I lunched Gourmet Deli House on Friday and thankfully it was not too busy. We were seated immediately at a table near their bussing cart and kitchen which was a little loud but it was nice to see the rolling carts coming from the kitchen with everything that was ordered. The Lobster Salad Melt was definitely a popular choice. My husband thought the menu was huge and had so many things we wanted so we decided that we had to order the Whitefish Salad with Rye Bread and a Turkey Reuben. The complimentary added pickles made the meal perfect. Our server, Tyra, was great! She had a great attitude and made sure that we had everything we needed right down to the take home containers for our leftovers since the portions are so big. Everything we ordered was delicious and I was a little skeptical when I looked at the ingedients because it seemed like there was a lot of colorful fillers in the whitefish (and all their salads that are scooped) but it worked to give an added flavor but not over powering the fish flavor. The restaurant was clean and definitely could tell that it had been around for a long time. It has been years since I stopped in for lunch here and today we went with the half sandwich and soup. Pea soup was very good.. they were out of croutons which was a little disappointing. the sandwich meat (Pastrami) seemed to have shrank a little but still ample for a half sandwich I really wanted to try the Rachael but to much food for today. This restaurant consistently messes up orders and treats customers with complete disrespect. I've ordered from them multiple times via DoorDash, and almost every single order has been wrong. Today was no exception. I specifically ordered a plain bagel with cream cheese and carefully selected "no lettuce, tomatoes, or onion" on the app. They still added all the unwanted toppings. When I called to speak with a manager about the mistake, the woman who answered was extremely rude. She constantly interrupted me, refused to let me finish a sentence, and then hung up on me. I called back immediately, and the man who answered refused to give me the manager's name before hanging up on me as well. This is not acceptable. You should not have to pay good money for incorrect orders followed by rude, dismissive treatment from management. I contacted DoorDash and received a full refund, but that doesn't change the fact that this place has terrible quality control and even worse customer service. Bottom line: Avoid this restaurant entirely. There are far better options out there that actually care about getting your order right and treating customers with basic respect. I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. We were leaving the Ninja Kidz and had a 40+ minute drive and needed food for the family before we got too far. This was one of the closest restaurants and the food was fantastic, Tyra our server was very pleasant and helpful. I felt that we more than received the value for the price. Not only was my Rueben a great size, but it came with fries and coleslaw and pickles to share. Kids also had kids meals with drink and cookie. Everything came out quickly and was delicious. Great ambiance as well. If you're looking for a quality NY deli in Boynton, I'd recommend it. We may just travel 40 minutes to eat here next time. read more

While Gourmet Deli doesn't measure up to the legends, it does stand up on its own against the other Delis in Southern Florida. Stopped in for a lunch and decided to have the Soup and half deli sandwich special. My choice for soup was today's Cabbage soup. A tomato base broth with lots of tender and flavorful cabbage. My sandwich was a Pastrami on Rye. Lots a good Pastrami piled on soft Rye bread. Yellow or brown mustard options. Our server was attentative and keeping up with his assigned tables. Sometimes when you're hungry, you do dumb things. Like today... I decided to drive around and find someplace I'd never been to, and give it a try. That was where things went wrong... In an out of the way corner of a shopping center, I found Gourmet Deli House and decided to give it a shot. Walking in I found myself in a typical deli lobby, meats, salads, pastries, and pickles galore. They all looked good, but I was here to sit down and be fed. I walked through and found the "please wait to be seated" sign, so I did. No ambiance to speak of here, tables and chairs, paper napkins wrapped around a fork and knife. Seems like the perfect deli!! I was introduced to the lovely and helpful Geralyn, who showed me the menu, and explained the specials. I ordered my favorite soda, Cel-Ray, and then it was time to order. "Everything is amazing!" That's what I was told, sadly, that was not true. Very not true... - Prime rib, not able to be ordered rare, requested it medium rare, got it medium well. Needed a steak knife to saw through it, and considered borrowing another diner's dentures to try and chew through it. Tasteless, no seasoning. Requested horseradish and got some sauce, milky thin and vaguely tasting of horseradish. Do better Deli House... - Cucumber Salad, not pickled at all. It was basically raw cucumbers in sugar water. - Kasha Varnishkas was looked good, but was tasteless, no schmaltz or stock flavor, served room temp, with overcooked noodles clumping together. I was offered dessert but didn't have it in me to make a bad meal worse. Upon asking for the check I was told to make sure I tipped in cash, as apparently the house takes 2 weeks to process and pay out credit card tips. read more

