Came in on a Saturday without reservations, so we grabbed seats in the bar area. The ambiance was dark and moody in a good way, and we were lucky to catch a live artist who sounded great. Food and drinks were great - the tomahawk steak was lovely and my usual cocktail was spot on, Midori Sour. Our waitress was friendly, but the service lacked urgency. She kept forgetting to place some of our orders and even told us multiple times that she forgot to put in the oysters... which we never ended up getting. I know the bar area isn't always treated like full dining, but the lack of attentiveness was noticeable. I get it when people say it's a casino steakhouse, but the best steakhouse I've eaten at (many times) is at a casino in Wendover, the Rainbow, so it's not just judging casino food. The desert was the star, next up the shrimp cocktail. The steak was average at best, but overall a good experience....other than the wedge salad which was good, but literally a half head of iceberg lettuce, just too much. The views from this rooftop restaurant are great! The ambiance is amazing and the service is wonderful. Most of the food we ordered was good as well, except... The crab and some of the mussels on the seafood tour were overcooked, so the meat turned out really dry. The Tableside Tomahawk was ordered at medium rare but was served closer to rare. While it's not a big deal to leave feedback with the server and ask for the steak to be cooked closer to our liking, it's disappointing to have to do that in the first place at a restaurant of this caliber. Everything still tasted good, but would have preferred if everything was cooked properly the first time. Still a great experience though! read more

I never knew this restaurant existed at EQC! Head past the hotel lobby and take the elevator up to the 11th floor to get there. The ambiance was nice, I definitely want to come back to hang out at the outdoor lounge. I took my mom to eat here before gambling. We had the ribeye, bone-in filet mignon, Spanish octopus, wild mushrooms and truffle fingerlings. All dishes were tasty and my steak was cooked perfectly. Our server was great too. The Galaxy Moscow Mule was the prettiest drink and unique with the Butterfly Pea Flower flavored ice cubes. Although I wish I could give this place 5 stars, I cannot. Went here for a special occasion and it failed me/us. I was really excited because I was hoping for a wonderful dinner but it lacked service and quality of food. Now, the ambiance was great because you are at the EQC Hotel which is brand new and beautiful. Just entering the garage and going toward the lobby and going to the rooftop restaurant was a nice experience, since it is not busy, and is adjacent to the casino but no casino machines. Once you get to the top, the restaurant itself is beautiful. Unfortunately, they were busy and it didn't seem like they were well staffed so our waiter was nervous. The steak we ordered "medium" was over well done which is not Ok. So told them and they did it again, but you can imagine, to do that it takes time and it is not the best experience. Wish they had compensated us for this lack of details and experience but o-well. I won't be back any time soon. read more

I would say that this is a fun and very expensive date night spot. It is located at the EMC Hotel and just a short walk to the Casino next door. This restaurant has a very nice, romantic steakhouse atmosphere. Service was not lacking. The menu was on the steeper side. The Seafood tower will set you back $125 and the Tomahawk $198 but hey, you can win it all back at the Casino right? Haha. That would be a great night! The food was really good. Ribeye was cooked to a perfect medium rare. Seasoning wasn't overpowering. Big enough for 2. The sides are also shareable and we ordered the mushrooms. OMG. Best mushroom medley I've ever had! I couldn't get enough. I loved the King Trumpet mushroom that almost tasted meaty and I just love little porcinis. They also have a lot of fancy cocktails if that's your thing. Con: The oysters that night were the size of a nickel. Sweet? Yes but not worth the $40/dozen. The Brie appetizer was interesting because it came w a few berries and roasted garlic but we didn't have anything to put it on. No toast or crackers. So we didn't really know how to eat it. Were we supposed to eat it with the complimentary bread rolls? All in all, it was good but there are other amazing steakhouses in the area that won't break the bank. If you order the tomahawk steak, it comes with two sides and this amazing sauce made with cognac. Drooling. The garlic mash was okay but the Brussels sprouts were 100x better. That, paired with the steak and the sauce. Chef's kiss. The strawberry lemonade was not what I was expecting, given the presentation of everything else, I would have at the very least expected some muddled strawberries in it! The steak was so juicy. Though we admired it from afar, the seafood tower looked AMAZING! We started with the Lobster Bisque @ $17 and the French onion soup@ $14. The Lobster bisque was smooth and velvety on the tongue and had a nice piece of claw meat, something not seen in many places. My French onion soup was good but it would have been better served in a crock. We had the clam chowder the night before and that was great. My companion ordered the Lobster Capellini @ $55 and I ordered the Tuscan Beef Tenderloin Pasta @ $42. Both were outstanding. The tricky part of both dishes is the pasta. You can jazz up any plate with Lobster and Beef Tenderloin but to time the pasta with the proteins, that's the thing. Lobster, Tenderloin and pasta were outrageous. We both loved our plates. As it was my companion's birthday, we both enjoyed a comped desert sampler that complemented our meal. Prices are in keeping with any good restaurant that serves great faire! Get a players card in the casino and get a minimum of 10% discount or more. Also, I believe, Emerald Queen Casino charges no state or local tax on Restaurants. Now, the best part the service! The entire wait staff and bartenders are the star. And 1 star that shines very bright was our waiter, Sam. He was as personable and professional without being overbearing or hovering. We've had great meals that have been ruined by poor service. I sometimes feel like the next "meal" for our wait staff as they hang on you like a vulture. We decided to inquire about the food here instead. This restaurant is conveniently located near the casino and hotel lobby, right by the freeway, and offers a view of the local Tacoma homes. We visited on Valentine's Day around 4:40 PM without a reservation and were fortunate to find seating at the bar. We were informed that the menu here is the same as at their other restaurant. The view was absolutely gorgeous, the ambiance was cozy, and the food was fabulous. While the prices are on the higher end, they are worth it. I ordered the Jumbo Prawns wrapped in bacon and stuffed with crab meat ($45), and my boyfriend had the Cedar Plank Salmon ($39) with a shareable side of asparagus ($13). The staff were very attentive, personable, and professional. This restaurant is excellent for date night, and we can't wait to return to try their Seafood Tower ($125). read more

