This is such an awesome place to go and get a full body workout! Every class is slightly different and you get out what you put in. I've been a member for about two months and have lost 8 lbs! Hard work pays off and I'm happy this is the place I've chosen to put in the work! Josh and Tyler are the owners and also rotate on leading class. They are personable, encouraging and best of all keep TFK a no judgement zone! They will show you how to wrap your hands, how to punch and make you feel comfortable with the bag. First class is free and there are so many class times to chose from. I bring my son on Saturdays and he loves it (he is 7) and I love that it's a family friendly place! What to bring? You will not be wearing shoes during class however you can wear socks if you'd like. Make sure you wear comfortable workout clothing and bring water. There is a spacious restroom so you can change there as well if you're coming from work.

The best place to work out at! It's so fun! Also the beat part is that they are friendly and the owner knows everyone's name!

I instantly felt welcomed. My friend I went with raved about the instructor, Anthony Young, and he was fantastic! I told him about a foot injury I had and he continuously came to check on me throughout the class to make sure I wasn't overextending myself while also helping me with modifications. The workout was high energy but not extremely difficult which allowed me to focus on my form and go at my own pace without feeling overwhelmed. Anthony walked around the class, adjusting forms and having one on one mitt time with multiple students. It had been a while since I last boxed so I was a little nervous to get back into it, but Anthony's kind and welcoming demeanor made me instantly feel at ease. The facility is well kept and clean, and there's lots of parking out front. Next time I'm in Dallas, I'll definitely be going back to take Anthony's class!

I have always had an interest in Jiu Jitsu, but felt intimidated getting started. Although I played sports, I had no martial arts experience prior to starting. After the birth of my son and maintaining a stressful job, I knew I needed a outlet for stress. I finally decided to give it a try. Professor Andre, Camila, Patricia, and Gary all were so welcoming from the moment that I first walked into the gym. I tried one other gym before Carlson Gracie and it was night and day the difference in atmosphere. You can tell that everyone at CG is passionate about BJJ and the positive impact it can have on your life. One aspect of the gym I really want to emphasize and was unexpected was the social element. I can truly say that I feel like I have bonded with many of the other members and have made many friends through jiu jitsu. The culture is very encouraging and fun and it is not uncommon for people to stick around after class to talk and have a good laugh together. Before starting, (based on stories I read online about BJJ in general) I was concerned about more advanced students engaging in intimidation or hazing practices. I am happy to say at CG the complete opposite is true. The more advanced students have clearly had good training and go out of their way to make people feel welcomed and to teach to your ability. Professor Andre, Patricia, and Gary are all actively competing which means they are at the top of their game. Professor Andre was been ranked in the top three nationally for his weight class (something I didn't know until I got started). Despite this, they treat everyone who walks in with dignity, respect, and care. The coaches are very attentive, focused, and dedicated to helping you be the best you can be no matter your size or athletic ability. During warm ups, drilling, and rolling they are enthusiastic, excited, and incredibly perceptive concerning giving precise feedback that can help you improve. You can tell considerable thought goes into maintaining a culture that mixes fun and competitiveness which really makes you want to keep getting better. In addition to the culture, training, and atmosphere being top notch, this is also a great option for getting into shape. Over the course of four months I lost about 30 pounds from going to train consistently. I can honestly say at age 37 I am likely in the best shape of my life in terms of cardio and flexibility. This is not something I thought I would ever say as I was nearing 40. Concerning the facilities, the gym is very clean and you can tell great care goes into maintaining a professional and sanitary atmosphere. I have never been concerned about cleanliness and compared to others gyms I have visited while out of town, this was by far the most well maintained. Personally, I find this element to be important as it adds a level of comfort to the setting. Professor Andre makes a point to say that the gym is a family and thats what it feels like. The training is great and it really makes you appreciate the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I look forward to going to the gym everyday. I cannot recommend Carlson Gracie of Carrollton enough!

This place has been open for a while and has been producing champions and professional grade martial artists. My guess is that many more champions will be born here over the years and that this place will receive more and more recognition globally as an MMA institution that produces the best out there! As a parents with two of my kids enrolled here and is at the gym mostly every practice for their competition team, my experience has been the opposite. The jiu-jitsu instruction for the youth competition team is exceptional. The lead instructor for the competition team is a phenomenal educator who knows how to connect with kids - something that isn't guaranteed in most coaches. The coaches go out of the way to ensure students feel supported and challenged in a structured environment. The competition kids are well prepared and the team as a whole performs well at various competitions they attend (even out of state comps). To suggest that the training is stagnant is simply inaccurate - the growth we've see in the youth competition team every month, every year is proof in our eyes of a high-level, evolving curriculum. Most importantly, their program doesn't just produce "winners", but well-rounded kids who respect the sport and respect each other. It's disappointing to see a gym that puts so much heart and effort into its students be described as anything less than professional. Come see the beginner classes for yourself.

