We stayed at Semiahmoo Resort, and had breakfast at Packers Kitchen & Bar. It's on the water, with great views over the water. We were seated immediately even without a reservation. As we were being let to our table the host told us everyone was out on the deck as they had spotted whales. We went out immediately and were able to spot 4 whales. It was an exciting start to our day. We got the PNW Farmers Omelet, Dutch Baby, Hot Chocolate and Mocha. We liked both the Omelet and the Dutch Baby. We tried the seafood platter, three selections of seafood salads (out of oysters) shrimp ceviche was not ceviche at all, salmon tar tar was incredibly fishy and not good, ahi was ok but not excellent with walnuts, strange choice. Curry was not curry and bland. The best component of the halibut nicoise were the anchovies. Somehow the fish was destroyed, dense and flavorless and vegetable choices were overcooked and under seasoned. Incredibly overpriced and under quality dishes. read more

We stopped into Packers hoping for a relaxing glass of vino... and ended up with a patience test instead. After 20 minutes, we noticed our wine just sitting on the bar -- the bartender had vanished. Eventually, we asked a server if we could please get our drinks. Another couple just walked up and grabbed their beers themselves (smart move, honestly). We ordered a meat & cheese platter and waited... and waited. Over 30 minutes later, still nothing -- meanwhile, other tables were getting full-on meals: burgers, chicken, pizza. We gave up, paid for our wine, and left. No charcuterie dreams fulfilled. We did get a discount for the delay, so at least there's that. But no tip this time -- earn it next round, folks. read more

Eating lunch here was a terrible ending to an otherwise wonderful stay at Semiahmoo. Service was insanely slow. And it wasn't even that busy. Our soup appetizers came out before our first cocktails. The bartender had to bring them out, as they'd been sitting a while. And she also brought us water. Took forever for our meals (sandwich and burger). Truly one of the worst burgers I've had. I ended up feeding the rest to our dog, as I couldn't handle another bite. They also forgot our fries! Anytime we tried to get someone's attention, we were ignored. No offer to get us another beverage. We sat around for a long time after we were done. I was finally so fed up with everything that I went inside to ask for our bill and pay it on the spot. I was thinking they'd be slammed inside (we were sitting on 3/4 full patio), but it wasn't even busy inside either! Giving 2 stars inside of 1 simply because of the nice ambiance outdoor and indoor, and the soup was good. But whoever is managing this restaurant needs to be fired immediately. They clearly have no idea what they are doing. Our stay at Semiahmoo was otherwise great until we checked out and had lunch here. Seafood chowder and fish and chips were very tasty. As the other reviews mentioned, service was not good. The hostess told us 20 minutes, which turned into an hour and a half! Food is fantastic but they get overwhelmed on busy weekends. We came on memorial weekend and enjoyed our stay at Semiahmoo. In fact, we were surprised that the food was as good as it was. We had most of our meals there for our stay so we had a chance to try breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All of it tasted delicious. Wait was long but worth it. I would definitely recommend the restaurant as well as the resort itself. Just know that they get busy because it's the only major restaurant onsite. There is also a coffee shop and gift shop that sells food but not full meals. Staff was attentive and friendly. I want to give them a 5 so bad but the wait was serious. It pains me to leave such a low rated review but it has to be done. Semiahmoo Resort has but one option as far as restaurants go. You'd think they would really knock this out of the park but it is quite the opposite. The menu is limited, but offers decent options, so that is fine. The food comes out sooo sooo slow, staggered, burnt, missing parts and sub par at best. Breakfast is typically a little easier of a meal to prepare, but they were out of so much when we stayed there over Memorial Day weekend. We tried a couple meals and decided on the BBQ after those, which understandably became sold out. All the hotel guests were all thinking the same thing. All I can say is it's horribly over priced and inconsistent, and if you can get off the property, head to Bellingham for some decent options. It's a beautiful space. We've been coming to Semiahmoo for 20 years and because of this last experience at Packer's will be finding another resort to enjoy our family gatherings at. My hope is they will make some drastic changes to try and recoup people's faith but it's been down hill for a few years now so not sure they realize there is a problem. I will say it was a busy weekend and we were a large group, so maybe that plays a role, but large groups is typical for a resort this size. They should be able to handle this. Everyone's "low point" of our reunion was Packer's. Sigh. Just wish and so wanted it to have been so much better. read more

