DO NOT COME HERE!!! My daughter wanted to get her hair colored prior to a school dance. She brought in a picture with what she wanted, her natural color but a bit lighter (just like the picture she showed them). Instead she got DARKER color. She was not happy. They then tried to fix it and turned it RED. She is in tears. Her beautiful wavy HEALTHY shiny hair is now overprocessed stiff and like straw. She has hair down the the middle of her back. She is so upset she want to cut it all off. All they could do was offer to process it a third time. (Really? You think you'd get a third shot at getting it right?) I came here from the suggestion of a friend, who said that someone here does REALLY good work with curly/unruly hair. I booked an appointment over the phone a came in a few days later only to find out that my appointment did not actually exist. It either wasn't saved in the schedule or was somehow deleted. But, the stylist I wanted was on her break and she said that would take me anyways. That was nice of her- but I felt like I was imposing. We discussed my hair needs and I was sent to the shampoo bowl to get washed up first. That's where the product pitching began. The shampoo girl (well meaning, I'm sure) was quick to mention that my hair was very dry and damaged and that this special line of shampoo and conditioner would be great for my problem hair. She made me feel how soft my hair was after conditioning and said that she would leave the products at the front reception counter to be added to my purchase before I leave. Oh, okay. So, the stylist began styling. Nice girl, good conversation, nothing against her personally. I mentioned that my hair is curly but I never wear it that way because the curl is uneven. I typically straighten it. She said that today we would be wearing it curly, and it will look great with these additional products. Oh, ok. So she styled it curly and loaded me up with hairspray. It looked really bad. It was one of those looks where I knew I would be putting it into a ponytail or bun as soon as I got back to the car. She also conveniently had some more products added to my growing pile of "must buy" items at the reception desk. So now I'm trying to pay. The customer service lady had all of my little items at the desk and asked if I would like them all in the same bag. And wait! Because I was a first time customer, they added a travel size hairspray and some samples for free! I politely declined all of the items, I really only came for a new hairstyle and was already upset about that. I didn't want their products too. The stylist came over (her styling station was close to the reception so she overheard us talking) and told me that I would really need these products to achieve this "look" at home. I still declined. Now I just want to leave. The total.... Wow. I won't go into names of people or exact prices, but I was not prepared to pay what I paid. I had to think about the balance of my checking account first. It was a real shocker. They said I was a premium price because my stylist was an expert or some veteran hair lady. I really almost cried. So long story short, I was pushed (really pushed) to buy products from 3 different people 3 separate times. My appointment window disappeared from their schedule like a leprechaun. My haircut was bad. And I paid a quarter of my paycheck for the privilege of feeling like I wasted my stylists lunch break. I stopped into Touche' this weekend to have my hair blown out and curled before my engagement party. I live in downtown Chicago, but grew up in Libertyville and that's where the engagement party was, so Touche' was an obvious choice. Nicole did my hair and she was wonderful. The perfect mix of professional and chatty. She even considered the weather outside and discussed some alternative ways to do my hair so that the misty-rainy-nastiness outside wouldn't ruin it. Then, she even ended up improvising - I had explained what I wanted, and said I wanted very soft curls, but after she put a few curls in she showed me how it looked and said it could look cool if she curled more of it. Go ahead, girl. Do your thing. It looked wonderfully elegant! I walked away from her chair wondering how much I'd be charged. I told myself that anything around 40 was acceptable - after all, it was not only a blow out but also some curling and treatment etc. Well, my total was 32. So I hit her with a nice tip, because, let's be honest, being pleasantly surprised by your total at a salon is rare. A+, Touche. :) read more

