My favorite bakery in Houston is located in a Korean supermarket!!! My favorite items are the butter cream breads. These slim "hotdog buns" are filled with either plain, chocolate, or peanut butter flavored whipped butter. These little pastires pair up PERFECTLY with a cup of coffee and I usually buy around 10 and keep them in the fridge for the week! SOOOOO ADDICTIVE SOOO GOOD! Service here isn't exactly friendly...taking a star for this...but other than that I can't reccomend this place highly enough! read more

I really don't have a lot of places I could compare Tous Les Jours to, but I was so very pleased after making the drive out for breakfast on Saturday. Tous les Jours is inside of Super H Mart, so its not like most other breakfast destinations, but there is a small seating area for you to enjoy your pastries. We took ours to go. I had the sesame donut and red bean donut. Both were fantastic. The sesame donut was a sphere of fried dough rolled in sugar; I would estimate 2 inches in diameter. It is not incredibly sweet and the nuttiness of the sesame is fantastic. The red bean donut was much sweeter- rolled in cinnamon and sugar and the size of your average jelly donut; the filling was red bean paste. Both were about $1.10. I think for the quality of these pastries that the price is amazing. Their packaging at checkout is adorable- clear cellophane bag with their logo and some cute wording and images. My only regret after leaving the bakery was that I did not order more things before we left the store! We plan to go back and try the chocolate croissant which was enormous and looked amazing. read more

The Good: 1. Great customer service. I had to post-pone pickup date and they kindly changed pick up date. 2. Milk Choco 2 cake icing was to die for!!! 3. Perfect amount of sweetness. The Bad: 1. I had ordered two of the cakes (Cloud 5 & Milk Choco 2). They were both dry and not moist at all. So I will not be ordering from them again. At another time, I did bought some macarons. As I write this review, I am having breakfast. My breakfast for today is an apricot pastry that we got from Tous Les Jours last Saturday. It has been with me for several days but ive held off eating it until the last possible moment. Because I love it. Because I cant go get a TLJ fix until the weekend. Their breads and pastries are great. They have a baguette thats got great texture and taste. All the breakfast pastries are good, the chocolate croissants are awesome. They also have this muffin like thing called a Kaya Bun thats got this sticky sweet coconutty filling that is a bite of heaven in a bun. I love it. Probably my least favorites from TLJ would be the pastries in the little oven to the side. Theres a hotdog bun, a meat bun and a tuna bun -- and those have always proven to be a bit greasy and a tad soggy. Ive learned to stay away from those. Overpriced. Compared to other bakeries in town, the breads here cost more but are only 2/3 the size! Though as part of an international bakery mega-chain, they probably can't do much about the size or price. The breads here do look nice, but unfortunately aren't even as good as the other Asian bakeries, ignoring price. Come here if you're looking for Korean specialty breads and pastries, since most other local bakeries are either Chinese or Taiwanese. Or go to Koryo Bakery, right outside Super H Mart, where they have larger, cheaper, and higher quality Korean baked goods, but a much more limited selection. Otherwise, most of the stuff here is pretty standard and can be better found elsewhere. A good place to start is Desir Bakery in the nearby 99 Ranch Market, which makes Chinese/European style bread that's tastier and half the price. read more

For those who know me, my love for pastries is obvious. The Tous Les Jours bakery did not disappoint me. My personal favorites are the chocolate croissants and the puff pastry with sliced strawberries and whipped cream on the top. Delicious. Their loaves of bread chock-full of diced Korean sweet potatoes is like eating a pillow- a soft, sweet, incredibly fluffy pillow. It's good. I've yet to try their cakes, but they're absolutely gorgeous and I stare at them every time my parents take me to H-mart. As a warning, do not order the red bean buns if you are not a fan of the sweet red beans (although I think they're positively scrumptious). read more

I can't tell you how excited I was when I saw Tous Les Jours at H-Mart. If you want delicious pastries and cakes, this excellent Korean bakery is the place to go. There was a Tous Les Jours next to my grandmother's place in Seoul, and now I can have the same pastries here in Houston. Yaaaay! Do not go here if you're trying to lose weight. Some of their pastries are good, I find their breads are good though. You have to come to place during the day, their stuff gets bought fast from what I noticed. The only thing I usually buy here is the red bean pastries. I sometimes come here for their drinks and i honestly think it sucks. I got a yogurt smoothie one time and it tasted like the cheap little bottle liquid yogurt mixed with ice. Some time later I tried their strawberry smoothie. It was just strawberry syrup mixed with ice. By the way, the man that works there (i assume hes the manager) is not nice. When i ask him questions about the products he makes it seem like its too much work to tell me when its his job to tell me so I can buy his products. I also feel that he looks down on certain individuals. If it looks like you aren't planning to buy alot, he wont give you any sort of respect. When hes not there though, I find this place alright. I LOVE TOUS LES JOURS!!! they have an amazing selection of pastries and breads and their cakes are just ahhhhhhhh. lol the ratio of cream to cake is always perfect unlike some other asian bakeries out there ahem JUNGLE CAFE ( i cant even taste the cake when its drowning in cream). their designs are so cute too and the cream isnt heavy at all but light and fluffy. everything is always fresh and once its gone for that day youll have to wait till the next day. The staff are really friendly and thats always a plus in my book. Theres also a glass wall past the drinks area and if youre lucky you can see the people decorate the cakes and thats just really cool too. I'm so happy that there is a korean bakery in houston like this that can cater to all my fat kid needs :D read more

