I went into the store to make a quick run to grab a singular drink on my one day off, but had to bring my young sister as she couldn't be left alone in the car or alone at home. When I get to the cashier they ask to see her ID as well(she is clearly not 21), and they call the manager over and they then very rudely refuse service to me because I brought her in. I suggest to them that she can wait outside since it will be a quick transaction but they refuse saying since they know I'm with her they can not serve me alcohol. Would it have made a difference if I was unsafe with her and left her in the car? They wouldn't have known then and would have served me. Overall this was poorly handled and I was spoken to in a very rude and condescending way. Extremely disappointed in their customer service. read more

This is the place that you can wonder in for hours and discover treasures from all around the world that you did not know existed. They have a good selection of everything, and a lot of local stuff. What I like most is the variety and price. I have yet to find a place that offers a comprehensive selection as Total Wine while still being cost competitive. The only negative is that the parking and mall traffic; it can be cumbersome at times. read more

Not everyone naturally has excellent or even decent customer service. Those who don't, need to either fake it til they make it or just stay away from positions where they directly interact with customers. This particular cashier was too catty for my taste. Having a bad day? Don't take it out on your customers and definitely do not demand they do something for your convenience. I am fairly understanding when it comes to procedures, but what I will not tolerate is an unwarranted attitude simply because a bottle or wine wasn't placed on your conveyer belt the way you wanted it to be placed. I'm very disappointed in how I was treated after Ducey's decision to lift the mask mandate. I came in thinking masks were no longer a thing and I was confronted by not 1, not 2, but 3 employees. All of which were hostile with me. They told me I needed to wear a mask and I simply asked why and I was met with snarling remarks and disdain for Governor Ducey and one of the employees even told me "You should be very afraid". I am an easy going guy and never start trouble with anyone, so to be treated with such hostility over a situation which was genuinely confusing is unacceptable. I'm well over 21 but got carded today -- which I respect and understand, but what I found odd was the cashier reviewed my ID (didn't scan like they normally do) and collected info from my license on a sheet of paper along with others I presumed she'd gather for the day. If management reads this review, I'd appreciate if it's explained why information appears to be collected from identification cards -- in this case a driver's license. Very weird! read more

I come to this store to stock up, and find new items. When at Total Wine last week Eric was kind enough to drive his case picker and loaded 3 cases of wine into my cart. Then I wandered to the Beer area where you they often have beer tasting provided by local breweries. Nothing was going on but Eric was stocking in the beer area and I asked him for some help to taste a couple of beers which I did and then purchased a Growler. First time in the store, I went in to buy the new Brothers Bourbon. I had a hard time finding it due to the fact that there was one bottle left and it was pushed to the back, not saying anything at all I mean that's common on an item they sell a lot of but the associate named LINDSEY was absolutely rude and non professional, I asked where the Bourbon was she stopped, looked at me for a good 3 minutes and then proceeded to say the bourbons on isle 3, that's where it always is. I then asked to talk to ERIC the manager and got the same treatment. I don't know what's happening to businesses but if you don't like your job please quit and find something that you enjoy doing. I like Total Wine more than BevMo. They have a larger selection of scotches and bourbons. They are pretty helpful there, but one guy told my fiancé that a cheaper bourbon was comparable to Buffalo Trace, and he was way off. So take their suggestions with a grain of salt. Okay prices and selections but try and find what you want. Again they've juggled the inventory so that what you got last time is on the other side of the store now. I was tasked to find a specific bottle of wine. Meanwhile scavenging for that bottle I collected four other bottles of rye, gin, vodka, and bourbon. I could not enlist any help from the staff so I decided to go else where and replaced the previously collected items. While doing so, another customer revealed the wine storing system to me. I found the wine I needed, bought it for $7.95 and left. Total Wine saved me from the added expense of about $90.00 by having such bad customer service. Thank you. read more

First disclaimer: I'm not a drinker. Just don't like it. But my wife and mother-in-law sometimes like a glass of wine with dinner. We also cook with wine. "Cook?", you ask? Yes...you should NEVER buy a "cooking wine" in a grocery store. You should cook with a wine you'd be willing to drink. "Cooking wine" usually has a lot of added salt (sodium). For a little bit more get a proper wine. So here we are... The place is huge. A truly impressive selection of wines, beers, and liquors. We needed a decent cabernet for cooking (sauvignon is dry, so doesn't add any sweetness to the dish). Plus my wife wanted a bottle of rioja (a Spanish red). It was actually tough to choose because there were several of each available. We ended up getting a total of 6 bottles because they had a special deal wherein you buy six bottles and get about $2 off each bottle. All in all a productive trip. And the staff is really friendly and helpful too. read more

