I called to ask a simple question about what type of transmission fluid they use, along with some more questions before committing to driving over and getting the service done. Before answering most of my questions, the woman on the phone insisted on collecting my full name and other personal information just to continue talking to me. I explained I wasn't comfortable giving full details until I understood whether they even offered what I needed. She became impatient when typing my name and abruptly told me to 'you know what- why don't you go somewhere else' and hung up on me. I'm reluctant to hand out personal identifying details just to get information about a car service. I wasn't rude or argumentative; I simply wanted to know if they use the specifically compatible fluid for my car I before committed to anything. If this is how they treat someone trying to ask basic questions, I don't feel confident trusting them with my vehicle. read more

I do not recommend going here. Took a car in for a pre-purchased inspection before buying it and they told me everything was good. Bought the car and Come to find out later there's a bunch of major expensive issues. Asked them about it and they told me they chose not to tell me about it until it got worse. suspension was messed up, and the brakes and rotors were jacked up. Then they called the other shops that found the issues scammers for pointing out the problems. So I go back in to have them do the brakes and rotors, and they resurfaced the front rotors and replace the brake pads. Anyone who knows anything about brakes or rotors know that this is not the right way to do it and it causes the old rotor to damage the new brake pads. I called them and asked them about this when I found out and they lied to me and told me that they put on a new rotors even though I could see the rotors myself and they were obviously old and rusted out . I decide to go in and get a copy of the invoice. the invoice it says they resurface rotors. even though over the phone they lied to me and told me they replaced them. they got hostile and rude and aggressive to me over the phone when I called then them out on it, then they hung up on me. then when I called them out for the rude phone call,, they claimed I was being rude, even though I was super polite. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. I took my 2017 Hyundai Sonata in because it was burning oil. It took five months dealing with extended warranty insurance to get the work approved. Ron never gave up and was persistent until he got that approval. I am forever grateful. read more

This company is useless. If you need your car fixed, don't come here. They will lie to you, state they called when, in fact they didn't, lied to the point that I missed my grandmother's funeral because they are incompetent at ordering anything correctly. They broke my dipstick and said it was that way when they pulled it out. The man, Ron, is rude and feels like nothing is his problem. I was quoted a ridiculous amount to fix my truck at the dealership and I was referred to Folsom Autotech for a second opinion from Tire Pros in Folsom (also great). Not only was the quote from Folsom Autotech HALF of what the dealership quoted, once they got into my truck, they realized that I didnt need some of the work that was assumed to be necessary. They could have done the work and just charged me what was quoted but they went out of their way to save me money and do only what was necessary. After that, I took my car to them (which also broke in the same week) and the bill came back 200 bucks less than what they initially quoted AND the car drives like a new car. This is an honest place to do business with and I will be taking my cars here going forward. read more

I really wanted to love this place, but they did a terrible job on my car. I went into this shop for MAINTENENCE, there was absolutely nothing wrong with my car. No noises, no leaks, nothing whatsoever. One of the things I had them do was a simple brake job (replace the pads/cut the rotors/grease the contact points). Immediately, I noticed the brakes were squeaking, I know this is normal until they're fully broken in so I thought nothing of it. A month later during a road trip, I noticed a loud rotational grinding noise when braking. It was so bad I had to pull over multiple times, and debated calling a tow truck as I was driving mountain roads and it didn't feel safe. When I got back home, I took it back to their shop right away. I explained they just did a brake job and that it is already grinding again. They charged me $90 to diagnose why the brake job they completed weeks prior is giving me issues. They said they couldn't replicate the noise, nothing is wrong with it. The grinding got worse and worse. I took it to a different mechanic and they stated they didn't properly lubricate the brake components. I went back to the shop to ask why they did not lubricate the brakes when they first did the brake job and they said that doing that is not necessary. I proceeded to argue with the guy who claimed to have 40 years experience. He even stated that they have brake grease and that lubricating breaks "isn't what it's for". If you know anything about cars brake pads, most of them come with a packet of brake grease! I would have been happy with them simply greasing them for me, but instead they just wanted to warranty the pads. They refused to solve the issue they created. To reiterate, my car had NOTHING wrong with it when I took it to this shop, I took it in for maintenance. Brake jobs are a simple service, it's concerning that they couldn't even do that correctly. They gave me a refund for diagnosing their bad brake job, but truly such terrible service. read more

