I took my daughters car into this shop a week after we bought it because the AC didn't work. John made making an apt easy and seamless and got me in the next day. He kept good communication and let me know that it was worse than expected that there were multiple things wrong. He went above and beyond calling the dealership I bought the car from and speaking with them. He is getting everything fixed in a timely manner and I couldn't have asked for a better experience with this situation. These guys are all so rude and pushoffy (especially if you're a woman walking into the establishment) charge double the standard diagnostic rate AND about triple the service rate. Went to 3 other places, was given MUCH better deals and was handled with care. I was on this building for 15 mins TOPS, charged over 200$ for a diagnosis and quoted over 100$ for a part that is 80$ that they are charging 300 for, and 600$ for labor. enough said... go literally anywhere else. I had them do some service on my 2013 GMC diesel truck, the were very through. I did run into some problems with the fuel lift pump they installed on the truck. I brought it back to "John" and he said he would look at it. Well they had to do some extra work to find out what the problem was, they checked several items on a truck that is filled with all types of sensors and electronic controllers. I know they spent several hours of diagnosis with the truck but they didn't charge me for that. And that is the reason I will go to them in the future....they didn't give up and they didn't make me pay for it. read more

I recently picked up a 1981 Trans Am; bucket list car for me from my youth. I bought it knowing some work and a little TLC was going to be needed. Before I got to far into it, this whole Coronavirus thing shut everything down and this car needed work beyond my skills. I called everywhere, went to several shops and unfortunately most if not all were backed up beyond belief due to state closures or just having problems getting enough staff to handle even the everyday work some of these shops did. After things started to reopen, I again called around and Total Performance answered the call. I stopped by and talked with John at the front desk and explained my dilemma. Expecting something no less than "3-4 weeks out" reply, John asked if I could bring it in the first part of the very next week! I was thrilled and shocked. The radiator was fine they broke the overflow and blamed it on us!! We are just blue collar worker's spending our savings needing a way to work! When I first came here I thought everyone was nice and helpful but that service has consistently gone downhill. I was 9 minutes late for my appointment and they gave my appointment away! Really!? They couldn't have called me first? I've been a customer of theirs for over a year. Plus the owner seems to want to piss me off. It was a Friday. I own an F350 diesel. I had the family the truck and the trailer fully loaded for a family trip. In Tacoma our truck started having serious issues. I limped it to the nearest Ford dealer and went in and explained the emergency I was having. The service person told me he could make an appointment for me for Tuesday. I explained to him that I was currently broken down in his parking lot and wondered if someone could look at it and let me know if I could drive it home. He repeated that he could get me an appointment on Tuesday. I walked out beyond disappointed and frustrated and worried how I was going to get my fully loaded truck and trailer home and how that was going to work with my dog, 7 month pregnant wife and 2 year old. I pulled around the corner and googled diesel mechanics nearby. By a stroke of absolute luck I came across the guys at Total Performance Inc. I called them, explained my situation and asked if there was anything they could do to help me. I'll tell you right now it was the complete opposite of Ford. They told me to come on over and that it would be $100 to check it out. No problem be right there. They accommodated me and my trailer by allowing me to park in the alley. Me my wife and my (sometimes annoying and growling) dog sat in their office for a while as the truck cooled and allowed them to assess the issues. They were able to determine that I was having an issue with a sensor in the transmission but assured me I could drive it home without damaging my truck. They also added a couple quarts to my transmission cause it was low. I thanked them profusely and got my wallet out to pay and they informed me that it was no charge.....WHAT?!!! That doesn't happen these days. I shoved a twenty at them so I could at least buy them lunch or something to drink. Of course they refused. But I didn't let them. So how can I recommend a shop that didn't repair my truck?? Quite easily. These guys were honest, knowledgeable and professional. The shop was very nice and extremely clean too. I will be forever thankful to the mechanics at Total Performance Inc. and I will not hesitate to go back or to recommend them to a friend. Thanks guys!!! read more

