I haven't heard good or bad reviews from my peers so I thought maybe we could give Toscano's a chance. If I were going for Happy Hour and some appetizers I would have been wowed, no doubt. The hostess looked at us as if her mind had blanked as to what she was supposed to say and do when someone walks in. Her discomfort conveyed awkwardness. Our server was very nice and very hospitable. Even though nearly every table was full when we arrived we did not feel forgotten or neglected. The wine was smooth and delicious! We had the Hyatt wine. We had a tomato salad and were going to share so they went ahead and put it on two plates. How nice! That was a great gesture, but the salad itself was not impressive. The lettuce was limp, the mozarella plain and there wasn't much tomato for a tomato salad. The ahi we had for our appetizer was to die for! So tender and just a subtleness of flavor on the outside crust. We had the gorgonzola ravioli and the chocolate pork. The ravioli was beautiful to the eye, but underwhelming to the taste buds. I did not taste the gorgonzola whatsoever. But hey, at least it tasted good. The pork was SO good, the best pork I had ever had. We were both pleased with the flavor of the chocolate and the pork. As I got halfway through one of the pieces of pork I looked and saw that it was completely R A W in the center. Not cooked. Yikes. I instantly lost my appetite and mentioned it to the server. I felt bad as I hate complaining or being a pest, but raw pork??!! I have to say something. She came back a short while later with a message from the cook. He told her to let us know that, "they are making pork now that does not have to be completely cooked." Apparently he also asked her to offer us a dessert to split. Hmmm...I'm pretty sure I don't want anything else that comes from their kitchen dessert or not. Who knows what goes on behind the scenes if they do not cook pork up to health department standards. I might trust someone to make a drink as long as I am right there but you never know. I did have to call and report that because they could really make someone sick and the individual I spoke with at the health department assured me pork has always and is always to be fully cooked to a certain temperature. I was not pleased with the message about the pork. They can't "make" pork any different and treating me like an idiot does not help the matter. And I had to pay for an undercooked dinner that I could not eat. We should have gone to Marzano's. read more

I've been to Toscanos several times and each time I am beyond satisfied with the quality of the food. They are great at handling special orders and adjusting to customers needs. My mother has a lot of food allergies, and Toscanos has a lot of options to substitute. I have no problem paying the extra dollar for their quality of food and service. My roommate and I love going out to eat and are both waitresses and like to tip at least 30%. Since we are both teenagers we usually get terrible service since servers think we are going to stiff them. Our server was pretty rude, seemed distant and really careless. Took forever for us to get sat when they weren't even busy at all. Took over 40 minutes for us to get our food, which was pasta and a medium rare steak salad. Does Toscanos personally make their pasta from scratch per order, then boil and cook the pasta? Seemed like it since it took forever to get our food. My steak came out well done. I sent it back and they replaced it with a steak cooked medium-medium well, still not medium rare like I asked. Even if my steak was cooked well, the salad still would have lacked in flavor. Just romaine lettuce with a slab of poorly cooked meat and some blue cheese sprinkles on it. Terrible and not worth the 16 dollars. Definitely won't be coming back. Ever. read more

I was very disappointed in my meal. The risotto was under cooked and my seafood was actually raw and cold. I sent it back and it was hot but taste was bland and not worth ordering the dish. I've had good luck there in the past but this was aweful. read more