My all time favorite bakery. It is kind of far. It is a little bit more expensive, but I love their bakeries. They are much fluffier. The fillings are more grainy than other bakeries, but it has a better taste. It is fresh, and they last longer. You can even see the person making it at this little glass. I have never tried their cakes, but they look amazing. I think I have tried almost everything here. My favorites are the curry filled bread. I can't remember what it is called. There are no words for how excited I am to have found this place. I finally found the time to go to Super H Mart. I've heard good things about the place, but was ambivalent about driving all the way out just to go to a grocery store. However, having one day driven by the place while lost, I was surprised by how nice and new the building look and made a mental note to stop by. The bakery is right on the inside of Super H Mart with its own tiny seating area. It reminded me a lot of those yummy Japanese bakeries I ate at when I went to Tokyo a few months ago. Just like Japanese bakeries, there are several trays and baskets at the beginning with little tongs lined up on a rack. You get a tong and a tray and make your rounds adding delightful baked goods to your tray. I've never been to Korea so I'm not sure how representative this is of Korean bakeries but it was really similar to Japanese bakeries. My main complaint - no curry bun in sight. So sad. So very sad.... However, I was excited that had various packages of sliced bread loaves similar to those in Tokyo. I have no idea why but sliced bread is bigger there. More cuboid. And different in texture. Pumpkin seemed to be a popular flavor in a lot of the pastries. Also, the bakery had numerous beautiful cream cakes (in tiny and large sizes) up near the register. And I think they also sold teas and coffees and iced sugary drinks a la Starbucks. Aesthetically, they package the pastries in the cutest plastic known to man. The cakes are simply gorgeous. Nevertheless, the ambiance here is weird because... after all you are eating right in a grocery store. Its about on par with getting a coffee at the Starbucks inside Randalls or a slurpee at the tiny Target cafe. Anyway, I tried the croquette and some various other pastries that were all delectable. What a great bakery! Everything here is fresh! The baked goods here are sweet but not overwhelming. Very light and airy as are most good Asian and French desserts. Everything is nice and pre-packaged. Definitely you'll want to consume whatever you buy here preferably the same day if not no more than 1-2 days. I think food should naturally spoil after a short time and not like many processed pastries that can last more than a month. My favorite here is their cream puffs. While this place isn't my favorite bakery, it does have the best cream puffs IMHO. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my just to eat here, but you can bet I'll stop by while I'm shopping at Hmart or grabbing some lunch at the food court. read more

This quaint little Korean bakery is located inside the Super H Mart which is over by I-10 close to Memorial Mall. So the drive over there for me from Sugarland is quite a way. But with all the great reviews from fellow yelpers & my love for baked goods, I couldn't help but take me & my sweet tooth to this heavenly bakery to check it out. This trip turned out to be worth every penny of gas money I had to spend. Their display of yummy goodness was overwhelming from baguettes to croissants to whole cakes! I wanted everything! However, since I got there at around 3pm on a Saturday, some of the popular items were out. It didn't seem like they were going to bake anymore because I asked one of the employees if they were going to bring out more fresh baguettes, he said no. I quickly got over that minor devastation when I saw fresh strawberry tarts, chocolate croissants, banana cranberry pastry with cream cheese filling and many more! I really had to use as much self control as possible as not to buy everything in plain sight. I ended up with 8 items in my basket and my total was $15. I would say that is a deal since yesterday I went to an American bakery and only got 3 things and ended paying the same amount! Everything I bought was delicious....everything! The bakery is super clean & they label all their items which helps out a lot. (I hate playing the guessing game like in the Mexican bakeries.) Perhaps it's part of my upbringing, but I prefer cakes that don't taste as if they've been made with a pound of sugar. Tous Les Jours makes their cakes with little sugar, so it doesn't taste sweet, but rather almost refreshing and delicious. The pastry chefs are very detail oriented and it's pretty obvious once you look at the quality of their cakes. They also provide lots bakery items which a delectable. Curry buns are a must! I would compare this bakery to Cafe Le Duc on Bellaire, except it's probably a little more pricey, but still well worth it. read more

