I haven't tanned in quite some time, but my lack of vitamin D was making me pretty cranky. I got a groupon through them for unlimited tanning for one month for $15. That was too good a deal too pass up. Usually, deals like this would put you in a crappy bed, but this includes levels 1-3! So awesome! Tanning places usually try to sell you wildly overpriced lotions, but the sweet girl behind the counter sold me one for $28 that works amazingly well. Yatzi! After seeing my complaint on Yelp, the owner contacted me via Yelp and email to resolve the issue. The owner offered me a few free tanning sessions to make up for the problem I experienced during one of my visits. I think this customer service is just what the tanning salon needed to improve their rating. Overall it is a good tanning salon; clean, many options, affordable, and now that the staff is reaching out to customers who have had complaints in the past, I believe the customer experience will be a positive one. read more

OK, for the Groupon, budget savvy folks, this is your place. Anyone else, do yourself a favor and check out the 101 other tanning places in the area. I like it's family owned but for God sake, you don't have to look it. Walking in there feels more like a depressing gynecological clinic in Toledo. Paint the walls, update the faded 80s photo on the wall, something! It's so sterile. Towels, in bulk are particularly cheap...why oh why do the ones there look like they were from the 80s? I'd rather use a piece of old newspaper than those ratty old things. When the owner is there (a pasty miserable looking white guy) you'll feel a chill in the air. He hardly cracks a smile and the staff is incredibly uncomfortable when he's around. Only pays his employees ten bucks an hour (when ONE of the beds there cost $50 for 12 minutes) and won't even let them tan for free. What is the point of working there if you can't even tan for free? So the staff, Lauren is amazing!! Very personable and actually gets to know you. She is the ONLY reason why I got a month package and a $64 bottle of lotion. Ally "can" be pleasant (Academy award for pretending to care about you) but most of the time sits at the desk with a puss on her face looking miserable. She honestly could give a you know what about you, just there for her paycheck. Peela (spelling) really only cares about selling packages. I was going there for about 2 months almost everyday and she STILL didn't even know my name but was the first to let me know if was time to renew. Oh and straight guys, be careful...she's a cougar on the prowl...If you don't pretend to be interested, she'll just tell all the other customers you must be gay. I called last Sunday around 3pm and I just wanted to get pricing for my daughter who's birthday is coming up, and she mentioned that since she lives close to this location she interested in tanning, anyway the girl hung up on me after several minutes, yes I was asking a lot of questions but its my right as a potential client to be informed. I really really honestly am not one of those spray-tanned botoxed cliches you hear about living in West Hollywood, but I know how fast the sun can age you, so I do my best to stay out of it. For years, my solution to having a tan without going into the sun has been Clarins self-tanners, which work really well, although you do need a helpful friend (who can keep a secret) to apply the product to your back and wherever else you can't reach. I have a helpful friend, but, with him out of town for a few weeks and with an important pool party to attend, I thought maybe I'd give spray tanning a shot. I read the reviews and decided I'd try out Total Tan. I have to admit that I had my doubts, but the staff made it all sound so simple. Once I got used to the machine's (female) voice talking to me, it was. In and out in just a few minutes...and I looked good afterwards. I'm pretty critical of my own looks, and Adam liked how Adam with a Spray Tan looked. I was definitely pool party ready, and someone actually complimented me on my tan and asked what brand of lotion I used. The tan even lasted longer than I thought it would. I'm not sure that I'm going to keep up a constant spray tan, but it's great to know that the option exists next time I need to look extra sharp in a Speedo. New to the LA area it was the first place near my new home that I could actually find parking, so I went in to find Phil, the owner, behind the counter. Went in for their "tan till 2012 for $99 deal" I was surprised with how BIG the salon is!! The salon looks like it was recently remodeled, super clean, and tons of different beds. I've only been a member for about 3 weeks, but really liking it so far! The salon is never crowded, which means no waiting for beds...which is a deal breaker for me with tanning salons. The employees are also pretty friendly and not intimidating. I know its pretty early for me to review since I recently joined, but I have a feeling I will be extending my membership past the new year. Clean facility, friendly staff... The reason for my low rating is the feeling of being nickel and dimed on sign up and cancelation. I went in with a coupon to sign up for $10-$20 off the first month of membership. The membership package I chose cost $50/ mo. You might think that with the coupon to sign up, the first month would have cost me $30-$40 out the door. Not so much... The first month ended up costing me $96 with membership, lotion and goggles. There was a bait and switch scheme with a sign-up fee. They either charge you a sign up fee or sell you over priced lotions. I, of course, chose the lotion even though I didn't really want it rather than pay a sign up fee. I should have just said no thank you and left. In the moment, I decide to give it a try and chalk up the higher than expected initial cost for the convenience, large selection of services, etc. I ended up not being able to really take advantage of the membership and decided to cancel after 2 months and was charged $30. There was probably fine print on the contract but the experience really left a poor impression. Kind of like the used car dealership... Get this lotion and we'll credit your sign-up fee, $30 to cancel before 3 months, etc. I would not have thought to write this review had it not been for the cancelation fee. There are other alternatives in the area that I have used in the past without feeling worked over. read more