The fact that the vegetable mix was also completely unseasoned is unimportant because it, too, was was inedible and cooked to mush. The service was ok until the "meal" was served and then POOF: no service. We had to beg for a refills, and much later the check. The cost reflected quality fine dining, but was far too much for the garbage we were served. Very disappointed. Edit: made the mistake of going back for breakfast. (Kind of a captive audience here: there's not much else in the area.) They were not busy, zero wait time for a table. Culotte steak was blue in the center and completely unseasoned. Is there no salt in this kitchen? The server was kind, but inattentive and absent. Two "manager" types lurking in the corner and not helping the staff didn't add anything positive to the experience. My wife and I went to Packers on our couple get away for dinner this July. We stayed at the resort and thought this would be a good option. Lets start with the good: The food itself was pretty good. The Salmon and Oysters were my personal favorite. The view of the water was really good from our table (more on that later). Generally speaking, for a casual dining experience, this is an acceptable option. The Cons? Well back to that water view. We were sold on this place as a fancy dining experience. It was more casual franchise dinner vibe. In fact , we had a reservation but the non reservation area near the bar seemed to be a nicer , classy experience. At first, we thought we were in the wrong restaurant when we were first led to our table. The service was slow. I mean really really slow. There was a wedding and another private event happening that night. I'm thinking maybe they had workers from Packers helping out there and the kitchen was taking those orders too? I really don't know but there's has to be a good explanation and I'll take that over just being poor service. I bet this place might be a really good lunch spot for the family parties out there who want a good water view. However, if you're on a "adult date night" for dinner and searching for fine dining then you'll probably give this a 3 out of 5 stars experience (Ok- not bad, not great but ok). read more

We arrived to the restaurant and were told the wait time was 15 minutes for inside, and 30 for outside. We requested inside. We waited, watch as groups of people checked in with the same hostess. We watched as 5 groups who arrived behind us were taken to their tables. We were the last ones remaining to be seated. When we questioned why we were still waiting. The hostess ask for the name we give it to her, the response we was "Your waiting for outdoor seating". We said no we requested indoors. Besides if that was the case then why were 3 groups seated outside ahead of us? Finally we were seated. I noticed that over half the restaurant tables were empty. The service was lacking. We waited 15 minutes before we received a glass of water. Once we ordered and were eating we needed salt and pepper. Not once did the waitress stopped by to see if we needed anything. The manager walked by several times. I watched as she would walk through the bar area to avoid us. Not once did she inquire if we were satisfied or needed anything. The fish and chips were crispy but lacked any seasoning making the fish tasteless. And an absolutely a waste of money. The price for a lunch fish and chips was ridiculously high. We had a great dinner date tonight at Packers. I almost canceled our reservation after reading some of the bad reviews; I'm glad I didn't! We shared the fish and chips, Caesar salad, and the fresh potato chips as an appetizer with our drinks. The dressings and sauces were house-made and lovely (I make my own as well, so I'm pretty picky). The fish portions were large and very fresh. The fries were great. The Caesar was refreshing, not heavy, and the lettuce was very fresh. Even the lemon wedges were fresh and seeds were removed. Our server Kellie was engaging and attentive in the right way, and made a fantastic margarita on the rocks for me; my better half enjoyed a Scotch Ale on tap. I wonder if perhaps people who had a different experience may have had higher expectations, but this was on par with our favorite restaurants in the Seattle/Eastside area (made me think of John Howie's Beardslee Public House). Diners around us seemed happy. We'd come back here if we were staying at Semiahmoo Resort again. read more