Just had a Mocha cheesecake along with a White chocolate smoothie the other day while shopping at H-mart. Funny thing about the Mocha cheesecake is that there is no cheese in it but it tastes nice but very small. I am surprised to see that it costs $2.50. The smoothie tastes super yummy which is $4. Among all the Asian pastry places (Taiwanese, Cantonese, Japanese, etc), TLJ is very pricey!!! If I were at the Cantonese bakery place, I could have bought 8-10 pastries with $6.50. They have a few Tous Les Jours locations in Jakarta and I was absolutely obsessed with it. The bread was so fluffy and delicious. I was excited to find out that Houston had its very own Tous Les Jours so I had high expectations. I figured since it's under the same brand the quality would be the same.... came here to say that it was not. Some of their breads were rough/unappetizing. Nothing like the soft delicious goodness that I came across in Jakarta. Price was okay, I haven't tried some of their cakes and their drinks was meh. I only come here when I'm shopping at H-Mart and I'm craving their twisted sugar bread (I forgot what it's called). Overall, it's an okay bakery. Definitely better than your local walmart/randall's/other grocery store bakery but not spectacular to write home about. read more

This store just opened Tuesday, Oct. 25, so they're getting up to speed... from warm and flaky croissants to an iced Americano, the product smells, looks (and most importantly) tastes great! I go back to this bakery repeatedly! The drive is well worth the reward. Though the name is French, the bakery is located in a Korean supermarket. My guess is that this is an Asian spin on European pastries? Thus, the items seem lighter and less sweet than pastries we find in North America or Europe. My favorite item, and I buy the my the boat load, are the butter cream breads. They look like slim hotdog buns filled with the most incredible, light, creamy and heavenly whipped butter with a hint of sweetness. The bun itself it reminiscent of an airy brioche or challah. I'm giving 1 star because of the rude customer service! The first time that I came here, I wanted to order a cake and I asked if they did pre-orders. The girl told me yes and so I asked if I can pre-order a tiramisu cake and have happy birthday on it, she said no they can only write Merry Christmas. UH, what is the point of pre-ordering?! After a while of talking and explaining blah blah, it turned out they did not take pre-orders. What a waste of my time. The second time I came here, I bought a cake (overpriced btw) and when I asked for a plastic bag, the girl told me "We don't normally give plastic bags for cake but here I guess." Attitude much?! Got my Dad's birthday cake here a while back and ever since then my family has been obsessed. I swear, every excuse of a birthday we can find, we buy a Tous Les Jours cake. It's pretty ridiculous in terms of pricing, but it's the only consistently good Asian cake I have ever laid my hands on, so I have to say it's worth the money. The cloud cakes are so appropriately named! Incredibly light and fluffy! The whipped cream frosting is heavenly. The chocolate ganache cakes are also pretty freaking amazing, a thick layer of smooth chocolate ganache with a light chocolate cake base. The best part of their cakes are the presentation. They are always so elegant and beautiful looking, I've brought one to a work-related birthday and it was perfect. Keep in mind these are Asian sweets, so they are lightly sweetened compared to the tooth-achingly sweet American dessert equivalents, but I like my sweets better that way...because it means I can eat even more :) The cakes come with an ADORABLE and sturdy cake box, a big plastic cake cutter and a pack of free candles. With such a high price point, little extras like those are really appreciated. I also love staring through the glass wall on the side and watching the cakes get decorated and cream getting whipped up til glossy. Baking is such an art. They've recently added macarons to their display case and I have been desperately wanting to splurge and get some but haven't had the courage to do so. Maybe next time though! read more

I have only had a few cookies and such, but what I have had is yummy. They can get picked over, if you arrive late in the day, so be aware of that. This is especially true on the weekend. I really love this bakery. Not only are the workers very polite, they are also very willing to help you with any questions you might have! My go-to favorites are the milk soffee and the green tea freeze. IT IS SO DARN AMAZING. The soffee is filled with a very light and slightly sweet cream and it's in between two fluffy fresh mini baguette looking breads. LOL. Take what you must from that statement. Get them as early as you can because they sell out really fast! Now let me tell you. The green tea freeze is just great. You can taste the matcha as you sip in happiness. If you're a die-hard fan for green tea like me, get this. As for the rest of the goodies, you can never really wrong with any of them. They are baked fresh everyday and pre-packed so it's easy to grab and pay! I went in for an exchange and the new one I received had the same issue but not as serious as the previous one. I'm very disappointed. The 1 star is for not messing up the coffee. I honestly come to Tous Les Jours for one specific item; the milk bread. They now have a variety of other kinds of milk break - hazelnut, black sesame, and so on - but the original is the best. Just to start off, I must say that I absolutely love their butter bread. But the butter bread aside, everything else is just average to plain. He customer service is lacking and the selection is very small. For the price that you are paying for quality should be much better.
