We thought we'd give the Railway Café another shot, in case they have improved over last time. Unfortunately, this just isn't the same Railway Café as we had in the past. The food is just ok, though the coffee is good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is not really cosy or even relaxing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This is a great small Cafe breakfast shop! The sandwiches are huge and so tasty! We got some fresh baked scones. The lemon turnover and blueberry scone were delicious! Don't overlook the cookies against wall on the left. So good absolutely amazed. Thank you Yelpers for mentioning this place!

What a wonderful little restaurant! I love trains so I had to check out this little caboose in Blaine. I ordered an oat milk latte and breakfast sandwich to go, but ended up on the back porch and didn't want to leave. The view of the train track and harbor is so serene! Yes, even when a train went by, it was very quiet! The latte was just what I expected and the sandwich was THE best I've ever had. The bread was easily chewable, the bacon perfectly crispy, the egg just right, and the avocado was the perfect touch. I would recommend this place for a nice start to any day!

After queuing in line at the border for about 2 hours, hubby and I were both starving and needing caffeine. We usually just drive past Blaine whenever we go to Washington but it was past lunch already and we haven't eaten yet. Found Railway Cafe on Yelp and I figured it would be a nice stopover to grab some bites and coffee before continuing our drive to Seattle. Parking is available on the street and the adorable red caboose was situated overlooking the railroad and the water. We were greeted by the lovely couple who own the cafe and they were friendly and accommodating. Hubby and I ordered the following: GF chocolate cupcake and a coffee for me while he got a sandwich and iced coffee. Everything was delicious and well-made. Washroom is available behind the cafe with a key and it was well-maintained. Looking forward to dropping by Railway Cafe again when we cross the border next time.

    Great view!

Loved this cafe! It has an amazing location. You can sit outside and enjoy the beautiful view! The staff was super friendly as well. I really like my sandwich and it was very filling! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to stop by for a quick lunch. Lots of options on their menu. They also have free WiFi! On a beautiful sunny day I would definitely sit outside.

There is definitely at least one back room, but the main dining room is a bright, airy space that has access to a patio where may even be some live music playing. The tables are gorgeous - all live edge, which might create a bit of an issue if you have short arms and are used to stealing bites across the table, but they are absolutely beautiful and a nice nod to the area. The wine list is extensive and a bit overwhelming, but the service is happy, friendly, and very knowledgeable. In fact, I love when servers don't know, admit it, and find the answer for you - it's humble and shows they really care at getting you what you want. We got the orange wine, which is a new favorite of mine. It's like a rose for reds. Rose:White::Orange:Red. More savory, still light, and best chilled. We had the beet hummus app, which is definitely best eaten with your hands. It's light and delicious. We had the miso black cod, a personal favorite, and the lasagna for dinner and while both were good, the accoutrements with the cod were the true standout. Amazing and I could probably eat two of them. As the restaurant operates on a seasonal menu, we had a strawberry rhubarb cobbler for dessert. I know there is Sunday Brunch, and I can't wait to try it. It's not the cheapest, but it's one of the nicer restaurants in Whatcom, and is definitely worth your pennies. Everything about it makes for a truly nice experience, and we'll definitely be back.

The restaurant is by the 18th hole of the golf course, a great location. We had the option to pick from a indoor and outdoor table, we chose to sit outside on a great day. We liked the soup, both the Wild Halibut and Saffron Risotto and Bucatini & Clams were both great. We loved them both. I also enjoyed a Raspberry Whiff. We finished with Chai Creme Brulee. I was really disappointed that they only did brunch 1 day a week, but we did come back for it. Service every time was wonderful. The appetizer was bruschetta which is a go-to for me. It was delicious, however the balsamic was really thick and there probably shouldn't have been so much. I did happily eat it all. For the dinner we had scallop with red pepper risotto and mushroom pierogis. The scallops were big and perfectly cooked. The red pepper risotto however was a little overwhelming in the red pepper flavor. My husband thought it was delicious and ate it. The pierogis seemed really underwhelming and store bought. It was cheese pierogis with mushroom and arugula on the outside. I feel like if they were made in-house, the mushroom would be on the inside. They were still really good and I ate them all as well. The brunch is the thing I waited for. The lemon ricotta pancakes were to die for! They were so perfectly soft and cakey. I sadly couldn't eat them all because they were so large so I recommend sharing. Those were definitely the star of the show. I don't plan to come back to this area but if I do I would 100% come here again for the brunch. The dinner menu does change by season so I recommend looking at the menu online.