Yesterday I attempted to dye my light brown hair myself to a brownish black and it turned out way darker than I anticipated. Worried, I called Touche Salon (a salon I have been going to over 4 years) asking if they had any available appointments the next day and explained what happened. I explicitly told the lady on the phone I had dyed my hair way too dark and needed it to be back to brown. She assured me she could get me in the next morning and I was thrilled. So I went today and explained to my hairdresser what had happened and showed her a picture of a girl with chocolate brown hair saying I wanted this instead. We then laughed about how I said I looked like a ghost with basically black hair and was excited to go back to brown. She then dyed my hair and after it was washed I was told I couldn't blow dry it there because of corona reasons (which I understood) but I still thought it looked very dark. I calmed myself down and figured it was just wet and that's why it looked so dark and it most likely will dry brown or lighter so I left. Once I got in my car, I "dried" my hair with the vents in my car and soon noticed even when dry, my hair was even darker than it was before. Upset, I walked back into the salon. I explained how I was upset with my hair and how I wanted it to be lighter and how now it is basically pitch black. The hairdresser then claimed she thought I wanted to go darker despite me showing a picture and explicitly stating how much I hated how dark it was. I was extremely upset and confused and they said they had no availability to fix it today. They then offered to fit me in on Monday and said I would need to pay full price for it because it was a different service. I said I understood I had to pay for the next appointment because the process that needed to be done was more work than they did today but I did not feel like I should have to pay for what I got today- something that I did not ask for and completely hated. I was then treated like a child and was told "my mom" could call if I was upset. Keep in mind, I am 20 years and have been a loyal customer to this salon since before I could even drive. They then were trying to blame me for what happened saying I booked the wrong service even though I called and explained the situation and then was simply asked what time I wanted- no clarification on service name or whatever. I don't understand if I call and say I want lighter hair and come and say I want lighter hair, why would you dye it darker then put the blame on me saying I should have known somehow the process they did wasn't for lightening hair? I'm not a hairdresser. I left crying and had my mom call for me (despite being an adult) because they were obviously not taking me seriously no matter how many times I explained why I was upset. They then were rude to her and refused to admit fault even though the hairdresser herself admitted to me in person she misunderstood and made me a shade darker instead of lighter. I have never ever been so upset leaving an appointment and am now out $70 and have to go to a different salon tomorrow to dye my hair for the third time this week. I absolutely do not recommend this place to anyone. Super unprofessional and rude. I have never felt so belittled in my life. read more

If you need a good salon by all means this is your answer. For years I have been traumatized of hair cuts. However for the past couple times I've been here I get nothing but the best. My stylist Courtney...(takes breath)... This girl deserves the best reviews. She is so talented and passionate. She actually LISTENS and gives her input making sure you leave happy. My hair cut is absolutely perfect in every way shape and form. She's the best hair stylists in the area no joke. I usually have the worst experiences but never have I been unhappy here. Quick tip: make sure you enter through the back since that's where the receptionists are. They are the sweetest things as well. I've been a client at Touche' for the past 10 years. The atmosphere is laid back and friendly. When you enter, the staff at the front desk are very welcoming and check you in. Whether I need to change an appointment or need to schedule something last minute, they will work with you. Rebecca is my hair stylist and just love her! She's a gifted artist who listens to what I want, or if I don't know what I want, comes up with great suggestions. I would especially recommend her for short hairstyles. I often get complements on my hair and I credit Rebecca's great cuts. I have gone to the same colorist, Kathy, for the entire time, and appreciate how she listens to my ideas and executes great results every time. Came in for both a color and cut. Was seated in the styling chair and asked what I was there for. Mind you, I'm a brunette and was wanting to go light (light as in blonde not brassy/bronze). I showed at least 5 pictures I had "pinned" on Pinterest. The stylist reassured me that we'd be able to get the results I had asked for. When she said she'd be coloring my hair, I mentioned also needing a cut. She then said that she only specializes in color and that all of the other stylists that do cuts were booked for the night. This is even after I had mentioned that I specifically asked for these services when scheduling my appointment over the phone the week prior! (eye-roll) So I'm in the chair and she's mixing colors and doing her thing, putting my hair in the foils. I sit for 25 minutes, she comes back, pulls the foil back to check and OK, wow, looks good so far. Sits me in the chair for another 7 minutes or so. I'm then taken over to the sinks to get rinsed among other things (treatments for God only knows what and why because they didn't do a darn thing)... I'm then escorted over to the "Styling Station" where I, yes I, get to dry and style my own hair. As my hair is drying the colorist comes to check on my hair and claims it looks great. I told her it is very brassy looking and she said "Well, you're going to have to return a few more times to get to the color you want". When I asked how many more times, she stated 2-3 at least. Are you out of your mind? OK...be up front and honest with your clients. When a client sits in a chair and asks for something, be honest about if that is obtainable and if so, let the client know what the process entails. If I would have known I was coming in for what I thought was a cut and color, only to be told I can't get a haircut because those stylists are booked for the night, then to be sent to the Styling Station to dry my own hair to later find out the results are nowhere near what I had anticipated...but could be that way if I came back another 2-3 times, I'd say throw someone else in my chair cuz I'm out!. Oh I almost forgot, she left a good half an inch of root showing! All for nearly $200! All for me to drive a mile up the street so I can get the haircut I wanted. Never again. read more

