If you advertise Price Matching you should HONOR it!!!! I came in on December 22 to purchasee two items that happend to be cheaper at BevMo by $2 each. Not that big of a deal, but the manager refused to honor the price match until he confirmed on his computer that the price was valid in Arizona. Seriously, showing him on my phone the live website was not good enough?!?!? What a waste of my time, and everyone behind me in line. I paid the full price to avoid delay, but I will not shope here again, and I will continue to shop at BevMo. BevMo has MUCH better customer service, and honor their price matching policy. I totally get checking the ID's of those under 30. I'm only 22, so of course I always expect to get ID'd. However, I don't expect to get followed around the store by employees then constantly asked what I'm looking for while being given advice that's unwarranted after saying I do not need help and I'm only browsing. What crossed the line for me was while purchasing beer, which I've done several times before, was the cashier insisting my ID was fake. Why? Because I have a different hair color and don't look the same as I did when I was 16. Yikes, does anyone look the same they did 6 years ago? After having several employees check it, she insisted it was a standard procedure for those who are 22 since they're supposed to double check every whose 22. After a full year of hearing yell "21 CHECK" over the loud speaker then having them almost call the police for my "fake" ID, I don't think I'll be returning. read more

I went in not even knowing what drink I had from Yardhouse and even with my vague description this staff member, Scott, was so smart and patient with me that he figured it out! He actually even improved the drink with another recommendation! They all have their knowledge in one way or another. It's smart to just ask who's the wine person and who knows beer! This is a ZERO STAR RATING! Horrible service and prices. Tried to charge me $6-$7.00/bottle for Hitachino Nest beers. Called Tops Liquors who are not cheap and their prices were $5. What pisses me off is that they are discontinuing the Hitachino Nest beers. They're supposedly on clearance. But what made me walk out on the sale was the fact that I still wanted the Spaten 6-pack and the sales girl preceded to ring everyone on line (ringing 4th customer when I walked out) even though I already waited online. I guess in her mind since I made the telephone call and stepped out of line I lost my place. The proper thing to do is take me first since I had already been through the line. A total disaster for me. I got a coupon mailer and figured I'd check them out. Bad prices and bad service. I will not be going back. read more

I've been going to this total wine pretty much since it opened. Although I've never been too big a fan of their customer service, I still continue to stock up on my wine and beer here because they have great prices and an awesome selection. One time, I was told to purchase a certain bottle of Chardonnay by one of the associates and he stated that I should really like it. When I got home and had a glass, it was probably the most disgusting thing I've ever had. On my next visit to total wine, I communicated to the gentleman who suggested it to me that I did not care for it. He had said if I had brought that bottle back rather than throwing it out, they would have replaced it with something else. Knowing this, the next time, and yes there was a next time, I got a bad bottle of wine I returned it to the store and exchanged it with no issues. It almost tasted like it had already been open for days I think the term for that is oxidized? Fast-forward several months later, I had purchased a bottle of Sterling Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. I've had this wine dozens of times before and I've always enjoyed it. It's not cheap at $27 a bottle. When I got it home, I poured a glass tasted it and it tasted like rubbing alcohol. Again not sure the term but I think it's oxidized. So, I headed back to the store to attempt to exchange it for something else. The manager I spoke to, and of course I can't remember his name, told me "there's nothing we can do". No exchange, no refunds, not even an I'm sorry, nothing literally nothing this guy did nothing. You could've at least give me a coupon or something! I've spent thousands of dollars here and I am completely offended by the way that I was treated. If you buy a $27 a bottle of wine and you take it home and the product is bad somebody should take care of that and not just brush me off like oh I guess you're just sol very disappointed and probably need to find a different place to shop for my beer and wine UPDATE Changing my review from two stars to one star. The customer service at this location is atrocious. I was there recently making a purchase when a large sign fell on me ripping my earring out of my ear and cutting my wrist. When I brought this to the attention of the manager his only response was do you want a bandaid? I didn't realize my earring was missing until after I had left. When I went back to retrieve my earring a couple of days later I was greeted with the same terrible customer service. The woman that I spoke with when I was trying to explain the situation to her told me I have no idea what you're talking about and rolled her eyes. I can't keep going back it's just not worth the headache and then treated like this. Next time something may fall on me and actually hurt me and nobody will care. I was shopping around for a Christmas gift of 16 year aged Bushmills and a friend told me that it was in stock here at Total Wine and More. What an incredible place! Aisles well-marked, and a superior selection of wine, spirits, and more. The staff was helpful, and friendly which is saying a lot as it was the week of Christmas. The absolute WORST experience!!! I was ready to check out & presented my ID, then was asked by the cashier if the little girl with me was my daughter. After replying yes, she handed my ID back & responded 'Okay, just making sure. We have to ask those questions because of people buying for someone under age.' My daughter is EIGHT years old!! And clearly looks like an eight year old. I've taken her with me to this store on many occasions & have never been questioned or even told she wasn't allowed in the store. The cashiers actions were completely INAPPROPRIATE by implying that I would be purchasing alcohol for a child! Monkey Shoulder a new blended scotch. I typically choose a single malt scotch preferably in French oak barrels but I've wanted to try this as I've many good reviews. I asked an employee named Matt for assistance to which he rolled his eyes and said "I'm sorry I've never heard of it!" Crossed his arms and turned away. I was infuriated as this store prides itself on knowledgeable and helpful employees. In the past they have been so I'm not sure why this Matt was so Rude! I proceeded to help myself as several employees there heard and did not step up to help. I found the bottle proceeded to find Matt and said, "Here is the scotch I asked you about you should take pride in yourself and learn your store." He replied, "it's over 3,000 bottle Bro!" I replied, "I'm not your Bro! You should also learn to talk to your customers." Then he walked away. I complaint to Traci who was the nigh manager that Friday and all she said was, "I'm sorry." There was no taking to the side asking my side of the story as Traci has seen me before and knew I was a regular. The staff here is very knowledgeable and we like their recommendations, especially on their wine selections. Best place to come for a last minute gift. There is so much to choose from. They do have wine & liquor tastings, but the tequila tastings are top notch. We are tequila lovers, and due to the tasting we have come to find some new favorites. We have purchased a few kegs here and they have they have a great selection and cheaper than Bev-Mo. We love coming here....we're like kids in a candy store. read more

