We've been here a few times and it's always been a pleasant and delicious eating experience. First off, their location is right on the corner but kinda hidden so pay attention. Parking is tight and can be limited at times. The ladies working here are one of the nicest we've met. Food: So far, we've tried their tacos, gorditas, and tortas. The beef types were ok, tastes kinda cheap so we decided to stick with pork choices after our first visit, which are all flavorful. They also offer complimentary chips and salsa for starters. My absolute favorite thing on their menu is this mysterious fruit milkshake, that one of the waitresses introduced to us on our first visit. Sadly, she couldn't tell me the combo of fruits that she used in English, and I don't know many fruits in Spanish. Every time I go there, I'd ask her or someone else to try to recreate that concoction but it's never the same. So I guess I'll forever craving that unique mysterious flavor. At first, I thought this would be a typical taqueria and in some ways it was. The food was fresh and portions generous. Tacos for $2.50 each were mounded high with meat. Nonetheless, there were a few surprises that will discourage me in the future. The default for burritos includes lettuce, tomato, guacamole, and mayonnaise (including an extra cup on the side). The burrito is simply rolled, with both ends open and cut in half. Although they have a deep fryer for French fries, they do not offer chips. It breaks my heart to have to write this review. Because I have been recommending this place to everyone I know. I absolutely love their tortas ajogadas. I've ordered multiple times in the past since Covid, and while the hours are irritating, I understand that like everyone else they are understaffed. On my recent visit, I spoke with the cashier who told me there are only three employees, which is why they have such limited hours. I asked about the Birria, and was told it's beef and not goat, and to be completely honest, I'm a stickler for authenticity for the most part. I love fusion cuisine's, and plays in mixes on traditional dishes... but if you're going to serve a traditional dish, then I feel it should be traditional. That being said, I ordered a torta ajogada, and unlike in the past, I was unable to choose the protein... not a big deal. So instead of a shredded Barbacoa, I got the on menu Carnitas version. I feel like when a restaurant has it as their set menu item then you should probably give it a try. Unfortunately, the Carnitas were tough and dry, and the oil was stale. Friday January 3rd 2014. Early Dinner. Time was about 18:48hrs. Yes, this a tiny hole in a wall establishment. Yes, you can seat down and wait for the staff to give you the menu and take your order, OR you can order at the counter, then seat yourself. The Dining area can seat and fit like about 12 to 15 people, the Max at one go, though I cannot deny it would be a tight squeeze. Hubs and I like the complimentary Chips and Salsas. The Salsa that they provide was indeed mildly spicy with chunks of tomatoes or peppers to our liking. You can also get your own concoction of Salsa from the Salsa Bar though I cannot deny, the "orange" one seems like Chipotle or Roasted Tomatilo are more spicier to my taste bud. We ordered the following items : * 1 Lengua Taco ($1.49) * 1 Barbacoa Taco ($1.49) * 5 Beef Asada Taco @ $1.49 each - ($7.45) * 1 Smothered Beef Asada Burrito ($4.25) + ($1.49) * 1 Mexican Bottle Cola ($2.25) The total cost for our Dinner with tax was $19.73. We waited for abit, since before us, there is a patron who opt to have her order to go. While we were there, there are like about 5 to 6 other patrons, 3 of which opt to dine in, and the rest opt to have their orders to go. The Tacos comes with Diced Raw Onions and Chopped Cilantro. My order of Barbacoa and Lengua Tacos were just A-Okay. The Barbacoa is over-cooked that I don't think I can taste any "meat" in it. The Lengua Taco was a little bland, no flavor at all, though I cannot deny the Lengua was cut into edible chunks. How I wish they could at least "fry" the Lengua a little longer, to make it more crunchy for my taste bud. I like the Beef Asada Tacos the best from this establishment since I get the chance to have 2 of those. Hubs said the 3 Beef Asada Tacos and his Smothered Burrito was just A-Okay too. 3 stars at best. May return when needed. From the conversations we had with the staff at this establishment, she also runs the Juice Land which was like 2 doors away behind this establishment. I was introduced to this gem of a restaurant a few years ago by a coworker and I have been going back ever since. No matter what time of day it is or how busy they are, I've always been treated like I was walking into someone's home and sharing a meal with them. As a white dude from Denver, the experiences I've had here reminds me when I've visited restaurants south of the border and had the same level of hospitality. The food is exactly what you'd expect out of an authentic Mexican restaurant: fresh, tasty, spicy, and filling. I've never had a bad experience at this place but my word to the wise is to always get a horchata to drink (in case you can't handle the awesome red sauce). The only negative thing I could possibly say about this place is that the parking lot is pretty bad. There is hardly any parking and you will get your door's dinged if you aren't careful. There is off the street parking just around the corner, which is always where I try to park. Just enjoyed some chicken tacos on my first visit to Tacos Y Tortas. The people were friendly and the food was delicious. The salsas were all spicy and flavorful. Only knock I have is going in to make a to go order, when asked what I wanted, there was no menu visible at the counter. Luckily I knew I was jonesin' for some tacos so it wasn't a big deal to me, but a menu available for to go orders would be nice. My husband and I have been long-time Tortas y Tacos fans; even when we moved out of state, we visited this hole-in-the-wall establishment each time we came back to visit. The food and the family atmosphere is unlike any other. Although most people might pass by this restaurant without thinking twice, we first tried it over ten years ago after someone recommended the tacos. We recently moved back to Aurora, so today we hit up our go to taco spot for takeout. The staff was warm and friendly, like always. The family that owns it obviously keeps up their