I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. We were leaving the Ninja Kidz and had a 40+ minute drive and needed food for the family before we got too far. This was one of the closest restaurants and the food was fantastic, Tyra our server was very pleasant and helpful. I felt that we more than received the value for the price. Not only was my Rueben a great size, but it came with fries and coleslaw and pickles to share. Kids also had kids meals with drink and cookie. Everything came out quickly and was delicious. Great ambiance as well. If you're looking for a quality NY deli in Boynton, I'd recommend it. We may just travel 40 minutes to eat here next time.

I've been to some of New York's and Los Angeles' best Jewish style delis including, the 2nd Avenue Deli (when 'ole Abe was still alive), Carnegie, Langer's et al. While Gourmet Deli doesn't measure up to the legends, it does stand up on its own against the other Delis in Southern Florida. Today I was jonesing brisket on rye and that is precisely what I had: it was very good and the bread was exceptional. I shall retune to try the pastrami.

The Gourmet Deli has been a stable anchor in this small strip plaza for quite a while. In a convenient plaza, there's plenty of easily accessible parking near the front. Stopped in for a lunch and decided to have the Soup and half deli sandwich special. My choice for soup was today's Cabbage soup. A tomato base broth with lots of tender and flavorful cabbage. My sandwich was a Pastrami on Rye. Lots a good Pastrami piled on soft Rye bread. Yellow or brown mustard options. Our server was attentative and keeping up with his assigned tables. A popular place with familiar faces enjoying their meals. Today there was live music playing classic hits.

Always great food and service. Geralyn steered me to the last piece of prime rib and it was a huge slab of tasty meat. Yum. No room for dessert.

Excellent service, super clean and the food is scrumptious! Going to get some bakery items to go. It smells amazing in here!

Sometimes when you're hungry, you do dumb things. Like today... I decided to drive around and find someplace I'd never been to, and give it a try. That was where things went wrong... In an out of the way corner of a shopping center, I found Gourmet Deli House and decided to give it a shot. Walking in I found myself in a typical deli lobby, meats, salads, pastries, and pickles galore. They all looked good, but I was here to sit down and be fed. I walked through and found the "please wait to be seated" sign, so I did. No ambiance to speak of here, tables and chairs, paper napkins wrapped around a fork and knife. Seems like the perfect deli!! I was introduced to the lovely and helpful Geralyn, who showed me the menu, and explained the specials. I ordered my favorite soda, Cel-Ray, and then it was time to order. "Everything is amazing!" That's what I was told, sadly, that was not true. Very not true... - Prime rib, not able to be ordered rare, requested it medium rare, got it medium well. Needed a steak knife to saw through it, and considered borrowing another diner's dentures to try and chew through it. Tasteless, no seasoning. Requested horseradish and got some sauce, milky thin and vaguely tasting of horseradish. Do better Deli House... - Cucumber Salad, not pickled at all. It was basically raw cucumbers in sugar water. - Kasha Varnishkas was looked good, but was tasteless, no schmaltz or stock flavor, served room temp, with overcooked noodles clumping together. I was offered dessert but didn't have it in me to make a bad meal worse. Upon asking for the check I was told to make sure I tipped in cash, as apparently the house takes 2 weeks to process and pay out credit card tips.

Went out for dinner with the fam. This place has the vibe of a old school long island deli . Geralyn was our server. She told us about the specials and was really trying to push them. She was kind enough to give me a sample of the lobster salad. Unfortunately I wasn't a fan. Out of everything we ordered, I would say the pierogis were my favorite, crispy on one side, chewy, on the other with sauteed onions. And sour cream. My dad and I ordered the pastrami sandwich, which we both thought was a little dry and the side potato salad did not taste home made.My niece ordered the stuffed cabbage which I tried, and I thought was good. My friend ordered the beef stroganoff off the specials menu, which I didn't try.But she told me was very good. Also, grab some rugelach to go, which are always on point.

The front of the deli is a little Tucked away from the main road. There is plenty of parking. The staff are so friendly. It almost feels like you're eating at a families home. Julie our server was delightful. She was just so warm and friendly. I felt like I have known her for years!!! Our meals was delicious. The reason for four stars is because I thought it was a little pricey. I wanted an omelet but just could not pay $16. So I opted for eggs grits and a bagel. They were prepared perfectly. My husband ordered a corn beef sandwich. Nice and lean. For dessert we ordered the crumb cake. It looked so good! It was dry and served cold out of the fridge. Lacked taste. Otherwise the desserts in the case looked good. Check my pictures.