Their policy on asking for my ID for an energy drink is ridiculous. I am 27 years old and in no way look under 21, if you pay your cashier. 10¢ per ID request for my energy drink of course he will ask me for it.... But make a judgement call. The manager there was sticking up for her cashier which is nice but make a judgement call as a leader and realize he was wrong. I work in the mall and was in walking distance and just had my debit card on me. No need for my ID of I'm just buying a Xience. I have been there before and never asked for my ID but good old Greg at the checkout who makes probably $7.50/hr wanted his dime in his paycheck so he clicked ask for ID on my $2 energy drink. I LOVE Total Wine. It's like BevMo but better. It is closer to my house than any grocery store, so if I'm buying drink, I go here. The prices are phenomenal, the customer service is amazing, and the selection is ridiculously large. I would definitely consider myself to be a regular here. Total Wine is one of the best beverage shops I've ever visited. The prices are reasonable; however, it is the staff that makes the difference. I'm come home with fantastic (and reasonably priced) Irish Whiskey, Potato Vodka's and Scotch as well as wine based solely on recommendations of the staff. They never try to up-sell, but spend the time listening to what you like before they make recommendations. read more

Great selection, good customer service, but horribly inconsistent in which forms of identification they accept. I am German and have been there three times now. The first two times, as a tourist, then as a visa holder, my German ID card was proof enough that I am a 30 year old human being. Today however they did not accept my previously accepted ID card, as they only accept driver's licenses, yet not my driver's license as it was not issued in the US. So lucky us had to drive back home in over 100°F weather to get my passport that they promised to accept - of course not before asking me questions about it to make sure I am really the person on my THREE forms of identification. I do understand that they have to make sure that everything is correct but it would have saved us and them a lot of hassle if they would be consistent and would not randomly decide that one day a foreign ID is valid and the very next day it is not. My fiance called the main office of Total Wine and they said it is up to the store manager what forms of ID they accept so it is indeed rather random. The store itself is amazing though, lots of selection, lots of foreign beers, fancy wines and special liquors (I only drink beer, if any alcohol at all, so my knowledge is limited, but I guess a $300 tequila with a dead freaking scorpion in the bottle probably is some special liquor). The service was decent, the staff members that helped us gave good advice. The one thing that was a bit bothering was the narrow aisles that barely left room to really manoeuvre a cart around people looking at bottles, so shopping there involves a lot of "excuse me" and "sorry" and "I did not mean to ram my cart into your heels, please don't sue" (I might have exaggerated the last one...). We will be back, but only with my passport in my bag ;D read more

If you're into annihilating your liver with style, I imagine this is the place to be, a dizzying and overwhelming selection of booze; store is very clean and located in the well maintained San Tan Mall. During busy times, parking can be a problem (not only for this store, but the mall in general). read more