Touche was recommended by one of my friends, when I moved here from Roscoe Village in Chicago. I have been going here for 10 years. Meaghan is my colorist, Rebecca cuts my hair and they both are amazing at what they do. My 85 year old mom goes here once a week for a "blow dry and style" with Courtney, and again Meaghan does her color every 8 to 9 weeks. I would trust everyone here, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the ladies. I feel the prices are reasonable for a high quality salon. There are less expensive places, but I have never had luck with them, and I am picky about my hair. The salon is very clean, very bright, and the staff is nice, overall. My fiancé surprised me with an appointment at Touche a couple weeks ago to get my hair colored. We were in town for only a week and we were getting our Engagement photos taken later that afternoon. Needless to say, that never ended up happening. After almost 6 hours at Touche, I was left with the worst color job I've ever seen a professional hair colorist do. I told the colorist I wanted the brassiness brightened up at the bottom of my hair from a professionally done ombre 8 months prior at a different salon. I also mentioned I would like the top of my hair (all the natural brown color I had been growing out to keep healthy) to be a little brighter. I showed her a picture so she could visualize the effect I wanted. VERY NATURAL, keeping within the color family of my natural hair just a shade lighter. She ended up giving me "baby lights" coming out from my root, along with dark brown "low lights" (to get rid of brassiness from the ends) and then used two different concoctions of toner. She said I would get a complimentary blow-dry but if I didn't like the color I should stop the girl drying it and go tell her. Well, I had to do just that; I was left with banana yellow zebra striped hair with little tiny strands of white. The ends of my hair were just as brassy as when I came in but now had dark brown mixed in. At this point I was in tears, so a few other stylists started coming over to me because the poor girl that had made the error in my color didn't know what to do. By now my fiancé was there too because I had texted him to pick me up after they shampooed my hair. He saw immediately that my previously healthy hair was now a hot mess! The other stylists that were hovering around me insisted they could fix it by toning it, and also brightening the front like in the picture I showed them. They ended up just making it even WORSE, and more damaged. The owner, Lara, came over to try & control the situation by asking what she could do. At that point I said there was nothing she could do since they could not unfix the damage and broken hair they had caused me, but at least an apology would be nice. I explained that I asked for a natural ombre with balayage. The owner then tells me "these terms are just names for techniques and they can be done in different ways". While that may be true, regarding balayage, I told her the balayage technique is 100% NOT symmetrically placed strips of highlights starting at the root. So then she changed her tune and said "Oh well, that is called an English Balayage". If I wasn't so angry I would have laughed, as she was now making up fake terms to avoid admitting mistakes were made. I work in the fashion industry and am well versed in the different ways to color hair, and her claim about "English Balayage" was entirely pulled out of her you know what! Never again will I step foot in this salon. I don't want anyone else to have to go through the disaster I am left with. My hair used to dry naturally into beautiful ringlets, it now dries limp and wiry. The texture is STRAW. Hair keeps falling out and continuing to break. This whole experience was a nightmare. I didn't state the colorist's name in this review purposely. She tried to do a technique she didn't know how to do, and I know it was not done maliciously. Unfortunately, I am left with having to get married with hair that is the exact opposite of my dreams, in the most damaged condition it has ever been. NOTE: After having hair correction consultations at two of the best salons in LA, each of the colorists saw right away that my hair had been extremely over-processed and was incompetently colored. read more

