Love Toscanos outdoor dining. This is a very small place, so we prefer to sit outside on a nice day. Casual attire, but much more fancy of a menu. Great options for chicken, steak, seafood or pasta- appetizers are always good. Huge wine selection and full bar. Desserts too. read more

This was my first time here with my husband. By far the best Italian place we've been to in the Tacoma area. We both had the chicken and the seafood linguine - both really amazing and creamy. I have only ever ordered the Seafood Fettuccine here. This dish is freaking amazing!! There was one time that I was still hungry when I left because they served half the normal serving size... Pre and post that visit I haven't had any issues though. And that was during lunch time, so maybe they have different size servings for lunch vs dinner? It seems hit or miss on your waitress being nice, stand offish, or snobby. I've only had one time that we had an extraordinary waiter. The first time I came here was for a work party to celebrate me and 6 other people being the best at what they do, after that was an anniversary celebration for my hubby and I, a lunch for me & my bestie, and then the time when we had the best waiter was when my sister, mom, and I went in just because. There have been times in between, but these stand out the best in my memory. Once ordered a creme brûlée and it was by far the BEST one I've ever eaten!! My boyfriend and I went here for dinner last night and we had a great experience. Our server, I believe her name was Robin, was fantastic! She brought our drinks out before we asked for another one, brought us more bread after our first basket, and made sure our dining experience was optimal. The food was amazing. We started with the crab and artichoke dip. It came out with a nice crust on the top, creamy, and tasty beyond belief. I ordered the NY strip and my partner ordered the seafood fettuccini. Both dishes came out exactly as the appetizer, delicious and cooked to perfection. Honestly, I was expecting our bill to be over $100. I can't say enough about this place. Every single time we have been here, we have been presented with amazing food and awesome service. My son even colored their kids menu picture (actually in a pretty funny way) and the waitress went and hung it in the kitchen for the chef! My husband even submitted this place to the Food Channel's 'Diners, Drive ins and Dives' because they are THAT good, and located at a place you would NEVER expect as good as food you will find here. I have to say Toscanos did not let me and my wife down yet again. Friday date night for drinks and dinner. As always the staff was very attentive (they actually had no choice since we were there at 2:55) Bruce, Lee, (no the fighter), Chef Cole, Travis, and Sue (owner) all spent time chatting with both of us and catching up on World/State issues and events. We had artichoke/crab dip starter, cup of clam chowder to start. My wife had the Cesar salad and I had the to die for Apple & Sage Stuffed Pork Chop. If there were 10 star option I would give Toscanos an 11. Keep up the great work, we will return hungry for more. read more

We just had a birthday dinner here today, for one they squeezed a group of 15 into a tiny little corner. The servers were all fairly nice except for the woman who brought us out our food treated us as if we were a bother, throwing attitude to all of us and her coworkers. The food was extremely disappointing especially the chicken fettuccine I had. The Caesar salad I started with was barely grazed with dressing and tastes pretty much like dirty Lettuce. The creamy garlic chicken fettuccine was far from creamy and quite bland. I actually had to put an entire dish of cheese and some salt on it to give it any flavor. This was our first trip to Toscanos, but it sure won't be our last! Great start, with bread and a creamy, warm crab-artichoke dip served the three of us very nicely. We had the salmon, the seafood papradelle and the dry-aged ribeye-all fantastic! And the service was just how I like it, neither intrusive, nor neglectful. Yummy cucumber martini, I bumped over was cleaned up and replaced, without a lot of fanfare. By the time, we finished up with that indulgent ice cream and brownie, drizzled with 2 sauces, and topped with a dollop of whipped cream, I could no more than taste it, but it was delicious! read more

