I wish there were more of this around, and in Chicago. This bakery makes my favorite cakes and pastries, and it was my go-to spot when I temporarily lived in NYC. This cafe has a cute sitting area and free Wi-Fi. On this visit, I had their iced coffee. It was refreshing, just enough strength, and not bitter. Service was quick, and I was in and out. Usually, I like to buy their fresh loaves of bread but I couldn't carry that to a golf range. Its freshly baked and so soft. They toast up really well, and its delicious for breakfast. Other great pastry items are their croquettes and their beautiful cakes. When you initially walk in, the pastries are all laid out to the left. You'll take a tray and tongues, and select your pastries. After you're done, walk up to the counter and they will package your pastries. Their fresh cream cakes are great for celebrations. The cake has a nice spring and perfectly sweetened. The fresh whipped cream is like taking a bite out of a cloud. Usually I add fresh fruits on the cake. Again, I wish I was closer! This is a fairly new bakery/cafe in the Glenview area but has some competition since Caffe Bene is a few store fronts down. I prefer Tous Les Jours over Caffe Bene but you can't really compare the two. Tous offers tons of options for fresh pastries, cakes, bread, and drinks whereas Caffe Bene focuses more on waffles, sandwiches, bingsoo, and coffee. At Tous Les Jours, I tried their fruit tart, curry donut, and hot chocolate. All were fresh and tasty; the only downside was that they were a bit overpriced. The fruit tart had a nice crispy crust with vanilla cream and fresh fruit on top, the donut was filled with a yummy curry, and the hot cocoa wasn't overly sweet. All of their baked goods look delicious and I'm sure you can't go wrong with whatever you pick. There is seating in the back and they have pitchers of water readily available which is great. We came early evening so the pastry/bread choices were limited. The cakes they have are beautifully decorated and look so tasty! We bought a plain croissant, a chocolate covered croissant with almond slivers, and an apple pastry made out of the croissant dough. You can taste the butter in the layers of the dough! There is limited seating inside. Masks are a must. And hand sanitizer use before donning gloves is a must also, prior to getting a tray and tongs to pick your pastry choices. They also offer cold and hot drinks too. So cute inside and so "French".. oh la la. Will come back in the AM on my next weekday off just to see what they offer. read more

Tour les jours is a Korean bakery, also very popular in Korea. Korean pastries are known to be not too sweet, similar to French pastries, and pleasing to look at. Their cakes are beautiful and taste amazing, especially the fruit whipped cream cakes. If possible, getting the whole cake is better than slices as the slices can be dry at times. I would say cakes here are one of the best in Chicago. Other pastries are very good too, I love their milk breads and chewy donuts with red bean filling. I walked in today for the first time and I have to say this is such a nice Korean/French bakery. When you walk in you see a huge selection of pastries and they also have a huge section of coffee, tea, and smoothies which is a plus. I love that you can just take a wooden tray with tongs and select what pastries you want instead of waiting for someone to assist you. This place has a very cozy vibe and is super clean. The staff is also very nice and quick with service. The cakes all look soooo good you honestly want to try them all. Also the iced caramel macchiato is delicious! I don't normally review places but I was massively disappointed by my experience at this Tous Les Jours. when I came in nobody said hello. When I got to the register I had to wait till the manager came over to help me. I ordered a green tea latte and they didn't even let me know it was ready. When I left nobody said thank you or good bye. The overall atmosphere just didn't seem to be that great. The customer service needs to be worked on. It massively differences from the Tous Les Jour in Schaumburg which I frequent. When you enter they say hello and are super kind to you. After you order if it isn't busy they will bring the drink to your table. If they can't they call out that it is ready so you know. When you leave they say bye to you. Overall the feeling of this cafe is much better. The manager is a sweet lady as well. Every time I'm here they say hello and even ask how I am doing. They have become like a little family. So if you're in the Schaumburg area don't hesitate to visit that Tous Les Jours. As they are all lovely people. read more

