We were extremely disappointed with our meals, seating, wait time and lack of service New Year's Eve. Waited over 30 minutes after our reservation time. Communal table where others at our table we finishing their salad when we were finally seated. Salmon was salty and dry. Steak was ordered medium served, well done. Crab topping tasted like canned crab. After being served our main course we did not see our server again. Desserts were unimpressive. Wines were not to our liking. My husband and I went there for our 26th Wedding Anniversary. I called a week ahead and asked to be put at their most romantic table. They sat the couple ahead of us at the table by the fire and stuck us back in a corner. We asked to be moved at least to a window. Anniversaries are very special to me and I feel they should have sat us at the table by the fire so that put a damper on the whole evening for me. We called to make reservations for lunch. They said they were not taking reservations, to just come in. So we did. We were there in 8 minutes. "Do you have reservation?". (??!!) We said no. Then were told we had to wait then. We waited 15 minutes. There were only a few people sitting. Lots of empty tables. Lots! This isn't the first time this has happened. We ended up leaving and going to HG Bistro! Where they are always so nice and accommodating. Not sure what is going on with Toscanos. The past year the service has been poor. read more

Went there for the first time on Sunday (10/21) by a recommendation from friends. It's a nicely decorated restaurant, the host seated us quickly and waitress took our drink and food orders quickly. Our drinks and some bread arrived promptly but, the food we waited for over 50 minutes for our lunches. The server stopped to say our order was on its way and 25 minutes later, she was right. If you're in a hurry or really hungry,I would avoid Toscanos. The food just isn't worth the wait. read more

Toscanos is by far my favorite restaurant in Puyallup and better than many fine restaurants in Seattle. After living in Seattle for years, it was difficult to move to the burbs and the endless chain restaurants. When Toscanos opened it was a little slice of big city bistro dining. I've been to Toscanos countless times and have never been disappointed. In fact when I walk out the door I can't wait to go back. The wine list is very nice and doesn't have the markup other 'nice' Puyallup restaurants and wine bars have. The cocktails always exceed my expectations. From a classic vodka or gin martini with top shelf liquor to my summer favorite - the basil cucumber martini I'm always pleased. It is the most refreshing drink I've found! Appetizers are quite yummy. I'm partial to the martini clams but discovered the spicy pescatora prawns. I will order those again. There is a great selection of pastas, seafood, chicken, beef and veal. I always start with the blue cheese house salad and have many favorite entrees. You can't go wrong with the Filet Mignon especially if choose one of the special preparations. I rarely order chicken in restaurants but the chicken saltimbocca was so good on a friends plate that I will order this soon. The pastas are quite good but when in the mood for something rich and decadent, I order the gorgonzola ravioli. Last night I tried the tenderloin medallions, marinated in rosemary and red wine and wrapped in prosciutto. Yet another dish I will consider and toil over on my next trip, too many proven dishes to choose from. Prices may be high for a Puyallup restaurant but there is a reason and it is still a great value when you put it up against other great bistros in the South Sound and Seattle area. Excellent Italian restaurant located between Puyallup and Sumner just off highway 410. The decor is pleasant, the lighting just enough to give it a romantic feel and not overwhelm your eyes. The ambient music level was at the perfect level. Spacious locale with open ceiling and varying types of seating to choose from. Fairly priced alcohol list with a great selection of wine. I had the Riesling. The staff was attentive and friendly without being too intrusive. Wait time for dishes was reasonable. Opened with a chicken curry soup that was rich and smooth. I had the seafood fettuccine and my wife had a New York steak. The seafood had a fair balance of the various added ingredients. It was delicious and the pasta was cooked perfectly. My wife enjoyed her steak. We finished the evening with a tasty fudge cake filled with cream cheese and covered in whipped cream with a side of vanilla ice cream. Worth a visit. read more