We finally made it out here again on a sunny day in August (2021). Our last visit was over 3 years ago. While the views were spectacular, we felt lukewarm about the food back then. On our most recent visit however, we were pretty happy with our food. So, a review update is in order. FOOD My girlfriend and I both ordered the same thing: the mushroom burger. It was the best burger we hadn't had in a while. The patty was juicy, and it tasted like charcoal grilled (it probably was). Also, there's something about their fries, quite addictive. We also shared the Brussels sprouts, which we were lukewarm about. It was good for what it is, but it was not what we expected. The Brussels sprouts were soft, not crispy, buttery, not savory with Balsamic vinegar. SERVICE I had to knock off one star for the service. It was a busy day, but we noticed that many of the wait staff were wandering around almost as if they were confused. Although it's not the end of the world, we had to ask two different waiters to get extra sauce. This is a sit down restaurant with table service. There should be one wait staff assigned to each table and they have to take care of their tables from start to finish. RESERVATION You could walk in, but it gets really busy when the weather is good. So, a reservation is recommended and is easy to make on their website using RESY. PRO TIP If you want to be seated outside on a sunny day, make sure to ask for a table with an umbrella. There are several tables without umbrellas. On a hot summer day, it is most likely unbearable without an umbrella. SUMMARY I think they have everything except for attentive service. We thought the food quality was so much better this time than 3 years ago. We love Semiahmoo and this is one of our favorite places to come for lunch--but really for the view and the ambience. The menu is very, very limited. I get that--post-pandemic, almost every place has a very limited menu. The food is good, but it's pretty much either a $20 salad or a $20 hamburger, unless you want fried food. Their chowder is too busy. Maybe something simpler like just clams without an entire field of potatoes, or an oyster stew. And it would be sporting to put an entree or two on the menu, even if it's just a special to try out. read more

Cannot beat the view! Nicely decorated inside and staff was wonderful. The resort had power outage our first day and Packer's tried to accommodate as best they could the morning after. Breakfast was a hit, pancakes nice and fluffy, avocado toast very flavorful. Lunch was hit and miss. They gave good sized portions for sides due to limited options for the prior power outage. The only bad menu item was the pizza. It was burnt and flavorless. My son who LOVES pizza only had one slice and wouldn't finish it. I had a hibiscus sangria and it was very tasty. I feel like the place would have been a lot busier if they still offered happy hour. It was a gorgeous day and not very busy during our time slot of 4:30-6:00 PM It's frustrating when expectations don't match reality, especially when you've hyped something up to your friends only to find out when we got there that there is no happy hour as their website stated. The food was a bit of a mixed bag--great burger/fries and chowder, but disappointing chicken on the Caesar salad. They prey on their captive audience! Unfortunately we stayed for a couple of days at this resort, and regretted it very quickly after arriving at there restaurant. The staff was very rude and made sure to make you feel unwelcome. We sat a the bar and had to suffer through extremely poor service and listen to the staff complaining about being reprimanded by management prior to there shift. I think the reprimands might have been warranted. The food was mediocre at best but could not make up for the staff. We will not be back! read more

Our overall meal was average at best considering the price point and level of the hotel. To start, it would be nice if they had a printed list of what tap offerings are available. Our server wanted to recite all of them (and did) , but my husband ended up getting up and walking over to where a list was posted since he couldn't remember them all. I enjoyed my wine, but didn't realize until we got the bill the price of my pour, since the menu only listed one price. I appreciate having a 6 or 9 oz. option, but tell me up front. My cioppino ($42) had good flavor and heat in the broth, and a lot of clams, but I could hardly find the cod or salmon that were supposed to be in there along with 3 or 4 shrimp. My husband's 10 oz. Flat Iron steak & frites ($36) ordered medium rare, was very unevenly cooked. The edges had no pink, and what was supposed to be a bernaise sauce seemed to be a cold dish of butter. The fries were at least good. The plating was very uninspired/uninviting as well. We did enjoy the mixed green salad ($11), and that was also the best value. Our service was pleasant if a bit disorganized. There seems to be a lot of walking about without making use of accomplishing something while in the area. Not sure why she removed the bowl for my shells before I was done, either. We were very glad we had decided to bring some take out Mexican from a food truck with us the first night of our stay! We went to Packers Kitchen last weekend and the food for lunch was horrible. First we got six tiny oysters, which we like, but the minuett sauce was warm and usually it has shallots but this one did not. My husband ordered the fish and chips. We are sitting on the bay with gorgeous views of the water and all the boats bringing in fresh fish. Yet, his fish and chips were frozen. I ordered chicken wings. These were the worst anorexic chicken wings! Do not order, ever, these chicken wings were so small, no meat at all, dried up sauce and these to are frozen. Our server couldn't care less about us, never asked how our food was. When he finally showed up, no he was not busy there were literally two tables in the whole restaurant, he could see I only ate one chicken wing And we asked if everything was frozen and he said yes. He noticed the fish and chips were not eaten but he never asked about the food. Our bill was over $100 dollars. I ate three oysters and one chicken wing. Final thought, The Packers Kitchen has awful frozen food when they sit five feet from the bay, with boats bringing in fresh fish. I bet every customer goes in there believing there getting fresh fish, when it's not, just gross frozen fish. read more
