3.75 Solid pastries. They seemingly try to change things up by offering seasonal items, and even mixing things up for regular offerings. Then again, I don't live close enough to check them out every week or anything.. Whenever I do make a trip out to Chicago, I'm usually in the area for other personal matters, and unintentionally end up visiting for breakfast items. Of course it helps that my daughter who is 7 years of age grew up eating Korean pastries from L.A. and she's used to the likes of them. -1.25 stars because they seem to *always* be short on at least half of their offerings every time we visit. Now, I get that it's a bakery and most bakeries have their fresh bread in early mornings. But these bakeries also close down before evening. In my mind, if you're going to stay open till late night, shouldn't you at least bake a few more times during the day? I can't remember the last time I was there and the whole shelves were stocked up... Oh, and not that I care so much about this, but their staff never seem to be too friendly... not a very talkative bunch. :-( Then again, it's not like I have a full understanding of a bake shop dynamics either, so please,, take this with a grain of salt.. err.... a pound of sugar.. So glad there's a Tous Les Jours in the Chicago suburban area :) Lots of delicious breads! My favorites are Sweet Pumpkin Cream Cheese, Red Bean Soboro, Sweet Potato bread, but there are so many choices, you can't really go wrong. Also there's calories listed if you're watching what you're eating ^^ a nice bonus! Also got this mocha cake which is really cute and one of the best cakes I've purchased at a korean bakery. Light and fluffy with a perfect amount of sweetness and chocolatey-coffee goodness. Sometimes I get disappointed at korean bakery cakes because there's just too much cream compared to cake, but the cream to cake ratio was perfect. Sweet potato cake is also really good, more cream on this one, but you can definitely taste the sweet potato flavor. The crepe cake looked better than it tasted. It had enough cream, but the crepe layers were dry and almost hard. Not much flavor either. The breads and pastries are okay. The coffee and other drinks are really bad. I would not recommend the drinks here. Coffee is extremely hot with no favors or aroma. We have eaten more than 15 different items (most more than once) and have been pleased with EVERY purchase: breads, danishes, croissants, pastries, and even candies (once bought lavender candy at one location). MILK BREAD IS CRACK. Seriously, the white bread is so fluffy, and the one I bought had this light cream sandwiched in between the bread. They also dust the bread with flour, which makes all breads taste better even though it doesn't really taste like anything. They also had some breads like the coffee kaya bread, and marble cake which I bought. I also saw some savory breads but I didn't get a chance to try them. I finally had a chance to get over to this French Asian bakery. I'm sorry it took me so long. A small Shop in a strip mall on Milwaukee avenue. The owner I spoke to couldn't be more pleasant. Such a wide variety of offerings. From croissants, muffins, breakfast & lunch items, macaroons, home made breads and more. I had a chocolate croffin, which is cross between a croissant and a muffin stuffed with a chocolate filling. Unbelievably good as was the vanilla one my husband ate for dessert last night. In addition, macaroons which I'm a HUGE fan of...so many flavors to pick from, and you can make your own box. When you walk in, take a tray to place all the items you want and then head over to the register. You can also grab a coffee and eat a pastry there as they have a cafe on the other side. I received 2 gift cards to TLJ from a raffle drawing at a non-profit organization event. I went to this location to use them, and the manager said they do not accept gift cards. The website indicates gift cards can be used at any TLJ location. I think this is an extremely fraudulent business practice where these people are selling gift cards, knowing they will not accept them. I've been to the TLJ in Santa Clara, CA and fell in love with the bakery. The one in Glenview is just as wonderful. Those cornets (looks like a croissant shaped like a cannoli filled with cream) are my favorite -- not too sweet, has that satisfying rich, yet light cream dairy flavor and flaky bread. The individually wrapped buns and egg tarts are also wonderful too. It's easy to fill your tray and blow a good $20-$30 for a few day's worth of breakfast and dessert pastries. If it wasn't so darned far away from the city, my wallet would have a huge dent in it from binging at TLJ frequently. read more

This place is so funny and ridiculously expensive. I got the red bean shaved ice. They give you a little tiny bowl with a tiny amount of red bean and some stuff like nuts, milk, or lots of ice. So I asked the lady to give me a extra bowl so I can share. She said we don't have bowls so just use paper cups ! I said what ?!' You don't have an extra bowl to give me . This was such a cute cafe type interior place. My friend and I got there late and so the majority of the bake goods were gone, so we didn't have access to many things, but that's okay. My friends and I picked a few pastries and some delicious delicacies. I got 3 macaroons, flavors were : Chai, Green Tea, and Lemon. They weren't the best, but like the workers did answer any questions that I needed an answer to. We also bought cream puffs and other goods. Oh my goodness. My friend found Tous Les Jours (TLJ) on yelp and showed me the pictures. We decided we had to make a trek out to Glenview to see if this place lived up to the hype. We got there early--like 8:30am on a Saturday morning. As soon as you walk in the door, you are just hit with the most decadent aromas--butter, chocolate, bread...oh my! You get a tray and your own set of tongs and then you walk around and just take stuff off the shelves. Maybe we were really early because the shelves were not fully stocked. We were there for a while, so we just waited and looked around as they refilled shelves with more delicious things. I think that one of their things is to make things in small batches so that it is constantly fresh when they put it on the shelf. My friend and I were there for over an hour and just kept buying things. We stopped and had a cup of coffee and a treat and then went back to shopping. Some of our favorite things - the croquettes were delicious (shrimp was good!), the chewy sticks, the ham and tomato tart, the pan bread, mmm...I also had something that had beef short rib in it. Really good. The cakes were beautiful but I stuck to things I could eat by myself. I would not mind going back for a cake though. This was just a fun place to visit. Having Tous Le Jours in the state provides a source of glee for me that isn't just for my belly! Its presence is tremendously evocative of my childhood back in Asia because I celebrated a number of milestones in my life with the charming and toothsome cakes from the franchise, in addition to the habitual visits after school. This Glenview location is a bit far from home (just a note: they've already opened one in Chinatown). The parking lot is in front of the bakery. They have a clean and small space with tables and chairs inside. Their interior is minimal and relaxed. I went here with my relatives after having a massive lunch, but alas! We purchased a lot of various pastries, even gobbling up most of them right after buying and along the way back to Chicago. We hardly had anything left when we arrived home. I love their egg tarts, croissants and bread aside from all of their cakes. The staffs were plain-speaking; they were neither genial nor impolite. There was a long queue when we were there, but they were noticeably exerting an effort to be speedy. I haven't gone yet to another bakery which I would consider at par with this. They have sundry selections of high-grade goodies. If I would be in the vicinity, dropping by early is a must. read more