The staff at the Gourmet Deli House are very helpful and courteous, which made for a welcoming atmosphere. I ordered the turkey avocado wrap--it was okay, though a bit on the dry side. I originally wanted pancakes, but was told breakfast is not served after 12 PM. It was 12:05 PM, so I found it a little surprising that the kitchen couldn't make an exception, especially for something as simple as pancakes. The restaurant itself has a classic deli/diner setup--functional but nothing particularly fancy or unique. Overall, it was a pretty average experience. Went out for dinner with the fam. This place has the vibe of a old school long island deli . Geralyn was our server. She told us about the specials and was really trying to push them. She was kind enough to give me a sample of the lobster salad. Unfortunately I wasn't a fan. Out of everything we ordered, I would say the pierogis were my favorite, crispy on one side, chewy, on the other with sauteed onions.And sour cream. My dad and I ordered the pastrami sandwich, which we both thought was a little dry and the side potato salad did not taste home made.My niece ordered the stuffed cabbage which I tried, and I thought was good. Not sure where to start, so let's go with I was not super impressed. The food - very good. My daughter and I both got omelets. Both were yummy. Both were very full of good quality ingredients and were well cooked. I got the meat lovers and my daughter had the hangover omelets. The bread (challah) was very good, according to my daughter. My daughter also got some Ruggelach for a little sweet treat and she enjoyed them very much. She got the chef's choice of six and liked them all. She said they appeared to be house made and were delicious. We also got a pound of chicken salad and a pound of egg salad (I'll explain more in a bit). Both were very good. Now for the bad/good...the service. We went here because I was sent a birthday coupon. Their online ordering system would not allow me to use it. I ended up placing the order by mistake, while I was attempting to figure out the issue. So, I figured I would go out, get the food, and talk to them about the issue. The lady at the front counter was delightful. Her name was Heidi and she was super helpful and tried her best to figure it out. She also got her manager involved. The manager seemed less concerned about the issue and trying to solve it, and even though we were there for another 15-20 minutes, never addressed it again. I am not the type of person to get upset or angry, so I just placed an in-person order (the two salads) and used the coupon for that. That took longer than it should have to accomplish due to their technology (certainly appears to be an ongoing theme). So, I spent $25 more than I expected to spend to use my $20 birthday gift...LOL! Once we got all the way back home, I made the drive out from East Boynton Beach - 35 minutes away, we discovered that both of our meals were missing their sides. I am now trying to decide whether it is worth it to call them and ask them to fix it. I am certain I will not like the answer. Sadly, I cannot give a good recommendation for this place. The food here is decent. The people working here are VERY confused. We ordered twice from here in five days. Both times, the person taking our order needed lots of explanation to understand what we wanted. And we weren't asking for anything crazy. Simple things like no onions on a salad were too much to grasp. And to be clear, this wasn't a language barrier issue. And then - both times - they gave us a completely wrong order. Very weird. The front of the deli is a little Tucked away from the main road. There is plenty of parking. The staff are so friendly. It almost feels like you're eating at a families home. Julie our server was delightful. She was just so warm and friendly. I felt like I have known her for years!!! Our meals was delicious. The reason for four stars is because I thought it was a little pricey. I wanted an omelet but just could not pay $16. So I opted for eggs grits and a bagel. They were prepared perfectly. My husband ordered a corn beef sandwich. Nice and lean. For dessert we ordered the crumb cake. It looked so good! It was dry and served cold out of the fridge. Lacked taste. We were here six months ago finding crushing changes ( new ownership) to seasoning, flavor. SO DEPRESSED! Today six months later I came to give another hopeful chance.... We found out later they had the AC fixed the day before, no electricity for a while. My husband and his sister wolfed down the chopped liver- - found it still tasteless completely bland, but they were starving. Then I ate it, found it sour told them to stop eating it. That evening husband was vomiting super ill all night, his sister stomach ill all night too. They later said the chopped liver was not cold, room temp. We ordered the Rachel pastrami Ruben again. Pastrami nice texture great cut of meat but zero flavor.... Then we ate the nova spread - - that was excellent, also room temperature, not cold. The apricot, raspberry, chocolate and cinnamon nut ruggalah were ok but a #3 in flavor. We also ordered sliced pastrami, 1/2 a rye bread (excellent), half sour pickles ( always great), potato and kasha knishes ( #3) total $90 before tip. I called the next day to politely gently inform the owner of the chopped liver spoilage and the room temp nova spread. In a shrill voice she denied that the nova could possibly also be bad. Zero apology. Zero graciousness. Instead saying TWO times that we must return the chopped liver $8.95 for a replacement!! May I ask why you are selling food after electricity was off for " a day"? ... Nope. Three tries in 18 months.... LOVE ADORE the old fabulous waiters ( UGH!!!) ...but no more chances. read more

