This was my second visit to the Railway Café in Blaine, and I'm already excited to come back again. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is adorable, super cute, eclectic, and filled with hilarious signs everywhere you look. And yes, it really is inside a bright red caboose! The whole space is cozy in the best way, with a little seating indoors and a bit more outside, perfect for soaking in the quirky charm.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu is huge and everything on it seems to call your name, breakfast all day, tons of sandwiches, muffins, smoothies... seriously, so much to love here. What a wonderful little restaurant! I love trains so I had to check out this little caboose in Blaine. I ordered an oat milk latte and breakfast sandwich to go, but ended up on the back porch and didn't want to leave. The view of the train track and harbor is so serene! Yes, even when a train went by, it was very quiet! The latte was just what I expected and the sandwich was THE best I've ever had. What a treat this place is, the people working here were great and was surprised at amount, and quality, of food while we were there. While I don't normally care for breakfast sausage had a breakfast sandwich with sausage and it was excellent. Had a nice large regular drip coffee with that and that tasted above average. When we walked in there was no one seated, when we left the other two tables were full. This is a popular spot for locals as one local sauntered in and he was chatting it up with the other couple inside. The dining area, where the the tables are, is rather cozy. The inside is very nicely decorated and definitely has a train theme to it. This caboose has been here since the 80s i believe and had held a number of businesses here, with the coffee shop as the most current one for about the last 5 years. Will definitely plan on stopping in for a coffee sometime soon again, really enjoyed it here! read more

I had to do some work in Blaine and asked if there was a particularly good spot for coffee, the gentleman immediately pointed me towards this place. I am sooo happy he did! The Railway Cafe is a gem of a place. Everything looked so fresh and delicious! The owner is wonderful and made me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. There is a covered outdoor area overlooking the marina as well as warm comfy space indoors. They had some fresh pastries displayed that looked devine. My coffee was excellent- like so good I decided to write a review about it. It was smooth and bitter (in a good way) and just the right balance of flavor. After queuing in line at the border for about 2 hours, hubby and I were both starving and needing caffeine. We usually just drive past Blaine whenever we go to Washington but it was past lunch already and we haven't eaten yet. Found Railway Cafe on Yelp and I figured it would be a nice stopover to grab some bites and coffee before continuing our drive to Seattle. Parking is available on the street and the adorable red caboose was situated overlooking the railroad and the water. We were greeted by the lovely couple who own the cafe and they were friendly and accommodating. Hubby and I ordered the following: GF chocolate cupcake and a coffee for me while he got a sandwich and iced coffee. Everything was delicious and well-made. As I approached this darling little train-car café, I bet myself that they couldn't make a Peanut Butter Malted Shake. Boy, was I wrong! Best Peanut Butter Malted Shake ever! Listen up tourists and passersby: don't even think of leaving town without one of these 16 oz. cups of liquid heaven in your cup holder. Another GREAT stop to fill your belly in the lovely little town of Blaine, WA! We stopped here a couple of times in our weekend getaway and enjoyed the food, the beverages, and the service! They have a great selection of sandwiches, sweets, and drinks (full espresso menu) along with other delicious offerings. I had the rueben sandwich, which proved to be one of the best ruebens I've ever had! My wife had a turkey and avocado sandwich. She said it was super good too. A grilled cheese for the two year old, and we were set to go. We also got multiple sweet treats on our visits, muffins, scones, etc. They were just as good as they looked!! Topped everything off with coffee and tea and we had a couple of great experiences! The staff is extremely friendly and made sure we were comfortable and all was well. I recently found myself in Blaine and hungry for breakfast, so I was excited to finally get the chance to check out The Railway. Located in an adorbs little red caboose right along the downtown Blaine waterfront, this cute cafe looks small from the outside but actually provides plenty of seating both inside and out. I ordered a cup of tasty drip coffee and a sausage breakfast burrito, signed into their wi-fi, and settled down for some food, caffeine, and a little work on the ol' laptop. The burrito was HUGE! I could barely finish the whole thing. It was stuffed full of scrambled eggs, cheese, and sausage. Nom nom! The coffee was good, too, and the wi-fi was strong. The lady behind the counter was super friendly, too. She was just finishing up baking some chocolate chip banana muffins, but I was too full from the burrito to partake. Next time, next time! BUT people were hungry so we ordered & stepped outside to wait & were the only people present @ this time. The drinks are good. The food they actually make, like the delicious apple muffin I had. I take off two stars because the owner is just rude (the other staff are very nice). She didn't seem thrilled to help us, questioned if I was searching her food for nuts (I told her I'm allergic) when I was just trying to figure out the yummy muffin filling, and was rude to another customer who came in after us. If I get another pastry and coffee from here again I won't stay in the cafe to eat. There are a ton of other places to eat and drink. read more

Visiting the Birch Bay area for our 20th Wedding Anniversary. Decided to venture out for breakfast. Found this Cafe in Blaine. Pulled up outside of it and thought oh no! Boy were we WRONG!! Cutest thing we ever saw inside. Food was amazing!! Made to order! First bite we were hooked. Breakfast sandwich was fresh tasting and hot. We had a pretty much lousy experience here. Compared to other cafes that had a wait we saw fairly good reviews and decided if the food is good lets try it. Waited in line and ordered our food. It took a good 15 minutes before our drinks arrived and waittress asks if we are waiting for anything else so we tell her we have a wrap and a sandwich still coming. 30 minutes pass and we are now 45 minutes waiting. At this point we can't waste any more time and no one has said anything. We slowly get up to walk out not without our food and the cashier that helped us earlier that we were literally seated in front of the entire 45 minutes says "goodbye have a nice day" even though we were never served. We could have pushed the issue or got our money back but too much time was wasted and would rather take the $ hit than deal with horrible customer service.
