Sorry but this place is a ripoff...way overpriced. In addition, if you don't pay cash they tack on an additional 3.5%. So my 8" chicken salad sandwich came out to $12.17. Not including any chips or a drink. It was a good quality sandwich, that's why I'm giving 3 stars and not less. But def not good enough or large enough for 12 dollars on its own. I guess calling it "Above Average Subs" might be truth in advertising, but it's not that "hook" to drag you off busy Lake Worth Road into this awkwardly east-facing strip mall. Using as my "awesome" standard some epic sub shops like Johnny's in New Orleans, Roast Beast in Boston, or Laspada's, when they keep their sandwich circus of flying meat clean, TAS is probably wicked for Greenacres, but kind of blah otherwise. Here's why: The sandwich lives or dies by the bread. TAS uses Cusano, a killer loaf for putting into a press for a hot panini or a Cubano, but a bit heavy and chewy for your basic sub. It's so weighty that it offsets the wonderfully finely shaved meat and the well balanced cheese. It's like the 14" painting with the huge gaudy gilt frame: Distracting. The other thing that defines the sandwich are the toppings. They have a great variety, but the pickles are overdone, the mayo is bulk commercial and not very tasty, the shredded lettuce seems to be bagged and has that too fine, woody consistency. The "spicy" pepper topping had little pop but a lot of vinegar. The girls who put them together are well meaning and sweet, but they slap and slather like people who are summer hires and don't take a lot of pride in their output. It's a popular local joint, which makes the poor gal cranking on the slicer have to work harder. Speed isn't her thing, which I can appreciate from the art of the slice, but it drags on moving people through. It took me nearly 15 minutes to get through the line. Perhaps investing in a second slicer since it's so busy might be a good thing. Awesome requires a bit more A game. This is a B place, IMHO. read more

They really do have Totally Awesome subs! What ever you order is made with great super fresh ingredients! I ordered a BLT on crusty Italian bread. Mayo on both sides with Ghost Pepper Cheese. Plenty inside with a generous portion distributed, to guarantee a bite of all of the ingredients in each bite down to the last one. Around the corner and has become a "go to place" for great subs and or salads! read more

I'm keeping this review short, sweet and to the point. There's not much to break down when writing about a classic sub shop. There's a few key pieces that need to be done right. The bread, the meat and the specials. Minus some exclusive, knockout bread, Totally Awesome Subs is the mom and pop sub shop every neighborhood had but that is slowly disappearing in many places. The ambience is super cool. Pictures, rock posters and upbeat, positive messages spread about. But it's all about the subs. The bread is soft. I would prefer a hard, sesame option but few sub shops down here in south florida offer that. Only a few come to mind (V&S in Boca Raton ;). But what Totaaly Awesome does have is good quality cold cuts, nice size portions, plenty of toppings and some really good weekly specials. Just bring cash as you'll save 3.5% off a processing card fee or something like that. What else can I say. It's a sub shop worth visiting for lunch. read more

I note the owners responses to several negative reviews. Feedback is worth paying attention to. Failure to respond to feedback to correct the situation is a poor indicator of poor customer service. The best subs in the area. Yeah, they do not scam when it comes to putting anything meats or accompaniments on it. There is inside dining.

We found this gem close by to the Fountains Golf Club in Lake Worth. We were their first customer of the day and were greeted by very friendly staff. I ordered a turkey sub with Provolone cheese. I like that they shave the turkey and slice the cheese very thin! I added mayo, shredded lettuce, banana peppers, onions, pepper and vinegar & oil. The bread was very soft!!! I'm a sucker for grape drink so of course I had to have it and they carry Voodoo chips which are my favorite! I enjoyed the rock and roll decor (at least they kept it consistent!) and the Felix the Cat clock on the wall. If in the area and craving a good sub, we will be back for sure . read more

I have been Dying to try this place after reading the reviews on Yelp!! It's a bit of a drive since I live in Royal Palm Beach and this is in Greenacres, but so Totally worth it!!! Not only was my sandwich, the Jennifury exactly what I expected plus some, the place was clean and the staff was friendly!!! My son had a Cuban sandwich and we shared some mozzarella sticks! At least I have tried to order that. Today I got cheese and evidently, they feel that cheese belongs on the bottom next to the bread. When you ask for "a little" of something that may be spicy, it seems the maker would put a little then ask, "how's that?" My sandwich maker put a medium amount of crushed chilis on my sub even though I asked her to use half of what she had on the spoon. She used it all. Hey, I'm standing right there watching and trying to let you know what I'd like! Maybe listen? Anyway, this is a good sub shop. I like it. The breads are fresh but just "ok" to me, but I'm sure others love the breads. It just seems like I'd have to eat here at least once a week before they'd get my sandwich right. Yet, Subway nails it almost every time! Still, I only go to subway for a veggie sub as a last resort. The only non franchise sub place in the area, so they have that. People are really nice and never really busy. They have some original options, which is always appealing to me. I've enjoyed my search for delicious subs thus far. I've been here a couple times & it's obvious that I've become a creature of habit. A monster on wheat + bacon, lettuce, tomato, extra pickles, banana peppers, mayo, salt & pepper, oil & vinegar. The restaurant & bathrooms are super clean, and the staff is cool. The sandwiches are made right in front of you and everything is fresh.. Even the deli meat is sliced to order! Ok so last time I was here I had the Super, a cold Italian sub which was very good. Thought this time is try a hot sub...so I went with the Meatball Pepperoni, Provolone cheese added of course. (Photo Taken). Dang! Looks good! Ok...first off...a meatball sub should be HOT...a warm sandwich at the least...the bread and the insides were cold..bad bad bad. Meatballs were wayy to big to make a sandwich out of...I have a HUGE bite and I couldn't put a dent into this sub without it falling apart. SUB PHYSICS 101 - IF you are going to have a saucy slippery substance like meatballs in a sub, the meatballs have to be against the bread of the inside of the sub. If you add cheese (or pepperoni too), the lunch meats have to be on e one side and NOT across the WHOLE inside of the sub (they do this because they slice the lunch meats right on the bread and then add the meatballs.) If you do that what you have done is create the perfect slip-n-slide (because the meatbals have no friction against the inside of the bread) for your meatballs to slide right out as soon as you take your first bite. None the less, it was a sloppy sloppy mess. Thank God this establishment (unlike many sandwich places) keeps every napkin holder on EVERY table full to the hilt! I had to remove the meatballs and eat them separately from the sandwich. All in all an OK sub..but as I said in my prior review...REAL subs require HARD BREAD....or at the very least offer both. read more

The BEST OF THE BEST! Come to eat here without question if you want to have a filling, delicious sub. You can't go wrong with soft bread, fresh cold cuts, variety on the menu (yes u have options), and a great selection of chips that aren't your boring traditional brands that every other "sub shop" has. The place is clean! I've never had to wipe a table, a chair or my tray. My only warning is you may pick a favorite and have that each time you visit lol ;P My favorite is the pressed Cuban as is on wheat (pictured). I visited the restaurant after finding it online. When I walked in the staff was friendly and welcomed me right away. I ordered a roast beef sandwich and It was spectacular. They were also friendly enough to give me a medium cup to try their homemade grape juice. The sub has an authentic taste, and the slice the meat fresh for you. In a world where it's hard to find quality food, I have found my safe haven of quality food. I recommend the visit!!! Only recommendation to the restaurant: I am 5'10 and found it difficult to look at the ingredients for my sandwiches because of the hot sauces in my view. See you again! read more
