Two stars because staff was polite but not helpful. Imaging Center part of NOW part UCI Medical Take over of Los Alamitos Hospital. Been getting mammograms and x rays here for years. NEW UCI trained staff handed me a 40 pages legal documen after merger... my job is reading contacts and I did not have time except to scan...one sided. Needed simple "pre op chest xray; . Tried to make appointment by phone. Told only walk ins for x-rays..from 8 am-5 PM M-F. Showed up 8/3/26, early. As existing patient all records already on file. Handed prescription; receptionist asked supervisor if "pre op" was sufficient to submit to MediCare for billing; I was told diagnosis was not sufficient to permit x-ray. Told I had to get Doctor to revise prescription. NO OFFER TO CONTACT DR OFFICE and have revised prescription faxed over...Asked for private pay option to avoid having to delay scheduled surgery; NO.. Asked for referral to another x-ray clinic ... NO. UCI trained staff is less than helpful. Appears that unless they can guarantee billing of insurance, you should not waste you time at this facility. read more

I've had numerous scans here done here- X-rays, ultrasound. They are a small building in the Los Al Medical center complex. Parking is in the big structure and you pay upon exiting outside at the end of the medical complex. Reasonable. Usually they send me a text ahead of my appt to get checked in which saves time. This time I was required to get registered there at the time of my appt, but Irma made it so easy and quick walking me through everything at her little kiosk. All done via iPad and she made sure to send me the link by text to update my MyChart to save the info and get my test results. I had a lovely student begin my ultrasound scan and her boss followed up and completed it. Everyone I have interacted with here is efficient, courteous and friendly. At times they are crowded but usually not; I have never waited a long time to be seen. Restrooms are available right off one of the waiting rooms and inside the testing area. I've gone to them for the last 4 years with no problems. This year I called for my annual mammo and the man who answered was incredibly rude. When I voiced concerns that I've been hearing about a communication breakdown between them (now under the UCI umbrella) and doctors, I was told to focus on myself. Yet, I couldn't easily get an appointment because they couldn't find communication from my doctor. This has never happened before. I've never been treated so rudely by their staff. As a female trying to make an appointment to get my breasts squeezed for cancer detection, I don't need a man telling me to focus on myself and speaking to me in a condescending manner. read more

I will start by saying the tech's are spot on and very efficient. The place is well kept and appears to be clean and the waiting room charis are comfortable. The chairs need to be comfortable as you will wait a long tim to get your service done. Management of course is too busy doing their own work to manage, or notice just how rude the desk is to their patient's. It is obvious that they are under staffed and over worked. I will not return for any future services, paying to park was the last straw. I do like "Wave Imaging" they were not as fancy looking but got the job done quickly without all the steps. read more

I had a CT scan scheduled here today for 8:00am. I got to my appt 20 min early as per the email I received instructed, checked in at one desk who took my ID & insurance card & then gave me a "beeper" to be called to another desk. The wait wasn't long- maybe 10 min before I was beeped to window 2. The woman who helped me was very friendly, went through and asked me a few questions ( I did mention I had already answered those questions on their online preregistration but she said the "system wasn't a good one" ). This second check in process took a bit longer, mostly because the computer was quite slow and she apologized several times, but overall it wasn't exacting. Once checked in, I went to the 3rd desk and handed her the paperwork I was given from checkin #2 and sat down to wait to be called. I think I may have waited 5 min and was called back. The tech who escorted me to the imaging room was very friendly & efficient. She explained what would happen once we got in the room and the whole scan took maybe 5 min and she walked me back out front. I was very satisfied with how quickly the whole thing went and mostly by the pleasant and courteous staff members. Anytime a person is experiencing issues that require health care of any type, it is always so important to feel supported and treated kindly. I had been worried about long wait times, based on other reviews which is why I took an early appt. With the triple check in and the slow computers, I can see how things could get more and more backed up as the day goes on. I'm not sure if the imaging center is part of the purchase of Los Alamitos Hospital by UCI Health, and if so, hopefully they will be updating the computer system so it can run more quickly and efficiently ( especially silly to spend 20 min doing a pre-registration online when the imaging center doesn't have access to that info). These last comments are suggestions for the IT department and not to take away from the superb treatment & care I recieved today. read more

