The food was good , however the server mid aged male was very rude. 1# we ask if there still open as it's slow He's answers they will close in an hour if it stays slow 2# dose not tell us set walks off 3# dose not say specials or point out (would have ordered mushroom enchiladas) 4# picked up bill with an tip of $10 on $55 , returns and says we have 10 minutes tell they closed Mind you there are 3 other tables at this point and one has full plates , and we had been offered dessert (so I'd have just gotten desert and been told to eat-up) Also never told any of the 3 other tables he was closing, he went back to kitchen, I live in this town and will not be back , Iv worked food service, and this is Not how you build an clientele

I friggen' loved this place. It's been bookmarked for awhile and we finally made it in. It's quaint and cozy inside, with just the right amount of tables and bar space. I am gluten-free and always appreciate a labeled menu for those of us who have sensitivities. Thank you for that. Our waitress and the rest of the staff were extremely attentive and kind. The food tasted homemade and clean, like there were no harmful ingredients hiding anywhere. I enjoyed the green chicken enchiladas and the chile relleno and my family liked their meals as well. My dad and daughter finished up with an order of the churros and they reported that those were very tasty! I look forward to my next visit.

Enchiladas (gluten free), margaritas, and tacos!

Consistently good food, staff is very nice & engaging, and the best darn margaritas around! The environment is cozy- it's in a small older building, but they manage it well. I love how they bring the chip basket out with a little pitcher of salsa. We love the poblano enchiladas- our fav dish. They accommodate to gluten free diets, which is a plus. The sizes are plentiful, I'm unable to finish a combo plate (beans & rice). Highly recommend.

    Margaritas and salsa are great

Food and waitstaff are a joke. Why would anyone go here when there's much better Mexican food in the area?

Now let's get to the food. I can only speak for what I ordered. My espresso martini made with tequila instead of vodka was UHMAZING! Best one I've had so far. The baked Brie was mouth watering, the crostinis were so good and crispy. And the top sirloin was perfectly cooked to medium rare. Loved every bit of it! And the cheesecake was good but I wasn't a fan of the peach compote. My friend loved her cosmo and her gnocchi. And she loved the peach compote. So it worked out for us. Will definitely be back next year!

The front desk reassured us, gave us a waiting number, and told us to wait in the lounge while they worked on getting us a table. After waiting patiently for an entire hour, we checked back, only to be abruptly told they were fully booked and could not seat us after all. Our booking mistake is on us, but stringing along a family with a baby for an hour--giving false hope while open tables sat empty--is terrible hospitality. If you cannot accommodate us, simply be honest upfront so we can celebrate elsewhere instead of wasting our entire evening. Very disappointing customer service.

Came here for dinner last Friday before catching a movie. We arrived before 6pm when it wasn't busy…read moreyet; there're more people when we left. I liked their causal vibe and Christmas decorations. They even had an upside down Christmas tree! I had pork chop, which came with smashed potato and spinach. Unfortunately, the sauce was so salty making the spinach inedible. The pork chop was not bad after removing the sauce and so was the smashed potato as it wasn't all covered in sauce. Our server, Simone, was very nice and offered to get me another side order of spinach, which saved the day! My husband enjoyed his baked salmon entree, which was recommended by Simone. We skipped appetizers so that we could have room for dessert and the lava cake didn't disappoint. Overall, not a bad dinner experience.

I had the baked horseradish salmon, which was cooked very well (not overcooked at all), served very hot, and the spinach was cooked very well also, not limp and soggy like cooked spinach often is. The seasoning on the salmon was nice, with the horseradish seasoning apparent but not overpowering. The sauce was rich, but the right amount was on there to add taste but not make the dish too heavy. My wife's pork was good overall, but she found the spinach too salty for her taste, but Simone was great about offering a replacement plate of spinach which wasn't too salty and also offered other sides as well (but we just took the spinach). The lava cake came quickly, had plenty of ice cream with it, and wasn't overly sweet. The place is fairly casual, being in Santa Cruz/Capitola, and on one hand, the food was above what you'd expect at a fairly casual restaurant. But the prices were close to what you'd find at a nicer-than-casual restaurant (~$30 entrees, $40-45 for steaks), so the rating is measured against expectations for the price point rather than the ambiance. So it was good and we enjoyed it, but at the price point there are a lot of choices where you can get quite good food, so the star rating reflects that.