The problem with Toscanos is that you get good days and bad days. On a good day it can be a very pleasant experience but on a bad day it can be the pits. We just had a bad day last week. We sat outside, a party of three and for some reason the service was deplorable. After we sat down we waited simply ages for any kind of service. In the end we had to enlist the services of a buss boy to go find out waitress. After eventually ordering the meal was twenty minutes or more before it appeared and it was only Luke warm and just not very good at all. When we mentioned our displeasure we got the usual sob story about how busy they were when in fact it was just a typical evening attendance. We did receive a discount but that didn't make up for the spoilt evening. It turned out to be a 90 minute meal that should have been completed in half that. It may be a while before I venture back. A favorite of ours! My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner last night to celebrate my birthday. We were quickly seated at a comfortable spot in their nicely decorated and softly lit room. Great atmosphere. It was a bit noisy with a full house at the tables and wine bar as we arrived at the height of the dinner hour. Next time it will be 8:00 as it became much more comfortable. The wait staff was friendly and attentive and offered the perfect advice on their extensive menu. We each started off with one of their wines from their huge selection. This wasn't our first time at Toscanos so we knew that we would love just about any one of their selections. Had the capresse salad to start which was generously proportioned even though we asked to split the dish. Tasty but wished they used burrata for the fresh mozzarella. They have fantastic bread which is a must for me at a nice restaurant. My husband enjoyed the ahi served with risotto and I had the chicken with prawns served with pasta and zucchini. They make all their desserts in house so we topped off our dinner with the most amazing cheesecake which was so large that we couldn't finish--took it home to enjoy later. Would have given a 4.5 rating if available. I only rate a 5 if there is absolutely no room for improvement. We love this place and recommend it to all. read more

Really bad. Terrible service. I think our server was "challenged" in some way and mixed up quite a number of things, and we were nearly the only people in the restaurant at the time. Our drinks were watery and room temperature, but they should have been served ice cold. The food was entirely non-descript and over-priced. Then the manager stopped by at the end of our meal and put the guilt trip on us for not ordering dessert! She was really pushy about it. This is one of my favorite places to dine. My husband and I love to come celebrate our anniversaries here (we always get a coupon for a free appetizer or $ off our meal), as well as enjoy the music on the patio in the summers. The food is delicious and fresh, and I have never had a meal I didn't enjoy. The priuscutto wrapped mozarella is our favorite app! I also love the ravioli and chicken parmesan. But like I said, every meal is delicious. I also love the Martini Madness every March... beautiful hand painted glasses with a creative martini. The staff is always friendly and attentive. I guess i have to select a star but if it was up to me I wouldn't give it anything. I have not tasted their food but baste on their employee's and phone ethics I wont bother. I called to try and make a reservation I was hung up on twice when I could clearly hear people talking in the back ground. I tried again about 1/2 hrs later and got a girl that sounded like I was a bother and was very RUDE, when I asked about another time she preceded to start talking to another girl and hung up on me. I will never try their food if that is the kind of service they have. Get employees that enjoy dealing with people and enjoy their job. read more

This is not my favorite restaurant. We arrived just before five on a Tuesday. The restaurant was pretty much empty, but we had to sit in the bar because we didn't make reservations. It's a very small restaurant so reservations are always necessary here. I ordered a lemon drop from the happy hour menu. It was fantastic. They only have three beers on tap, and the one Ray chose was pretty good. They brought us bread to dip in oil and balsamic vinegar. It was hard as a rock! I nearly broke my tooth! I looked around at others and they all had nice soft bread. The bread was so hard that when i dropped it on the plate it clinked. It kinda ruined the dinner for us because we are bread people. We don't eat it often but when we do it needs to be good. That bread tasted like it was left over from last night's dinner and re-heated. And while the food was acceptable though not exceptional, just because we were served rock hard bread and expected to like it, we will not return to this restaurant ever. The server explained that the bread takes twenty minutes and that she cut our bread from a dry hard loaf so we wouldn't have to wait for the fresh baked bread. Now how does that make sense? The fresh baked bread went out to all the people around us as they arrived. We did not feel like our business was appreciated at all. Mama Stortini's has them beat by a land slide. I honestly cannot figure out how Toscano's has a higher rating than Mama Stortini's right next door. Way classier. read more