After finishing our luke warm dinner at home (story to come), felt the need to post our probably last experience here.... Reservations for two at 7:45....got there a tad early, no biggie....seated at our reserved time. Took about 7-8 minutes before meeting our server, Michael. We weren't ready to order food yet, but put in our drink order. About 10 minutes later, they finally came....ordered the crab and artichoke dip with herbed bread. Another 7-8 minutes later, Michael came back to take our entree order. About 8:10 at this point. Appetizer came out 8:30. It was great. Refills of my iced tea finally started happening more frequently. 8:45, Michael says about 5 more minutes. 9pm rolls around and we couldn't handle the uncomfortable chairs any longer and asked him to just box up the meals to go. At least he seemed apologetic, unlike the manager, but that's skipping ahead.... Michael offered a comp desert choice...made our selection...meals came out ready to go, but another 5 minutes goes by before getting the $8.95 comp'd desert. Having enough of it all after nearly 90 minutes at this point, we asked to speak to the manager ....turns out he's the one that brought out our appetizer, not saying a word, or bussing the now semi cluttered 2 person table....but I digress.... He proceeds to tell us an excuse about a large party that sucked up their time. It felt like just an obligatory excuse with zero sincerity behind it. Food was good, pricey, but good. Ate here again recently and can firmly say that I enjoy their steaks and salads moreso than any of their other dishes. Service is always really good. Only note on this visit it that their dressings, while made in house, lack bite and acidity. On this visit I ordered the kale and avocado salad and added chicken and steak. Salad itself was wonderful and the chicken and steak were awesome but I tried the avocado vinaigrette, citrus vinaigrette, and blackberry vinaigrette and all three were very bland. Want to give an "atta boy" to the Toscanos staff. Last minute reservation for 10 folks from a trade show, ended up being a late seating at 8:30pm. Most of us arrived early, and even though they were completely packed with people, they helped accomodate our wait in the building lobby. Then, after being seated, one of our group wanted to have some fun and threw the waitress a curve ball, namely leaving the dinner selection up to her and the chef. They did a fantastic job and brought us varied dishes, many I would have never have thought to order. Everything was delicious and it seemed they enjoyed the experience along with us. My mom and I dined at Toscanos last night for the first time and I can easily say it's our new favorite spot for Italian food! The drinks, soup, bread, entrées, and service were incredible! We had the pleasure of having Robin as our server and she went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. After telling her it was our first time and asking her for recommendations, she was such a great help! She really took her time when stopping by our table to chat and answer any questions we had. Although we don't have any food allergies, she stated that Toscanos is very considerate of food allergies and they are happy to help accommodate their diners needs. She also shared some of the fun events that the restaurant hosts throughout the year. We started with a glass of prosecco and a tropical rum martini (one of the best drinks I've ever had). We went through a few baskets of some of the best bread ever! Since it was a chilly night, we each had a cup or soup, 1 cup of loaded baked potato and 1 cup of French onion. Both the soups were incredible, but we decided the baked potato was our favorite! We didn't get the martini clams this time around, but we will for sure get them next time!! For our entrees we had the chicken and mushroom fettuccine with garlic cream sauce and the artichoke stuffed chicken. They were out of this world!!! We were so full we realized that we made the rookie mistake of not saving any room for dessert. We will for sure plan better for next time! This a very overated establishment. It is so small that you have a hard time getting in to eat without a very long wait. Yes they accept reservations, but when you call at 4 pm for a 6:30 reservation on a Thursday and they tell you they can't help you this is ridiculous for a restaurant. This is more a bar than a restaurant. What makes it even worse is people go there for drinks and not eating and take up the few tables they have. The food is average and you can get better just up the road at Mama Stortinis. So my recommendation is avoid this place there are better places to eat!!!! read more

Took my family out to celebrate our daughter's graduation. Bad choice. The food was subpar at best and took over an hour to be served after we had ordered. The chicken parmesan was absolutely disgusting. The sauce tasted like a cheap jar of salsa and the chicken was dry. The risotto had quite a few strange flavor combinations that ruined what could have been a delicious dish. Our waitstaff were polite enough when we interacted, but did not bother checking in on us, nor letting us know why the wait was longer than an hour for our food to arrive. The older gentleman that posed as host for the evening was condescending and rude. He should not be interacting with the restaurant guests in my opinion as his comments and demeanor are wildly inappropriate. Overall, this place is overpriced, understaffed, and the food quality is not reflective of the price. Do yourself a favor and spend your money somewhere else. Made our first trip here recently. Wife had the Jalepeno-Lime Surf and Turf and I had the Osso Bucco. Brianna our waitress was fantastic as was the Bread, Appetizer, and Osso Bucco. The Surf and Turf was so bad that it took this from a 4+ star review to a 2 star and ultimately we likely will not be returning. The shrimp were raw, potatoes burnt so badly that it is hard to believe it left the kitchen, and while the meat was cooked perfectly it was surprisingly flavorless. Ordered the Gnocchi, a standard at any Italian restaurant. What should have been soft little pillows swimming in flavor turned out to be gooey, underdone blobs with a strong taste of raw flour. The drinks and service were impeccable. I can't remember the last time I was treated so well by wait staff. Everyone else at the table raved about their food. I tasted their brussel sprouts and their gravy--both excellent. Go for the booze. Go for the gravy and sprouts. Stay away from the noxious gnocchi. read more

