They have what you need but if you are in your late 20s It's going to be a very unpleasant visit!!! My Fiancé and I are getting married on Wednesday. Our wedding ceremony is canceled due to COVID-19, we thought we could send a bottle of champagne to our guests. The shopping was hassle free and they have great prices. We are use to getting carded even though I will be 30 in May. We had our IDs ready for the employee but she asked about "Our friend". We were very confused since everyone is suppose to be quarantined and only go out for essentials. She insisted that we came in with a friend and even called a manager to check our IDs. The manager signed off without hesitation and didn't say a word to us. The overall experience was unpleasant and embarrassing. We were purchasing bottles of champagne and sparkling wine NOT beer or cheap spirits !! I'll take my money somewhere else. They have surveillance everywhere and could easily check that when we walked in, it was just the TWO of us. We didn't even may contact or start a conversation with another customer. read more

Does this place have any sort of customer service training? I did some research and found that they have beer from Czech Republic. I could not find it on the shelf, luckily for me, there was a manager in the same aisle I was in and asked him if they had any of the beer in stock. He scanned the bar code and said no, then led me over to the fridge to see if there were any in there. No luck. All out. He apologized and walked away, not recommending any beer with similar flavor. I'm not total wine trained, but knew to check the single beer side and found six single beers of the one I was initially looking for. Excited that I found them, I grabbed all six and proceeded to the register. The cashier was on her cell phone, texting or facebooking. Not caring to say hello. She scanned my beers and gave me my total. After she gave me my receipt and change, she went right back to her cell phone. Not taking the bag out of her rack and handing it to me. Not thanking me for coming. Not asking if I found everything I needed. No care that a paying customer is in the store. Not sure I'll be back to total wine. Difficult to do this review. I actually love Total Wine and have been in many stores both in AZ and WA. Along with great variety and selection, an abundance of affordable options, my customer service experience has always been exceptional. Staff who are available, open, knowledgable and generous with their expertise and knowledge. Until I started shopping at this branch. Visit after visit staff are invisible, annoyed when you solicit help, poorly informed and indifferent to your needs. We just shop on our own now and don't rely on staff expertise, interest or guidance . And we have the potential to spend so much here over time. Baffling. How did this branch get the company DNA so wrong? Update. Did get a very good letter back from Corporate Customer Service and they say they shared this feedback with the district manager. The store's customer service when you go in for pick up is great. Everyone is very friendly. Be careful when you request deliveries though. The last two orders we had delivered were wrong! The receipt read the correct items, but the liquor they delivered were ALL wrong! Sure they got the vodka right, but not the ones we ordered. In regards to the review complaining about the store's zero-tolerance policy on ID-checking, it should be noted that this is Arizona state law - NOT simply a store or company policy. Go somewhere else, if you'd like... they're still going to follow the same rules. This location has a nice selection of beer and wine. Not really into drinking, but on occasion, it's nice to stop by and test out a few new things. Show up in line with everyone's IDs out and ready to be checked, and you'll have no problems. read more

First off let me start by saying I am a big craft beer fan and no one out here has the selection that Total Wine does. In regards to stock it's amazing. However the problem is their staff is horrible at telling you if they have an item in stock. I typically end up walking the isles looking for a particular beer that shows "in stock" on their website but nowhere to be found in the store. Asking the staff for help is like asking them do your taxes...with a sigh or moan and then the usual "if it's here it will be on the shelf"....gee thanks I hope you didn't strain yourself. I got to say this is the most annoying place to shop on the face of the earth. I go out of my way never to go here. I am 38 years old and was told to leave because my 29 year old friend who was with me from Argentina didn't bring his passport with him. More recently I was shopping there with my 38 year old wife and bought some non-alcoholic mixer and they asked us both for ID'S because they said you can't even be in the store unless your under 21. I really don't need the aggregation of going through this mess for some fruit juice. My husband and I love to entertain and also enjoy a bottle of wine or a couple beers together. Total Wine offers domestic and International liquor. Everything from beer, wine, vodka, soju, sangria, etc. Prices range from fair/modest to expensive (depending what you are buying). They also have a walk-in Humidor area with a nice selection of cigars (yep, I smoke a nice cigar with my hubby on occasion!) On certain days they have a counter set up where you can sample wine, one day we were lucky enough to sample some wonderful tequila. The representatives were knowledgeable and helpful. No high pressure sales; "if you like, you buy" if not, it is ok too! There is an amazing variety, fair prices (you can get 10% discount for buying a case of wine), the staff is friendly and super helpful! It is a great one-stop shop! It is clean, uber-organized and if you don't find what you are looking for---the very knowledgeable staff is quick and very informative. Total Wine is our TOP SPOT for stocking up on all our alcohol! Outstanding! I'm from Montana and was in town for a company Christmas party. Of course we needed wine! My co-worker needed to go to Best Buy for some wireless equipment and Total Wine was right next door so in I went. At first I was completely overwhelmed. Towers and rows of wine divided by type, country, and everything else. I thought to myself, "Self, you're never going to find your wine here". I was wrong. The store is set up very intuitively. I walked in, stopped and absorbed the massive inventory. Then I turned left and three rows down located the 1.5L section. Driving 30 mins out of my way to get champagne for a friends birthday party only to be denied the sale and accused of purchasing alcohol for a minor. On Friday November 29th I was attempting to buy 2 bottles for the celebration however Samantha, a store clerk was rude and automatically assumed I was buying the bottles for my minor cousin who was with me such day. I advised Samantha that my cousin was under age however he was not purchasing the alcohol nor consuming it. She stated that there's a store sign indicating everyone entering the store should be 21+ and mocking me I should read it next time. I also spoke with the manager Dre, who was also rude and disrespectful just repeating what Samantha had said not bothering whatsoever to listen to my version of the story. Long story short, both the employee and manager were very rude and unprofessional. Most people don't read signs when entering a store so next time be more polite and understanding with customers, don't assume. However I don't think there will be a next time as I'm done shopping at such location!! read more

I shop here often. The first time in this store more than a year ago I noticed the cleanliness of the store, the friendly and well educated staff. If you ask one staff member a question about something that they are not 100% certain about .. they'll ask one of their other team members. They've answered questions about wine, scotch, cigars etc. and every time ... the answer I was given was correct. Consistency ... :) If you don't like a product ... bring the remaining back and you get either a refund or an in store credit. With a gaurantee like that .. combined with intelligent answers, wine tastings, scotch classes .. in their modern top of the line classroom in back of the store ... WHY would you shop anyplace else? Love this place over the other large beverage establishment in town! The staff are knowledgeable about everything on their shelves. Tell them what you're into and what you'd like to try and they'll take the time to assess your palate further to dial in some great recommendations.