As someone who has given Touche my business for over 8 years now, I have never been treated so rudely, I was shocked. After showing the hair colorist 2 pictures, and telling her I would like to get rid of the highlights in my hair and go back to brown, I would expect to walk out of that salon with a simple result. Instead I left visibly upset and with tears in my eyes. Megan, the colorist I have recommended in the past, had nothing to say to me as she bleached my hair (not a normal sign of going back to brown) before going to get shampooed. Trusting her "talent" and years of experience, I didn't think to ask what she doing. Moving on to the shampoo, where I am again ignored, until a newbie brings me to her chair and proceeds to wash cold water over my head and YANK all the foils out of my hair. I have had long hair my entire life and don't feel I have a sensitive scalp, if that gives you any idea of how awful this experience was. After the newbie walked away during my glaze, another person finished my rinse. She was clearly rushing through it to get to the next client, as it became apparent my repeated business was not appreciated. As I dried my hair I started to see the streaks of blonde. I thought to myself "it is still wet, wait till it is fully dried, it will get better". Wrong! It got worse, and brighter. Instead of the brown I preferred Megan framed my face with the nasty bright streaky highlights that appear extremely unnatural and have no way of covering up. Needless to say I will not be returning and will never again recommend this salon to friends and family. read more

I drove an hour to get to this place because i saw on yelp someone recommend Sarah because supposedly she knew what ombre was. I was about 20 minutes late because of traffic and I understand it was my fault but she completely rushed it and in my opinion, half-assed it. I had a few pictures and I would try to explain what I wanted, but she would cut me off, as if she knew what I wanted without me even being done explaining. The end result? It looked like she just put highlights in my hair and called that ombre. No, starting highlights at my roots defeats the purpose of ombre since you can't even differentiate from my natural, dark hair to the supposed ombre. I was very disappointed. The salon was snooty and Sarah was not at all approachable nor friendly. i didn't feel comfortable. Even after i tried to tell her that I thought it would be more noticable, she once more cut me off and she said it would be after it was dry. She's right, it became more noticable that she didn't even try to listen to me and instead just gave me some half-assed result. I was not happy at all and never will I return. read more

Just found my new salon! Called for a last minute opening and they were extremely accommodating and friendly on the phone. When I came in for my appt with Taylor the entire staff was friendly- everyone greets you as you walk through. I was given yummy tea and a great shampoo. Taylor took a lot of time during the consultation to really listen to my preferences before she went to work on my mane. If you are looking for a quality salon in the Libertyville area, this is it.Over the years, I have gone to Touche Salon for hair coloring and cuts, eyebrow waxing, and makeup. I have always been pleased with the results. My mother, mother-in-law, Maid of Honor and I all went to Touche salon for our wedding hair and /or makeup. The salon staff was accommodating and patient as we tried to schedule the time slots of all the women involved. My hair and makeup cost $144. I feel this is a fair price because of the time required and the quality of the finished look. I did go in for a trial (so in the end it cost $288 total). I've been a client of Courtney's for years and trust her completely. She really has an artistic eye and can make good recommendations based on your style, your face shape, and your hair texture / length. She loves doing up-dos and was sweetly excited and supportive of me, even in my nervous state on the wedding day. She gets five stars in all respects. I recommend her to anyone. read more