I used to go to this store since 5 years but will not after todays encounter. Went to the cashier and rang up my order and it wasn't the right price because they had placed a different whiskey in the wrong sticker price. The cashier then proceeds to tell me to follow her to check which bottle was actually the price I wanted and while that was happening my wife was standing at the cashier line with our 10 month old twin girls and while I was gone one of the managers basically told my wife to get out of the damn store because apparently it was too busy and she was taking up the whole line where customers could be helped with but the whole damn time THERE WAS NO CASHIER BECAUSE SHE WAS HELPING ME. To top things off while we were looking for the right bottle, she couldn't find it and asked for another white collared manager to look for it and he glanced at his device for a second and say we don't have it while I'm looking at the app and clearly says it was in stock. Eventually this black manager found it on top and helped me get the bottle. IF YOU ARE NOT WHITE DONT GO TO THE GILBERT STORE! Tonight I had a 'sketchy' experience here. I am down here in Arizona at my friend's house for her birthday. I was with a group of 6 people, ages 23-29. Everyone had their ID's but me. I have a PopWallet (card slot on phone case with my ID in it) and my phone was at the house charging, we stopped here spontaneously after picking up our other friends from the airport. The group compiles a cart of over $100 worth of items. I'm about 5 feet away from the register, standing with my arms folded and looking off to the side. She checks everyone's ids and then asks for mine. I tell her "I don't have it, I'm not involved in the purchase". She catches an attitude and raises her voice "All parties in the store must have ids". I respond "Well then I can just leave the store". She snaps "No! It says it on the door! I need to get a manager over here." So then the manager (who looks a few years younger than me lmaooo) comes up and says he will not sell my friend any alcohol... because I, an aloof (low-key autistic) member of a party of 6, wearing an old t shirt and feeling gross due to the airport travel..... had my ID at home in my PopWallet. The ID notice on the front door was small, the sign should be MUCH bigger, and it was low on the door and in a smaller font than the unrelated texts above. My main point is, the woman could have had some empathy with her delivery. We felt as though she had a big attitude, and was almost yelling at us with her tone of voice. Is this an Arizona policy? (Not sure, because Target ended up letting her buy alcohol with no hassle). If this is just a company policy.... they honestly could have made an exception for me given my lack of involvement with the transaction and that I look my age (26). Summary: 1. Teach that cashier how to interact with people and use speech in line with proper customer service. Reiterating a store policy politely is fine, but scolding people and acting as though this was purposeful is just unnecessary. 2. Put that ID information on the door in larger font and make it eye catching. read more

First of all, my fiancé and I usually love Total Wine as a company. However, THIS location has never been kind to us. The service from the staff is always so horrific and they never make us feel like we aren't a burden. Today, we stopped in to grab a jar of cherries. First of all, we're waiting in line to buy them, a SINGLE jar of cherries, and we waited for a long time. However, the older gentlemen checking people out just suddenly decided to not take one more, and rudely stepped in front of us, blocking us off and closing off the line saying "I'm going home." Not even to us! He just said it to the last woman he checked out. Guys name is Tim. Stay away from that guy. Absolutely ridiculous you don't even say sorry or anything?? I've worked in customer service before and I get it, it sucks. When you're off the clock, you want to go home. However, just rudely stopping service without being nice about it is not how you do it. Next thing is an issue with the girl who checked us out. Vanessa. After making us switch lines and wait another 10 minutes to buy a jar of cherries, she needed our ID's... to buy cherries... lol. And she was just very rude overall. We asked why she needed to ID us for a non alcoholic product, and she just gave attitude in response. I love that they have an online store showing what items they have in stock and the reviews. I hardly ever buy wine so I was super overwhelmed by all the different types there were. I stood there for a few minutes trying to find the ones I saw online and had a hard time. I did a few laps in store and still couldn't find what I wanted. I finally felt like I had wasted enough time and asked someone in there where I could find my selected wines. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. I chose 2 reisling sand 2 moscatos. After shopping previously at the Total Wine stores in Tempe and Central Phoenix, I can say this store has the best selection of hard-to-find craft beer. Two days before Christmas, I was able to find Alpine Willy Vanilly -- one I hadn't been able to find at any other Total Wine in the valley. The staff is super helpful and will assist you in finding your favorite brew. They were out of the Stone IPA singles but had plenty of six packs. An associate allowed me to break one of the six packs into singles. They also have wine and beer tasting events on site to try something new! read more

