Do NOT go here. I paid almost $6000 for my treatment and am left very unhappy about my result. Dr. Tottori is only in it for the money and does not care about his clients. He should just retire. First of all, Tottori has about 5-6 chairs where all clients sit at the same time and he goes from one chair to the next, spending about 5 minutes on each person then runs away and hides in his office. The assistants are then there to do ALL the work. I've seen this practice over the two years I been going there, and he never spent more than 5 minutes with me, EVER. He never took any of my concerns seriously and always just brushed me off. I ended up with all the problems I addressed BEFORE starting treatment- when he reassured me we wouldn't run into those problems or that he had an "idea on how to fix the problem if we run into it". Sure enough, I'm left to deal with it now through my dentist which will cost me another $4000 because even my dentist said my ortho did a horrible job.! I also ended up with a bad bite which Dr. Totorri said was NORMAL! I have an overbite which I never had before! My treatment was ended early by 6 months as he said "this is the best we will get" even tho I still had gaps in my teeth from all the extractions he required. All my teeth have huge spaces in between them!! When they removed my braces, they did such a horrible job that my front teeth have scratches and dents from the removal of the brackets. They didn't even polish it down. I can still feel the glue on every tooth! Plus my teeth are all slanted inward now so it looks very awkward. I'm spending $10,000 now on a smile I'm so not happy with. All because of Dr. Tottori. An orthodontist should be proud of his work and happy when his clients are happy. This guy should be ashamed of himself. DON'T CHOOSE THIS PLACE FOR YOUR ORTHO TREATMENT. read more

In December, my family and I travelled to Hawaii for Christmas. I was newer to braces at the time and had brackets on my back teeth. A few days into our vacation, I had a wire start to poke in the cheek. After a few days, it was a big issue, I was having problems eating, and that dental wax wasn't helping. I called around and Dr. Tottori's team was willing to fit me in, even though I wasn't a patient there. I just advise everyone to make sure they do they're research and ask a lot of questions. The staff is always amazing but I didn't ask enough questions and now I have to redo my treatment. But it's hard to stay upset at people for a mistake that wasn't your own when they're so incredibly nice. I knew I had found a good orthodontist but I didn't know how good until I was forced to find another orthodontist because I moved states. It took me two months to find another orthodontist that had some of the qualities that I was looking for. It's pretty crazy when you move to the most populated state in the United States and have difficulty finding an orthodontist that can compare. 1. FREE CONSULTATION My teeth got scanned, Dr. Tottori took a look at my teeth, and he gave me a consultation of what he recommended based on what he saw. He showed me all of the options and explained the process. Then Wendy went over the numbers with me and different ways I could pay for the braces. They also offer Invisalign. I was a food server for several years and you don't know how many times a customer had asked me to search for their Invisalign that they had been wrapped in a napkin and thrown away into the trash. I opted for regular clear braces. 2. AFFORDABLE Several orthodontists in California were about to charge me the same price (before I got braces) or more to continue care with my braces. I had my braces for a year and my teeth had straightened up drastically and I was mind-boggled why they would charge more??!!!! In Hawaii, I had contacted two other orthodonist one was about the same price as Dr. Tottori but didn't offer the same care or up to date technology and the other was priced more. 3. OPEN ON WEEKENDS On my search for an orthodontist, it was rare to find one that was open on the weekends. One orthodontist was open only 2 days out of the whole month. 4. HOURS that would be compatible with my work schedule I scheduled most of my appointments during the work week right before work. They took me in on time, worked on me quickly, and efficiently. 5. FREE PARKING or easy to find parking Both offices offer free parking. When I came in the morning before work parking was super easy. 6. FRIENDLY STAFF Jodi would always greet me with a smile and greet me by name. All of the clinical assistants were friendly and courteous. I enjoyed small talk with Tasha and was amazed at how she could understand me with my mouth wide open and tools all up in my mouth. 7. HAPPY CUSTOMERS One of my best friends and a friend had highly recommended Dr. Tottori. When I went to Dr. Tottori's office there was a wall of before and after pictures and notes from Happy Customers. I was a subscriber to Honolulu Magazine and Dr. Tottori was recommended by other orthodontists & dentists around the island for several years. The other office is located in Honolulu inside the Ala Moana Building. My son primarily visited the Kapolei location because it's close to where we live. STAFF Dr. Tottori and his whole staff are friendly and professional. Pam who helps at the front desk is always pleasant. She remembers everyone's name and always has a smile on her face. OFFICE HOURS & Reminders One of the reasons we decided with Dr. Tottori is that he offers late afternoon hours and is open on Saturday's, so my son didn't have to miss school. They give you a card that has your appointment time when you make your appointment in person and there's also a text reminder. The orthodontist gives attitude, judges and talks bad about his clients especially about young kids or teens to the staff, doesn't give good or affordable options and when you ask he gives attitude, seems slightly racist, lies about the process and how your teeth with shift into place on. Worst experience. I've never felt so shamed and my low self esteem after going here. Would NEVER wish anyone would go here. Never going back. Waste of time and money!!! We are visiting from NY and my daughter was in pain and could not eat comfortably due to a broken wire on her braces. We called the office and were offered an appointment in less than two hours. The office is clean and welcoming, and the front desk staff courteous and efficient. My daughter was called in right away and we met Dr. Tottori and his wonderful staff. My family and I were traveling from Huntington Beach, CA and my son's braces wire came loose when we checked in to Aulani. He was in a lot of pain and were advised to go to Gentle Dental but we were running short on time and took a wrong turn. Lucky for us, we decided to walk in to this practice. An extremely friendly receptionist asked us to have a seat while she checked if someone could do it because it was Monday and the ortho practice was closed. To our delight, a man (Dr. Tatorri) walks out in shorts and t shirt and cuts the wire. I walk to the front to pay cash and they say, "don't worry about it"!!! Really great experience with Dr. Tottori and the staff there are so nice and are very accommodating. I've been with them for the past 2 years and I'm almost done with my braces. My smile has improved so much and I really appreciate the great experience I've had so far in this journey. I would recommend anyone to go see them if they want braces or to improve their smile. Gentle dental is right next door also which is great for doing cleanings at the same time. Dr. Tottori and his staff are exceptional! My daughter is currently a patient and we've had no issues with her braces. When we realized she needed braces, we weren't pressured into getting something fancy but rather what would work for her and our budget. Dr. Tottori even tightened my old wire retainer and offered to put in a permanent retainer at a minimal cost because my teeth were shifting. All of my orthodontic needs were handled on the mainland but he was willing to help! The staff is very polite and they are always willing to accommodate with appointment times. Dr. Tottori and his staff are absolutely terrific! My children, husband and extended family members have seen him and I am currently a patient. They are courteous, accommodating with appointment times, prices are reasonable, the office is clean, the atmosphere is inviting, and the best part is they make you feel at home...they remember your name. We were visiting from the mainland when part of my child's permanent retainer's wire came loose. I found Dr. Tottori online and made an emergency appointment. They were able to schedule me in right away. The office was clean, pleasant and the staff was friendly. There was a beautiful fish tank too. I met w/ Dr. Tottori in the back after he examined my child. He explained that he would bond the loose wire back to the tooth and that he would also take a picture for my orthodontist back on the mainland. My orthodontist had quoted me about $125 to fix the wire so I was nervous about what the fee would be. (You know most everything more expensive in Hawaii). I timidly asked if I should check w/ the office staff what the charges would be. Imagine my surprise when he charged me practically nothing!!!! We were so appreciative of his kindness.