I was a walk-in at my doctors suggestion. I'm not sure if this is normal or not, but everyone was very accommodating. They checked with X-ray technicians to be sure they could see me and were given go ahead for me to proceed. Office staff was efficient in processing my paperwork. Fast and efficient because they move you like an assembly line. Billing wise, inefficient and terrible! They collected a deductible from me even if I was covered at 100% by my insurance. I paid for the deductible because i needed the service. When I received notice from my insurance that they paid Total Care 100%, I called Total Care. They told me I got over charged and a refund would be coming. I waited 3 weeks to follow up on my refund, when I did, they said it would take another 6 weeks for the refund. Quick and got the job done ... I'm a little claustrophobic so both tech & assistant stayed in the room & talked - hearing their voices even though I couldn't make them out made me feel comfortable. First of all when I called to make an appointment, the scheduler was rude. Then we get to the office, they said to be here an hour before the appointment. Update: it's been more than 14 days since my visit and my provider has yet to receive my ultrasound results on top of all the inefficiencies and delays on the day of my scan. They haven't returned my call from over a week ago asking for a timeline for the delivery of my scan to my doctor. 5 stars for the ultrasound tech. -100 stars for the inefficient check-in and wait. The staff was nice, but the check-in process was the most inefficient I've ever seen and need a complete overhaul. I came in for what was supposed to be the first appointment of the day (8:30 am). When I arrived, I waited in a long line to check in. When I finally got to the front of the line. The receptionist asked for my order, which was odd because Total Care called my cellphone and told me they had an order to book an ultrasound for me--I had never even seen the order. The receptionist was finally able find it on file and I was given a pager. After about 30 minutes of waiting, my pager buzzed and I was sent to a window to fill out advance directive paperwork, etc. (there has to be a way to remove this step, I was getting an ultrasound where the risk of death is pretty much 0....). Then I was directed to a third check-in desk to let them know I finished the first two steps. Then I waited, waited, waited and waited some more. I approached the person at the 3rd check-in to see what the deal was because it was getting close to the point where I would need to reschedule due to upcoming work obligations and I came on a full bladder, as instructed. She rummaged through her files and said oh it looks like they've been ready for you, then she sent me back. I finally got to the ultrasound room and the tech had been patiently waiting for me for over an hour while I was processed through the front desk circus. I feel like the entire check-in was the equivalent of 1+ hour meeting that could have been an email. What a disaster! I won't be back unless I have no other options within 100 miles. read more

I have no patience for aloofness, and that is the demeanor of the staff here. Not to mention just strange administrative practices...You "check in" three separate times, at three separate desks, with three different people, filling out a little bit of paperwork as you go to send you to the next receptionist. This was not limited to my experience it was standard practice. There was a whole debacle with appointment times as well that I won't bother getting into, but sufficed to say if you have any other imaging options go out of your way to avoid this place. Avoid this place. Front office staff is rude and condescending. 1) I asked if they accepted my insurance as in network, she said ask another department, I have no clue. In the very next sentence she said we accept your insurance in network and we have contracts with them. Odd. 2) I asked how long it would take to get my images. She said at least 1 hour. I said I need to go see my doctor to check on something in the next building. She rudely said "sir IF we call you, you'll miss your opportunity". You just told me it would at least 60 minutes I'll be gone for 2 minutes! I've watched the entire waiting room clear with no call. Are they fast? No. See the photo and judge for yourself... They aren't checking in anyone with people waiting! The radiologist was very friendly. She informed me they were short staffed that day and apologized. Came here for a procedure. The people working here were nice and not super rude like at other imaging locations. After you check in, they hand you a buzzer (like a restaurant buzzer) and then you wait. When the buzzer goes off, it is your turn and they tell you to go into a certain room. The problem I had with them was that they assume you've been there before and you know exactly what room/what location to go to after your buzzer goes off. I had never been here before and had no idea where to go. Other than that confusion, they were fine. The parking is confusing if you've never been here - you turn into the facility and it is a large parking garage with paid parking. read more

To this facility. It was a great experience. The staff was super helpful and efficient. The location was clean and inviting.