We had a great anniversary dinner at Slahal Steakhouse on a Friday night. My husband & I shared a wedge salad (it's huge), and we both ordered the filet mignon Oscar-style, and a side of garlic mashed potatoes. The steaks were cooked perfectly. The only reason for 4 stars is because the crab in the "Oscar" was very fishy. Unlike any crab we have had previously. It is an extra $25 for Oscar-style. When our server asked how our meal was & we told him about the fishy crab, he immediately removed the extra charge for the Oscar. The manager came to our table and apologized for the crab, & said that they were investigating and pulling the crab they had prepped until they determined the cause. That in itself impressed upon us that this steakhouse truly cares about their customers and experience. Well done Slahal! Because it was our anniversary, we received a complimentary dessert sampler with two flavors of macrons, several tartlets, & berries, with dry ice in the center of the platter that flowed over the table. Such a pretty touch. Our server, Tristan, was fantastic and very on-point. He was extremely professional, and it's obvious that he cares about the experience his customers receive. Very friendly, positive, and respectful. Five stars for Tristan! The ambience was great. We came here to eat for Christmas Eve and it was so worth it! We came in with no reservations and was seated in less than 5 minutes. Our server came by and asked us about drinks. Then she came back and took our main orders. I ordered the ribeye 12oz and my husband got the New York Au Poivre 11oz. We also ordered shareable sides of grilled asparagus and wild mushrooms. We also updated our appetizer to clam chowder and it WAS GOOD!! The ribeye was so tender and the cook was great for medium rare. The mushrooms were out of this world! They put magic in it or something. The asparagus were tasty as well but the tomatoes that came with it weren't great. By the time I finished chewing it, I was taking out the stuff I couldn't eat which was mostly skin. This place was great! I've been to Slahal twice now. Once for a new year's celebration where a special menu was offered and the second time for my husband's birthday dinner. Both times we had the same server who was very quick, attentive and had great suggestions. This most recent time, we ordered the seafood tower, the tomahawk (which was prepared table side) and our friends ordered the Chilean sea bass and a New York steak. They gave us a complimentary dessert platter for my husband's birthday with a variety of small bites, a lemon tart, macarons and some chocolates. As far as ambience goes, there was live music and a pretty view out the window of Tacoma. Everyone was so impressed by the quality of the food and the service provided. The wine selection was wonderful. My husband and my bill was about $400, which felt reasonable for an expensive steak house feel and the large items we ordered. I had a seat in the bar and decided to try the beet salad and a dirty vodka martini. They were close to closing, but were super accommodating! It was a chilly night but the heaters and the ambiance made it well worth it. They were a little short staffed so I wasn't too pleased with how long it took for me to get my drink let alone my food. My husband, daughter and I came here for dinner while in town for a soccer tournament. We had an 8:00 reservation. We were greeted by the host and sat right away when we arrived. For our meals we ordered the chicken dish and the filet mignon. The meals came with your choice of soup or salad. The steaks came out cooked perfectly medium rare. They were so tender and seasoned and were so delicious. My husband's chicken came out juicy and had a sauce on it and was very flavorful. Everything came out hot and fresh. We added grilled asparagus and the smash potato. They were large enough to share between the 3 of us. Our server was Emely. She was amazing! Super friendly and nice. She checked back with us multiple times but didn't do it too much. We enjoyed our meal here and would definitely recommend it to others. Our dinner here was perhaps the oddest experience I have had at a restaurant. We were a group of 4 coming to grab dinner before an 8 pm show. We showed up around 5:30 and were told they had a waitlist. We put our name on the list and were then told we couldn't grab a drink at the bar even though there were empty seats. Despite that we still went to the bar and had 0 issues. Fast forward an hour and we were notified our table was ready. When we then went to the host we were told they didn't have a table for us and it was all open seating. We still have no idea what the waitlist was about but obviously we were irritated and thankfully a manager stepped in and did his best to figure things out. He told us we could have dinner on the patio but when we got to the table the man cleaning the table said we couldn't sit there. The manager came up and corrected the person and finally we were seated. The manager surprised us and put in an order of scallops to make up for the confusion which was a great touch. After about 10 minutes and two visits from the manager the server showed up to take our drink order. We figured at this point things were going to be smooth. The waiter informed us the kitchen was backed up and warm food could take awhile which was appreciated. We decided we could be late to the show so we ordered a few steaks and some drinks. Food arrived about 30 minutes later but not our drinks. We reminded the server again who asked what we ordered and went to get them. Honestly the food was pretty good but my steak was way overcooked for medium rare with just a hint of pink in it. Given the wait for food I said screw it and didn't complain, again it tasted pretty good. This was honestly bottom 5 service experience I've had in my life and this was a $100 per person experience. Thank god the manager worked so hard and was so kind, I may give them a second chance just based on him and the bartenders, but I'll need some time before doing so. read more

Security guard present and the hotel front desk clerks are all nice. The elevator to the SLAHAL steakhouse is within 20 steps take two left turns from hotel lobby. I like the atmosphere because one area is formal dining and also has fire places outside fresh air with panoramic views of tacoma water front and on a good day mount Rainer views. My dinner was delicious, and plating was also appetizing. Thanks to the culinary team, my dining experience calls for Michelin stars to visit. five stars earned. read more