Oh lord I don't even know where to start.... This is one of those reviews I dread writing because it makes me feel like a terrible person... BUT I'm an unbiased reviewer and feel that my experience was so extremely sub-par that I have to leave an honest review. Here it goes. I ventured to Toscano's with a couple friends for dinner as our friend has said they did a wine night there and had a good time. We didn't do a wine night though, we went for dinner and I regretted it. We waited about 15 minutes before anyone came to take our order (and in that time we had a couple different servers bring napkins, water, etc, so we weren't sure who to ask), so we kept chatting away. We finally put in our order and 45 minutes later our simple dishes of Spaghetti and a chicken dish came out and they were pretty flavorless. My boyfriend's said his spaghetti noodles were "burnt-tasting." I'm thinking this place is better for wine-nights and maybe not so much for food if you've got a developed palate. read more

For my last night in Puyallup, I wanted something I hadn't already had. There's not too much to choose from according to Yelp, but Italian sounded the most promising. That said, I'm glad I chose Toscanos. The second you walk in, you feel rich. The atmosphere of the room feels super fancy (soft lighting, wood decor, etc.), and though it looks small, there's a second story as well as outdoor seating. We were seated immediately as there weren't many people in the restaurant. With the exception of the music, which was every now and then a pop song instead of Italian music, it was nice a peaceful. While our waiter wasn't necessarily the most knowledgeable or excited, he most definitely did a great job serving us and I would not hold the negative comment against him nor the restaurant itself. I ordered a tomato salad and the Seafood Fettucini. The salad came rather quickly, which was a delight. It tasted delish, and was a perfect opener for the meal. The seafood was great and had an excellent a variety to it, not to mention the cream sauce which was perfect (didn't get hard or gross when it cooled). Needless to say, I was stuffed after the meal, so no worries about serving size. When it comes to Italian food, an Italian such as myself knows his stuff. This place was decent but it failed to live up to the expectations built-up by everyone here on Yelp. It started so-so as they seated us ~20 minutes late for our reservation but it quickly got better thanks to amazing bread and fantastic soup (the sausage and rice soup, for the lack of a formal name, was amazing) but the experience faltered again with our entrees. Both of our entrees were slightly over-cooked and lacked anything in the way of amazing flavors. The service was really good and I was impressed that the staff really seemed like they were a team and took care of other servers' tables as needed -- it made for a much more positive experience for us as customers. read more

Stopped by here on the way home for a little happy hour goodness. We had the bruchetta, which was really wonderful. The bread was toasted just right, the bruchetta had the right amount of flavor that you would want. I had a Stella to sip on, while my fiance and her mom had some wine which they really loved. Toscanos embarrassed us & themselves tonight by falling on their face with bad service, cold food & a table setting up stairs in a boardroom. If they tell you your party will be seated upstairs, cancel your reservation & go to the Old Country Buffet. The upstairs is a boardroom table in a neighboring construction business. Reserved the downstairs banquet room. Received an email 6 hours prior with information that the upstairs banquet room would be utilized. Until now, we had never had a bad meal at Toscano. Tonight it took 30 minutes to receive appetizers another 30 minutes for salads and another 40 minutes to get our dinners. These timelines don't include the time spent waiting for the waiter to take our orders. Veal was cold. The other 13 meals at the table varied from Luke warm to hot. Service was slow, bread bowls were left empty, long stretches of time with no waitstaff. My wife recommended Toscanos as an option for her company's Christmas party. The business owner agreed & cancelled the usual location. Little did she know that Toscanos was not capable of handling a party of 14. Seems strange as we have enjoyed meals with a party of 7 more than once. I can't express how bad this experience was given the fact that it was a Christmas Party. At a location recommended by my wife. I am sure that the ownership would be furious if they were treated in the same manner for their company party. The wonderful opportunity to spend the next 52 weeks listening to how bad the Christmas Party was is a gift that will never be forgotten. read more

