At least once a month (or maybe more) you can find me frequenting this Total Wine location. It's a large store that is well staffed, clean, has a really great selection that is constantly changing for the better AND is constantly being restocked. A huge shoutout to Ryan, who always greets us with a friendly smile and is not only proactively helpful but also kind and patient! This location has become the one location I come to attend Total Wine events. Specifically, I have been attending wine classes with Fran. She is a very knowledgeable professional but her wine classes can be a bit serious at times. I also wish I could hear her better because she has a lot of knowledge to share with all of us! read more

Total Wine & More is America's Wine Superstore and is the country's largest independent retailer of fine wine. There are 279 superstores across 29 states and continue to grow. When I lived in NY, there was 1 location in Westbury and in Massachusetts, there are 8 locations. The Total Wine & More in Burlington is located in Burlington Crossroads with many other businesses such as Target, Marshalls, and Michaels. The parking lot is huge so there are no problems finding a spot. The website, https://www.totalwine.com, is very user friendly and very helpful. I looked up the wines I was looking to purchase beforehand and it showed me the price, availability, and where in the store it is exactly located. There are also some delivery options. The prices aren't bad and were reasonable. At the store, the aisles were spacious and staff were available to offer assistance and were restocking. At checkout, there were 2 cashiers open and when a line started to form, they asked for backup. The info desk staff member helped me. He asked if I was part of the rewards program and I thought I was, but when we looked me up by phone number I wasn't in the system. He asked if I wanted to sign up and it's a free program. I said of course. It was quick to sign up and I got bonus points just for signing up to use next time. Total Wine & More has a great selection. Definitely worth checking out! read more

This is one of my favorite stores to get all my drinks. They have so much variety and are always well stocked. The employees are friendly and usually ask if I need help and are pretty knowledgeable. They have a rewards program but you have to spend $500 before you even get a reward and it's only $5 so it's not worth it unless you're buying cases every single week. read more

Total Wine & More has a great selection of non-alcoholic wines and spirits and is a must-stop for me to stock up on yummy N/A drinks. The staff has always been very kind and helpful to me. I am thankful that they have the selection they do and the prices are better than buying NA wines, spirits online. I came here yesterday on their Grand Opening Day and my first impression was WOW! You guys are too cool! This place is HUGE! I was quite overwhelmed, but there was no shortage of people wanting to assist me. Granted it was opening day, but I did sense a genuine care from everyone. Right in the middle of the store was where the party was happening. A gentleman by the name of Tom was doing Wine Tasting. He was the friendliest and most knowledgeable fellow. He did not care how many wines you wanted to taste, but it's best to not hog that counter and let other people enjoy the tasting too. One particular gentleman was helping me out with a Scotch I was looking for. Come to find out, he was one of the managers, Michael LeBlanc. You're awesome Mr. LeBlanc! I was looking for a bottle with 3 silver monkeys attached to the bottle. So he and 2 other managers were determined to find it for me, and they did! Monkey Shoulder Scotch. One of them asked if it was any good, I said, "I have no idea....I just like the bottle." Haha....I'm sure I will like it :-) The one thing I found that will make me frequent this place a lot more than I should, is that their price is pretty darn decent. For instance, I saw they were selling Suntory Whisky for $32.99. Every stores I've gone to carry this for 40 bucks! Nikka Coffey Whisky is $54.99 compared to $65 elsewhere. I don't know how they are able to sell them at such a lower price, but this chick isn't one to complain. They also offer Wine and Spirits classes, I'll be sure to check that out too. Cashier named Jen gave me dirty looks as I got in line and did not ask the gentleman for ID in front of me, but when it was my turn she didn't say hi she barked at me for my ID and after giving her my ID that wasn't good enough. She proceeded to make me take off my sunglasses which was ridiculous! It's total wine not the airport. I went to talk to the manager about the form of harassment and he brushed it off so I had to deal with higher up's. This is now the second time I have bought a can from their single can area only to get home and find that I have been charged for the whole 4 pack. The first time they at least dealt with it online, this time they insisted I come in. That meant a 4 mile drive each way then waiting at their customer service desk for this to be fixed. I really didn't get the idea that they realized what a pain it was to have to go back. I would have ignored it but I wasn't too keen to pay over $14 for a single can. So I strongly recommend that if you do buy any singles you check your receipt before leaving the store To be clear I have shopped here other times and as long as you don't buy single cans the whole experience is fast , friendly & efficient. read more