I was pleasantly surprised that the terrible smell that had smacked me on the face upon opening the entrance door was finally gone. The hostess sat us at a table and took our drink order. I asked if I could get the pastrami with cheese on a croissant as the bread was toasted too hard my last visit. I also opted for onion rings as my side. I was delighted with the look of my plate when it arrived. Pastrami looked and tasted absolutely perfect on the light and fluffy croissant. I even got a side of Russian dressing to add a hint of spice to everything. Toojays has certainly redeemed themselves in my eyes and I look forward to my next visit.

I decided to get matzah ball soup and half a corned beef sandwich on rye. The soup was very good. And it was served first, and was hot in a small bowl. My husband really liked his beef cabbage soup, too. My sandwich, however, was awful. The bread was decent, but the meat tasted so processed -- like baloney. After we pointed it out, the manager told me it had been cut wrong (with the grain). He cut some more corned beef "correctly" and brought it back. It still wasn't very good. Slightly better, but I told my husband it could have been canned ham. The manager said they changed suppliers a few years back. I think they need to change again. My husband's chopped liver was a much better choice. It came with lettuce and tomato. Oh, and of the sides, I liked the red bliss potato salad better than their coleslaw -- which had a lot of mayo in it. Bottom line -- come for breakfast or deli, but skip the corned beef.

No worries, however, as almost everything has been kept the same with a few new menu additions. The restaurant is south of Lake Avenue on the east side of J street. There's parking out front. The restaurant is small. They do a lot of takeout and pickup. But there are two 2-top tables inside plus a counter with a few seats should you wish to "dine in" as we did. And there two-top table outside, as well. The two guys working when we came for lunch were both so very nice. And personable. I got a traditional 8 inch sub sandwich with one meat and one cheese. I selected salami and provolone and spicy brown mustard. I added lettuce, green peppers, and cucumbers. And got pickles on the side. My husband chose the 12 inch sub with two meats and a cheese. He selected roast beef and prosciutto plus cheddar. He added tomatoes and onions. He tried their spicy contraband sauce and liked it, too. He brought half his sub home for dinner. They offer many specials and combos, including a special sub of the day. There are so many way they can customize your choices. They also have a soup of the day. The corn and shrimp chowder offered on the weekends sounds appealing. We know we will be back when next craving a sub.

I just want to touch base about my most recent visit to Lenora's. I've been to this location about three times. This is the location on Dixie Highway. They have open air seating, which is really nice on most evenings. This particular evening we arrived about 30 minutes before they were scheduled to close more like 35 minutes before they were scheduled to close at 10 PM. It was a Friday night. We ordered a pizza and the rigatoni with mushrooms and cream sauce and I wanted to add a piece of salmon to it. After we sat down, my boyfriend's pizza came out in about seven minutes maximum. It was piping hot. The cheese was kind of sloppy and all over the place. It didn't really look like it was made with love. But he said it was good. My food however, took about 20 to 25 minutes longer than his pizza did. He was done eating his entire pizza before my food came out. That's never a good situation. They could've at least warned us of that, or let us know that that would be the case if they didn't realize it until they started making the food. There were only two other tables there. Once my food did come out, the salmon that I added for protein was almost $15. Obscene! I could get almost 3 pounds of salmon for that amount. It was maybe a 6 ounce piece maybe. And when they brought it out, it was raw in the middle. So I had to send it back and that was not met with a positive attitude, even though we brought up the issue with a very positive attitude despite having to wait almost 30 minutes for me to even get my food after my boyfriend had finished his pizza. They brought the salmon back and when they returned it, the employee was very pleasant and asked if I wanted to check it first. I ended up eating half of the pasta and packing the rest up to take home because by this time it was a few minutes after 10 o'clock and we didn't want to sit there as the only table left when we knew that they were obviously ready for closing time. One thing I must say is that I think divine intervention kept me in a great mood because they played my favorite journey song, they played my favorite song of all time, which is Tears for Fears. Everybody wants to rule the world, and then they played Bob Seger, who is definitely the artist who would've been my boyfriend or at least my celebrity crush had I've been born a few years earlier. Anyway, that's me giving it to you Straight No Chaser. Enjoy!
