The beach is great to hang out on, great views from the room, bike rides (comp bikes), kids went swimming, s'mores in the evening. They're renovating their main restaurant and Packer's is also closed for the season but we enjoyed dinner (great burgers, ahi poke bowl) and breakfast at their cafe (avocado toast, breakfast sandwich, huge griddle cake). She's so smart and knowledgeable! L&L Bakery is a quaint, cute, clean, bright place with appropriate decor, efficient, polite service, and delicious, beautiful food! We had a matcha latte and a generous slice of quiche. It was the perfect breakfast before the drive to Vancouver! Thank you, Laura, for a wonderful experience! But I let my family member have it since it was going to go to waste. The worker said they were going to charge me for the accidental cone if the other person ate. So either throw it away and they'll take it off the bill or eat it (they weren't going to order soft serve to start) and be charged. So we tossed it because my family member wasn't gonna eat all of it anyways. Either way, a weird back and forth encounter!

(twentyseven/thirty)…read more Ah, my good ol' neighborhood corner store. How I miss you, Red Rooster. Just your average convenience store, with candy and chips and cigarettes to spare. For me, corner stores like this get a 'yay' or 'nay' based on the quality and selection of their bulk candies. In that sense, Red Rooster did well. At least they did when I frequented them, although it's been many a'moon since I've called White Rock home. I also found that they stocked Haagan Dasz Rocky Road icecream, which is not only the most delicious icecream ever, but it's also near impossible to find at any of the grocery stores in White Rock. Chocolate, nuts, marshmallows - what could be better? This one also doubles as a video store, which I think is just odd. Lucky day for me, because Red Rooster is a fare dealer as well, so I was always able to get my bus pass the day I REALLY needed it without having to haul my sorry self all the way uptown. They close up shop around 10pm or so, and after that you have to walk up to the 24 hour Mac's on the highway. Boo.
