This Total Wine location has been my go-to store for the majority of all my wines and liquor. Service and selection have always been good. I'm actual reviewing the "Tasting Events". My friend and I starting signing up for these events Last September. Having been to 3 so far (Bourbon, Whiskey and Spanish Wines)... WE LOVE them! Nothing super fancy, casual atmosphere, very well run and informative and just a couple hours. Our local location was out of some bourbon we wanted for a gathering. They found Gilbert and Scottsdale had 1 each possibly so I gave Scottsdale a call being closer. I asked if they actually had the one and she mentioned yes. She also saw the one in stock in Gilbert. She kindly held it for me. She was sweet and reminded me to drive safe. Drove over 50 minutes in the rain only to find she had held the wrong bottle. Must have lost her track of thought on her way to the bourbon isle. Inventory was off or it was stolen. I am not mad about it, but disappointed. It was a long drive. I still appreciate her intent and kindlness. Total Wine seems to be trained to be a take care of yourself customers and say yes. Even when I got to the location a gentleman looked around for me and online again, seeing the one in Gilbert. All he could do was apologize. Always thoughtful at Total Wine and they go above and beyond. This location is a bit smaller than the newer ones. Still clean and organized. If anyone goes near a checkout they jump right in there to get you checked out. read more

Better than BevMo. The one is San Diego is bigger though and more selection of beer I'd say but maybe because San Diego has a better beer scene. I had many 15% and 20% off coupons on my iPhone, which I activated prior to shopping here. I was able to achieve a 20% discount off my 12 bottles of mixed wine. My total bill was $128 after my 20% discount. I returned here on another day to purchase a 750 ml bottle of Hornitos Reposado tequila for $18.99. We were invited to a family party. I buy the same three vodka brands and sizes, and the same two wines. Total Wine's prices are consistently lower than any of the supermarkets in the area, or from other liquor stores. Also, domestic riesling and gewürztraminer wines aren't that easy to find. Only Total Wines has a decent selection. I'm really happy with the online ordering! You can pick up yourself or have it delivered. Total Wines have a new feature now, so if you want delivery in less than an hour, you can pay $2 more. Otherwise, it takes about two hours. I don't recommend their special picks, I forget what it is called, something like Wine Select and Spirits Select. There are a few coupons and discounts by ordering online, not many. I heard there are more using the app. Haven't tried it yet. read more

I had a hankering for some sake, but I'm not knowledgeable on alcohol. I was able to get help from a worker who explained the various types of sake to me and I was able to make a $20 purchase on something that I ended up enjoying. The two stars are for the selection and for the location. The staff absolutely sucks and they act like it's a burden to even acknowledge customers at all. The guy who was supposed to be running the pick up counter was changing a trashcan and didn't wash his hands afterwards which is really disgusting. And he did that before he would even help anybody at the counter and then tried to make excuses. Nobody really cares about your trashcan or your dinner plans or your socialization, we just wanna get the stuff that we ordered that's paid for. This location really needs to work on its customer engagement especially being in a higher income area where people expect better service. Ironically enough, I never seem to have problems with the other location that I usually go to on 16th and Camelback, that staff is actually fantastic and they're always available and customer focused. read more

For us, she is the most exceptional advisor, and has really changed our wine selections from very good to exceptional. I got a great price on a 24 pack of Modelo Beer. When one line there was a male cashier that was super chatty with a customer and therefore I had to change lines. The line I got on had a customer with a gift card as payment. The cashier acted like he didn't know what to do. She had 63 dollars worth of stuff, the gift card was $50 so she has to pay $63 plus tax. Duh! There is a problem with getting help to lift boxes into your cart. I ended up asking a vendor who was stocking her product to help me and she did. Total Wine staff doesn't seem to be available. This issue has been brought up in other Yelp reviews. They did, however, take my purchase and put it in my car upon my request. Prices are good--that's why I gave them 3 stars. read more

They always have a wide variety of scotch,wine, and beer. But when looking for scotch this is definitely the place to go. My go to scotch is battle hill 18 year+ which can range $150 to $200 but it's totally worth is. Staff is always helpful and are full of detail on the product. read more

I've been to other Total Wine locations and have received excellent customer service but the Scottsdale location was a disappointment. I was in the store looking for a particular Cabernet Sauvignon which I could not find. No one greeted me upon entry and no one asked if they could help me find anything. Towards the end of my search I approached two Male employees speaking with one another to ask for assistance. One if the men acted as if I was interrupting them and my question was a bother. He answered me quite tersely that it was not stocked there and his tone implied that it was swill. No suggestion for a comparable wine was made so I left them to their conversation and left empty handed. I went to Bevmo immediately afterwards and although they didn't the carry the wine I was looking for, I was treated with respect and was given several suggestions for something I might enjoy instead. I am currently enjoying it. The staff here could learn customer service from the employees at Bevmo. I will not return here. There are plenty of other stores I can give my money to. read more

I think the Total Wine in Dallas spoiled me for all other TW's. This location certainly has the great selection and good prices that I've come to love from Total Wine. That said, I thought the store layout was choppy and hard to follow. The staff here is so/so as well - there are staffers around but no offers of help and the cashier clearly hated life. I like this store because it has a wide variety of choices and good prices. I do not like this store because my interactions with people working in the store have been mixed. On one hand, the employees seem trained to ask you if you need help, give you advice, etc. On the other hand, people stocking shelves (maybe not employees??) are positively rude. I have asked a question about the availability of a particular wine and been blown off, spoken to rudely, etc. So the directive to be courteous to customers may not extend to vendors who are in the store. read more

Refused service when purchasing beer because my girlfriend didn't have her ID with her (I was buying). We're new residents, live a few miles from the store, and 32 years old. The cashier at checkout didn't ID any of the 3 customers in front of us because they "looked of age". Discriminate much? I showed them my valid ID and my girlfriend showed a paper copy of hers. The manager came over and said they have a bar license and are treated like a bar, everyone inside has to be 21 like a bar. Meanwhile there's kids running around the store and teenagers shopping with their parents. Operating like a bar Mr. Manager? I returned 20 minutes later alone to buy my beer and was told "that's not how it works, you've already been refused service so you can't return". Don't worry, we wont return. Total incompetence.
