The last of my Seattle reviews unfortunately is the least brazilliant. Which is sad, because Toscanos is one of those places that you just really want to like, but things just don't turn out quite right. My friend raved about this place and all their great food, drinks and cooking classes. The restaurant itself was adorable, and unfortunately very small and packed - they couldn't take us 3 gals until 8. Our first waiter came, took our order, and disappeared. Awesome. It wasn't until another completely different person came over and explained that he had to leave that we got our food. At least she was really nice about things; she saw the expression on my friend's face when she took a taste of her food, and she offered to exchange it for free. I started off with the Orange Dreamsicle, which is a really yummy nummy creamy orange martini. It literally tastes like a melted Creamsicle, and it was the best thing of the night. I decided to start with a salad, which had a raspberry vinaigrette and hazelnuts (yum!). SInce I wasn't too hungry, I opted for the Toscanos Onion Soup (sorry, no photo because I ate the whole thing before remembering to take a picture) sans the cheese (dang lactard self!). It was really, REALLY savory, and it's not something I could've had a big pot of, for it made me crave water like no other. My friend Jul originally started off with their Italian specialty: sausage and grapes, but this was quickly returned to the kitchen because it wasn't anything like she expected taste-wise (the waiter said that he didn't personally like it but others might) - it was two fat sausages sitting on top of some cooked grapes. She ended up exchanging it for a bowl of the same soup I had. My other friend N ordered the same salad and their pumpkin crab cakes (it was an appetizer portion). We expected it to be two cakes, but instead they were three very small, very thin dollar-pancake-sized cakes with not that much flavor. Pass for next time. Unfortunately, none of us had a great experience, although I was the one with the most decent food/drink order. For the price, though, the flavors definitely didn't add up. I would return to give it a second chance, but only because the other reviews are so great. read more

Cute place. Very nice wait staff. I was very hopeful that the food would match the great feeling I had for the place so far. Definitely not worth the prices charged. Salad was small. Pasta dish was sauce heavy. Shrimp was over cooked and tough. The cheesecake was past it's prime. It was not creamy and had a tough outer layer. Great atmosphere. Outdoor dining with a view of Mt. Rainier was a treat. The Huckleberry Drops were an excellent cocktail. The crab artichoke dip was a delicious appetizer before the main course. The mushroom risotto was delicious and my filet mignon was cooked to perfection and absolutely incredible. The brownie with whipped cream and ice cream was a phenomenal cap to end our meal. First time dining at this restaurant with my wife, and it was the best choice we could've made out of our options for the evening. The staff were great; our waiter (didn't catch his name) especially was an amazing professional with a cool, calm, and collected demeanor providing a comfortable atmosphere for our dining experience. Never rushed. Drinks, appetizers, and main meals came out with perfect timing intervals. Outdoor seating was a bit full on a Saturday evening so didn't get the great dinner view angle of Mt. Rainier, but the dining experience was still amazing with great summer weather outdoors. I (very) highly recommend for couples or friends wanting to relax and take time to chat throughout the dinner courses in a relaxed comfortable environment. Y'all! please give this beautiful restaurant/ grill 1 night out of your week this week. You will not be disappointed. My fiancé and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary here tonight and we were shook with excitement. Cameron F was our server and a complete gentleman and charm. He was friendly, informative, and made use feel special. The restaurant is smaller yet cozy and comfortable. Which I appreciated since we don't get out much and didn't need the big restaurant feel but wanted the special service and attention we definitely received here. First.. we reserved a table a few days in advance from their website via OpenTable, we arrived 10 minutes early and were sat right away. We waited maybe 30 seconds before we were waited on. The drinks came first then the starter right after. We looked in advance at the menu so we were prepared on what to order and what to expect which made everything a lot quicker for us personally. We were eating drinking and done within an hour. It was quick, delicious, friendly, romantic lighting, a small live band, and the atmosphere was calm but you could hear other guests chatting but not to the point you're screaming across the table at your date. The temperature was warm not hot and I wasn't cold like most restaurants. The most comfortable experience I've had to date. The starters... we ordered the BIGGEST like a foot tall margarita glass the size of my head of clams $29. My gahhhhd the absolute best. They were served hot delicious and easy to eat. Topped and floating in vermouth with garlic, celery, onions and parsley and some lemon wedges. They offered the little forks, spoons and a bowl for the shells. Second we ordered drinks. I got the Italian margarita $14 AMAZING and lasted my entire meal rimmed with salt. My fiancé ordered the knob creek sour $15. Not his favorite but I had a sip and it was flat in flavor maybe just not right for his meal of choice. Now for dinner... I ordered the Chicken Parmesan, which i immediately sent a picture to my Italian mother who was drooling with awh! It was the perfect portion, the bowl was hot but it made sense to keep my dinner warm the entire hour. The chicken was perfectly cooked a little char here and there which I like but the gravy was the best part! Tart, lightly sweet, deliciously tomatoey! The pasta was Al dente to perfection! My fiancé ordered the 21 day aged rib eye, and a side of blue cheese bacon smothered Brussels sprouts. He ordered medium rare and just take a look at the outcome! He was feeding me bites throughout the night he was so happy with his choice. The restaurant is easy to find if you're a local to Puyallup, and downtown Puyallup. Even if you're not from Puyallup it's a quick shot off of 410. Close to Sumner close to Auburn I highly recommend swinging by and making a night out of it! They include a 3% gratuity in the bill for the kitchen staff (ended up being about $4) the rest of the gratuity is up to you. After 2 years of getting email invites and anniversary cards