I love this place , and what's better than noodles. I got the garlic noodle combo and vegetables potstickers. The bowl of noodles were so large, I'm glad that I only ordered one and shared it with my daughter. We also had the Thai tea in a pouch It was OK. The restaurant is super cute clean and the staff was nice patient and helpful. My teenage daughter also loved this place aesthetics and food. She said that she will be back with her and her friends.

Ever since this opened up during my undergrad days, I can't believe I never left a review for Toss Noodle Bar! Especially since I'm someone who loves noods! I really like their option to build your own bowl. Step 1: Choose your base You can choose noodles (they have a whole list of options! I'm partial to spinach and Hokkien noodles), or steamed or fried rice (white or brown, with brown costing more). Step 2: Add your flavor Choose between wok-toss, soup, or curry Step 3: Pick your protein Options include tofu, chicken, beef, pork, prawn, combo There's also options for chef's special, quick bites, or chicken satay or BBQ pork on skewers. Glad to see that of all the establishments that have come and gone in Berkeley over the years, Toss is still around.

When a friend first recommended Toss, I thought we were going to a salad restaurant. Toss is a casual, student-focused destination (very close to Cal). You stand in line, order, and take a number. Food is delivered to the table. This is my second time here. Each time we've had a group of four or more. The process is efficient, and service is efficient. The noodles are delicious! We had a mix of dishes and all were pleased. The ratings from our group of six ranged from 7 to 9.3 (really). And special kudos to them for having Hitachino White Ale, a Belgian-style beer from Japan. Overall, highly recommended when you are looking for a casual, quick and tasty meal.

Love Toss for a simple, consistent meal in the UCB area. You decide the type odd noodles or rice. The type of protein, the type of sauce. On this evening they had a special added to their board...eggplant basil. The eggplant was yummy. (didn't care for frozen chicken slices (B), but loved the prawns. Had red curry with prawns (A)... and the coconut prawns.... Paid $45 for 2 meals.... very happy with my dinner. Thank you for simple, good value, decent food.. clean restaurant. Sharine

Came with the family and got way too much food. Kind of pricey for what you get but the servings were huge. We got 3 orders of the garlic noodles and a fried rice. The noodles were nice and chewy. Good garlic flavor but not too much. Fried rice was as expected but it was good. Food came out fast too which e appreciated. We'd definitely come back again, but would order less.

I've been coming to Toss Noodle Bar since 2021, and I'm glad the food quality has stayed consistent every time. My go to is the garlic noodle with hoikken noodles and shrimp, which also comes with bean sprouts, always flavorful and satisfying!! For drinks, the Thai tea is my favorite, their matcha looks like a newer addition and definitely worth trying. They use paper straws, which is eco friendly, but since I don't finish my drink right away, I grab an extra because the straw gets flimsy later on. The place has plenty of seating and a restroom. It can get busy since it's near a school I think. Staff are all accommodating & friendly. Parking is limited out front, but you'll find paid parking around the block. Still one of my favorite noodle spots!

Yummy noodles! Cute place, very easy to order, & really nice people! Food came out fast and was so good, very flavorful! They have pictures of the noodles and descriptions of the sauces which is also very helpful.

I love coming here! I always get the combo sauce of Thai and maylai idk how to spell what I got but I added pineapple for extra $3 and I love getting the brown rice option

When you come to Berkeley, there's always good cultural places to eat. Toss was a great find close to Berkeley HS after a tournament. Interior has a cool urban vibe as college towns have. The establishment was clean and inviting. I'd hang here if I were a student. Service was delightful. Food arrived quickly. I love the concept. - pick a noodle (or base) - pick a sauce (wok-toss, soup, or curry) - pick a protein You can probably come here and try hundreds of combinations and can't go wrong. We ordered: - flat rice, laksa with combination protein - wheat, Malay with pork - spicy Thai chicken basil with flat rice Everything we ordered was delicious and flavorful! If you're in the area, be sure to give Toss a try!

No real complaints here. I could really see myself being a regular here if I was a UC Berkeley student and still had my college food palate. Nothing really stood out with the Thai noodles I ordered, pretty good overall but not wow'd at all. One of the workers was a little rude to my friend which I thought was unwarranted. I don't think I'd come back to be honest. Cool concept though!

I went to Toss a bunch as an undergrad at Cal and have amazing memories here. Now living in SF, I still crave the hokkien noodles here! My friend and I were driving to Concord and when they mentioned they wanted noodles, I knew we had to come to Toss. My order is always the hokkien noodles with Malay and Thai Sauce and Chicken. Food was ready in around 10 minutes. Super yummy as usual !! This spot is definitely a MUST for anyone living in the area!