Came here with my elderly mom (82 years old), who needs assistance walking. She had an appointment for bone density screening. First, We both arrived with legit medical N95 masks on and the security at the door refused to let us in unless we put on the thin, paper procedure mask. I told him N95 offers more protection, especially for my elderly mom and he said, "we don't like N95 masks here, just these masks in the box" while pointing to the thin disposable masks. Second, the security guard initially refused to let me in saying only patients were allowed. I told him I understand they are taking precautions for COVID, but my mom needs assistance walking and writing. It took me a few minutes of convincing before he let me enter with my mom. Never mind the fact that he saw me walking up while assisting her. Since my mom's appointment was minutes away, I didn't feel like educating the security guard and we just put on the paper masks to enter. Total Care needs to train their staff (third party contractors, i.e. security included) about which types of masks offer the most protection. And it's pretty much common sense (common sense isn't so common) that if you see an old lady that requires help walking, the person that is helping her needs to assist her inside the building too. read more

3/12/2021 is the 3 rd time I have been to Total Care Imaging for my routine mammograms. Each time it has been a truly wonderful experience. The front desk staff have always been friendly and professional. The changing area is always clean and welcoming. Everything seemed to go well with the staff for my wife's appointment up until the time the x-ray technician called my wife back to take her x-ray. I needed to use the restroom as I accompanied my wife over to the entrance after the x-ray tech called her name. Before I got a chance to say anything she said you can't come back here. I then said I needed to use the restroom, and she hesitated for a second and then said follow me to myself and wife. She said you could use the restroom and wait for your wife just outside of the x-ray room which was next to the restroom. I thought that was odd, because she said I couldn't come back at first at all, but I didn't think too much of it. After my wife completed her x-rays she told me that the woman was rude to her. My wife went on to say that the x-ray tech told her to bend over and touch your toes. My wife walks with a cane because the area in question to x-ray makes it difficult to bend over to perform this kind of activity in the position she was asked. My wife said I can't do that, but the x-ray tech then said forcefully, the doctor ordered that you have to touch your toes, in a manner that was disrespectful making my wife feel like she didn't belong there. My wife said it wasn't the fact of trying to do what she asked it's how she said it. Maybe if the tech said (try your best to touch your toes) would have shown some empathy towards my wife and not make her feel she didn't belong there. Unfortunately, this is second time my wife has had a bad experience with total care. The only reason she went there is her doctor ordered it, but this will most likely be the last time. read more

Kind Imaging technician, However, Total Care imaging is totally unprepared to handle special needs patients who are not independent in the dressing room as well as using expressive and receptive language. Each time I've taken my wife with alzheimers to Total Care Imaging, I explained this to the receptionist, the person who handles the paper signing and the person who instructs us when it is time for my wife's imaging. Each time they refused to let me assist my wife, yet they are unprepared with a female person to assist her. I stated this problem to them in the survey they sent to me and I asked them to call me, but Total Care Imaging did not respond. Total Care Imaging has been disconnected to my wife's special needs each time we've been there. Next time I will ask my doctor to send me elsewhere for imaging for my wife. read more

So far my experience with this place has been poor. We are trying to get my 86 year old mom to have a PET scan done as soon as possible. Yes she is a cancer patient who is running out of time. Last week they called last minute to cancel her PET scan because their machine was broke down. We rescheduled for this week, tomorrow. Guess what they cancelled again last minute with the same problem machine was down. We rescheduled for next week but no one there could confirm that it will be fixed by then. What a terrible place this is! My mom's health is being jeopardized because they can fix the only machine they have? Are you kidding me? Who runs this asylum? read more

First impression walking in, I thought total care was a good looking facility to fulfill my medical needs.. I was completely wrong.. was told the process to get x-rays done, shouldn't take more than a hour and a half.. nope they were wrong.. waited a hour and about thirty minutes to get through the registration process.. I heard my number get called and I thought I was next... nope, little did I know they have a second waiting room were I waited a outrageous amount of time to finally get seen to get my xrays.. Honestly I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy... next time I am going to ask my primary doctor recommend another location.... It's a lovely facility and the technicians that performed the tests were great. BUT CHECK YOUR INSURANCE!!!!! I've just been notified that my insurance is not covering my screenings (which should be free of charge) because this location is "out of network". Don't you think that the staff should have said something when they were checking me in?? Nope, they didn't say a word -- just "sign this form, sign that form" and NOTHING about the fact that they are not contracted with my insurance provider. SHAME ON YOU!! read more