Great atmosphere for talking with your friends, memorable martinis, respectable food, and good customer service At my first visit I had a lovely Dreamsicle Martini and the Gorgonzola Ravioli. The dreamsicle was supper yummy and the restaurant had no problem making the pasta dish without hazelnuts, which I am allergic to. The food is respectable. Not the class of Seattle restaurants but for Puyallup pretty much the best place I have found so far. At my second visit I had the Dreamsicle martini and Cucumber Basil Martini, Tomato Basil Bruschetta, Steak Trio and Bleu Chicken Flatbread Pizza. Again the food not memeroable but gosh that Cucumber Basil Martini is amazing. The incredible thing is that the staff remembered me and my friend and our food and drink preferences from the prior visit. Talk about service. read more

Whether for a quick bite at lunch (The truffled ham & Brie panini is fantastic!), a romantic dinner for two or one of their winemakers dinners, the food is always fresh and amazingly good! Both the chefs, Tom & Tony always create wonerfully delightful creations and if you ask nicely, they'll even whip up something for you that's not on the menu! You can't go wrong! read more

Really good. No complaints. Food was tasty. Server was great. Very gluten free aware. I had the risotto with shrimp and crab and my wife had the Angry Sea (essentially a deconstructed ciopino or diabblo di mare). Both were prepared well. The angry sea was very spicy which is a great thing. The risotto was creamy and finished nicely with olive oil. Would have been five stars if they used large shrimp and not tiny bay shrimp. Give me three good size ones instead of 25 bay shrimp. The texture of both dishes would have improved. We will come back again. read more

I've had lunch at Toscano's on several occasions and have enjoyed the well-presented food and service every time. The atmosphere is very nice with a natural and rustic feel. But what really prompted me to write this review was my last experience there while attending a networking meeting in their private banquet room. This is a perfect place to hold a round table discussion or networking meeting during the day. The setting is quiet, warm and conducive to conversation. And the massive TV is a great tool for presentation from a PC. The Wi-Fi internet came in very strong as well, which is a huge plus. read more

Wide variety of foods to choose fork on the menu. The service was beyond exceptional and the portions were more than what I was expecting. I started out with the crab and artichoke dip and I am not a fan of artichokes but this dip was melt in your mouth good! I decided to go with the chicken with garlic and cream sauce and I was not disappointed. Unlike other Italian restaurants I've been to, Toscanos is reasonably priced. Toscano's was a complete disappointment for a NYE celebration. To sum up the evening, the food took forever and it was overpriced for its lack of quality. I have no problem paying high dollar for good food, but the food has to be good for starters... Here we go-I started the evening with a glass of uppercut Sauvignon blanc. Terrible; had a nose on it like stinky feet and tasted sour as if the bottle had been open for quite some time. I sent it back and went for a familiar wine. When I ordered my entree (lamb), the waiter informed me they were out. It's NYE for goodness sake. Please do a better job with your inventory. So, I went with my second choice, the scallops. We waited at least 1 hour (I am being nice) between the time we received our salads and entrees. Yes, I understand you were busy being it was NYE, but our party didn't order anything that required that much time. When the food did arrive, the food was awful. I ordered scallops, which were cold and over seasoned. There was some herb that completely over powered the delicate scallops. The risotto side was dreadful. The only decent thing on that plate was the Brussel sprouts. I wanted to send it back for a hot dinner, but considering it took so long to get my first dinner, I didn't want to wait any longer. My boyfriend ordered the chicken and prawns. The chicken tasted like it was prepackaged from a low end grocery store. It was rubbery and flavorless. It was served with a pasta side that was nothing spectacular. The only positive for this chicken dish was the fact we didn't have to pay for it. Our waiter took it off our bill.