Love this concept! Build your own noodle bowl! Lots of great choices of noodles and toppings to choose from. Counter service- you put in your order at the counter and they bring you your order. The place fun and clean!

The corn cakes were fried just right so they were golden on the outside but soft on the inside and the slaw and sweet sauce elevated it. I would get both appetizers again. For entrees we had: Mama Pad Kee Moa (3.5/5) - instant noodles with fresh veggies and very thin beef. Flavor was good, but the beef missed the mark because it was lacking. Massaman Gai Curry (5/5) - the curry was so flavorful in this dish and the soft potato complimented it very well. Definitely the winner of the night. Chicken Khao Pad (Fried Rice) (3/5) - rice was a little too dry and the thinly cut chicken again did not pop out in the dish. Overall, very fresh and authentic Thai dishes. The green curry noodles came with vermicelli, and I wanted to try it since it's what they recommend, but it just was not the right texture for the curry I felt. If you're going for the first time (or even if you're not), do yourself a favor and get the beef or nikutama. Street parking which wasn't hard to find is about $4 per hour. I was able to park literally right in front of the restaurant. Came on a Thursday around 2pm. We ordered: 1. Large Nakutama (cold): I've had this dish before a bunch of times and today the broth or meat had an odd taste to it. It almost tasted gamey like they meat was old or something. About 40 mins later I had a pretty bad stomach ache and had to use the restroom. Not sure if it was a coincidence or what. My wife had a small amount and agreed that there was an odd taste but she didn't have any stomach issues after eating it (but she also only had a small bite). 2. Large Shrimp BK: This was alright. The noodles were significantly overcooked and bloated. Not sure how that happened since they looked like they were freshly making it. The shrimp tempura was good though. 3. Tempura Pumpkin, potato Croque, Sweet potato and Crab: Honestly the tempura was the best item on the menu. I really liked the Pumpkin and imitation crab while my wife liked the sweet potato the most. Overall food quality probably 2/5 stars. The only saving grace for this location was the guy running the register who was awesome and super nice and funny. He was running around the restaurant helping out making the dishes and running the register. 5 stars for service. Location is also really nice and clean. Just very disappointed with the food quality.

Chock full of chicken bites and delicious vegetables. Somehow the plentiful peanuts set my taste buds acraving. Wow wow Pao tasty. The only miss with this was that it was brought to us on a coldish serving plate. A common mistake. We didn't get to try this dish hot. We are now wanting our bill. Seems like long time wanting. To our dismay, our friendly server got herself enmeshed in an on again off again conversation with someone at another table shortly after we arrived. Then she disappeared for a while. We are tempted to guess the bill amount (turns out we guessed wrong by $1), leave cash on the table and walk out. Instead I get up and she appears at the register. Magic. We met the owner and head chef, Kanlaya, who was very friendly. I could see her passion for Lao cuisine and her desire for guests to enjoy it. FOOD We were pretty excited so ordered quite a few items to try -- we definitely had leftovers. Everything was DELISH. * Pandan Green Tea -- delicious! * SAI QUA (Lao sausage) -- made fresh. Meaty and herbaceous. It was grilled and charred. Yum! * THU LITH'S FAMOUS SAIKOO --My friend was waiting to try this, which was the main reason we chose Lao Garden. It was excellent. Under "Wraps," these are steamed tapioca balls filled with pork. The tapioca balls were fresh, soft, and chewy, while the pork filling was well-seasoned and balanced. It was served with lettuce, mint, and parsley. * MOK PA -- Steamed catfish with lemongrass, dill, onions, and wrapped in banana leaves. A favorite of mine! Light and aromatic. It was served with steamed veggie medley and jeow mak len (tomato dipping sauce with various spices). * EGGPLANT PRAWNS -- Seasoned and tasty. Eggplant and prawns cooked to perfection. Since it was lunch, there was a special for this entree. * FRIED CHICKEN WINGS w/ PAPAYA SALAD -- This was also a lunch special served with sticky rice. We were chatting with the owner, and she was kind enough to change it to Lao style, which is more pungent with the umami from fermented fish sauce. The wings were crispy, and the papaya salad was well-balanced and tasty. Discovering Lao Garden was a fantastic experience, and we truly enjoyed their delicious dishes. I can't wait to return and share this hidden gem with friends and family so they can enjoy it too.

S E R V I C E Friendly and earnest. We had to flag them down for things but understandable since we were the only ones in the patio. Not overly spicy, just well-balanced and delicious. The plate came with rice, broccoli, and a selection of traditional banchan, which rounded out the meal nicely. I also ordered a glass of Chardonnay and was pleasantly surprised by the generous pour. Bonus points for that! Between the tasty food, pleasant atmosphere, and friendly service, this is definitely a place I'll be returning to. Highly recommended.