The bakery items are great but I can't bring myself to return... I was waiting for the bathroom and saw a lady come out and go into the kitchen area. You know, where they bake/prepare the food. I gave it a couple of minutes before heading into the bathroom bc I don't like to go in right after someone just used it. When I got in there, however... I saw nasty yellow pee still in the toilet. The kitchen lady apparently could not be bothered to flush the toilet. Which made me wonder... if she can't even bother to flush the toilet, did she even wash her hands?????? Like I said. This is the review for the Glenview location not the China town location. Get the Bingsoo. They make it like no other. It's made of ice milk shaved so fine that you feel like eating cotton candy or clouds. For the uninitiated, Bingsoo is shaved ice topped with mochi, sweet beans, ice cream and fruits. It's light and not too sugary. I got the strawberry bingsoo which does not have beans or mochi. It's a nice way to top off a dinner (Mozu couple of doors down a great choice) with something light and cold. Don't get the bingsoo at the China town location. Not the same. read more

We are owners of a small business who visit Tous Les Jours every week and purchase pastries for our clients. The last I was there, I had a terrible experience. I had a tray full of pastries and as I was adding more to my tray, I accidentally dropped one. The response I got from the woman that worked there was obsurd. She proceed to look at me and tell me that I should be more careful. She did not even have the courtesy to help me pick up what I had dropped. On top of all that, when it was time to pay for all my pastries she made sure to charge me for for the one I mistakingly dropped. It was a Sunday evening, and I made a search on Google map - and Tous Les Jours in Glenview popped up. We drove for 30 minutes to experience this new French pastries place. They advertise themselves as French-Asian bakery. People, please! This stale, taste-free and dry rice paper they named rolls with raisins, and dry rice paper-tasting pieces of elongated dry dough with a tasteless day-old half-melted butter inside they call cream. I know very well what French pastries should taste like, and what eating a good quality French pastries makes you feel like. One of our favorite go-to's for Korean bakery. They have everything from kimchi filled donuts to egg tarts. Parking is always full because they're just that good. When you walk in you can either go in the bakery or they also have a spot to sip coffee with your friends. I haven't had the pleasure to stay that long to enjoy a cup but the bakery is phenomenal. You can grab a tray and tongs and basically just pick what you want. They have bean cakes and hotdogs wrapped in dough, to blueberry triangle things and chocolate donuts. You can also order or buy cakes from them. We've had their chicken twice now for our baby girl (who's the year of the chicken) and their cake literally melts in your mouth. They do speak English, so please don't be put off by the many Korean people and make it a point to stop in! read more

Tous Les Jours is a French-Asian bakery that has recently popped up around the U.S. This is not a traditional bakery in the sense that it mimics French pastries. Instead think of pastries with less sugar and more savory options. Even their very small, very expensive cakes are less sugary. I haven't seen a nutrition label on it so can't compare but Asians especially like this since they aren't used to very sugary desserts. This location is a little smaller than others I've been to but it is open early and staff are helpful. I especially like the Asian influenced desserts that have sweet beans and rice cake. This is where our family has been going for so long it seems like we're always there. There's always a pastry or bread from here at our house at all times. We splurge on the cakes here for special dates, birthdays and just a regular day craving cake. I never get cake from anywhere else but here. The owner and workers are always pleasant and are there to help in any way! This is honestly one of the best bakery in the chicagoland area. Freshly baked French pastries in a strip mall along the Korean section of Milwaukee Ave. Who would have thought? A friend raved about their Milk Soft pastries, which is like a soft, fluffy breadstick filled with whipped cream. While we enjoy those, my favorites are now the Almond Croissants, Crispy Almond Pastries, and all varieties of their Cornets. I like Chocolate the best, but oddly it's the Blueberry and the Milk flavors that have the "Best" stickers on their labels. They also serve lots of other sweets, a few savory pastries, as well as loaves of breads. The cakes and macarons look pretty and delicious, but I haven't tasted them. My friend likes their lattes as well. While it looks like they bake throughout the day, for the best selection, come as early in the day as you can. Sometimes they are cleaned out of my favorites hours before closing time. Oh well, it only forces me to try different pastries. TLJ used to have a $10 minimum for credit card purchases, but they dropped it to a $5 minimum. I don't usually have trouble meeting either minimum. ;) read more