These place has been around for 40 years! I have ordered takeout and dine in hundreds of time. When the ex-convict ran it it was great. It has gone done badly-not the quality of the food but the prices are insane. They charge for extra slices of tomato, extra cheese, extra bread!!! By the time you leave a sandwich is 28 dollars!! Today, I go in and order 2 small apps. a stuffed tomato with chicken salad and a lobster scoop with side of bread. I POINTED to the lobster app on the menu twice for the young man with black curly hair who looked about 18! Twice!! Then, I wait. 2 minutes later he tells an older employee I want a chef salad. What a lucky find! All I wanted was a bagel to go but, when we saw the menu, we had to stop. My pal got a potato knish and three kinds of rugalach! Big yum!! Ordered a sugar free turnover; they wrote a note on the bag that they were out of the sugar free but took it upon themselves to give me a regular turnover! Had dinner tonight. Pastrami sandwich tasted worse than what I could get at the Publix deli counter. Left half my sandwich on the plate. And didn't even come with a pickle. For $20???? Had to give it a try after seeing so many positive reviews. I doubt anyone who rated this place "good" ever ate in a real NY deli, or maybe the clientele is so old they don't even remember what good pastrami and corned beef tastes like. I was visiting a family member in the Lake Worth area and we were looking for a place which offered both breakfast and lunch on a Sunday around noon-ish. Well we landed at the right place. Gourmet deli house was perfect! We scoured through both the breakfast and lunch menus and I must say it was very difficult to decide, especially when other tables were getting their dishes which looked and smelled delicious. We felt bad for Julie our waitress she was so patient with us as we continued to debate on which dish to order. Thank you again Julie for being to patient and polite. Once we decided we surprisingly got our order quickly and it was wonderful. My BLT was perfect, I did not leave a bite! My cousin ordered the Lobster salad on a croissant. We enjoyed the live entertainment while we enjoyed our meal. Bill is there every Sunday and I must admit I have never heard of live entertainment so early in the day but it was so relaxing. I am definitely going back to The Gourmet Deli House on a Sunday to enjoy Bill singing and the magnificent food. I did bring home a box of Rugelach and cookies, unfortunately a box was not enough for two hungry men with a sweet tooth at home. Let me start by saying we have been going here for a few years for breakfast and have no issues. However, we have decided to try it once for dinner. What a mistake. It was during the week and it was busy, then again the majority of the clientele are seniors who are retired so there is no weekday or weekend for them. The place was crowded and we waited a few minutes to get seated. However, once seated is when the issues started. It took a long time for our order to be taken. In fact, my husband had to go looking for a waitress. I noticed that other tables were either waiting for a long period of time for giving an order, receiving an order, and also waiting a long time for the check. We definitely contemplated leaving, but we decided we were already there to give us a try. We finally gave our order both of us ordered entrées, and I ordered a soup and my husband ordered a salad. Once again, everything took a long time to get the soup and salad and we were watching the same issue going on at every other table. In fact, it didn't seem like there was one table that was happy with the service. There were only two waiters for the entire restaurant and they definitely needed to be more. We finally got the soup and salad. My husband had to wait even longer for the salad dressing and my soup was cold. I couldn't even say anything about the cold soup because I couldn't get anyone's attention. My entrée was also cold and my husband's was just awful. They did take off the charge of my husband's entrée, even though he didn't ask when it was noticed that he didn't eat it. I only ate my cold entree because I was just hungry and for no other reason. I asked the waitress if the issue was that a waiter had called in sick and she said no it was just that everybody came at the same time. Well, this is a restaurant catering to seniors and seniors usually go out to dinner between 5 and 6 PM. They do not go out to dinner at 8 or 9 pm. Stick to breakfast. Being an ex New Yorker I know a good deli when I find one. The food was extremely mediocre. My wife and I ordered 2 bowls of Matzoh Ball soups. The Matzoh ball were excellent. Light and fluffy but the chicken soup was a little bland. Then we ordered their pastrami sandwich. Bread was pretty good but the pastrami was served lukewarm almost coolish. Service was good and portions were typical deli, huge. On our way out I noticed that one of the customers had ordered stuffed cabbage. It looked good and a very big portion. There is a way better deli about 30 minutes south from us. The one I am reviewing is 2 miles from our house. I will still drive 30 minutes south to the other deli in Delray Beach. Mustard was Guildens. Why not serve better deli mustard. read more