I love this place. I visited the Desert Ridge location earlier in the year and really liked it, but was disappointed that there was not another location closer to my home. Well now there is. Woo hoo! There's lots of parking directly across the street from the store. And they always have several registers open so even on a busy weekend day, you usually only have one other person in front of you in line. Pretty good selection and stock. They now charge $0.10 for wine tastings (tried 3 wines) and they have them on Fridays (12-6 pm), Saturdays (11-6 pm), and Sundays (12-5 pm). They have a table set up in the middle of the store where you show your ID and drop a dime into the jar. They had a beer tasting going on at the same time. I wasn't interested in that so I didn't check out the dates, times, and cost for that. Sorry! And the best part is there's actually people to help you here unlike some other big places like this that I've visited. Where there isn't an employee in sight. BOOZE HEAVEN. Being Canadian, for reasons relating to both price and selection, I find myself in awe in regards to most American liquor stores. This particular one however, really takes the cake. With a dizzying selection of spirits, wine, beer, this place is truly the one stop shop. I was in search of a particular Lychee liquer that is no longer available in the (extremely regulated) Manitoba Liquor Marts. Within 30 seconds of walking in the door, 2 staff members were hunting for this godly nectar as if their lives depended on it. Within another 2 minutes VOILA, 2 bottles of liquid lychee gold were in my possession; and the rest is a blur... Well not really, but it sounded appropriate, no? The service here was really amazing, and I was in literal AWE of the amount of products there were to choose from. Being from out of state, I am not really sure how their prices compare to other local vendors, but being from taxed-till-the-cows-come-home Canada, the prices they did display seemed more than fair. We also picked up some cool accessories (think frozen icicle-apparatus to keep the contents of your wine bottle chilled), and some snacks; and came to the conclusion that contrary to what those Mickey Mouse commercials had been telling us all of these years, we had FINALLY found the happiest place on earth. read more

Sent me down an isle that was 15 isles away from where it actually was located. Next guy I tried to talk to barely had one second to look up from to his uber important computer screen to answer my question. I did however get a one word grunt. Berry- the manager apparent-- walked past me twice yapping into his Bluetooth phone but never once acknowledging my presence in his store. If you enjoy 100% self service, this is the store for you. Shopping here made me feel at home. The store could be located in the French Quarter of the Crescent City. The workers were very helpful and friendly. And the customers were like old home folks. Departed the place with a shopping cart of good stuff and a smile on my face. The prices were reasonable and the selection is unlimited. This place rocks. I tried BevMo and it was OK but Total Wine is the place to go. their prices are the lowest I have seen their selection is great. I like several types of liquor but have never been a huge fan of wines. That changes every time I come to this store. The wine tasting has really taught me how to select wines. The staff is great. There is one person there (sorry I don't know his name) that I have gone to a few times and said this is what I am fixing for dinner and this is what my guest like, I want something new. He makes recommendations (usually less expensive than what I was looking at) I buy them and my guests are thrilled. If you are looking for a relaxing afternoon out of the heat go to one of their wine tastings. (some times they taste other liquor too) If you want beer selection go there. They have several Gluten free beers also I have to stop myself from visiting the store whenever I drive by. Its just that good. read more

We don't live near this Total Wine, we live a lot closer to the two Tempe locations however per their website it was the only one remotely close who had a specific beer in stock we were looking for (21st Amendment Hell or High Watermelon). We couldn't find it on our own even though we went up and down the aisle the website said it was in many times. We tried asking two employees for help and we were ignored by both. My husband finally got a manager, and he also had no idea where it was but took him over to a seasonal beer section and the manager said "should be somewhere over here" and then left. Zero help from essentially everyone we interacted with. Sadly, we left without Hell or High Watermelon and picked up some other random beer. Cashier was nice at least. read more