wonderful reputation, because almost every table filled up while we waited the 5-7 minutes for our to-go order. The place is small but that allows the restaurant to keep its homey, authentic feel. Everything was as delicious as I have come to expect from this place. The tacos were fresh, with tortillas freshly steamed on the griddle and the perfect amount of pico de gallo and house sauces on top. We got tacos el albañil, al pastor, y tacos de pollo. El albañil is beef and has always been my favorite, but all of them were fabulous; for under $2 each, it is good on your wallet and your belly. We got a couple of tortas to share among the family, and the milanesa and adobada tortas. The bread was fresh and the toppings just right. I love that they have a condiment bar where you can fill up containers of various sauces and toppings, but the food is amazing even without. When my husband mentioned that it was his grandpa's birthday, they recommended the chocoflan (chocolate cake base with flan on top that is ridiculously delicious) and after we bought one, the owner even slipped an extra slice in our bag on the way out. There is nothing not to like about this place. It's the type of family-owned and operated establishment that I want to support in Aurora, especially because it defies the new trend of overpriced tacos and pretentiousness. Mt first time eating here was when I was pregnant with my 1st son and have continued to eat here ever since. The food is great and the people are wonderful. Tried this place randomly because we wanted Birria tacos and the reviews seemed good. The pictures posted and taken must have been really close up because the portions are really small and barely come with any toppings or condiments. The consume that comes with the taco is barely the size of a shot, which is weird considering the consume portions at most places are hearty. The container was BARELY even half way filled and when we called to inquire about why the containers weren't filled properly we were told that the portion we got is what they give for every 3 tacos which is quite stringent. In addition I struggle to call these tacos birria due to the lack of cheese. Birria tacos typically have a layer of cheese in between the two tortillas or a least a good amount on one side of the taco so that it oozes out. These tacos had no cheese in between the tortillas and only had a sprinkle of cheese mixed in with the meat. The ratio was just not good, at least not to be called a true Birria taco. Lastly we ordered a total of 9 tacos and for topping we only received 4 (very small) lime wedges, about 7 thinly sliced pieces of radish and 2 of the tiniest containers of salsa that were again only filled halfway. I was on the hunt for tortas on Peoria when I happened upon Tortas Y Tacos El Chino. Located at the northeast corner of Peoria and Del Mar Circle, you'll find this tiny, bright shop with plenty of parking. The menu is primarily in Spanish, but English is provided, which is fantastic because my Spanish is really, really rusty. I ordered a ham torta to go, which was severed up a few short minutes later. Yum-o! Jalapeños, onions, tomatoes, avacados, and lettuce spiced this torta up. Really quite delicious! And for less than $5? You can't go wrong! I know there are other tortas locales in the Del Mar circle area (which I need to try as well!), but I'm glad to know that happenstance brought me here because I will certainly be returning! read more

I am a fan of tacos El Chino. I have been coming here for a year now as a regular almost every Friday to get my taco craving under control. I love the fact that I live 5 minutes away. GET THE TACOS AL PASTOR. Well seasoned and perfectly prepared tender marinated pork and pineapple on double corn tortillas. I get about 7 with all the fresh salsas and lime I can handle. Call in for takeout and 10 minutes later you are in taco heaven. They run a close second to tacos y salsa which has a good Carne asada taco, but El chino has my vote! read more

I love their tacos since they are street taco style and so flavorful. Their fresh salsa never disappoints, and the the chips are quite addicting. I always get an al pastor and a barbacoa style something. Those are my personal favorite meat preparations, oh and he carnitas. I want some right now as I write this, they are that good. Once you try them, I promise you that you that you will go back. If I had one complaint, it is that they are not open 24/7. I mean who hasn't wanted a late night taco? The service was amazing, the food was authentic, full of flavor and prices were very reasonable. I ordered the menudo soup and hands-down I would place it among my top three menudo experiences! So so soooooo yummy! My dining partner had the carne asada and said it was really good - tender and the spices were spot-on. He actually ordered two entrees so there ya' go. That speaks volumes. This place was a small, friendly establishment off of Peoria with limited parking. You are greeted with free tortilla chips and salsa (the salsa had a fresh kick) and a menu to order. My dad got the basic Bean and Cheese burrito and I had the Fish and Al Pastor tacos with a side serving of guacomole. Delicious. The tacos were flavorful and my dad's burrito was good as well, and it was a humane portion size rather than the humongo giant of a burrito we are use to back in SD. Okay, first of all, really 4.5. Only experienced this as a takeout, but excellent tacos (carne asada and chorizo) and smothered burrito! Have not had the chance to try other items (incl. entrees, fresh juices or desserts...but they all look tempting). The salsa and condiment "bar" is outstanding and some have a nice 'kick', just they way I like it. Everything has the feel of being handmade, and most you can actually see being made. If you took this restaurant, dressed it up and put it in a different building, I could see it getting rave reviews from the traditional media and charging 1.5 to 2X for the same food. Very expensive, very small portions...when I called to ask for clarification with the order (thinking I maybe received the wrong order) I was told that 2 tacos would not be close to enough for one person. The portion sizes definitely mirrored this. I wouldn't have been close to full/slightly satisfied with 4 :/...I also wouldn't be willing to spend 14.00+ on mediocre flavored no toppings mini tacos for lunch (the shot glass amount consume/dip was very tasty tho) so there's that.
