What can I say? This place was great. They have excellent variety of tortas in the bread is made on site. This thing was a good size. I normally can eat the whole thing but about 3/4 of the way I was stuffed ready to roll on home. Owner is very nice With great service tortas are big come with an appetite you will not be disappointed

We blinked and we missed it then we turned around and found it. It's in a weird spot in the shopping center and the GPS has you almost pass it if you're coming from I-35. I yelped a lunch location on the way to Austin. I was with my ex MIL who is from Mexico so she knows authentic Tortas when she eats one. This is the real deal. Lots of options too. 29 torta options plus other things. The sandwiches are huge and we could have split one but we didn't know. The lemonada is fresh and came in a huge cup. It might have been the highlight of the meal.

This restaurant is fantastic, and I could not recommend it enough. The staff is friendly, the food is hot, fresh, well-cooked, and delicious, and the homemade horchata is to die for. Get the Chilanga Torta or the Oaxaqueña Torta with the aforementioned horchata, and don't forget the chipotle paste. Keep businesses like these alive, because they deserve your money far more than any Tex-Mex chain in the Waco/Bellmead area. Such a hidden gem. Will be back... almost every week.

So good. Quiet little place with friendly staff and comfortable eating area. I got the hotdog deluxe and the #9 no tomatoes and was not disappointed. Food was so good and will be making a pit stop in there any chance I get. If you don't like spicy maybe ask for easy or no peppers but it was so good! read more

It's been a while since I've posted a review, but these guys are totally worth it. I had the Torta Cubana. It was huge and delicious! The bread was fresh and had just the right amount of toastiness. It was crunchy but not hard. It was so good I ordered two more tortas to go, just so my family could try them. Great service too! The owner is the cook and the wife is at the register, so you know it'll be good. When in Waco, totally try out this small inconspicuous hole on the wall spot! read more

Amazing tortas. Full of flavor and they baked their own bread! I had the Al Pastor, and the meat flavor combined with pieces of pineapple , was the perfect balance. The size of the torta is huge! So value wise, its so worth it! read more

Wow, this place is legit! I was driving through Waco and stopped for some lunch at the burger place next to it but then realized I could really go for a torta when I saw the shop. It's a small mom n pop shop that makes amazing authentic Tortas. I had the chipocluda and it hit the spot. The Tortas are massive but I really don't care about the size as I care about flavour more. The bread was fresh, avocado buttery and the eggs and meats were a great combo. Do yourself a favour and try this place out! read more

This place is legit when it comes to AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD! It so happens that the owners are from Mexico City and they lived and work in the Roma neighborhood. Yes just like the Movie. I had the Cuban Torta hmmmmmmmm Delicious. The bread on it own was a 10. I did not realize how huge this torta was until I got it and that's the only size they have. Other places have a few options when it comes to Tortas but this place has more options than 31 flavors ice cream. CUBANA: Homemade Bread, Mayonnaise, Avocado, Tomatoes, Oaxaca cheese, Onion grilled, Chipotle or Jalapeños, 7 kinds of cooked meats: Ham, Wieners(Franks), Chicken, Al Pastor(pork), Bistec(beef), Pierna (braised pork leg), Chorizo. On the way to Austin from Dallas I decided to check on Yelp to see if there was any restaurants that we could stop by, when we saw the good reviews from this small mom and pop's Mexican restaurant we decided to check it out. Driving through the old neighborhood wasn't too convincing at first but once we arrived we were greeted by the friendly owners right as they were getting ready to open and soon after we saw why everybody left nothing but positive notes on this place. In the area saw the rating and had to try it. Mom and Pop place that can be overlooked if you don't pay attention but you would be a fool if you do. One of the best sandwiches I have had this year which includes overrated places in NYC. Watched the guy build the sandwich piece by piece, even saw him pound out the steak for the milanesa!!!! I always wanted to try this place. Really never knew it was here till about a few months ago. The tortas are HUGE. They are really good also and the bread is soft. . My husband had the Cubano. And I have the #2 which comes with Milanesa. We came here around 1:30pm on a weekday. It wasn't busy. The place is very clean. And the family seems very sweet. I've eaten here several times over the last year, and I can confidently say as a long time Waco resident over the last 10+ years, this place is run by some of the nicest folks you could ask for. The service is top notch, and the food is fantastic. As someone of hispanic heritage, Tortas Nissi gives me a taste of home. The ingrediants are all incredibly fresh, every meal is cook fresh to order, which leads to slightly longer than average wait times for your meal to come out, but rest assured it is worth the wait when your grilled steak, chicken or pork torta comes out piping hot with everything you ordered on it. As soon as you walk into this little place you smell this delicious Mexican food, not Tex-Mex, but Mexican. Their menu is super descriptive and the staff are uber friendly. It is definitely a family owned business as you can see the husband and wife working together behind the counter and their daughters in the front working on some projects.