I feel bad leaving a bad review because the lady at the front desk is really nice, but I am not pleased at all with my experience. I called on Monday to make an appointment for my car, and I was told Wednesday 8am, and to "drop it off maybe on Tuesday because the guys might get to it early, and have it returned to me sooner". That sounded great so I dropped my car off on Tuesday. On Wednesday afternoon I called for an update about my car and was told "we haven't even started working on it yet, your appointment was for Thursday". Oh? No? I was fully told multiple times that it was Wednesday. That was extremely frustrating but I let it go. Then today (Thursday) they call me and tell me they "ran out of time looking at my car so they need $170 more to keep looking for the problems". Long story short I left paying $300 after leaving my car there for almost 3 days, and nothing is fixed. Especially my air conditioning in this over 100 degree heat. I have never heard of an auto company calling and asking for extra money because they ran out of time? I am very disappointed, frustrated, and genuinely upset with my experience and that I paid $300 for truly nothing. read more

No complaints about the service - a few days ago, they got me in and out with a repair in no time. However - while I was waiting for my vehicle to be fixed, I overheard the guys behind the counter talking about COVID as if it's all a joke. One of the guys even mentioned that he needed to get tested because one of his co-workers there had tested positive (!) The 2 guys continued to talk about COVID for a good 5 more minutes, indicating that it's 'not a big deal' and 'nobody actually dies from it.' NO one was wearing a mask, but they did have a huge strip of what appeared to be plastic wrap covering the check out area as a type of shield (!) One of the guys even sneezed and joked that the next time he did, he would do it in the direction of one of his co-workers. Not funny. Very unprofessional and shocking behavior. I wish I was making this up. I would highly recommend going elsewhere if you are concerned about your safety. read more

I walked in one day to their shop. Seemed like nice guys. I spoke to them about my 1996 F250 that had a check engine light and would not allow me to pass smog. Diagnostic would be $159 and they said they would provide a list of items causing the check engine light so that I could replace them myself and save some dollars. I called a few days later to set up an appt. and discussed some of the codes I was reading. Jim walked me through a couple scenarios but suggested I start with cleaning the Mass Air Flow sensor with MAF cleaner from O'Riely's. He said if I have any other questions, to feel free to give him a call or bring the truck into the shop. I bought the fluid and cleaned the MAF sensor, removed the codes and drove the truck for a day. I schedule my smog check and passed with no issues. Check engine light has not come up since. My truck was running rough. I'll admit, Ford dealership couldn't get me in for a month, so I went to Folsom AutoTech. they found a couple of things wrong, replacing my radiator hoses, spark plugs, new coil and coil boots. I was called to pick up my truck. When I arrived, my truck was running poorly, and I had to leave it longer. Turns out technician broke new spark plug during repair. I retuned again paid $1,700 for repairs and was finally on my way. Within 300 miles I was back, after being stranded on the highway overheating.. I returned to Folsom Autotech a third time! Another $215 to replace my thermostat. I picked up my truck and became stranded on the highway again the next day! I returned a fourth time pretty upset by now. I was told it was an air lock in the system because the air was not burped after replacing coolant. Ron, the manager said "it would have taken more time to do that." I called Ford dealer, the technician said the "system should have been placed on suction to burp the air after repair". Ron, what about my time? 4 visits, $2,000 and stranded on highway again! They apologized and agreed to return the $215 for my third visit. Anyway, I've learned my lesson using non dealer repair shops who cut corners to save "time". They sure did charge for their's! read more

Honesty. A rare trait today. I take both mine and my wife's vehicles here for that reason. They are upfront and clear on what needs to be done and what the costs are. They are honest enough to tell you that some repairs are beyond their scope (e.g. happened with my wife's Mini Cooper that had battery issues), or that some fixes can wait a little longer (the Honda dealership told me that ALL MY BRAKES NEEDED REPLACING NOW and quoted me $$$$$ to do it --- they told me only the front brakes were urgent, the rear brakes can wait till the next oil change, giving me enough time to save up for the repair costs). Folsom Autotech has serviced our cars for many years but most recently the actuators for the HVAC venting failed in one of them. Sadly there are 5-6 of these and most require the removal of the dash. It can be expensive and in the old days stories of squeaky or poorly aligned pieces concerned me. The AC in our car had let go and it was a Sunday in July. I was picturing being without the car for several days since I hadn't made an appointment. I used the overnight drop to leave the car off on Sunday night and got a phone call first thing Monday morning to confirm what had been happening with the AC.