One of my favorite bread shops. I miss here so much and wish there was one near me here in the bay. The breads are freshly made and so soft and fluffy! I love bread and tous les jours knows how to make their breads well. Red paste bread is one of my childhood favorites and tous les jours has created different renditions of the red paste bread - one that is combined with soboro (which by the way is such a yummy combination and one of my favorite breads here) and another with a walnut in the middle. The chestnut bread is also one of my favorites. It's a larger pastry bread with little bites of chestnut inside. SO GOOD! I prefer to stick to classics versus more "fusion" styled breads as the classics are what I think they excel in and what I enjoy also. I recently tried the green tea bread that has some red bean and a cream filling inside and while it was enjoyable I do not think I would try it again as I prefer a stronger matcha taste in green tea flavored items. The jasmine green bubble tea is also pretty good. It has a thicker consistency almost like a smoothie and has a decent hint of jasmine which adds a nice flavoring to the green tea. Cute interior as it is relatively new. It's a nice atmosphere to grab some bread, tea and sit down and catch up with someone. read more

I usually go to the location in Chinatown but I recently discovered this one was slightly closer to me. We came close to New Years and late at night so most of the baked goods were gone already but we were able to try a ham and cheese croissant, sweet potato bread, mango cake slice, and buy a cake for New Years. Even though this was a different location, everything tasted just as good as the Chinatown one. The ham and cheese croissant was soft and flaky with a good amount of filling. The sweet potato bread was so soft and fluffy it practically melted in your mouth. The mango cake was so light with a perfectly fresh mango filling, it was amazing. The vanilla and chocolate mousse cake we got for New Years was adorable. The decoration was beautiful, as you can see in the picture, and it tasted as good as it looked. It was again incredibly soft and light but still packed with flavor. The smooth texture of the mousse with the soft cake was wonderful. Finally! I've been meaning to come here forever, and on a recent trip to Abt, we couldn't resist driving past without stopping in. Tous Les Jours means daily or every day in French (I looked that up). I'm guessing that means eat good pastries every day from this place? And, if I lived in the area, I could see my budget going to these baked goods often. It's a French-Asian cafe/bakery, and inside it's stark (in a good clean way), with clear covered cases all around the perimeter and in the middle. The presentation is fabulous. We immediately went for an almond and chocolate croissant. The croissants were amazingly fresh and sugary sweet. The prices seemed reasonable for the quality. The chocolate was only a covered croissant and not filled, which kind of bummed me out, but the sprinkled almonds on top made up for that ;-) I think the prize for this place must be the cakes! I couldn't keep my eye away from the sparkly case of colorful cakes. The green tea caught my eye especially. Upon checking out, I noticed prepacked sandwiches to grab and eat in the cafe. This is a snazzy relatively new pastry shop with some fancy and attractive products. It is apparently a California based chain with Chicagoland stores in Schaumburg and this one in Glenview. It is Korean run and we saw mainly Korean customers while here and it is also reflective of the nice and new Korea town that is developing in this part of Glenview. We picked up two loaves of pan bread - mocha pastry ($4.50) and black sesame ($4.75). Both were fresh and good though the black sesame flavor was subdued and we likely wouldn't pay a premium price for such again. It's the best bakery shop!! When I miss my typical morning in Japan, I come here to purchase baked goods. There are so many good stuffs! It's all right level of sweetness and saltiness, pretty presentation and decoration. Quality is consist. Shop is very clean and service is good. My favorite item is EGG TART! It's the best!! They do have amazing bake goods, but their drinks and desserts are on the expensive side. My friends and I love their red bean shaved ice dessert! This place was my favorite when it opened a while back. They have good pastries, but more the fattening type ha ha versus some other k bakeries I visited(more of fried dough or crossaint sort). It's very pricey but the pastries are good and so r the drinks. Their ginger latte is delicious and has real pieces of ginger in it. It's very sweet so I ask for less sweet version. I did order bday ssang cream (whipping cream with fruit) cake once and was not too impressed. This cafe has a cute sitting area and free Wi-Fi. On this visit, I had their iced coffee. It was refreshing, just enough strength, and not bitter. Service was quick, and I was in and out. Usually, I like to buy their fresh loaves of bread but I couldn't carry that to a golf range. Its freshly baked and so soft. They toast up really well, and its delicious for breakfast. You'll take a tray and tongues, and select your pastries. After you're done, walk up to the counter and they will package your pastries. Their fresh cream cakes are great for celebrations.
