Attended: August 10, 2015 I needed a new battery. They looked at my car and explained what needed to be done. I was in and out of there in about an hour to hour and a half. I thought the turn around time was pretty good considering I was a walk-in. The men working there were also very nice and friendly. All-in-all, the experience was good. read more

Fantastically run family-owned shop in south Framingham. The owners are extremely easy to deal with and more than willing to put things into layman's terms for customers. They are willing to work with you on completing repairs at the lowest costs possible while also making you aware of the potential downstream issues with your vehicle. I called them with extremely worn rear brakes and they turned my vehicle around with brand new OEM equivalent parts (pads and rotors) in less than 24 hours! They've also been extremely efficient and helpful when servicing my spouse's vehicle in the past. read more

i had another great experience at tosti's and had to update my review. my side headlight was out and i just could not figure out how to change it on my own, so i grudgingly brought it in to tosti's. they fixed the light, and checked up on all the other ones...and charged me $3! THREE dollars? what kind of service can you get for that cheap? i'm guessing the light must have just been loose, but they could have easily ripped me off. the only thing that saddens me about tosti's is that they don't do inspections. if you're reading this, mr. tosti's guy, please don't recommend that *other* station down the street for inspections. they deserve their own review, but it upsets me that you would even associate yourselves with them- they are nothing but thieves! also, if you live in the area, you can usually find great coupons for services and free check-ups in the local mailers. read more

I stopped in on a whim to get my car inspected and it turned out it needed a ton of work. The guys here, particularly Jason, were great about getting me scheduled right away and back into a safe car. They were clear on cost and exactly what they were doing to my car and why it was necessary (it totally was). On top of quick and excellent car service, they offer excellent customer service. They offered to drive me back and forth to home since I had a little one with me but I had already made my arrangements. They ran up behind me to hold doors when I was pushing a stroller. Me and my wife have been going to Tosti's for close to 15 years and began back when his father ran it. It was great then and John has "raised the bar" further still. John is a true blue - bona fide fair and honest businessman who's top priority (and that of his phenomenal team) is to FIX YOUR CAR. Yes, he will be upfront not only about what is or isn't broken but also how necessary it is to fix something immediately. He will also consider and suggest options for you beyond what he might be able to provide even though they may not DIRECTLY benefit him. Recently he saved my wife close to $ 2,000 for a safety feature that needed to be fixed on her Honda Accord by remembering and looking up that a factory waranty for the problem had been extended and was covered by the local Honda dealer. She went over and got it fixed - no charge, and then I discovered that I needed to have the same problem taken care of. Most anyother service station would not have gone to such effort and "made a quick buck"instead. Everyone at Tosti's takes great pride and care in every customers needs and the work they do is exceptional. Tosti's is not just a great service station it is one of the best BUSINESSES - save none - you could find! Next to having a great Doctor or Lawyer I'd say having John for a mechanic is one of the top people you can know. Polite, communicative, and pleasant to deal with. That said, at the end of the day they took $75 and quoted me for another $800 to fix two O2 sensors and a check engine light that wasn't working. This should have been quoted around $400-500 at worst, and when I expressed my concern over the quote I was told that the sensors themselves cost almost $400 because they had to be OEM (false). So I bought the two O2 sensors myself from Autozone for $120 total and spent an afternoon replacing them myself. Tools needed? A regular old jack and a crescent wrench. I also fixed the check engine light, which took 20 minutes and a screwdriver. Again, they were nice and pleasant, but I wouldn't go there again, given how much they quoted me for an extremely simple fix. Not sure if this experience is a random exception to their good reputation, the mechanic on hand wasn't on his A-game, or because they saw the collared shirt I wore when I went in and mistook me for someone that grows money on trees. In any case, that was my experience. Judge it as you may. Edit: increased from 2 stars to 3 because 2 seems a bit harsh, even if the yelp scale of, "Meh, I've had better" is accurate. read more

Very good prices, very honest, won't fix what isn't broken, won't try to twist your arm into fixing things that don't need it. I moved to Massachusetts from out of state in 2009, and one of the things I missed the most was an honest & fairly priced mechanic who was reliable. The local AAA recommended Tosti's, and I haven't felt the need to look around since. I have brought them various vehicles, and they have never been unfair, from when they replaced brake lines on my old beater pickup to when they told me to throw in the towel on my Accord which needed more work than it was worth. Years ago, John was a customer of mine, and he was always so pleasant to deal with, I decided to start having him do work on my car. He is hands-down best mechanic I've ever had. They're always honest and informative and helpful in explaining options when they're available. I like that he offers loaner cars so that your day isn't totally disrupted by car repairs and maintenance. His son is also great too (obviously well trained by his dad and grandpa). I also really love the satisfaction of knowing I'm supporting not just a family business, but one that is actually NICE and spans 3 generations. These guys have never disappointed me. I brought my car in for the first inspection - a one year old car, 13K miles. They told me I needed a new lightbulb in my right front blinker for it to pass inspection. Ok, fine, go ahead. First of all, that bulb and installation cost $35. Ridiculous. If I weren't already there and already late on my inspection, I would have done it myself for $8. But the worst part? The bulb continued not to work because the guy who installed it broke the copper connections. No one else had touched that bulb - or ANYTHING on my car- , so it couldn't have been anyone else. When I confronted them with this the next week (after I had been pulled over for having that blinker out, thankfully the cop was nice about it since I showed him the receipt for just having it replaced), they told me that it was like that when I brought it into them originally. When I asked a) why they hadn't said that to me and just told me the bulb was out, and b) how it would have already been broken like that when no one else had ever gone near that light, the guy just turned and walked away into the garage! Not only did I end up paying $60 for the inspection and bulb, I had to pay another $300 to buy and replace the casing! I will NEVER go back, and have told many many people this story so they don't go, either. read more

