He fielded questions from the class as he both poured the wine & described the winery's history. * Class Experience: My sense is with the "Caymus" name most folks hoped it would be Caymus-only poured during the class. But for the time, number of tastings (including getting to revisit wines post-event, snacks, & convenience of being able to try so many wines in the Wagner portfolio, the event was a terrific value. This location opened a few years back and I could not be happier. Not only are they very competitive with pricing but they are also very customer friendly. What I love best is that Thursday through Sunday, they have free tastings and each week is different plus you can try champagnes! I do end up picking up something that I never would have considered. They also have regular classes on wines around the world and very reasonably priced. The only thing I would do different during a class is offer more food. You end up tasting quite a few wines and that makes me tipsy which more food would alleviate. The classes are generally around $20 unless a winery is holding a class in which case, they may be slightly higher. They have quite a few locations but the one I go to at Stevens Creek and Lawrence has plenty of parking as well. I have been to a couple of other locations and since they all tend to be in a large outdoor mall area, parking gets very difficult, especially the Mountain View location which is next to a Costco and the Almaden location. They sell the wine boxes for $5 and some of these are very well made so you get them at a steal. The manager at the Stevens Creek location can get a bit spicy at times but for the most part, everyone is great. I would definitely recommend! read more

Not sure why everyone was being so passive aggressive today. I came to purchase Hennessy XO which was locked behind a glass door. I approached three employees who wouldn't give me the light of day - they either refused to make eye contact, or quickly walked away. After someone finally assisted me, which I assume is the manager because they were wearing a white shirt, they told me they'd sent the bottle to the front. I get in line, get to the cashier and asked what bottle I was picking up, I said "Hennessy" and they responded with "of course you are"?? What the fuck is that supposed to mean ? The cashier is a bald guy. As I begin to pay, my card declined so I asked the cashier to attend the other buyers while I sort my issue. After immediately resolving my issue, the cashier ignored me, kept checking out other buyer after I told him that I was ready to go. He looked at me with such despair and told me to hurry up, handed me my bottle and began talking politely to the next person in line. Not sure what I did to deserve these type of interactions, but I hope it's not like this when I visit again. read more

IMHO My hubby was in search of Blue Label Johnnie Walker and since it was priced lower than Costco, and there was some inventory at this particular Total Wine, we headed there! Total Wine was all dressed up for Christmas and very bright and festive. We couldn't find the Johnnie Walker on our own and had to ask someone to guide us to their selection. Unfortunately, we didn't see any Blue Label. A young sales employee had never seen Blue Label but ran off in search of it. Maybe 10 minutes later, he came back empty-handed. We thanked him for looking and were about to head to another store location. Hubby decided to ask (maybe) the store manager (?) She went back to the stockroom and came back with the Blue Label! I've been to this particular, total wine and more a handful of times and apparently I never wrote a review! Lol this particular day it was a warm Saturday afternoon and I wanted to get a wine or something refreshing for Sunday. I was pleasantly surprised as I walked in to find that they had wine tasting until 6 PM! It was 530! I was there at the perfect time! On both sides of the counter, they had six different wines, everything from white, rosé, Merlot, and A champagne to try! What a great selection and a great way to up their sales! Do we need 10,000 bottles of alcohol ? No . Do we have the place for storing them ? again No ! But has it ever stopped my hubby from still getting box full of the stuff ? you guessed it Never ! Cali prices are a steal when you are coming from Washington/Oregon, two states with the highest alcohol tax and hence we make it a point to get our hands on some of the good stuff if we are here . Huge wine selection and the staff was friendly and helpful in suggesting brands and deals . Wines are mostly broken down into country of origin and you can find some interesting ones for sure. If you don't know an awful lot about wine, the James Suckling rating scale is the best cheat sheet - and not all the wines will break your bank! Prices seem pretty typical but I know some other Costco's in the area have better deals but not as much variety. read more

I came for an Order pick-up that I placed online and the person who "assisted" me was a blonde man who I believe to be French? Online didn't realize it was only 375 mL bottle and we wanted the 750 mL fast-forward this evening. We purchased it again this time at the Stevens Creek store online came in to pick it up and return the incorrect bottles. The store refused to take them back because they weren't purchased at that store even though it's the same company I had my receipt online to show them and they refused and said I had to return it to the other store how ridiculous is that... It's the same company. It's not like they are independently owned, and operated these corporate stores ... So I guess this will be the last time I'll be coming here once I return the bottles to the Almaden store... I recommend you do the same maybe they'll learn that customer service is King... Had an online order for a nonalcoholic drink and I had my sister with me. We both went into the store and shopped for the order then headed to the cashier. The cashier did not want to sell me the nonalcoholic drink because my sister did not have her ID, she wasn't of age anyway. I had my ID and gave them my ID but no, they were consistent on my little sister to be 21. I was under the impression that it was fine since Total wine & More's POLICY OF AGE in quote was "Total Wine & More requires that all individuals 21 and under be accompanied by an adult guardian of legal drinking age". I've never had a problem when doing alcoholic orders with my little sister when she wanted to join me because she was being accompanied by me, a guardian of legal drinking age. The staff is SO nice here, every time I walk in I am greeted and asked if I need help with any recommendations or trying out a new wine. Highly recommend going here especially during off hours on an early weekday to avoid a lot of people. Great selection as well. Beware of placing orders online. I ordered 3 bottles and received 2. It was very intentional that I ordered 2 bottles of one wine at a discounted price and a 3rd of a different type. The order apparently processed with 2 total bottles and no notice to me of a change. The store could not help and referred me to customer service who was actually incredibly rude to me. I have visited the Santa Clara store on Lawrence/Stevens Creek multiple times. One of the most popular beers, "Heineken" I find they never have cold Heineken available. I've asked the managers literally over 6 different times if they can add some Heineken to their refridgerators. Every time, they say "Sure no problem" but I have yet to find it. I would agree with others, their customer service is terrible. I won't be going back. It's funny that a huge alcohol super store cannot even have basic popular beers available. If I go to 7/11 or a small liquor store it is always cold and ready. Perhaps they should change their name.. Should be Total Wine and remove the (More). They definitely don't have more. read more

Attended the preview party and it was super lively. I was surprised there was a catering and the food were delicious! The live band could be heard through out the store! The layout is fairly similar to other total wine store, reminds me of the mountain view store but this store was smaller. All the shelves are well stocked and organized. Including the premium section as well. I was just at the mountain view store a few days ago, and I was surprised to see there is a pricing difference between the stores, I noticed the price differences on whiskey but most other main stream stuff like beer cost the same.