We trained at Warriors for about three years, staying primarily because of the kickboxing program…read more During that time, the jiu-jitsu instruction was led by a young trainer who did not hold a black belt, which we believe should be the foundation of any serious jiu-jitsu gym. Classes were also often very small, and had limited individual attention and coaching often helpers were kids also. Our son started at a young age and progressed quickly, including competing successfully on his own when the gym did not yet have a youth competition team. When a competition team was later introduced, there was limited structure and coaching support at tournaments despite additional fees. This is a contact sport and injuries do happen, but we felt our son was sometimes singled out rather than supported, and favoritism appeared at times. Without consistent high-level coaching and strong competition, youth athletes can stagnate rather than continue to grow. We made good friends at Warriors and appreciate parts of the experience. With time and more seasoned instructors, Warriors could become a strong place for kids to train. For now, we chose to move on to a gym that better aligned with our goals. I recommend trying the free classes and comparing with other gyms before deciding. Warriors will continue to lose kids to other gyms with a more robust training program which it already has.

They are the best in their field and keep in mind your limitations (injuries) and help strengthen and condition you. The classes are awesome! It keeps you on your toes and forces you to challenge yourself. The place in general needs improvement. The toilets don't always flush properly and there is not enough gym equipment to go around. The place is not big enough to hold exercise equipment for certain workouts. Again, the trainers are phenomenal, which means big classes; which can get crowded. So, if you're working with a personal trainer and there are others training on their own using the exercise equipment when there's not enough to go around, our trainers must get creative while we wait until the equipment we need becomes available. This takes time from the training slot. Unfortunately, I had to stop going do to I have to budget myself a bit more in order to manage my finances better. It is a place worth going to when you know you can manage it in your budget. ------------------------------------------- This part is for all fitness centers that have a contract and hopefully someone can improve and change this part of the business. What I don't like is, when the contract is expired they continue to take money from you. They should be able to implement an alert to stop charging customers after the contract ends or have them send an email alert 2 months prior to inquire if they want to renew the contract. It's 2019, why haven't they implemented this yet? I know the contract states we still have to mail them a letter to tell them to stop charging after a contract has expired. I'm just hoping at some point they can stop the charge at the expiration month. If apartments allow us to remove our card when the lease is up, so should fitness centers. This is just my thought on the matter and am not sure if any one has thought of this as well.

I brought my own gloves, but had left the tangled wraps at home, so I did borrow a pair of those. **if you are going to join, I'd recommend investing in your own gloves/wraps. Definitely more hygienic. Class consists of a 15 minute warm up (and it's tough), 30 minutes on the bag, and 15 minute abs/core/stretch. Each person has their own bag, you just walk over to one when you come in and lay your gloves down so everyone knows it's taken. You do not have to reserve a spot in class (I've seen this done elsewhere). Depending on where you are, it can be difficult to see/hear the instructor in the middle, so get closer if needed. They do have mics, but the music is loud. Music varies by instructor; some I like better than others because music can make or break a class for me, but that's all personal choice. You can stop to take a break/get water as needed. I signed up after that first class. They offer monthly, 6 month or annual memberships. I wasn't in the mood for another monthly bill, so I just paid in full (less expensive that way too). There are cubes in the back to store your bag, water, towel, etc. during class. Keep in mind, no one actually hits you. You do all the punching and kicking on the bag. It's a great workout and awesome way to relieve stress. Everyone is at a different fitness level, so there is no pressure to keep up with the person beside you. The best part is when the instructor comes around with the hand mitts. You are doing the same combo as you would on the bag, but for whatever reason having a person standing there makes you excited & nervous because you don't want to mess up. They have an app you can download. Use it to scan a barcode each class. On the 8th scan, you get a free pair of wraps. Staff seems friendly enough sometimes. Not sure why Yelp has their hours listed as 9am-5pm since the last class starts at 7:15pm during the week. Concerns: (1) I'm not sure that the floor mat ever gets cleaned. I know at another similar facility, they used a Swiffer type cleaner after each class. (2) The restroom has only one sink. We were all lined up just to wash our hands after class. (3) The schedule shows kickboxing on Thursdays. When I went to class, we never kicked the bag once, it was all boxing. Hopefully that was a one time mishap. Because I don't want to box every time, I like to mix it up with kicks too. On the website it lists Kickboxing on Friday at 5:45pm. However, when I went to class (expecting Kickboxing), it was something different - B Sprint, which is just a 30 minute workout (and there were no kicks). There are at least a couple other discrepancies. They really should make sure the info on the website and app are correct so members can choose the proper classes we'd like to attend. Long review, but I take my fitness classes seriously.
