Catoctin Vet is one of the most expensive (they are ALL pricey in Loudoun) vet practices. It stands…read moreout, so I have to mention it first. Staff is friendly enough when I call in but it's a standard gatekeeping practice; come spend a minimum of $98 to receive any information at all. I rarely get any form of quotes or feedback on inquiries. Vets: Dr. Robbins - bright and friendly but I'm usually left with feeling like I got no security in information about my pet. Perhaps feels brushed off. Dr. Surman - My experience is that she cares a good deal about your pet but I feel heavily judged if I don't lean into every expensive suggestion towards the "wellbeing" of my pet. Aka, every test, every preventative, every measure to assess without question (even if no concern is present). I do believe this is meant well without being money grabbing but regardless, it's uncomfortable. Dr. Trinidad is insightful, attentive but also sharp; probably my preferred for this office overall because the information shared is direct, to the point and layman's enough for average pet parents. I have to maintain 2 stars overall though because it's very expensive, I leave feeling like I haven't come to the practice for 6 years. My pets are not remembered.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR THE EXCEPTIONAL CARE OVER THE YEARS…read more I cannot thank Dr. Jessica Surman, Dr. Christy Trinidad, and the entire team at Catoctin Veterinary Clinic enough. I said goodbye to my beloved Beau yesterday, and the grace and love they showed us during such a difficult time was beyond measure. They didn't just provide medical care; they provided genuine emotional support when I needed it most. I am forever grateful for the kindness they showed my boy throughout his life.

My experience with one of the veterinarians here was poor in treating my dog. She rushed through…read morecomplex test results, giving lengthy technical explanations without prioritizing key findings or ensuring I understood them, and offered no collaborative discussion to support decision-making. When I asked to see another veterinarian in the practice, I was refused, which destroyed my trust in the hospital. She ordered multiple tests without a clear working diagnosis, prescribed doxycycline without advising me to stop Rimadyl, and prescribed prednisone without disclosing significant potential side effects--resulting in negative health impacts for my dog. I later sought a second opinion at another practice. That veterinarian reviewed the same results, ruled out several conditions, and identified likely liver cancer--recommending only one additional diagnostic (CT scan of the abdomen) to confirm. In a single 30-minute discussion, that vet addressed all my concerns, answered every question with reference to the test results, and provided the information I needed to make an informed care decision. My dog is now off the unnecessary medications, comfortable, and on a focused care plan.

By a strange and unfortunate coincidence, two of my dogs developed serious and very different eye…read moreproblems. Both dogs required eye surgery. We were extremely lucky to have Dr. Laura Mancuso examine both dogs within a few days of each other. One dog was a 16 pound 15-year-old dachshund and the other an 80-pound one year old Rottweiler. Very different sizes and temperaments. It was amazing to see her in action with each dog and to watch her thorough and efficient process of diagnosing their issues. The different surgeries that she performed on each dog were overwhelmingly successful and both dogs have fully recovered. When all was over, we realized that that she was not only superb in diagnosing and treating our dogs, but also in managing the anxiety and stress of their owners. Cannot recommend her more highly. Hopefully, your pets might never need her services, but if you do, you cannot do better.

Dr.Samuel saw our lab for a large eyelid mass removal. He's 12 and has LarPar, so I was terrified…read moresomething would go wrong. Dr. Samuel came out to talk to us in person (everyone outside with masks) and explained the process and the removal procedure. Because our dog gets anxiety in a cage, and he has LarPar so he can't cool efficiently, they asked us if we wanted our dog to wait in the car with us until his procedure time so he would be more comfortable and safe. Amazing! What vet does that?! They really put your pet's well-being at the forefront at Ocean. Kathleen, our vet tech for his procedure, came out to talk to us numerous times and she was so very caring concerning my baby and calming to a nervous mommy. She even personally sat with my baby as he came out of anesthesia to be sure he had no LarPar breathing issues. His surgery went so well that I think Dr. Samuel should add Plastic Surgeon to her title! She had to remove a large chunk of eyelid, but you can't even tell he had surgery three weeks after (minus some fur still growing in) bc it looks just like it did before! I highly recommend this practice and Dr. Samuel.
