I really want to give Total Air and Appliances some recognition for being fast, efficient, and reasonably priced for their services. Several months ago I had a fridge issue where it stopped cooling. Denis came out and diagnosed the issue quickly and was able to get the unit repaired within a reasonable timeframe. I called him again just the other day and he came out to fix a washing machine. He was able to fix it in under an hour and even located the user guide for me that gave additional info on the cycles and even how to appropriately clean it (front load washer)! What a fabulous experience! I woke up early Sunday to a fridge that was hissing and water everywhere. I tried for hours to find someone to come help, I wish Total Air and Appliances had been my first call. When I called, I spoke with Dennis who assured me he could come out quickly. He gave me a timeframe from 1:30-3pm in which he'd be by, and he was right on time. He was able to stop the water leak and fixed the issue so it hopefully won't happen again. We called between 20-25 places today (Sunday afternoon) and Dennis was the only one willing to come and help us with our refrigerator. He was running late on his customer before us, but he kept us updated and was able to fix our refrigerator at the service visit. I used Total Air and Appliances to repair a Maytag washing machine that would fill up with water and automatically empty (without washing). Denis was able to accurately diagnosis the problem and then returned with the correct parts that were needed to repair everything. I can definitely recommend Denis - his pricing is very fair. He will diagnosis the problem. If you want him to fix it, he will apply the diagnosis fee to the repair. This is much different than everyone else I contacted on Craigslist. I have several rentals in town and have dealt with quite a few HVAC pros in the area over the last few years. On this particular occasion I had a mini-split AC system develop an issue. For those that don't know what this is, its a smaller AC system that doesn't use duct work like a central air system. No it's not a cheap window unit. These systems have been in use for quite some time in other countries around the world but only in the last few years have they started to become more popular in the U.S. For this reason, many technicians in the US won't work on these systems or as I was told by a friend does HVAC, "are afraid of these systems". This same friend took one look at my mini split and told me I was better off buying a new system because it would cost more to fix than to replace. This would have cost me bare minimum $1000.00 parts and labor to do, and that's at rock bottom prices. My system is only 3 years old! My man Dennis showed up and fixed and recharged my system for a fraction of this cost. Needless to say my friend is fired and Dennis is my new, "go to" guy from here on out. I had Denis come over because my washer was not draining. He unclogged the hose because my roommate's clothing got stuck in it. He fixed that problem, then proceeded to tell me that he would recommend I replace several other parts of the washer- not that these parts were impeding the flow of water from draining, but more of a maintenance thing. The parts he recommended were torsion springs, the belt, and belt pulley assembly. He put the washer back together and told me that it was running fine. I washed a few towels that very night, and noticed that the water drained, but now the spin cycle was not running hard enough (or at all,) to get all the water out of the towels. I thought that maybe it was a fluke, and ran a load of laundry a few days later. Same result, and I had to manually ring water out of my clothes. I called him to come back, thinking that he had not put something back right and that was why it was like that. He came back, and told me that the belt had fallen off. At the beginning of the first visit, he showed me the belt and it was on fine, but I did not get a chance to view it right before he closed up the washer. In the last 2.5 years of using this washer, it had never come off and all my clothes washed fine. He also showed me supposed chunks that had come off of the belt. He put the belt back on, and wa la! The spin cycle is back to normal. But, he expected me to pay another $39 for his visit. His argument was that it was a separate issue. But, how could it be a separate issue when he originally put it back improperly which is the reason why the spin cycle did not work? I washed stuff that night after his first visit and it didn't work when he told me everything was fine! He then proceeded to remind me about the parts he recommended me to fix. I feel like he did this intentionally, like he made it appear that the spin cycle would not work, so therefore it would push me to pay the $200 to replace parts, etc. I felt taken advantage of, especially since he asked for another $39 for the second visit. He could tell that I was pissed and said that he would charge me $30 instead if I wrote a yelp review. I think he was insinuating a GOOD yelp review, but being honest I gave him $40 and decided to write how I really feel. I just felt taken advantage of. It's a shame because I totally would have kept him in mind if I had any issues with other appliances, and I don't agree with the way he handles customer service. Edit: So I had someone else come over and take a look at my washer, and I had told this person that there were pieces of belt that Denis had shown me that had come off the belt. This new guy I'm having take a look at my washer took the current belt out and asked while holding up a new belt I had purchased on my own, "Which one's the new belt?" They were practically identical! He also asked, "Do you see any tears or places broken on this old belt?" and there were none. When I felt the pieces of "broken belt" they did not match the rubbery material of the belt; they were hard pieces of plastic, which was explained to me happens during the construction of the washer itself. I definitely got ripped off on the second service fee, and almost for $200.. read more

Excellent, knowledgeable and trust worthy! I had Dennis come out to double check my HVAC unit on my townhouse and he was able to figure out why my AC seemed to stop cooling at times. He was very nice and took the time to explain everything he looked at and found wrong. He even showed me the old parts and what was wrong with them. The repair was relatively inexpensive (compared to my concern that the whole unit may need to be replaced) and he showed me how old the unit was and that everything else looked good on it after the two smaller things he fixed. He even showed me a website to check to see if the previous owner had registered the unit and he would've done it as a warranty repair, but the previous owner never registered it. You can tell he is a straight shooter on fixing only what needs to be replaced, telling you and showing you what he did and explaining everything so I knew exactly what was going on. I'll be using him again as well as recommending to anyone else that needs HVAC or appliance repair! read more

Had to call for my refrigerator on a Sunday for repair, I googled Appliance repair and there were only a few that worked on a Sunday. Total Air was one of the few that did service calls on the weekends so I called and spoke with Denis he was very nice, asked what the issues were and had a wanted to help attitude. He came out in the later part of the day when he told me he would be there and also text me to tell me when he was on his way. He was very cordial and got right to the issue with my fridge. He explained in detail what was going on with it and what to expect. He was able to solve the issue and said he would come back later if we were still having problems with it. I had another service company come out 2 weeks prior but was NOT happy with their presense much less their quick to get the job done attitude nor their price for the repair. I was pretty impressed with denis the tech. When I first called he gave me a 1 1/2 hour window which was about 1 hr after call. He was there. He quickly diagnosed problem which was the defrost element. He defrosted the unit so my food stayed safe. He explained problem so I felt comfortable. He gave me a total cost which I felt was fair. I found Total Air by reading reviews on them after my washing machine died. When I called Dennis said he would be out the next morning and would call first. I waited until 30 minutes after his final time to come here, then I called him. I was angry; however he told me his phone had died the night before and my info was on it. Ok, it can happen and he was willing to adjust the price down because of this. At this point at least 3 times I had asked him if he took credit cards and he said yes, although there was a discount by paying cash. Once he was at my house and had started working on my washer, he then informed me that he wanted cash. I was furious because I don't keep that kind of cash around and I wouldn't have used him had I known-I really needed to put it on a card, which he would not do it. I did finally tell him I would give him a check and he then proceeded to charge me the credit card cost. I argued and we agreed at a half-way point. He did fix the machine; however a couple weeks later the identical thing happened. By the time he came out 4 days later, it was somehow working again. He did not look at anything and said we'll wait. Just a short time after that, the same thing happened. He picked the day and time that he would come out and look-and he never called or came out. When I called him, he really had no answer, just that he could have been a better communicator. He asked me what he could do to make my feelings better towards him. I pretty much told him nothing at this point would change them, and he then said he would return my money I had paid him within 72 hours. I told him if he did I would not put bad reviews out on him.