While the pastries here are great, the service left me very frustrated. We entered the store on a Saturday afternoon. I'd done my homework ahead of our trip so I knew to grab a tray and some tongs (both easy to find -- good!), to pick some items to take home and some to eat here. My understanding was that they'd sort them out for us, box some, heat the rest up, and voila! My husband and I each had a tray, and things were great at first. We read each description and picked out what we wanted. We knew which we were taking home, and which we were planning to eat there. We headed to the counter to check out. A young man was working at the cash register, along with two older ladies. The young man offered to help us. Let me be clear here -- He was wonderful, friendly, very nice. This was not his fault. But he was severely undertrained for his job. He didn't know what almost all of our selections were. Picture 14 pastries (a combination of sweet and savory) spread across two trays, with no idea what they were, no easy process to select off a few and heat them up, two older clerks who should have helped him but brushed him off as if they were annoyed, and an ever-growing line in a busy pastry shop. By the time we were through, I was practically in tears, and very upset with the older ladies for leaving the young guy high and dry. After 10 minutes of us standing helplessly as the young man repeatedly asked them for help and eventually ran out into the shop trying to identify some of the pastries, and of my having to throw a minor fit and confront the women as they largely ignored us, the young man finally got some help from them, but very grudgingly, as they hurriedly threw our pastries into boxes without listening to my explanation of which ones were for dine-in and which to take home. So then they had to stop and re-do things, and they treated my husband and me like a couple pieces of dung. (Read my other reviews -- You'll see this was highly unusual -- We're friendly, accommodating folks who love to try new places.) The only word I'll use here to describe these women is rude, but I can think of many more. Eventually, after making us (and our young man cashier) feel like we'd done something terribly wrong, they heated up our four dine-in pastries (savories like ham and cheese) on flimsy paper plates and practically threw them at us. We were embarrassed as the folks behind us in the now-very-long line glared at us, but we wanted to stay and eat anyway, so we slunk to a back table and settled in. Then I realized that I'd forgotten all about ordering coffee drinks in the midst of the mess. I went back to the counter and spoke with one of the women. Without any attempt at customer service (as in, no apology for the earlier fiasco), she made the drinks then started to ring them up. My fuse was smouldering as I stood there waiting, and I couldn't help myself -- at that point I said, under my breath, "I'm so sorry for your trouble, ma'am, the drinks are on us." She looked at me and glared. So I said a little more loudly -- "I'm so sorry for your trouble, ma'am. Please accept these drinks and our apology." She turned to me and told me the price of the drinks. I fully expected to pay for them when I ordered them, but by this time I'd decided I really shouldn't need to. (The whole situation was that bad.) I stood my ground and repeated myself. Then I said, "It's really the least you can do, considering the way you left your new staff member high and dry and created an awful situation for a new customer." She again glared at me, but waved me off without charging me. By then, the long line was watching the discussion, most of them nodding their heads as if in agreement. I felt a little like Norma Rae by this point. One customer in line even walked over to our table later, telling me she'd spoken to the ladies in Korean, to make sure they fully understood the situation. She said they offered their apologies. Now, if I thought this was just a misunderstanding due to a language barrier, I would be much more understanding. I know this customer was trying to help rectify the situation, and we thanked her for her kind effort, but this was not what happened here. They were just plain rude. Our food was good, as were the coffee drinks. We'd seen some delicious looking dessert pastries in the refrigerated case at the far end of the store, so I went over and looked at them to pick out the one I wanted (and on my stay stopped to reassure the young man that the earlier fiasco had not been his fault), then sent my husband back to order. I was unwilling to go to the counter, fearing a similar experience. At first they told him they didn't have what I'd asked for. I had to make a second trip over, then come back and describe it to him in detail. Were they messing with him? I'm not sure. We ate, left, and although some of the pastries we took home were delicious, I don't know if we'll be back. read more

i have been going to the Old orchard location and find it to be okay. decent pastries and coffee. nice place to treat myself and my little one. so i decided to order the bear cake for my husband. i asked for them to write a greeting and one of the employees (manager?) recommended a chocolate topper instead of writing the greeting. so i thought it was a great idea until i got home and unboxed the entire cake and saw " happy birthday chocolate topper" written on the actual chocolate topper! we found it funny but i will not go back to order more cakes. i will give the cake two stars at most because it was dry and lacking flavor. i reached out to customer service online and email about the topper incident but no response. i gave them two stars instead of one because the staff are friendly but not too sharp i guess. so i can't recommend the brown bear cake. read more

I've been here a few times and I love it. I go to school nearby so I'll stop by before class on occasion. The staff is always ready to help and the food is always baked to perfection. It's always been clean when I happen to stop by and I really can't find any complains. I haven't tried much of their sweeter foods but I can promise you that their macaroons are second to none.