I then met Sarah my colorist and I explained I wanted ombre and she knew exactly what I was talking about. She went to work and before long i was done. I have worked in salons for years so I am a little picky when it comes to my color especially. I called in the morning and was set up with Brittany for the same day. She did fantastic! She gave a great consultation and knew exactly what I needed. They also have a great blow-dry bar for afterwards and she took the time to recommend what products would work best. Was so pleased that they finally got the online scheduler up and running, but then the system has to check with the salon for availability and ultimately you get a call saying they can't take you afterall. Why not just go back to the call in system then? Unfortunately, I attempted on three prior occasions to make an appt by phone, only to get their voicemail, then get a call back 3 - 4 hours later. I'd like to suggest that they check out the system that Mario Tricoci uses, where it displays the stylists that are working and available on the day you request. Painless and accurate appt. making. I went in to dye my hair silver (to honor Khaleesi) and left getting a touch up on my current hair color. I have red hair that I would like to get rid of and they basically told me that I was going to be stuck with this color for the rest of my life. They said that my hair was too thick and too coarse to b lightened down to such a shade and looked at me like I was a crazy person when I said what I wanted. The girl who was doing my hair even went to get another stylist to bully me into changing the color I wanted. After accepting my fate, I decided to get the red refreshed and have some violet balayage highlights put in. She didnt even apply the actual color herself, she just had the shampoo woman apply the color. I will say however, that the shampoo women was the best part about this place. She was sweet and made me feel comfortable and even gave me a scalp massage that almost made me fall asleep. Anyway, back to the story. After the color was rinsed out, i was told I had to dry and style my own hair which I admit sounds kind of nice but I had to be somewhere after that and was counting on someone else straightening my hair. I also noticed my hair was red with orange highlights. I was more shocked when the stylist lied to me and said I looked "great" when we both knew what was on my head was terrible. When I asked her why I had orange hair when I agreed to PAY for violet highlights, she said we had never agreed to that and didn't realize I was serious. When I asked her if she could please fix it she begrudgingly agreed to run the color through one more time and still didn't even apply the color herself. She had someone shampoo it in for me. If I wanted to just shampoo color in, I would have bought a $12 Manic Panic from Hot Topic and not spent over $100 in the hopes of getting it professionally done. Overall, I was not happy with the color as I did not want what she gave me and in the end I will definitely not be returning. The only reason it gets two stars is for that bomb ass scalp massage and them giving me free green tea. read more

I was so pleased with the service I received here! Chellee (I think that's how you spell it! ) gave me my cut and she did such a great job! Im upset I didn't find her sooner, as I've had some pretty bad cuts before although Ive only been around this area since oct of last year. And I just want to take her with me when I leave in nov! Good hair stylist are hard to find!! She was quick too, I was in and out and pleased as punch. Also had my hair washed before the cut and I could of fell asleep it felt so good, wish someone would wash my hair like that for me at home haha! LOVE Touche! I have been going to Taylor for haircuts and Keratin blow-outs as well as Chrissy for highlights and root touch-ups. My hair has never been so healthy and shiny. This is the first place that I do not need to tell them that my hair needs a toner of some sort after coloring. I also have very hard to style/manage hair and they paired me with someone (Taylor) who was familiar with my hair structure and the style I was looking for. I love this salon. I have gotten my hair balayaged for the past 2 years usually once or twice a year by various ladies. Every single time it is either not enough color, too much color, too brassy, or too yellow. I came to Touche salon after multiple fails at other salons and saw Shawna. I have long, warm brown hair, and I told her my past issues and what I wanted, and she knew exactly what to do. It turned out flawless, and it took half the time it has in the past. All the brassiness in my hair is gone now, and she did the perfect amount of color. It is the perfect cool beige color, and looks so natural yet amazing. She was also extremely friendly and talked to me the whole time, so it wasn't boring at all. Now I finally have someone I can go to for color and stick with. Also, I get my hair cut by Daisy and she is also amazing at cutting my hair. I am so relieved I now know where to get my hair colored and that they will do it right. read more

I love the fact that there are separate stations and that the stylists are professionals in their area: cutting vs hair colorist. The staff was all very nice and I was pleased with the results. For some reason, I was given a different colored smock from everyone else in the salon. I wanted to know the purpose of it. It's a busy salon. Lots of clients. But I was the only one not wearing a black smock. That bothered me. It made me feel like I didn't belong. read more