I was born and raised in Massachusetts and then have lived in eight different cities around the US. What I can remember is that in Massachusetts, alcohol had to be purchased only at a liquor store. In other cities/states, alcohol could be purchased in grocery stores, liquor stores (some drive-thoughs!!!), movies theatres and so on. Which I thought was dang cool. Been visiting why family for several months now and now found liquor, wine and beer etc. at grocery stores! Gigadee! I'll have to do more exploration on how much Massachusetts has relaxed. My first concern is being able to get a drink at a restaurant starting at least at 11 A.M. What are your opinions? I apologize for getting far off track. My sister took to Total Wine & More, which I was very impressed with - except for the generic name. It is a beautiful store with very professional and polite staff. They have so many product brands and known brands with original/new products that you won't find at a restaurant/bar. Yes, liquor, wine and beer. I also LOVE that you can buy individual beer bottles/cans to try to new ones. WooHoo! They also have a plenty of glassware, utensils, and fun items to give to friends and/or party hosts. I would definitely suggest to at least check it out. There are many locations but some need to improve the service since they've expanded quite quickly. read more

Redemption! No, no, I don't mean the rye (well, okay, I could), I mean the noun. My first visit to a Total Wine was in Virginia, where I was seeking a specific hard-to-find bourbon. Alas, I hadn't realized Total Wines in Virginia could only sell wine by state law - not so in Massachusetts. The selection was quite good, and there were multiple tasting stations going. And - get this - their prices for a few of their products, for example, scotch, are competitive with the prices at New Hampshire State Liquor Stores. With these stores added to the options, shopping for potables has gotten much more interesting. read more

The wine selection is great here. The problem is the customer service. The employees don't know good selections of wine. The cashier that we went to on 2 occasions was very rude. Older male told me that it's illegal in the state of Massachusetts to use coupons on wine and there is no program you offer for discounts. He really embarrassed me in the store and made me feel cheap. As if I can't afford wine when everyone loves a good discount.I found out on my own there is an app you guys have that provides discounts and loyalty points. After reviewing their website, I was interested in visiting their store. I could not have been MORE DISAPPOINTED! 1. I noted the exact aisle, etc. for the item I decided to purchase. 2. Upon arrival at the aisle, it was impossible to locate the number of the item I sought. 3. I began looking for ANY WORKING INDIV. TO ASSIST ME...THERE WERE NONE. 4. Finally, the store alarm went off, I walked to that location, found a distaught older woman, as well as a "manager" and requested assistance in Aisle "X". He advised assistance would be over IMMEDIATELY! None ever arrived. I waited and noticed 2 TWO lady workers chatting and walking away as I as calling them for assistance. I ran to them. The one most verbal and abrasive was DENISE, and she advised, "I am saying Merry Christmas to my worker-friend!!!!!", and would not be interrupted by a customer pleading for asistance. I waited for her, she finally came down the aisle, continuing her very, very abrasive, LOUD behaviour and advised me the SPELLING of the SAKE was incorrect on the LAST LETTER!!! I merely suggested she replace the "A" with an "E" and see if it works. She DID AS I SUGGESTED...AND IT WORKED!!!! RUDENESS, ARROGANCE, OBTINANCE, LOUDNESS, HAUTINESS, WOULD ALL DESCRIBE HER BEHAVIOUR. She placed the Sake bottles in my carriage, I asked her if she believed an apology was warranted, and she YELLED, "YOU GO FIRST!!! AND I EXPECT YOU TO REPORT ME AND THIS INCIDENT ANYWAY!" As I was leaving the store, coincidentally, the store manager asked me about my "store experience". I merely requested the name/contact info of the top management office, which he obliged. Upon turning around to leave, DENISE and a much younger worker were standing, staring at me and the store manager (approx. 5-6 ft. away)...during our conversation. An employee named Tina blocked me multiple times from entering the store despite me saying I had a restroom emergency. I had to move passed her and seek out others to give direction to the bathroom. She even left the building to approach my wife in the car and confront her while I was in the bathroom. Unsure why customer device and access isn't given to customers of color. At 10:45 am they emailed saying that they were cancelling 4 of the 6 bottles.At 4:25 pm they texted me that they were now cancelling the entire order.So much for that particular wine for my guests tonight.Waste of time.Perhaps they shouldn't take orders for wine that they either obviously didn't have or gave to someone else.Never again. read more

