It may have been larger, but they had so many machines that were in disrepair that you can't even count those. - Convenient hours. What's more convenient than 24/7, even on holidays? - Quality of equipment. On one hand, its very satisfying working out with a simple barbell or dumbbell, and this gym has plenty of those. I believe they have three different sets of dumbbells and more barbells than I've seen in larger, commercial gyms. On the other hand, this place also has unique equipment that I've not seen elsewhere if you're looking for a bigger variety of a workout. The only downside is the cost -- its definitely more expensive than commercial gyms, but I honestly believe you get what you paid for here. The convenience of hours, the quality of equipment, and the helpfulness and friendliness of the people make it well worth it.

Despite getting new equipment several weeks ago, which is much appreciated, the facility continues to be filthy--especially the bathrooms. The same pieces of garbage remain on the bathroom floors for several days at a time, and the sinks and toilets are rarely cleaned--using the bathroom is a very unpleasant experience. The paper towel dispensers are frequently empty, and aren't checked for hours at a time, never mind filled. The staff rarely leaves the front desk. I use other Planet Fitness facilities as well, and none are as filthy and nasty as this one. The manager at Centereach had said many times that she will act to change things, but it continues to get worse.

I found the gym dirty as I watched the cleaning attendant walk by scattered water bottles on the floor. I found a lack of ab machines and limited machines that are standard in other gyms like upright curling stands , ab machines, bench machines. For the size of the gym the equipment is very limited. Lastly, I have never seen a barbell rack in such dissarray in my 41 ys attending gyms. The weights are non existamt at best. After inquiring with members I was told this is normal. I just couldnt find two dumbells that matched if at all. LAFITNESS you need to do better. Ive been a member for 13 yrs at various sites. This is the worst.

The front desk staff was friendly and introduced me to a membership director. I wasn't looking for a long term membership as I live far away, but was willing to pay a guest fee. He mentioned a three day free pass they offer to try out the gym and it worked out great. Now, that's customer service. Over the three days I found the gym to be clean, well maintained, tons of equipment and weights to use, and a varied crowd size depending on the time I was there. Never seemed overcrowded to me and the members were considerate. This is the type of gym you join to really train and not just goof around. Plus, they offer merchandise and training accessories, protein and energy drinks, etc. Plenty of classes to join for cardio needs. Decent hours daily and on weekends. From beginners to seasoned bodybuilders this is a great facility to get in your fitness goals.

My wife went in this weekend with the intention to join the gym. It took forever for her to get…read moresomeone to speak with her, and then they gave her attitude when she asked for a tour. She finally got pricing and said she would go over it with her husband (me, since we were considering joining together) and come back tomorrow. When she went back the next day, she was told to wait for someone to meet with her. After waiting for an obscene amount of time, she asked to speak with a manager. The receptionist told her that nobody was available. She left her name and number for a MANAGER to call her back. Someone called her back an hour or so later - it was not a manager. By this time she could not return to the club to sign up and asked if they would honor the holiday weekend pricing if she came in the next day. She was told no but she could sign up over the phone. My wife informed them that she could not read the contract over the phone. They basically said "too bad." Bottom line, she did not join. The customer service there is awful. Had my wife been treated with some respect she would have signed up. It's a shame because the price was decent and the amenities (including a pool) seem to be pretty good, though reading some of the other reviews, I'm beginning to think this was a blessing in disguise.