I hardly ever write reviews but just wanted to simply say that every time I've come in and Stephanie is working she is so sweet & accommodating to me especially when others are around waiting in line she will make sure to get me in on my scheduled time for my body sessions (Infrared wrap) I've come in before and had someone instead of greet me she's on the phone and ignoring the fact I'm present for 5mins. That's the only negative experience other than that most of the girls are great : Jordan, Sidney & Stephanie very professional, kindhearted & positive vibe girls. I gave Total Tan 3 stars, although it really should be somewhere in between 3 and 4. I was recommended there by a good friend who religiously gets their mystic spray tan. The salon is spacious, pretty, although at times some of the beds haven't been cleaned properly as they had a bit of residue. The staff is all pretty polite and friendly however they are VERY INCONSISTENT in the information they provide customers. In reading other reviews, I noticed that new customers are supposed to get a buy one get one offer -- i never got that. although I was referred for mystic, I bought an unlimited package for their gold bed (which includes a standup bed), I believe this is level two. I did this so I could start a base tan before Coachella and my grad school graduation. The staff often give inconsistent advice and at one point I decided to try the level 2 regular bed. Somehow this ended up giving me lines down the side of my body. I went and told/showed the two girls on staff, and they didn't seem very concerned or phased. I feel that due to that snafu they should have offered me something to keep me happy, but instead I had to ask. They then gave me a free upgrade, although that didn't help very much, and I still have faint lines to this day. Additionally, all the beds have different instructions and I think if you have a monthly plan the staff there assumes that you know how all the different beds work. At one point I had to call the salon from my cell phone in the room to ask how to start one of the beds. This also happened with their Mystic as they told my friend a different way to stand with her arms than what I had been instructed... ??? Before going to Coachella I decided I wanted to double dip - meaning you tan in a bed and then get mystic. Someone on staff recommended I do the level 4 standup bed so I don't burn. I had previously been doing 8-10 mins in level 2. The staff told me to go for the entire 12 minutes in the level 4, which I did, and then I got sprayed. This resulted in me burning BADLY (also when you spray you are advised not to use any lotion in the regular bed cause its clogs your pores). This resulted in me peeling badly, which was really not cute for Coachella, and ppl asking me if I was a Cancer patient cause my tanned skin was flaking off in chunks. Sigh. Yet, I still returned. Again, I told the same girl who had helped me with the lines down my back and she wasn't really phased. It was time for me to renew my monthly unlimited plan and nothing was offered to me. So after debating a bit I decided not to renew. I mentioned to DIFFERENT staff member what happend with the level 4 bed and she shook her head in disbelief and said that I should have never been advised to stay in for the full time. All in all, I still go there at the moment to use their mystic however, i am looking for a place that will care more if the customer has a negative experience. This is not a bad place by any means, but the employee inconsistency is getting a bit old. I would say that if you decide to go here DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH rather than depending on staff. The Mystic tan here is absolutely the best one I've found anywhere, and the medium shade works amazing! tip: on Sundays they have a 50% off any single session (including mystic). This is really a stellar deal, but what is annoying is that you have to remind the staff to give you the discount. read more

The person that told me about the different beds & packages, was Ali and she could not have been more knowledgeable and educated on the beds they offer there (& i ask alot of questions) as well as the spray tan. I explained I had a previous credit from a year ago that was not a Groupon and she kindly put that balance towards the package that I purchased. I have been to ALOT of tanning salons (I move around a lot) and this place I ALWAYS end up coming back too. The owners, husband and wife, are always so sweet and kind and never try to upsell you on anything. Prices are always reasonable and both locations are always squeeky clean! I tried Darque Tan, holy hell, cheap at times, maybe but have you ever tried to have an actual conversation with any of them? So fake and complete assholes. Seriously. The place a clean and well organized, you absolutely get the feeling you welcome there. I've been coming here since October. I started out with a month through Groupon ($29 for unlimited tanning are you kidding me?!) and they had me hooked. I pay a little more per month now but it's worth it and the best deal in town. I'll usually go once or twice a week and that's enough to keep me bronzed and not ghostly pale. Maybe I should give this five stars..... I like them, I really do....but my pocketbook is SCREAMING! I went there initially using a Groupon for the infrared wrap. I really wanted to like it, but I really didn't notice anything. I get the same (if not better) results when I use my 'hot pants' in the dry sauna at the gym. I paid $55 for one session of a airbrush tan, which is spendy, but comparable since a person has to spray you and it is West Hollywod after all...I would have saved money if I bought the Valentine special of 3 for $99, but I was on a strict budget for my pending vacation and only needed one. I guess I am just not rich enough to enjoy their services full time...but I like this place well enough. I was SO excited to come here before leaving on vacation. I called multiple times to confirm they didn't require appointments. I drove over at 7:55 and arrived when the young man was locking the door. I understand a closing time but I spent 20 minutes calling to let them know that I was on my way and confirm they'd be accepting clients until 8 as I was told when I called earlier in the day.