The one thing I knew I would miss when I moved to Natick was a twenty year relationship with my mechanic in Jamaica Plain. The few experiences I had with local service stations did nothing to assuage my fears that service stations are just good places to get ripped off. It's not just the expense, it's the realization a day or a week later that the problem was not adequately dealt with. I've had a few such bad experiences and I was gun shy. But my car was overheating badly and I had to take action. I took it to Tosti's and was immediately impressed by the quality of customer service. John and Paul are great guys who care about their relationship with you. If you think about it, that is the key to repeat business. People who care about their relationships care about their reputation. This means they stand behind their work. I left Tosti's with my problem solved. No expensive repairs, just a new clamp on an old hose. No more overheating. Until a week later. My son was driving the car in Boston and the temp needle hit the red zone. The smell of coolant made it obvious that there was a new leak in the system, one that was spewing coolant rapidly. My son took it to my old mechanic who found that the hose had split at the point where it had been recently clamped. I ground my teeth and paid the new bill. I debated going back to Tosti's to complain until I realized that they would probably want to know what happened. I went back with the broken hose and showed it to John. I did not take his receipt with me, I just wanted to let him know what had happened. He explained to me that a broken hose was a rare but not unheard of occurence. Let me get to the point of this narrative. HE REIMBURSED ME FOR THE COST OF TAKING THE CAR TO THE OTHER MECHANIC. This was a jaw-droppinig, unexpected turn of events. Bolton St. A mean old man came out of the Gulf station and "would not" open my gas door since it is not automatic...He hemmed and stammered and walked away with his shaking hands...Refused outright to put gas in my car... Thank God I was going to Natick as I had another chance to go to Tosti's. The service was wonderful and as usual Mr Tosti is a gentle, kind person...I got my gas there and will NEVER go to Gulf Station on S. Bolton St again! This old man was as rude as I have ever seen... My car pulled into work (fifty miles from home!) with a failing electrical system. When I called their service center at 8:30AM I got someone who was incredibly helpful, even suggesting a tow company they do business with who was willing to roll the towing charges into the garage's bill for my convenience. It was literally a same-day repair on a battery and alternator, fixed VERY quickly without any fuss, and a lot less expensively than the last alternator I had to replace. Went here to get my oil changed and car inspected. Driving home from work (Boston), I hit some traffic and arrived a little later than my scheduled appointment. The service guys took my car right away. They close at 5 and I felt terrible that they had to finish my service after their closing time. They were super understanding and very pleasant to work with. I came in for an oil change and a state inspection. The staff were friendly and the service took a reasonable amount of time. When finished, Chris let me know I failed inspection due to an issue with my exhaust and brakes. He explained exactly what was wrong so I could fully understand. When I told him I had replaced the brakes and repaired the exhaust only the year before at another Boston-area mechanic (prior to moving to Framingham), Chris suggested I call that mechanic to see if they would warranty their parts and service. I was able to contact my former mechanic and go to them to remedy the issue with minimal costs. Tosti's proved they value integrity, honesty, and quality service. I've been to Tosti's twice and both times have been excellent experiences. The first time I needed a tire patched due to a small puncture, and they got me an appointment the next morning and I was in and out in thirty minutes. Today, I went to Tosti's again, this time for help replacing my license plate (the Ford dealership from which I purchased the car put the wrong plates on and it ended up being faster for me to fix the problem myself instead of wait for them to do it). The problem was that the screws holding the plates in place were of usual size that I didn't have the correct tool for. Even though I didn't have an appointment, they helped me quickly and even gave me different screws so that I could more easily take the plates on and off myself in the future. They didn't charge me anything for this, which was much appreciated. I'll definitely be coming back for any car repair needs. read more

I've only lived in Framingham for 6-months now, and randomly had my car towed from a breakdown in Cambridge, to Tosti's in Framingham, on the previous night. My auto repairs were completed by Tosti's by the mid-afternoon. They were honest and up front about the costs involved when i brought my car in for the first time a few years ago, and as money was tight at the time, they helped me figure out the best plan of action to make my car safe to drive. I really appreciate people who are willing to work with me to make things fit my my schedule, and my budget. They even have loaner cars an offer rides to nearby places for free. A few months ago, our Caliber was starting to make some noises in the front end. They took the time to diagnose, and to look up the pricing of the parts we needed. The whole front suspension was hosed! I did some looking online and found that lots of people were having this same problem with the 2007 Caliber's at the same mileage (right around 50k). I decided that i'd rather get out of that vehicle and get something else rather than fixing it (and waiting to see what else was going to break before 70k miles) I eneded up buying a truck, and i took it straight to Tosti's to get their assessment of the shape of the vehicle. They checked out EVERYTHING. They even noticed that there was a button on the dashboard that didn't seem to do anything. They spent about 20 minutes or possibly more looking at the new truck, and they wouldn't let me pay them for their time. I probably took up a solid hour of their time over the last couple months and they didn't get paid a dime for it. And they did it all with a smile. Incidentally, it's pretty common to be waiting in the waiting room, and the conversation turns to just how loyal each of the people in that room is, and how long they've been coming to Tosti's. People aren't that loyal for no reason at all. These guys earn it day in and day out. read more

I found them based on the positive reviews on Yelp and elsewhere, and because of my positive experience, I will go to them when I do need service.
