Excellent throughout the process and great results! We had lived with hardwood floors many years but this was the first time we actually purchased any. If you haven't done this before, it's a bit of work, but Total Floors helped us through ALL of the steps. For those with short attention span (TL;DR), bottom-line, these people know their stuff and will help you make your purchase easy and looking good (feeling good, too!) Flooring is a major project, so hiccups will arise, but there was nothing that came up that we weren't able to mutually work out to our satisfaction. Check out the photos! For those who like details, read on. We had a room with carpet that we were ready to put hardwood in, seeing the rest of the house was hardwood. Total Floord responded quickly, much much faster than other companies we contacted. Though the estimate visit was delayed until the afternoon (again, hiccups will happen, but it was handled same day), Mr. Hamid assessed our situation: Our subfloor was two different types, as half of the room had been a garage (slab with plywood overlay for the carpet job), whereas the other side was tile with foam subfloor. Naturally the floors weren't quite level... While this limited our choices (can't float it at all and can't nail in half, and probably why the room was carpet...), Mr. Hamid kindly explained that they can handle it. A couple of days later, we received an email with their recommended flooring type, color and estimate. The recommendation was dead-on -- Somerset SolidPlus, a durable engineered wood with a thick top layer that would allow two (maybe, three?) sand-and-refinishings. Pricey versus the options at big-box retailers, but the reviews of this product were top notch, and the flooring looks GOOD! Purchase time comes, and we speak with Elsa. She asked if we had actually seen the sample of the Somerset floors. We had not, as we relied on the Somerset website's images (I know, I know...). So we went to their store to see the display and we are SO happy she recommended it! She commented that she doesn't order floors if the customer hasn't actually seen the sample. Seriously, how many other places would have let OUR misstep go by without a word? The color was just lighter what we wanted, so we researched and found the color we wanted the same day. Total Floors didn't have a sample of that color in their display, but we hunted around and found it. Elsa checked with her supplier, and - like magic - it arrived within a couple of business days! The wood was left for a few days to acclimate. In the meantime, the installer looked at the situation and planned a course of action to deal with the leveling issue. While there seemed to be a little miscommunication going on regarding the approach on that (I'd take half a star off for this, but Yelp...), we had to trust their (particularly Mr. Hamid's) experience. All's well that ends well, though. The installation was done in one day (about 7-8 hours) and came out awesome! read more

I am a landlord owning condos in Washington DC. The condo management has specific requirements for carpeting over 80% of the living area and using high density padding underneath for noise control. Since I live out of town, I needed a company who could get the job done without a lot of hassle, and provide quality service at a competitive price. So I researched companies carefully. I chose Total Floors because they totally understood my needs and delivered with great customer service. That was back in 2013. And again in 2017 when I needed to re-carpet two other condos in the same complex! As a landlord, I work with tight deadlines--replacing carpet during tenant turnovers. They were both extremely attentive to my various requests, and provided excellent guidance on selecting the particular carpet to be installed--recommending one with a lifetime stain warranty including for pet urine stains. I also appreciate that they offer American-made carpeting. We consulted with a number of companies. They all pretty much gave the same recommendation as far as type of floors to install (floating vs glued-down, etc), but Total Floors was by far the most professional and polished. It started with Bob's visit for the consultation. He was very knowledgeable, giving us detailed explanations for his recommendations. The estimate we got was on the low end of what others were charging, and since we were unsure of whether or not we were going to do the hallway in addition to the living room, Bob provided estimates for both options. Total Floors was also the only company that provided a precise breakdown of their figures (cost of the wood, installation material, labor, removal of previous surface etc). All others just gave a grand total. The company that provided the most expensive estimate was actually unable to tell us how they arrived at their total when we followed-up with them. The crew of two arrived on time, completed the installation in a day, and left everything spic and span. We are very happy with their work, and would certainly use them again for any flooring needs. My experience with Total Floors was OUTSTANDING. They were always patient, professional and very helpful. They came by my house to assist me with additional questions and to show me additional options. My husband walked around in awe at how beautiful the hardwood floors are and how they seamlessly flowed with our existing floors (we previously had carpet and hardwood floor combination). They also removed carpet and furniture in our basement and installed beautiful vinyl squares with grout (the floors look like ceramic tile). They also did a wonderful job removing carpet from our basement steps and installing hardwood. They sent 2 teams of installers and they were both the epitome of professionalism. The grout we selected was not the best match and it was brought to my attention. Our son purchased a town home in Alexandria two years ago. Since then, his dad and I gifted him flooring for the lower level. Total Floors was one of the contractors that provided a bid for vinyl plank. They were terrific from start to finish of the process: finalizing the material selection, accommodating on the install date, one-day professional install! Our son was so pleased with the result, that he recently hired them himself to install wood laminate in his upstairs (bedrooms/hall). The team delivered again, with particular flexibility in scheduling. In one day, they ripped out old carpet, cleaned, secured the subfloor and installed the wood laminate with molding! Mr. Hamid, the owner, stopped over to make sure the project was progressing well. The next Total Floors project will be runners for the double staircases. Top notch service from beginning to end. It all started with Brandy, she was able to provide costs for materials and information over the phone and computer also sent me links of manufactures that they deal with to look at available products. Then Bob came out to measure (he was early too) :) which was great! He was extremely knowledgeable about different materials and the whole process (which made me feel extremely comfortable). Once we chose a material and install date Brandy kept me up to speed multiple times throughout the day of what was happening at my house (since I could not be there during the install). Customer Service was excellent, installation was on an expert level a extreme attention to detail. A really down to earth company that I will keep in my arsenal should I or a family or friend need more work done. I can't say one bad thing about this company. read more

Excellent work and outstanding results. This was the first time I have had floors refinished and we slightly worried about how everything would workout. As with any business deal, I got a number of quotes (visited 7 stores and 4 official quotes). Many of the prices came in around a similar range but we really liked Azad and his accessibility. Unlike a big box store, you could always the decision maker, when you needed him! He never tried to sell us into anything we did not need, he even saved us money on carpeting (by offering a less expensive version of what we liked in a different brand - we bought carpet from Total Floors after the flooring was done). I recently hired Total Floors to redo the wood flooring in my parent's house prior to putting it on the market. My parent's had lived in the house for 25+ years and the floors that weren't cover by rugs were in very bad shape. From the moment I started working with the company to get an estimate, then to working with Elio and right up to the last crew member walking out the door, it's been nothing but a wonderful experience. Total Floors had a wide selection of samples on site at decent prices. I decided to go with them to replace flooring in three rooms with engineered hardwood and they did a great job. Everyone I interacted with - Elsa at the store, Elio who did the measurements and was my main point of contact, Efran the installer - was professional, polite, and invested in the work. Efran powered through and completed the job in one day. He had a good attitude and did a great job. Some additional parts were needed to reinstall a toilet that got moved, and another installer Fabio came the very next day to finish the job, which I appreciated. This flooring company stands out from the rest. I have lived in my home for 34 years and have used several different carpet companies. TF is attentive but not assertive. This was the first company to offer to order larger samples of the carpets I liked at no charge! The installers were careful, courteous and they cleaned up everything. We recently had the hardwood on our first floor redone after 18 years in the home. We had a lighter color stain and wanted to make it a shade or two darker and change the sealant from a gloss to a satin finish. Great work. I've used them twice to install carpet in different areas of my house. The second time they had an issue with a vehicle. They came out on a Holiday the next day to install the carpet and gave me a further discount, on top of the one for being a repeat customer.
