food is incredible, and Jaime (the owner) makes the experience even better. He's super friendly, always checks in on us, and shares great stories about his journey--once you try his food, you'll want to hear everything he has to say. My favorite dish so far is the chilaquiles plate. The quality is top-notch, and it's actually healthy--the chips are baked instead of fried. The Spanish rice was perfectly cooked (no hard pieces like you get at other places), and the beans were Peruvian instead of pinto. Bonus: both the rice and beans are vegan and gluten-free, so you leave feeling great after eating here. I came back the very next day for the menudo (available Fri-Sun), and it was amazing too. It's made with calf meat, which gives it a higher-quality taste you don't find everywhere. This place is definitely a new go-to for me--I'll be back soon to try more!

So good and much needed!! I'm always disappointed by the lack of authenticity in some Mexican restaurants but this place was a 10 out of 10. From the café de olla, to the Chilaquiles prepped queso panela; this place was everything! My husband took a bite of his birria torta was he immediately knew it was gonna be good. When you walk inside, you're greeted by beautiful decorations that are not overwhelming or the overplayed trendy style, but definitely have a lot of heart and thought put into it The service was super friendly, and we got our food really quick. I will definitely be back.

The food was really good and flavors on point. The service was fast and friendly. We didn't have to wait much for three plates of chilaquiles. The ambiance was really homey and welcoming. It was my first time trying this Gem. It was recommend by my sister and I'm sure glad we stopped it. I'll definitely be back. If you live in Jurupa Valley or neighboring cities you need to come check this place out. The coffee was also very good. Come check this place out.

Another visit, another delicious experience. I decided to try something new: breakfast plate con milanesa. Great choice. You can't go wrong with whatever you order here.

    Simple charro torta. Bomb

Lovely little place with earthenware traditional plates and a small menu. Food is great. Halal meat and (though not for me) vegan options for you people. I like the small menu because everything was fresh. Not frozen and ready to cook. Talking to the owner it turns out he is a butcher. Only had his daughter there helping him. Need any more stamps of authenticity? Loved it and will be coming back for more

Great Tortas, Great Service. They are very welcoming to Me every time I come in. It's a little small of a parking lot, that's the only negative I can think of.

The food is delicious and authentic, the service is attentive, and friendly. Restaurant is clean, they have equilapes as chairs and they are very comfortable, very much reminds me of Mexico style restaurant.

Great food and great service! The staff is always super friendly and check in to make sure you're doing well. Had the chance to try their Breakfast Plate and the Charro Fries, both of which were very delicious.

Asada torta (left) & Birria torta to the right (very delicious)

This place is a hidden gem, the staff here is amazing. They're super friendly. They are attentive. I seen how they talk to each customer the same very friendly. The food is really delicious super authentic. I also had a hibiscus a.k.a.. jamaica drink (agua) very authentic they make everything fresh here I feel like the birria could be more juicy and they can probably add more meat, nevertheless it was good

What a nice little hole in the wall place this was! First of all, the ambience and the plating that they use is the definition of rustic. Love all the custom decor they have in here, especially the chairs. We were greeted warmly by whom I assume is the owner multiple times, alongside with the nice lady who was cooking up a feast for us. I ordered the birria en consome and it was delicious. It wasn't greasy like other places and wasn't too heavy so I was actually able to eat it all in one sitting. It was super hearty and homey. You can tell they pay attention to details here when it comes to the food. I'd definitely come back and check out some other items on the menu in the future.

It was a tad bit too pricey for the fact that the tortas barely had any meat on them, it was more beans than anything else.

Location is near Mission Inn on Main Street. Price is on the higher end so plan to pay an average of $30/person. The only thing that was a bummer for us was the loud music for lunch hour experience. The music was loud and made me think it would be best for a club atmosphere? Maybe it was just me but I felt anxiety eating because the music was so upbeat and loud. Music is a big part of the eating experience. I know some people may be fine with it. For example, we had breakfast at Tio's Taco and the music was spot on for the dining experience.

I found out about it through my cousin, who's a UCR alum, and I'm really glad I finally got to try it. The staff were super nice and attentive, constantly coming by our table to check if we needed more water, tortillas, or anything else we might want. Even with how busy it was, they still made sure everyone was taken care of, which I really appreciated. The restaurant was packed, and it actually surprised me because I don't usually see that many people at restaurants in Riverside. The energy inside felt lively but still comfortable. One of my favorite parts was the fresh tortillas. They come out hot and fresh from the oven, and you can literally watch them being made right in front of you, which made it even better. And the best part is they're free. We ordered the carne fajitas and chile relleno. The fajitas were incredible, the meat was juicy, tender, and packed with flavor, with that perfect smoky sear that comes from being cooked fresh on a hot skillet. Everything came out sizzling and stayed flavorful with every bite. The chile relleno was also really good, with a nice balance of savory and slightly creamy filling that paired well with the sauce. It was actually my first time trying fajitas, and I can confidently say I'll be ordering them again the next time I come back. I definitely plan on returning while I'm still at UCR to make up for all the years I didn't know this place existed.

We have not been here since the 90's and I have to say, it was much better back then. All in all, there is just no flavor. The salsa tasted like watery tomatoes, our waitress gave us a little side of habanero salsa to incorporate with it but that heat is the extreme for me. We ordered the Mesquite chicken and steak fajitas which were less than average. Not sure if it was just a bad day, but the taste of the protein did not match up to the wonderful smell of BBQ outside the restaurant. The tortillas were just ok, first batch was not even warm. My Michelada was good though. Bummer visit after being away for so long. Looks like the interior could stand a makeover.

They were definitely not worth the price, and, again, our we had to look for our server. During all the waiting and searching both my wife and I suffered with the extremely loud music, and my wife is deaf (not a joke). The music was so loud it vibrated on the table and chair, which bothered my wife, and luckily we use ASL to communicate. Their Mojarra for one, is amazing with some corn tortillas, beans and rice, and lettuce. The lime garlicky sauce on that one, is what I've been dreaming of. It was THE star of the show. Great size for two to share, and we had a blast just eating and enjoying the sights laid out to see. Their pickled onions got a spicy kick to it! I loved the added crunch instead of just having the typical hot salsa. Service was great, with the waiters and waitresses checking in on us every now and then, and I liked that we pay first then eat, so we just leave after we're done! They're all made from materials that were bound to go in the trash, most notably cans that they open for cooking. So you'll see lids and the other material from cans beautifully molded into these structures. It may seem random but I found lots of humor and play thrown into the craftsmanship of it all. Some pieces are like playing I Spy. It was funner to see than a lot of museums I've gone to actually. It's truly just packed with art. I even got to meet one of the artists as he was working on something. He was really friendly. There's a few of them who work on them together and I learned they've been doing this since the 90's! How cool. It's so nice to see all the things they've come up with to create. Go check it out! Definitely a date worthy spot too. My bf and I had a lot of fun walking around seeing what they created.