My wife and I have been here a handful of times, and each visit we've been impressed with everything! The food has been amazing - last two visits I've had the Spaghetti Bolognese w/ meatballs, and Chicken Parm - the wine list is extensive but not over-priced, and the cocktails have been delightful. The service has always been great as well. It's not a big space but we've always been able to find a table without reservations - though we haven't tried going during typical prime time rushes, so a reservation might be in order if you're looking to go Friday or Saturday night. Extremely pleased with our dinner. Started with goat cheese crostini topped with a strawberry appetizer that was uniquely delicious. My meal was tenderloin alla Parma, it was cooked perfectly and loaded with flavor. I have been dining at Toscano's Cafe and Wine Bar in Puyallup on a regular basis since they opened in 2004. Having had well over 100 meals at Toscano's since it's opening, I can truly say I have not had a bad meal or experience there yet! It is one of the most consistent quality dining experiences in the Pacific Northwest. The menu has enough variety for everyone and the daily specials are always great! Their wait staff is friendly, knowledgeable and is always willing to go the extra mile to make the dining experience memorable. My favorite go to for amazing service and food in Sumner. Small intimate feel, warm fireplace, and you can make reservations same day. My favorite dish is the smoked salmon tortellini. It's amazing every time! Amazing specialty drinks, and they even send you home with custom hand painted martini glasses for Martini Madness in March. read more

We come here often, but never for lunch. DONT COME FOR LUNCH! The hostess is the worst. Passed by the front desk numerous times and never ackowledged anyone for a ling time. Short staffed, but between hostess and manager there are 4 people on the floor. Have been sat for about 30 minutes, no drinks delivered and had to ask for bread. First time for my Dad and pretty sure I'll never get him back here. Such a shame as the food is good. UPDATE: Our meal was also screwed up, but the Manager came over and they comp'd our meal. I gave this 4 stars because they can pretty much make anything on their menu gluten free. They even bring gluten free bread to the table. My chicken was dry but my husband's calimari steaks were cooked perfect. The veggies were bright and cooked to perfection, and they have a wonderful wine list. read more

I'm not sure why this place has such a great reputation, but we were sorely disappointed. We are newer to Puyallup and drive by every day, so had to stop in for a drink and check it out. The wine was good, but the cocktail was something you'd expect to find at a bad chain restaurant. The antipasto platter we ordered was a bad joke. Described as a "meat and cheese plate with other goodies from the kitchen" presented as a "leftover stuff we have in the kitchen" there were two pieces of prosciutto, rolled up provolone and salami slices. The rest was sautéed veggies, deli meat with mustard, an eggplant mixture, a few shrimp and a couple pieces of toasted bread. The most disappointing part were a few dry lettuce leaves with some red cabbage tossed on top which appeared to be an addition to just fill up the plate. Definitely not what I expected from a place with a good rep in town. Maybe the entrees or happy hour are what make this place so popular? read more

Have been here a few times and it is always good. They have a great happy hour that goes from 3 - 6 with a nice variety of drinks and appetizers. My family & I just got home & I HAD to write a review right away! Although we didn't have reservations, we were seated immediately. Stephanie, our server was excellent. She made perfect suggestions & provided additional information for their cooking classes as well as their wine nights (which we will be doing as soon as we can). The service was only eclipsed by the food. Each dish was prepared perfectly & the flavors were such a delight to our taste buds! Good food. Lamb chops were cooked simply and well without burying the flavor of the meat and and the garnish was similarly effective but understated. Attentive service, especially given that it was New Year's Day. Our server Tisa was great and happily helped us with our nightmare of a bill. My wife, son and nephew went in for a lunch on a Monday afternoon and the restaurant was pretty empty. The food was pretty good (4 stars) except my wife didnt care for the steak wrap, but it is what it is. The reason for the 2 star rating was mainly cause the waitress that was serving us. At first she came off as ok, but then later on she came off a little stand offish. After the meal she basically forced us to fill out these birthday card surveys that we kindly refused and oh boy she did not like that at all. We paid and left and decided even though the food was good the service could be better except the initial greeter (she was very friendly). Well i am at home balancing my checkbook several days later and it seems that waitress decides to add another dollar on the bill .............REALLY? read more

I've eaten at Toscanos several times, however my favorite thing to do is sip a Bombay Saphire martini at the bar on a Friday evening. The atmosphere is fun and I've heard some great local musicians. Drinks - raspberry ice tea - good Entree - 8 oz Ribeye with mashed potatoes.......they had to take my plate back because I discovered plastic in the butter that they serve on top of the steak.