Unfortunately this is the second time in as many months I felt the need to write a review! I went to this location and purchased several bottles of wine and visited their humidor! As always I pushed the button for assistance and two very friendly staffers let me in and remained with me while I made my selections! Upon completion one of the staffer took the cigars and put them in a bag which was very nice although unnecessary! The next act was troubling!! I was then asked if I had any other purchases to which I responded in the negative! At this point both of these "escorted" me to the register and said the benefit of such an "escort" allowed for no waiting! The register had but one person in he line so there was no wait! The "escort" is a guise for making certain customers pay for their goods this make sense of course, but the store should articulate the policy and its purpose and not attempt to shield it as something it is not! This approach makes one feel they have done something wrong and it made me feel very uncomfortable! Stores have a right to protect their merchandise but they also have an obligation to be honest and make the customer feel welcomed! read more

I was their client for years, until I started having duplicated charges on my receipt. I tried to have it adjusted and the old man at register refused to do it saying he was right and he knew what he was doing. I showed him the receipt and he said "get out, you are on my way, if you have anything to complaint about just go to the customer service".I did, they fixed the problem but didn't care about that, seems they didn't like that I caught their unfair practice. A newer employee asked if I wanted help and was very enthusiastic. I told her I was looking to get a case of a specific brand. I said that there was a case up above vs me taking 12 off of the bottom shelf. She wanted me to try a similar winery direct brand at the tasting counter. I explained that I purchased that before but I was buying this specific brand (not winery direct) for someone else. At that instant, she started to walk away, her customer service/enthusiasm disappeared and she told me I could take 12 from the bottom shelf. As I loaded my cart, she helped another young woman with a Cava who bought 6 of what she suggested(winery direct) and then walked them to the registers. So apparently if you'd like good customer service from this staff member, you need to buy what she suggests from their winery direct selection? read more

I come down from NH to shop at the Burlington store. They have a huge selection of wine and spirits. In addition, they have a wonderful, helpful, knowledgeable staff. My favorite go-to guy is RICK! He's incredibly personable and offers great advice. He has never steered me wrong yet. read more

The store is huge...cashing out is slow. People go in to stalk their wine cellar, so going in for a six pack,etc can be frustrating waiting for the slow cashier to put every bottle of wine in boxes ..at a very slow pace, btw. This is when she needs to call for back up, but it never happens. Their is a creepy gentleman cashier who stares constantly. I avoid his lane even when there is no one in it, just because he is weird and creepy. Only positive is that their prices are low. read more