As I write this, I'm sitting at a restaurant down the street. I came in with one other person for lunch to a fairly empty restaurant. The waitress left us standing for 5 minutes while she appeared to be ringing in an order. When she finally acknowledged us, she told us she could not seat us for 10-15 minutes. I asked if we could seat ourselves at the completely empty bar to which she replied "yeah but it will still be 10-15 minutes. I'm waiting on another staff member to show up". She could have easily allowed us to sit and handed us a water while we waited for service. Very disappointing experience! read more

So good! The seafood fettuccini was delicious! My mother in law and I stopped in for an early dinner one evening and she asks to go back to this place every time she visits. Our server was wonderful! I had my baby and my 5 year old with us and the staff was kind and accommodating. This place is fine if you have well behaved little ones but I would not recommend taking kiddos there during those grab bag phases where you don't know what you'll get behavior wise. We are in one of those phases right now with our youngest so we save this for adult only outings. read more

Definitely not what you would call a good or fun experience. Having driven past Toscanos on many occasions we decided to try their happy hour. Big mistake! There was nothing happy about this experience and when we were finally noticed it was most apparent that we were not "regulars". There was a single server who was also tending the bar and it took forever to order a drink and appetizers. We nearly walked out, did not but should have. When the Happy Hour sliders finally arrived, they were so thin that even the bar tender had to lift the tops off of each in order to tell us which was which. Horrible experience! read more

I went to Toscano's for the first time today, and I will definitely be going back. I love how the bread came with balsamic vinegar and oil for dipping, and it was so soft! I got the 1/2 panini and a cup of soup which was filling and yummy. I originally was going to get the Tuscan soup, but the server Jessica told me about their carrot soup. She highly recommended it, and even offered to get me a different soup if I tried it and didn't like it. I very much appreciated that, and I'm glad I went with her suggestion because the carrot soup was delicious! I am now inspired to make one at home. I will definitely be going back there. read more

My wife and I had lunch there Friday 5/17/18. I had a dish that was braised beef and mushrooms. She had a salmon dish. Her dish had about as much salmon as what they might see on Venus. I am posting at 8:20 P.M. Saturday, 5/12/18. I have been sick to my stomach since eating there. The water they brought to our table had a bug in it. The service is definitely lacking, though... the staff is very friendly and helpful, but this is not a place to eat if you are in a hurry to get somewhere else. My girlfriend and I went here for dinner last night. I was not impressed with this place at all. Their white wine selection was terrible. For an appetizer we ordered the fruit and cheese plate. There was two types of cheese, neither good. Only one type of nut which was a macadamia nut, only strawberries, and a humus that was mediocre. When I see fruit and cheese plate on a menu I expect a variety of cheeses and fruits, usually grapes since thats a great pairing for wine, and typically there are a few different types of nuts. For dinner I had the pan seared scallops with risotto. This plate was a train wreck. First of all it was covered in undercooked green beans caked in pepper. They looked like cactus leaves and tasted raw with pepper on them. The dish looked like it had a rain forrest on it. The scallops had no seasoning. Although cooked well they were just bland and underseasoned. The most frustrating thing was the risotto. I was very excited to have a nice risotto but this was gross. It wasn't even a risotto it was more like a rice pilaf. I've had the luxury of eating at great resturants like Gordon Ramsay at the London in Hollywood so I am well versed in what a risotto is and what it should look and taste like. This was well under par. Not too mention I couldn't even see it under the mounatin of raw green beans. I actually asked the server where the risotto was and she told me, "its under there somewhere". Really??? The chef should be embarrassed with this dish. Read and heed this review and I will save you a hundred bucks. Thats right, dinner for two with an app and wine cost $100. I can think of a hundred different way I would have rather spend the money. My girl and I actually went out to eat after eating here.