I didn't pass my Emissions test due to a very small evap leak, the diagnosis code was throwing code P0456. My brother in law helped me replace my purge valve and my gas cap but my engine light wouldn't clear. I called Total performance and explained the work I had done and what I needed was for them to pinpoint exactly what needed to actually be fixed and I explained that I didn't have that much money. They advised me that the gas cap would be the easy fix but since I had already replaced it to bring the car in and they would do a in depth diagnostic to pin point the issue. After their diagnostic check they called me to tell me that I needed to replace my fuel tank sensor and the purge solenoid. The next day when I picked up my car and paid them $650, I assumed everything was fixed but then the engine light came right back on that same day! I drove it right back to the shop for them to tell me that they needed an hour or so to take a second look. That hour turned into the entire day. By the end of the day they told me that they didn't know what was wrong, and that they had gone through every code. Essentially doing what they should have the first time which was an in depth diagnostic test. They advised that either they needed to take the entire car apart as it was possible that a line running from the gas tank to the front of the car needed to be replaced or that I could possibly have a faulty engine computer system. Bottom line this could all cost me more $ than my car was actually worth! This shop didn't want to refund me for any portion of the $650 I had paid for absolutely nothing. All they did was a use a standard diagnostic tool and advised replacing parts that weren't even faulty. Not sure how these guys can call themselves professionals. I have never written a review before but thought it was worth my time to warn any potential customer so that you can avoid getting ripped off. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this shop to anyone. read more

Not only did they break my radio but the part I paid them handsomely to replace either wasn't replaced or was installed incorrectly. I have been going to Total Performance for years. We tend to keep our vehicles well beyond the 200,000 mile mark, and much of this longevity is credited to John, Garret and their team of mechanics. I feel like they are looking out for my best interest - always recommending safety and quality repairs, giving me thoughts on optional maintenance items - so I can manage my car maintenance budget. I went in with my 1955 studebaker to have a corroded tail light sandblasted and rewired. They did NOT fix the tail light, but did replace the brake solenoid (which it did not need), then told me that my brakes were completely shot. I found that odd since i had replaced the brakes and master cylinder myself the weekend prior. Somehow they lost the screws to my headlights and the floorboard plate that covered my master cylinder. They used drywall scrws to secure my headlights in place, totally gouging out and ruining them. When i confronted them about it, the owners exact words were "take me to court if youre unhappy". All i can figure is that these guys are scammers. They didnt do the work they were paid to and flat out lied about my brakes. I suggest going anywhere but here, its not worth the chance theyll screw you too. read more

When I first took my vehicle here I was really happy to meet such nice workers who seemed to knowledgeable. My car is a BMW X3 and it was leaking oil. I was told due to were the leak was that it was crankshaft seal that was leaking. I had a warranty and also some out of pocket pay. I was told when I picked it up that I should be good but if it leaks within 500 miles of driving to bring it back. (This should have been my first red flag). After a fix that was approx 1000 I should not need to bring it back. Within 2 days the car was leaking once again. This time worse than it had before, so much so that my low oil light came on. I brought the car back and they this time claimed to have done an extensive diagnostic on the car with dye to make sure they found where it was leaking from. This took a few days and my warranty asked for pictures. My warranty made a claim and for some unknown reason they put my car on pause and took it out of line to be fixed due to wanting to hear back again from my warranty. This was not necessary on their part since the claim had already been submitted and sent to them. The owner got off early that day and I had to continue to wait for them to order the part for the oil filter housing gasket. When I finally got my car (approx 700 dollar fix) I was told there shouldn't be anymore issues and it shouldn't leak. TWO WEEKS LATER my car is leaking again. I call them and I am told they would need to do another diagnostic it could be leaking from several other parts too. This was really disheartening to hear. How could a business expect you to keep bringing your car as they play what could it be today and charge you tons of money for it. We took it to a certified BMW mechanic who found where the car was actually leaking from. The prior fixes were totally unnecessary as it was leaking from the pan. We paid for two fixes and were out of our car for a total of three weeks all because the car was not diagnosed correctly. It's really unfair that our money was wasted like this. Overall we are happy our car is fixed now. Please be careful with these expensive fixes. Make sure the people you take your car too know what they are doing so you don't spend money to have your car still unfixed! Just a polite warning. read more

took my car here about a month ago because it had overheating problems. they did fix one of my leaking hoses and SAID they tested everything so I picked up my car. $200 later I took it back the next day because they didn't fix it! They then "rechecked" everything and left my car sitting in their shop, running for over an hour to try to make it overheat. I even showed them a 5 minute video of what it was doing and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. A week later my family and I changed out my thermostat and it fixed the problem!! read more