This place is heaven for alcohol and wine and it was a sort of cramped place with all the stuff they had but now with their recent expansion the place is bigger and more spacious. The aisles are loaded with pretty much every single type of wine, beer, alcohol you could think of including cold selections, cigars and even all sorts of food items. They have the latest and greatest selections and I make it a point to stop in here to find hard to find booze! Prices are decent and the staff is friendly and they get you in and out fast. Short version: nothing but praise for Becca and Tom in the Total Wine and Liquors store in Burlington MA store. Earlier this week I went in looking for Short Path Hibiscus Rum. I checked at the customer desk, and they told me where to find it on the open shelves. I went there and didn't find it. Someone did a thorough check of the overhead storage in the expected area and, when unfound, went to the warehouse to look for it. After a 15-minute wait, I left. I called a few days later, spoke with Becca and asked if the rum was on the shelves; she would only confirm it was in the store. I really didn't want to go back for another "warehouse waiting" session, but this rum is so worth it. I went back and it still wasn't on the shelves. I was an extremely unhappy shopper. I spoke with another manager who went and looked for it, and he couldn't find it. He decided to check the gins since Short Path also distills a gin and thought it might have been mis shelved. Still, no rum. I'm now 20 minutes into another visit and they still haven't found it. I've spent over 1/2 hour combined looking for something that should be there and isn't. My satisfaction level is dropping by the minute. Tom mentioned they'd give me something for my time whether they found it or not. Now, at least five people are looking for it; finally, it was discovered on the shelves above the bourbons. I really appreciated their thoroughness and the gift card they gave me. Tom and Becca converted a once cranky and disappointed shopper into a grateful one. They and their team did much better than just saying "I'm sorry"; they backed it up by showing me that my business matters to them, rather than just lip service. Total Wine and Liquors in Burlington continues to be my primary source for alcoholic beverages. read more

I went in the day after the grand opening and was very excited about the vast selection of alcohol, but was very let down by the staff. Unable to find the alcoholic seltzers at first, I asked someone on staff for assistance. He gave me a dirty look and pointed me to an aisle which ended up containing non-alcoholic seltzers. While I wandered to find the actual alcoholic seltzers no one else asked if I needed assistance. When I went to checkout a man standing by the register very rudely asked "Can I help you?" I said that I would like to check out and he stared me down until I handed him my ID. I am 24 years old, so their actions may have been due to them thinking I was under-aged. But I don't think the staff should have treated me so poorly for looking young. I left the establishment irritated and although the selection is great, I am unlikely to return. read more

While their selection is impeccable, the service needs some work. Some of their staff is very friendly and helpful, while others are not. I had a cart full of tequila, while still looking, when 3 employees decided to join me. They talked about their night beforehand while blocking me from selecting any other liquor. So I looked up to the camera in the aisle, and shrugged while walking away. (Hoping maybe someone would see and tell the employees) Then I went to checkout and had to wait for the clerk to get off her cell phone before she would ring me up. Nice store, modest selection of 1.5L wines, inane discount policy. I liked the store the only time I've gone there as there's a good selection of wines (but not so much in better-value 1.5L bottles). The small selection of 1.5L bottles means that even with Total Wine's low price, you get a better deal buying a 1.5L bottle somewhere else than buying 2x0.75L bottles of the same wine at Total Wines. Many wines stores give a discount for buying 6 bottles. So does Total Wine, or so I thought when I found out about the fine print: if the price ends in a 7 (like $8.97) that bottle is **not eligible** for the 6 bottle discount. I'm not making this up: got confirmation from the store and even though I saw many signs saying 10% off for 6 bottles, none of those clearly mentioned this inane rule. I first thought they were making fun of me but other yelp reviewers complained about it too. This store has only been open 3 months and is already getting mediocre reviews. Hope the management is taking notice and also noticing that there are some really exceptional wine stores within two miles of their location. Shape up or ship out should be foremost on their minds. read more

I understand the whole social distance but i go to the store, i am in mission to buy scotch, i wanted a Loaphroig. i go the aisle, the old man employee stocking the shelfs, blocking a good bit of the aisle, so i stand there for a few seconds seeing if he's almost done or not, and he out right says to me what are you looking for, I say "scotch" and this asshole goes on a rant/lecture saying in a very condescending way that "you shouldn't be browsing...no browsing...know what you want before you come here, no browsing..." Yeah, well, i can't even get what i want because he's blocking the shelf anyway...and i want to see the price....He's an a@@hole. I will boycott this place. I went to Burlington Wine and Spirits instead and bought a bottle of scotch that cost slight more, just to spite this place. Sad, I used be a big spender here, but i'm not putting up with that and these employees.