in the mail, my hubbs and I finally decided to try it. I called and made a reservation. So here goes. I had the chicken parm. The squash had some sort of flavor that was just an explosion of flavorful heaven in my mouth. The sauce was sooooooooo frieckin good.the chicken was juicy and the edges crisp. Perfect portion. My Mojito was poured perfectly with no over pouring. Hubbs had the spicy cialpino. First bite was amazing. Perfect portions. It was a very sweet spicy. It was definitely not one of those uncomfortable spicy flavors that makes your food less enjoyable. It was one of those spicy that you want to just keep eating. The waitress came over at the end and brought us a couple of their homemade raspberry truffles. OMG!!!! Amazing! She also brought a little cake for our anniversary. Do NOT have your company party here! They will rip you off and over charge and by the time we noticed they refused to make it right. They are good with their words and tell you what you want to hear then again over charge you. Even the little things. For example, I asked if I could open up my own wine they told me it's your room do what you want. Guess what!!! They charged for that IF I knew they were going to do that I wouldn't of brought mine. After speaking with other small businesses they said that this too happened to them!!! Awful. Spoke with multiple staff and managers to no avail. I would like to rave about how wonderful the food was but went for lunch with 7 from work and even thought the place was only half full they could not seat us. The only option was having 1 table of 5 near the door and a second table of 2 half way across the floor. My husband and I had a date night here this evening and we were both blown away with the amazing food and service. Drinks- first I am so amazed that they offer a happy hour on the weekend! Totally unheard of but oh so lovely! I had a lemon drop (or 3) and my husband had a few different drinks and each were wonderful! Appetizer- we had the ahi tuna and boy oh boy it was spectacular! Toscanos! So, we're driving around Puyallup looking for this area, and my GPS tells me to turn into this business-ish looking plaza and lo and behold, there she lay - Toscanos. We walked in and immediately we were impressed at how classy this place seemed. Theme-appropriate fake bushes lit up with warm Christmas string lights. Then you enter a dimly lit room with Frank Sinatra singing in the background. I felt like a 100 bucks. Despite the inside décor, we decided to sit outside. T'was a warm sunny day with a beautiful view of Mt Rainier. Every once in a while a train would zip by tooting its horn. The mix of warm-sunny weather, beautiful views of Mt. Rainier, and trains running past you brought the customer a glimpse of euphoria - like you were eating in a country side restaurant in Italy. The table we were seated with was very wobbly, but my fiancé's engineering skills showed the table who's boss. We ended up waiting a little bit for our server - no biggie. Ordered a Stella, waited a little bit more than I was hoping I would - tiny biggie. They brought out bread, oil and vinegar. The bread was delicious. Warm and chewy; the vinegar and oil just made the bread taste 10 times better! I would come here to drink beer and eat this bread. Ordered our food: I got the Cioppino. This is the first time I've had Cioppino and I was impressed with it. Lots of seafood - cuddle fish (or squid), chunks of fish, shrimp, clams frolicking in a spicy tomato sauce complimented by a well toasted bread that looked like it was sinking in the sauce. One thing that bothered me was the saltiness of this dish. A little more salty than I like. My fiancé got this chicken and shrimp penne pasta in a caper, butter, garlic sauce. Toscano's is our regular destination every other Friday night and we are always so pleased with the food, service, and atmosphere. We can count on friendly staff, excellent martinis, perfect music, great food, and that my wife will order the rockfish piccata. Which is excellent by the way. They have live music on Thursdays and outdoor seating during the warmer months. Also, the best bartender in town serving up those excellent martinis I mentioned before. As a foodservice professional, I have an appreciation for the food and services provided at great dining establishments. Puyallup has become my "home away from home" the last 5 weeks. I do not consider my week complete without atleast one stop a week to Toscanos! The menu has a nice variety, priced well, and current. I enjoy my nicely presented Chicken Parmesan over pasta dinner, served up with their signature onion soup, or great soup of the day option. Toscanos is a great neighborhood go-to for Italian food with a twist. My boyfriend and I went there on a date night and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. It's more intimate than most weeknight restaurants, and I really appreciate that about this place. And my boyfriend appreciates their cocktail menu. I had the Lemonade Stand Lemon Drop. It was so refreshing and the perfect balance of sweet and tangy, just in time for spring. We also ordered the "Lox style" Smoked Trout with Lavender Goat cheese. Goat cheese isn't something I'm ever dying to try, but I felt daring and we ordered it. I did not regret it. I was amazed at home yummy the goat cheese was paired with the trout. My friend and I stopped in to Toscanos Italian Grill for lunch because it's National Meatball Day. After looking over the menu, I didn't see a meatball sandwich but they did provide meatballs as an appetizer and also with the spaghetti. The waiter asked if he could answer any questions for us and I said that we came to Toscanos expecting to find a meatball sandwich since it was National Meatball Day and there wasn't one on the menu. He was amused and said that the chef would love to create a meatball sandwich for me! The sandwich was delicious on a nice crisp bun with lots of sauce, fresh basil and gooey cheese. On a side note, the restroom was very cool with neat artwork and a sink with a few rocks to add to the atmosphere. My friend said it was the best restroom in Puyallup! We will be back! read more

The young lady that was bartending knows her Martini's and unlike many bars she put some effort into the shake, shake, shake. My husband and I have found our favorite new Italian restaurant! Toscanos has amazing food. We have tried multiple Italian restaurants locally and nothing compares to the quality. My husband had the rib eye steak and I had the seafood fettuccine. Not only were both delicious but they added an actual good amount of seafood on mine and overall the amount of food you get is worth the price. The customer service is top notch.
